  • Any Newer OS coming out soon?

    Hello,
    I have been running OS Leopard, and wanted to (obviously need to) upgrade my OS.  But before I spend the money (I'm a college student so every dollar counts), is there any new OS coming out soon (as in the next few months?).
    Thanks,
    Chelsey

  • Does MSI have any new boards coming?

    Hi guys. I was wondering if any of you knew if MSI had any new i7 boards on the way. I ask, because only two boards currently fit my slot needs: The original Eclipse SLI, and an Asrock I'd rather not touch with a ten foot pole. I need a board that can run three GTX285s (not tri-SLI, just plain SLI with an extra) and a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro PCI interface card. The two boards I mentioned will allow me to run the graphics cards without BLOCKING the PCI slot, but...
    Eclipse SLI: Supported Ram frequency is too low for my tastes. I'd like something that supports at least 1800. I also have zero need for the X-Fi card (or any onboard audio for that matter.)
    Asrock: It's Asrock. Enough said.
    I will not be ditching my Elite Pro. I bought it for the midi interface, for my keyboard, and it has served me well. Have you guys seen any news about future products? Or, and I hate to ask it here, do you have any recommendations for another board brand that meets my needs?

    Please note that the memory controller is part of the processor and there is currently no Core i7 CPU released by Intel that natively supports more then DDR3-1066.  That is why even the DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600 ratings on the product site are actually OC ratings (system stability cannot be guaranteed in all configurations at these speeds settings).  It actually does not matter what board you go for, the memory controller of the processor will be the same and have the same native specifications.  Even if you would be able to find a board that mentions DDR3-1800 support (I am not even sure if there are even industry specifications for this kind of clock speed), it does not mean that the CPU will be able to handle that.

  • Any new product coming out so

    Using Wikipedia I knew that X-Fi is the latest Sound Blaster; and probably the dominant out of all of them.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Blaster
    Looking at the release dates for each kind of Sound Card I'm seeing the last one released was October of 2006 entitled "Xtreme Audio"; same as "Xtreme Gamer"
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Blaster_X-Fi
    Now my present card is a Fataty card which means that I have a 2005 version; the year is now 2008 and I guess I was just thinking that its time for an upgrade, afterall Windows Vista is out and its always a headache to keep our 5. + speaker system in sync with the Control Panel.
    An example is tonight, I was listening to a music clip and I wasnt hearing much noise at all coming out of my rear speakers during the music. So I tried all formats and even though the "test your sound here" works just fine the true music still wasnt working.
    I ended up selecting "default" or basically restore all defaults and I heard the music this time around
    But I guess what Im asking or seeking is that I have no control over the volume level of my rear speakers. Maybe current cards; as the one that was released in October of 2006 one does have control over each of the speaker types in which you can make it louder than the other; I'm not sure.
    I know I have the latest drivers for my current card but I'm not seeing any accessible way to adjust it; the volume in the rear speakers are very low.
    The speakers I also have are new as well; bought them last August when I rebuilt this PC (sound card was just a carryover)
    So anyways as the subject says:
    Are we gonna get an announcement soon on a new Sound Card coming from Creative Labs? Isnt it due time?
    and if the answer is like "probably in 200" or something then answer me this? (please)
    Does the newest cards, the ones that was released in October of 2006 "Xtreme Gamer" does it have control functions where one can control the volume of the rear or center or basically each channel and does it fully support vista (lol I know?2 in question hehe)
    Thanks for the input.

    Well I figured out how to adjust the volume for each channel.
    Open the Creative Console Launcher (if not at top of monitor; go to programs and creative and console launcher)
    Hopefully?it should be in Entertainment mode; go to the Speaker Selection Icon
    Once loaded you should see options such as: Speaker Selection Type; Bass Settings and Advanced Settings, Hit Advanced Settings
    There you go, now you can adjust the volume for each channel in correspondence to your Speaker Selections; course I think the default is 79% each channel
    However I'm still curious if there will be a newer Sound Card

  • Any new linear deals for BT?

    Does anyone know if BT have any more channels coming on linear any time soon?

    Would also be good to get clarification on whether the current extra channels will be available in HD too.

  • Are there any new Macbook pro laptops coming out soon?

    Are there any new Macbook pro laptops coming out soon? Because if there are i will wait to buy one.

    There are always new MacBook Pro models coming out soon. However with current 2011 models you can install the faster, Rosetta program loving OS X Snow Leopard with a hack, instead of the new clitchy and unstable OS X Lion.
    So you have a choice now, but for not much longer. If you wait another 6 -8 months, Lion will be stable and more programs will be compatible with it.
    If this is your first Mac, I would wait. If you can do a simple hack with another Snow Leopard Mac, then you can opt to get one now and revert it to Snow Leopard and have a stable machine.
    Else take your chances with Lion.

  • Extra channels on youview - any news on when ?

