Any new firmware updates for Linksys E2500 yet?

I heard about this http://www.komando.com/news/241801/self-replicating-virus-infects-and-breeds-inside-linksys-routers and wondering if there are any firmware updates yet but I havent seen any unless one is being worked on?

If your router is infected, you can reload the same firmware and get rid of it (but of course make sure you disable or change the remote management port so it is not still vulnerable).  The new firmware expected to come out will fix the vulnerability, but in the meantime, you can stop the attack by reloading...rebooting won't do it.

  • How do I install the firmware update for LinkSys E900 router?

    Hi,
I'm using Mac 10.7.5 and a few months back had purchased the E900 wireless router.  It has firmware 1.0.03 installed and I noticed there is a 1.0.04 update.  I downloaded the update, which is a .bin file, but I do not have a CD burner nor access to a Windows machine.  How can I install the firmware update?
    Thanks, - Dave
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Simple, with your wired computer (never wireless) just access the GUI in the router and perform the firmware update.  Just point to the .bin file and away you go.  Make sure to hard reset the router and reconfigure it after you are done.

Before location lock within 30 sec or even less than a minute, but after update it struggles to get a fix on location even after 20 min. I used ovi maps, google maps, but it does not giving me the correct location. I hope if i can downgrade to previous ver , what can i do ??

  • Is there any way to get firmware update for my DVD-RW Drive from Ultra 40?

Hi, I have Sun Ultra 40 Workstation which comes with Matshita DVD-RAM drive.
While I do enjoy working on my U40 workstation, its DVD-RAM drive is wll pretty bad.
It just fails to burn DVD/CD-R/RW media too often.
Yes, I got it serviced, but it's just the same.
So my final hope is to get the latest firmware, becuase latest firmware often solves such media compatability issues.
Mine has D100 firmware and I find other people who has the same drive on different system have D101, D200, D201 firmware.
So does anyone know how to contact Sun to get the latest firmware for my DVD-RAM drive?
I did contacted Matshita for this matter and they tell me to contact Sun. But I cannot even find email address for Sun Support or any. sigh...
    Thanks.

    Hello Sang,
I have Sun Ultra 40 Workstation which comes with Matshita DVD-RAM drive.
Mine has D100 firmware and I find other people who has the same drive on different system have D101, D200, D201 firmware.
So does anyone know how to contact Sun to get the latest firmware for my DVD-RAM drive?
I did contacted Matshita for this matter and they tell me to contact Sun.
I did review the Full Components List for the Ultra 40. The only DVD drives listed (Part No. 370-7970) are Panasonic UJ-485 and Teac DV-W28SLA-093. Both aren't capable of reading or writing DVD-RAM.
In some countries Panasonic uses Matshita as brand name.
I did a search on SunSolve with the keywords DVD firmware.
Sun supplies only firmware updates for two DVD readers: Toshiba DVD 1401 (fixes: unable to boot from Solaris 8 DVD) and Toshiba SD-C2732 (fixes: returns incorrect data).
I was unable to update the firmware of the SD-C2732 (Sun part) with the Sun patch. The drive was attached to an Ultra 10 (with an adapter). I ended attaching the drive to a PC and using a DOS boot floppy with the Toshiba flash program and the Sun firmware.
Regarding you problems with the drive: Have you tried another brand of media. The Ultra 40 is under warranty (GA date was February 14, 2006).
Use the contact information from your other thread.
If you search the net for firmware you can locate sites that offers region-code-free firmware for several drives. Usually they provide a flash program (requires creation of a DOS boot floppy). Using these programs/firmware voids your warranty. Maybe you can not revert the firmware upgrade.
These slimline drives have no jumpers, the installed firmware (of the drive) determines if the drive is master, slave, uses cable-select (CS) or reversed CS.

  • Help! Stuck in firmware update for new macbook pro

Help! Today software update asked if I wanted to do the firmware update for my 1 month old macbook pro.  It did warn there would be a grey screen and not to adjust the power, but 3 hours later I am still staring at a grey screen.  What should I do?

