Any negative impact on Customer system after switching on Delta...

Hi
Could u pls let me know that:
1) In general client switch on their Delta System for Data Extraction or not?
2) If they switch on Delta, Is their any negative impact on customer system?
Thanks...

Hi Harpal,
First of all if you switch on delta there is no negative impact. The only thing is you need to follow some precautions before you switch on delta.
1) It is always a good idea to have DSO before you load data to cube in case of delta.
2) When you are loading delta for first time you need to be careful with delta initialization. Because whatever initialization you do that will remain constant for your future delta.
And the reason behind the delta mechanism is as your system becomes old then it becomes very difficult to extract Full or All data on daily basis. The extraction time will also increase and there are more chances of load failures.

  • CIF variants exist in system for last 4 years - Any negative impact ??

    Hi Experts,
I observed that we have variants of CCR existing in the system for last 4 years!!! Will it make any negative impact on the system in terms of performance ?
If yes then do you suggest to delete unnecessary Logs?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Chandan

    Hi,
We have not observred measurement of  performance deterioration due to number of variants over a period.
Variants are stored in VARID database table.
Please check how many entries are there in this table for the CIF related programs.
You may check with Basis team , if the table size is okay and also find out the rate of increase.
This can be a good housekeeping activtiy to delete obsolete variants older than say a few years.

  • Considering FileVault usage on an iMac with OSX 10.6.7. Wanting to know more about strengths and weaknesses of Filevault with Time Machine, Parallels and Carbon Copy Cloner. Any negatives to consider before flipping the switch?

I'm considering FileVault usage on an iMac with OSX 10.6.7. Wanting to know more about strengths and weaknesses of Filevault with Time Machine, Parallels and Carbon Copy Cloner. Any negatives to consider before flipping the switch? Any information ?
    Would specifically like to know:
Filevault impact on performance and application usability.
TIme machine impacts, and whether TIme Machine volume will also be secure?
Will a Cloned copy made with CCC be  bootable, or usable?
Any other negatives to consider before turning this thing on?
    Thanks,

Filevault impact on performance and application usability.
FileVault encrypts the user's home directory only - it is basically an encrypted disk image that is automatically opened when you log in and closed when you log out. It does cause disk accesses to be a bit slower so it isn't a good idea to use an encrypted account with sound or video or large graphics files. I have no experience with it with Parallels Desktop but suspect that you'd notice a bit of a slowdown. Note: in the User's directory you'll see a Shared Folder. Since FV only encrypts the user's directory you can put data you don't need encrypted in this shared folder which won't be encrypted.
TIme machine impacts, and whether TIme Machine volume will also be secure?
There are issues with TM and FV but how extensive they are with Snow Leopard I can't say, once I realized that TM and FV hadn't substantially changed between 10.5 and 10.6 I stopped dealing with it. When FV and TM were first introduced my testing led me to recommend using CCC or SuperDuper! for backing up.
Will a Cloned copy made with CCC be  bootable, or usable?
    Yes
Any other negatives to consider before turning this thing on?
Since FV is nothing more than a disk image - and disk images can fail - there are several problems with FV in my opinion. If an encrypted disk image fails it isn't possible to access any of that data. If you don't have a recent (undamaged) backup of the disk image and/or recent backup of the data within the disk image you are in a world of hurt. This isn't just a warning of possibility - this is a real danger that I've seen all too often at the shop where I have worked part time for a number of years.
At this time I strongly recommend that people who have sensitive data keep that sensitive data segregated from their general data and encrypt only the sensitive data or use other methods of locking it down such as saving on an external drive that is kept in a safe. Call me paranoid but I don't even keep all my sensitive data in one encrypted disk image. I use multiple disk images and keep multiple sequential backups. That way I might someday find that my up-to-date investments disk image won't mount but (a) I can go back a week to a backup and (b) that won't impact my up-to-date business records because those are in a different disk image

  • User Status (OK02) without business trans control - any negative impact?