    Is there any news on when the "extra channels" will be available on youview ?

    This is copied and pasted from the email I was sent on 14th June:
    "...we wanted to let you know that the Extra Channels on YouView will only be available, along with BT Sport from August.
    We want your TV service to be up and running before then so we have given you TV packages that will work now and on 1 August we will swap them over."
    Apparently, this means that I am being billed for the "Essentials" package for the time being, but will be transferred to the "Essentials Extra" package on 1st August when the extra channels will be made available.

  • Any news on when final series of "Lost" is coming ...

    Avoiding all small talk with Sky customers on this subject, I just wondered if there was any news when "Lost" finale might be coming to BTV?
    AQ.
    "Welcome to Royston Vasey - You'll never leave."

    Totally agree about the ending.
    Still was a great series.

  • TS2565 Is any new version of Logic coming soon?

    Plaesa, if anyone knows about any new version of logic pro coming out soon?

    No one knows, Apple will not say, and if anyone does know they cannot telly because of the NDA they've signed.
    You're asking a question with no real answer.

  • Gaming Bootcamp. Any new famous game coming to S40...

    When will temple run2 , angry birds , fruit ninja like games be available in store for asha 305?
    Please tell
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You need to ask the developers of those games that question as it's their decision to bring them to the Asha 305, not Nokia's.
    Any news about upcoming big game releases may be published on Nokia's blog, not here.

  • Any news for BT Vision?

    Hi all has there been any news for new or more services for BT Vision?. I was wondering why there are still soo many SD channels? I would have expected an announcement by now for more HD channels such as FX HD etc available on sky.

    Can't speak for other channels but I have SkyHD as well as BTV and recently wrote to Sky complaining that the quality of FOXHD on Sky was worse than FOXSD on BT's IPTV service - naturally, they didn't reply. I find the PQ on BTV's IPTV channels to be excellent in general and BT Sport in HD puts Sky's equivalent channels to shame. I'd love to see more channels and there have been earlier postings on here stating that BT expect offer more than 100 extra channels in the next 12 months. Sit tight!!
    Just found the link: http://recombu.com/digital/news/bt-adds-21-internet-tv-channels-to-the-youview-guide_M11984.html
    "YouView has asked Digital UK to double the size of the internet TV channel section to 200 channels, because TalkTalk and BT expect to add at least 130 new channels in the coming year." appears about halfway down.

  • Not able to run a program to extract news from news channel websites.

    Let me start with stating the fact that I am a super greenhorn, so please be ultra elaborate with the answers .
    This is my code, I copied it from Mr. Alvin Alexander (http://alvinalexander.com/java/edu/pj/pj010011?). I am trying to use it to extract news from news channel websites.
    I used the following URLs:
    1.http://in.reuters.com/
    2.http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/
    3.http://www.hindustantimes.com/
    // JavaGetUrl.java: //

    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;
    public class JavaGetUrl {
      public static void main (String[] args) {
      // Step 1: Start creating a few objects we'll need.
      URL u;
      InputStream is = null;
      DataInputStream dis;
      String s;
      try {
      // Step 2: Create the URL. //
      // Note: Put your real URL here, or better yet, read it as a //
      // command-line arg, or read it from a file. //
      u = new URL("http://200.210.220.1:8080/index.html");
      // Step 3: Open an input stream from the url. //
      is = u.openStream(); // throws an IOException
      // Step 4: //
      // Convert the InputStream to a buffered DataInputStream. //
      // Buffering the stream makes the reading faster; the //
      // readLine() method of the DataInputStream makes the reading //
      // easier. //
      dis = new DataInputStream(new BufferedInputStream(is));
      // Step 5: //
      // Now just read each record of the input stream, and print //
      // it out. Note that it's assumed that this problem is run //
      // from a command-line, not from an application or applet. //

      System.out.println("Oops- an IOException happened.");
      ioe.printStackTrace();

      try {
      is.close();
      } catch (IOException ioe) {
      // just going to ignore this one
      } // end of 'finally' clause
      } // end of main
    } // end of class definition
    This is the error i am getting, every time I run it on Eclipse:

    Also, when I try a local server URL, the output screen goes blank, which I guess is due to lack of Text on the local URL. So, the little research that I did, made me believe that the code not running on external server was due to firewall on the server side. Please help me run it. Also : I work on a proxy network.( if that has something to do with this).
    P.S : Advanced gratitude for any assistance.

    any decently secured server would reject such a blatant attempt to steal its content.

  • What/any new features in AirPort Extreme 5th Generation?

    Apple Support has deleted tech specs for 2G & 4G AirPort Extremes, so it's difficult to compare those previous gens to the latest. Can anybody comment on what/any new features are in AirPort Extreme 5th Generation?

    FCC filings indicate a more powerful signal coming out of it, and different radio positioning.  Longer range, and probably more even distribution of signal.