Thanks for the links.  I followed the instructions to the letter for the firmware upgrade - it was connected to ac power and stayed that way the whole time.
    I've got 2 questions -
    1.  I've got a grey screen - The first link  says "In the unlikely case that your computer displays a black screen after starting up, you can restore your computer's firmware back to factory condition. Follow the directions to restore your firmware."  Is this still me?
    2.  If I restore the firmware to factory settings, do I lose my data?
    thanks,

  • M20 firmware update for wps vulnerability

Can someone advise when Cisco will be releasing a firmware update for the Valet M20 router to address the WPS vulnerability problem  (e.g. disable the feature, something which *should* have been incorporated into the router in the first place).
    Thanks.

Cisco... does not care... about Valet people.
The most recent firmware was released in the 1920's, I believe. It's common practice in the technology sector as a whole to consider electronics as "legacy" devices after about 6 months to a year. Wish DD-WRT ran on this, your configuration choices are pretty much SSID, router's IP and the ability to enable or disable DHCP. Compared to open source firmwares like DD-WRT and Tomato... or even compared to other router firmwares (D-Link firmwares give a lot more control and access to advanced configuration settings-- if you can handle it). I think it's pretty clear that the intended market focus for these routers were... the users who... did not plug the power cord into the router because it said it was "wireless".
Uh oh, did I say that out loud? No... I typed it, though.
The hilarious thing about this is I work as a systems/network admin and have 20 years of experience... and this router gave me trouble when I just decided to be lazy and try setting it up using WPS and the setup program. What a disaster! I finally just did a hard reset and logged in via browser and did it the real way... but I found that extremely amusing, that by dumbing things down so much, it actually made the process (to me, at least) 10x more complicated!
Oh... I threw this one in place of my normal router because it has been acting really flaky lately... it has served its time and paid its dues, surely. I picked up the M20 on clearance for like $10 I think-- for this very purpose... to keep as a backup in my closet if my normal router decided to kick the bucket.
I'm online, so... I guess this Valet M20 is serving its purpose but the lack of configurability is just plain painful! You know what would be a great idea? For Linksys/Cisco to supply an alternative "advanced user" firmware that isn't concerned with giving users enough rope to hang themselves with. People like me and other users who know what they're doing will already know how to flash it and get going-- don't even bother with user guides and pleasantries. Not needed. Also not needed? The splitting headache that swap gave me. A "5-minute task" became a "45-minute chore". I did install the iPhone admin app and found it to be just as watered down.
It seems an odd thing to me that you'd add the option to totally change the SSID or password (something that would require you to update the configuration on all of your wireless clients), yet left out access to things that would be much more practical and useful from a smartphone-- like being able to view the logs-- I would actually find that very useful. I already know that it's a Valet M20. Could have skipped that. Now, being able to reboot the router without having to get up and go to the computer or have to go to the web admin page on my phone, strain to find that option on a page only coded for desktop display... that's useful. The guest enable/disable would be useful, too... if there were any guests here. For some reason, I can't get anyone to hang out... LOL. Ok, rant is finished, I was just testing the connection and ended up here after getting the latest firmware. Thought I'd take a moment to share my thoughts since I'm biding my time, waiting on someone at the moment. This post is an artifact and memorium of the time killed typing it up. Yeah, that's sort of a self-referencing, paradox-ish type thought, hmm. Ok, hah. Really leaving now...

  • WHY DOESNT NOKIE POST MORE FIRMWARE UPDATES FOR OT...

I AM NEW TO THIS BOARD AND HAVE FOUND THAT NO MATTER WHAT I DO TO UPDATE MY NOKIA 6230i (FIRMWARE AND RADIO SOFTWARE)I MEET A BRICK WALL.
IT SEEMS NOKIA ARENT INTERESTED IN GIVING YOU SUPPORT ONCE YOURE PHONE IS ANY MORE THAN A YEAR OLD.
THIS TO ME IS VERY UNFAIR AS I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF CASH ON THIS PHONE TRYING TO UPDATE VISUAL RADIO USING THE DIRECTIONS PROVIDED WITH NO SUCCESS AS THESE DIRECTIONS DO NOT WORK AS I CANT FIND ANYWHERE TO DOWNLOAD THE THE NEW VISUAL RADIO WHILEST ON WAP.
THIS TO DATE HAS COST ME £75 TRYING TO FIND THE LINK.
ALSO I HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR THE FIRMWARE UPDATE FOR THE 6230i AS I SEE THIS AS BEING FAIR AS EVERY OTHER MOBILE THAT IS BEING POSTED CAN BE UPDATED OVER THE AIR AND THROUGH SOFTWARE UPDATE.
WHY CANT MINE AND MANY OTHERS.
EVEN IF NOKIA POSTED THE LAST RELEASED FOR EVERY MOBILE EVEN FOR THE OLD ONES I WOULD BE VERY GREATFUL .
MY NOKIA HAS A VERY OLD FIRMWARE V3.40 THIS NOKIA KNOWS IS FULL OF BUGS AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR POSTING THE FIXES UNTILL THERE ARE NO BUGS TO SORT WITHOUT EXCESS COST OR HAVING TO VISIT A RECOMMENDED REPAIR DEALER.
I WANT IT FREE JUST LIKE THE NEXT GUY SO NOKIA POST THE FIRMWARES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS I AM COMPLETELY FED UP WITH THIS FONE AND ITS BUGS.
    YOURS SINCERELY
    AN UNHAPPY CUSTOMER

