Any official Apple response about defective MM?

So many complains about the defective wireless MM, and not even one single official word from Apple... Am I right, or have I missed something? Frustrating! Apple should at least have acknowledged the existence of such a problem even if they do not seem to have the finest idea what to do about it.
From what I read, there is no fix either. All known 'fixes' are premature. I hate the idea of switching MM on/off on a constant basis... I am not willing to change every half an hour or so the location of the battery... I have no sensitive fingers to know exactly where to touch the notty mouse...
In short, wireless MM is not an Apple product like those I used to be proud at, and the fact that Apple apparently does not care drives me nuts! Naively, as a loyal Mac lover for years, I do expect more from my Apple.

No answer is also an answer...

Here are some tips I've gathered from this forum on how to make sites more compatible with IE.
1 - do not use and frames or borders, etc. around photos.
    2 - don't use any reflections.
3 - create your own navigation bar with linked text* and turn of the iWeb Navigation bar. That's because the nav bar is all png based.
*Put your linked text directly under the Navigation bar. Then turn off the nav bar in the Inspector window. The nav bar will disappear and the linked text will move up to the top of the page as seen in this screenshot.
4 - use only the web safe fonts from the Font pane.
5 - do not use drop shadow on fonts.
6 - turn off smart quotes
7 - if you add a jpg to a page don't resize it in iWeb as that will cause it to be converted to png. Resize it to what you need before adding to the page..
The above will reduce the number and size of files associated with a web page quite a bit. Photos with fancy frames and reflections can generate a thumbnail png of around 110KB whereas the plain version will be a jpg of only 28KB. Although it doesn't sound like a lot, it will speed up loading of the page and be more darkside (i.e. PC) friendly.
Run a test with a test site and publish to a folder. Then follow the hints above and publish to another folder and compare folders.
Also there's a site, netrenderer that you can paste your site's url into an entry field and it will display how the various versions of IE will display your site. I don't know how accurate it is but may give you an idea of where problems areas are.

  • Apple response to iOS 5 update issues?

Will there be any official Apple response to the update problems, with fixes where appropriate?

    Note on point 1:
This is the issue with contact numbers as I further found out:
The problem basically with messages and calls.
Adding a country code to a contact number will show contact name in messages but not in calls coming therefrom.
Removing the country code from the contact number, will show only phone number in calls but not in messages where I only get the number without the name!
To overcome this problem, I have to register the same number for each contact twice, one with a country code and the other without! Duplicating numbers for each contact obviously is not the right solution.

  • Are There Any Official Answers From Apple/Logic Team To All Our Questions?

Are There Any Official Answers From Apple/Logic Team To All Our Questions Here?????
Why is Logic's interface still heavy Graphically? My G5 Dual 2.5 with 5.5 Gig ram is not enough? see how Cubase handels graphics on the same machine or even ProTools??? by the way I am a Logic user for more than 15 years, so I guess Apple knows exactly that their clients are faithfull to their products so why Logic is still outdated in many aspects, if Apple does not have the intension to make Logic the industry STANDARD they can tell us clearly

    Thoughts???
Sure; that if this was once an awesome app that i would either go back to that version or, having been seduced by new features etc., i find that i can't live without them then I would (and have ) dl Reaper (mac, free), try the Sonar7 demo bootcamped (a truly awesome app), find an le version of Cubase (there's no demo and the full version ain't cheap) and try 'em all out on a second machine over a long, slow weekend. They all have strengths and weaknesses. They all have problems for some users. if you can get around on one of them you can quickly gain passable competence on any of them and at the very least you'll learn new things you can do with Logic and, more than likely, learn that Logic is still your favorite. 8 is a major overhaul, it's bound to take a few patches to get it right. Do we want it to be perfect out of the box? Of course. Is that ever gonna' happen? Noooo ... but if it doesn't work, go back to 7, hassle Apple about and wait till the fix it.
    Good luck!

  • HT1349 In Miami 2 wks ago I purchased iMac 21.5 desktop. Several employees confirmed official apple reseller in Ecuador, Now Im here & there is none. ??so my concerns about purchasing a desktop having tech service-repair should not concern me.

After purchasing extended warranty as well, I now find myself with a very non portable computer in a country in South America that has no backup tech support for my new unit.  I would not have purchased this model had I  not venn told by serveral salesmen and one teacher that there was an official Apple Reseller in Ecuador so I had back up for technical or repair issues.
Now that I am already in Ecuador, returning or exchanging the unit is impossibe, and I have no technical back up. I am furious, and need to know who at Apple will take responsibility for the misleading info given to me be several Apple experts at the company Apple Store ibn Miami

There are a number of authorized Apple resellers and service centers in Ecuador:

If you can view the main home screen, try selecting "settings" on the far right, then choose recent at the bottom. If not, try just unplugging power for a few minutes, then plug in and try again. Keep in mind you'll need a wireless connection and there may be several updates. Hope this helps-

I can't stand peremptory affirmations like "Nothing is wrong with Safari".
Thousands of users can't be wrong (see the discussions).
If I read you the right way, it's never software' fault, it's the user who's the culprit.
    Amazing!
In this very case, the fact is we can't give to "christinefromfonthill" a good solution because weren't sitting in front of her Mac.
You give her a good advice which could, perhaps, lead to an improvement.
But must also admit that Safari is a very slow browser compared to Firefox or Chrome.
And you can't ignore all the problems which arose when upgrading to Lion and were related to the new build and specs of Safari 5.1.
The best example is the apparition of "garbage type" (use of Last Resort font) when reading numerous sites. This never occured before and is the direct consequence of Safari compliance to Web Open Type. This standard prohibits the use of Type 1 Postscript Fonts and is the reason why so many people are in trouble.
I use a Mac for more than 25 years.
I am a very "clean" user who hates the bells and whistles of third party.
My Mac is always up-to-date and despite all my Mac loving care, I run into some problems.
Imagine the nightmare which can occurs for the vulgum pecus who isn't, by definition, a power user aware of all the requirements for running a System in optimal conditions.
May be Safari is one step in advance on its time but lambda users are paying the price for it.