    Hi,
I would like to know if there will be any negative impact if I do not maintain any business transaction control for my user statuses (OK02 config).
    Thanks!
    Vivian

    Hi Vivian,
As such there will be no negative impact in general but user statuses are required to control business transactions according to one's need . For example say there is a project created in CJ20N but management doesn't wants to release the project without budgeting. So this can be achieved by various user statuses.
Otherwise if you do not set the user status , it will not make any negative impact.

  • Any performance impact on satellite systems?

    Hello,
Our productive solution manager are setup to connect to all the ECC, XI & R/3 systems, as central monitoring system.
So far we only use Solman for monitoring & EWA, not even BPM is configured yet.
in SMSY, it's configured to use our XI SLD, to auto collect all the database, server & system data for solman system landscape.
My question is: If there is downtime on Solman system, will it have any performance (slow transaction) on satellite system, especially on my XI system (as solman access the XI SLD).
The reason I post this question here is: recently we have downtime for solution manager due to SP upgrade, during the downtime, we noticed there are a lot (thousand) IDOCs processing messages to R/3 system stucks in XI for 1 of our application. Users starting to make complaints, and we try to find the root cause in XI, in R/3 ... involve our basis guy & also XI admins, but no one able to find why.
By the time PSM is up (after 2-3 hours), ALL the stuck messages in XI are manage to clear/process at once. And until now, on one able to explain why. They are suspecting my solution manager system downtime has the impact on those satellite system.
Solman is setup to use PXI's SLD.
Anyone has feedback on this, is it coincidently, or ?
Please share if you have knowledge on this topic
    Thank you

    Hi,
As per your description I would say it is pure coincidential.
When you configure Solution Manager for system monitoring and/or EWA, all Solution Manager does is to collect the relevant data from the sattelite systems. Just this.
So, when solution manager is not available there should be no reason for any impact on the sattelite systems side.
Also,  from your description, I would say your XI is getting SLD information from Solution Manager. This is the only reason I could figure out that IDOCs are getting stucked in XI.
Is it possibel to ask your XI guys to recheck which SLD XI is using?

  • Is there any negative impact disabling view merging?

    Hi
To fix an ORA error, it was suggested to set :
    simpleview_merging=FALSE
    complexview_merging=FALSE
bug is still on Development and customer wants to know the impact, implications of
disabling view merging and if there is any way to identify queries that currently does
    simple and/or complex view merging.
For the second one, I guess the answer is no, I just want double check.
    Oracle version: 11.2.0.1
    Thanks,
    Deyanira

Doing system-wide change is always a big challenge.
Since you know what queries are affected by the bug, why don’t you set those parameters for those queries only.
    alter session set "_simple_view_merging"=FALSE ;
    Buggy query…
alter session set "_simple_view_merging"=TRUE ;You can play with OPT_PARAM hint, but I do not think it is documented hint.

  • Is there any negative impact if _newsort_enabled = FALSE?

    Hi,
To fix an ORA-600 error, it was suggested to set newsortenabled = FALSE,

    Oracle version: 11.1.0.7

The version 1 sort will use more memory and more CPU to do an in-memory sort.
It's hard to give much indication of the difference, but it will be related to the number of items sorted.

  • Any negative impact to having DEBUG enabled by default in PRODUCTION

Newbie to PL/SQL DEBUG, are there any downsides to having DEBUG enables by default for all packages in PRODUCTION?
    Performance? Security Risk? Stability?

Usually you want debug on in an development environment and debug off in a production environment.
Main reason certainly is performance. I'm not aware of any major security issues. Although simply that those debug messages might include data is a little security hole by itself. For example: Some projects require that neither admin nor developer have access to the "real" data. This could be circumvented with debug messages.
You also might want to check out some white papers from http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/pl_sql/index.html . Among others the [Conditional Compilation in Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2) (PDF)|http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/pl_sql/pdf/plsql_conditional_compilation.pdf] has some thoughts about the debug topic.

  • Can Virtual Machin system make negative impact to the database performance?