First of all, please locate the Caps Lock key of your keyboard; all upper case text is hard to read, and traditionally considered as shouting. Of course, you may already know that, and intended to shout.
Anyway, most phones do not have the built-in support for do-it-yourself firmware updates.
For such phones your options are (if you think you need a firmware update):
    - Take/send the phone to an authorized Nokia service/repair center, where the update can be done.
    - Buy relativelt expensive flashing equipment and locate illegally distributed firmware files and try it on your own with that.
My advise is to go for the former rather than the latter option. The former should cost you anything (at least not for as long as the phone is under warranty & excluding what it takes for you to go there).
As to downloading "THE NEW VISUAL RADIO WHILEST ON WAP", I don't know what you mean by that. I don't know a 6230i, but either it comes with Visual Radio built-in or not. Any updates/fixes to it would come with a firmware update, but not over WAP.
Note also that you don't need the Visual Radio service to listen to FM radio channels, and most radion stations do not support the "Visual" bit at all (if they do, the support is indicated in the station directory in the radio app on the phone).

  • Where is the firmware update for my ipod touch

I recall that there was a firmware update for my 1st Gen Ipod Touch. I did not do it at the time, but would like to do the update now to the most current firmware available for my touch. I am now on version 2.2.1 (5H11) Can anyone tell me where I can find the newer firmware? Is there any benefits to the new firmware or should I just leave it as is?

  • Any news of updating ipod photo to ipod video

guys.. is there any news about updating ipod photo to ipod video in the future??? i'm so darn pis$ed after looking at the ipod video... i have an ipod photo 30 gig and i just feel that it's really unfair for other ipod with colour display users!!!!!!!!!!
anyone here would be kind enough to calm me down!!

    Bryan,
posts like this are in my opinion quite inappropriate and immature. I can agree on the fact that at the time of purchase the iPod purchased was exactly to specifications, but if a day/week/month later you can get more (10 GB and video capability) for the same price would you not feel cheated in a certain way? Just imagine it happening with anything other than a technological advancement and imagine it happening to YOU.
Anyway, it would be a very nice gesture for us Apple iPod enthusiasts to be provided with a firmware upgrade if the technology of their iPods is capable of handling videos. I for example am a Windows deciple, but as with everything, having listened to the right reasons, was contemplating to convert to Apple. Let's see how they handle this issue going forward.

  • Firmware update for HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless to fix load paper issue - as for the 8500?

Is there any hope that that soon will be a firmware update to fix the issues loading paper and the printheads for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless printer?
A month or two ago there came a firmware update to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless, which has some of the same issues,
and allegedly should have the much of the same load-mechanism as the 8000 printer.
It would be great, as we are on the fourth (4) replacement of this HP 8000 printer. For example, it would be great if we could use normal (80g) paper and not has to use (HP) 90g paper, as this prevents us from using the duplexer and only print on one side.

Thanks for the advice to contact HP tech support!
I have tried in multiple ways since November 2009 to contact HP, when I got the first (of 4) printers. The first 3 printers was subsequently replaced.
Finally in late June 2010 I got the message that there was coming an firmware update for Windows, but not for Mac's. The firmware should improve among other things the paper pick up (load paper issue) and the print-heads life.
I have applied the Windows firmware on the printer from a pc, but still seems to have load-paper issues, even using HP Bright White paper, when printing from Mac's. I have not tested the printing from a pc, but assumes that a firmware upgrade the printer, and are not specific to a certain OS.