Can Virtual Machin system make negative impact to the database performance?
I want to make a virtual machine system in my server and then install Oracle 10g database on the virtual machine system. But I am not sure if Virtual Machin system can make any negative impact to the database performance.
    Thank you

The virtual machine software vendor must have certified and provided some performance figures like running Oracle on our VM would have a performance hit of n%. VMWare has such a figure published (8% if I recall correctly).
Besides, the load on physical server, apart from the virtual machine running, would also have the impact on performance.
    Other factors would be
    1. how quickly the host OS can cater to the guest OS with the RAM requirements (it would be good if you could pre-allocate RAM to VM)
    2. with the assumption that you will be running an OS within OS, files on host OS forming the VM, should be pre-allocated in terms of space, avoiding runtime extentions.

  • Negative Impact of Auto Excise Invoice (J1IIN) creating

    Dear Experts,
We are going to start auto excise Invoice creating. (after creating billing document, excise invoice will be creating automatically)
Any negative impact if we have start this scenario.
    Regards
    BK GAIKWAD

    Hi GAIKWAD,
Asper your requirement i dont think so there will be a problem, (Except for regular sales)
but carefurll when you are creating the excise invoice (J1IIN) for the exports and deemed exports, since those two sales processes system will expect the utilization option then only can able to go for the next process like ARE1, ARE3.
check it out, whether you have both exports and deemed exp scenarios
or else plz let me know(if i am wrong) if you hav any other way for both exports & deemed exp. (Automatic process)
    Thanks & Regards

  • Goods Receipts & Issues without any financial impact - (No accounting Docs)

    Hi Experts,
We have this new scenario to manage some goods which we do not own or manufacture in any of our plants, but only store them in our warehouse for another Company and release them upon a shipment notification from them to one of our common customers. Furthermore our own products against this customers' orders are combined with the non-owned pruducts and shipped as a strategy to cut freight & extra transit cost.
We intend to have visibilty over these non-owned products but do not want it to have any financial impact in our system as we Receive and Issue them in and out of inventory.
I have been thinking of consignment, subcontracting etc. but will like to get more ideas on how to do this.
    Your ideas will be appreciated.
    Thx,
    LAN.

there is no corresponding goods issue movement to a 501 receipt.
you can issue with any suitable goods issue movement, like goods issue to cost center 201, or goods issue to scrap 551, or 601 goods issue to outbound delivery.
    Hi Jurgen,
As there is no direct matching GI for 501 receipts other relevant GI Mvt types could be used but in my case I get errors when trying 201-  (Update control of Movement Type is incorrect (entry 201_X_L) msg. # M7226). I have tried to create a new Mvt. Type copying from 201, but the system defaults the Mvt. Indicator field and won't let me add an L on the new custom type.
When I tried 601 it also refereced the cost & profit centers associated with the plant in the material documents and we do not want any financial relevancy here. Could you suggest a Mvt. Type that could be ideal here.
    Thanks,
    LN.

  • Negative impact of the program- RSDMD_CHECKPRG_ALL

    hi all,
we are facing an issue with master data inconsistency . can anybody let me know if there is any negative impact of the program
RSDMD_CHECKPRG_ALL if we run it in repair mode for a single characteristic . We donot have aggregates.
    Regards,
    dola

    Hi Dola,
There will be no negative impact of the program  RSDMD_CHECKPRG_ALL if you run it in repair mode for a single characteristic Even if you do not have aggregates it will not impact...Most of options provided in RSDMD_CHECKPRG_ALL are the ones in RSRV checks. At a time you can check only for one characteristic.
    Hope it clarifies your doubt..
    Thanks,

Thanks for the reply,.  I went to the site provided and executed the directions but this did not solve the issue.
    Even more details:
If I send a message to the Jane Doe address from another account on this machine (all my family uses the same email services provider and each have accounts set up on this machine), when you open it, it shows Jane Doe then the <applejax.xx> address AND the picture associated with the Apple Jax account.
So the problem shows up when the message is sent to this account from this machine, AND when it is sent from this machine from this account.  No other accounts on the machine are effected.
I have sent and received email messages from the mail service provider's website, and everything is fine.