  • Questioning about defective batch

    Hi,
I have been an Apple user (iPhone 4s) in the last 2 years maybe? and im wondering about the issues customer got (some of them) after buying an Apple product at launchday or few days after that. Don't take my iphone 4s as a "defective one", oh no, its perfect and probably because i bought it a few months later after the official launchday (and iPhone 5 came along, jeez). And my question is, by your experience, does most apple products that has just been launched turned out to be defective? does this trend occur consistently, and how long do you think is necessary to avoid these defective batches, and acquire a perfect batch? It's because I live outside U.S and only official resellers are available, and I'm worried that they don't have return policy. And having to return Apple product and getting a new one (if they have return policy) and then it turns out to be defective as well, is annoying ,really. And I am planning to buy an iPad Air.

Never had any issues with any Apple products being defective regardless of when I bought them-launch day or otherwise.

I've seen dozens complaits about this issue. This problem happened to me yesterday in front of audience!!

Any official (or not official) solution?
I am seriously thinking of returning to power point

I tried several suggestions and nothing worked. I had a Congress presentation and had to buy a new Macbook Air.  Now its working well. This Macbook has a Intel HD Graphics 5000 with a 4GB memory. In this Mac I didnt't uptade to Maverick and still with Keynote version 5.
I really don't know what is the solution? Maybe a mix of hardware, OS and keynote version.
Maybe you can call the 0800 apple support of you area and ask them for a solution.

  • Apple Response to iWeb1.1

Has anyone received any kind of response from Apple about the issues with iWeb?

Here is the response I got from Apple, needless to say none of the solutions solved the problem :-
    Dear Ian,
    Thank you for contacting Apple.
We noticed that your request for assistance was sent directly to the .Mac Support email address, [email protected]. To ensure your request is received with the appropriate information, please, in the future, process all requests through the forms available at .Mac Support on the web, <http://www.apple.com/support/dotmac/>.
Based on the information you provided, we understand you are unable to publish your iWeb site to .Mac, receiving alternating errors.
To troubleshoot this issue, first attempt to publish your iWeb site to A folder on your Desktop by selecting File > Publish to Folder.
If you are unable to successfully publish your iWeb site to a folder on your Desktop, there may an issue with your site data or the iWeb application itself. To troubleshoot this issue further, please contact AppleCare as .Mac Support answers questions concerning the online aspects of iWeb sites published to the .Mac servers.
iWeb support can be found at <http://www.apple.com/support/iweb>. If you require assistance beyond what is available online, the Technical Support team can be reached at 800-275-2273 from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. CST every day. Please note that a per-incident fee may be associated with obtaining assistance from Tech Support. Your Tech Support representative will be able to determine what cost, if any, would be charged for the call.
If you are able to successfully publish your iWeb site to a folder on your Desktop and continue to receive the error "There was an error reading your iDisk quota," we first recommend that you back up the iWeb data file. If you already have this file backed up, you may skip to "Resolving the issue" below.
To locate the iWeb data file:
    1. From the Finder menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder.
    2. Type (or copy and paste) ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb into the field and click Go. You should now see a file named Domain. This file may also appear as Domain.sites, but we will refer to it as Domain throughout these instructions.
If you have the Backup application that is included with .Mac, you can use this to back up the file to your iDisk, CD/DVD, or to an external hard disk.
Note: Though there is an iLife plan in Backup, it does not currently back up the files associated with iWeb. To back up iWeb files, you will need to use either the Custom or Home Folder plan.
If you do not have Backup, you can create a copy of the file and place the copy in a safe place. To duplicate the Domain file, click the file once to highlight it, then select Duplicate from the File menu. This will create a copy of the file named, "Domain copy." Move this file to the desktop or any other safe location.
    Resolving the issue:
    1. Quit iWeb if it is open.
    2. From the Finder menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder.
    3. Type (or copy and paste) ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb into the field and click Go. You should now see a file named Domain. This is a Mac OS X package file.
Note: A package is a relatively common type of document in Mac OS X; it is essentially a sealed folder. It contains individual items, but cannot be opened in the same manner as a folder.
    4. To open the package, hold down the Control key and click on the Domain package file.
Note: If you have a two-button mouse, this step can be accomplished by right-clicking the Domain package file.
    5. Select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu that appears.
    6. A new window titled Domain will appear showing the contents of the package. Here you will see one file (or possibly two files) named "assets.<membername>.groups.<groupname>.plist" or "assets.<membername>.plist" where <membername> and <groupname> correspond to your .Mac member name and .Mac Group name.
Note: Your .Mac member name is the first part of your .Mac email address, before "@mac.com."
    7. If you have either or both of these files, move them to the trash. Then close the Domain window.
    8. Open iWeb and try publishing again.
If you receive the error "Publish Error - An error occurred while publishing file "filename", try publishing again. If the timeout recurs, continue trying to publish.
For more information, please see the following article:
iWeb: "Publish Error" message due to a network timeout

For more assistance with iWeb, visit the iWeb Support page:
    iWeb Support
    <http://www.apple.com/support/iweb>.
If you are unable to resolve the timeout issues after multiple attempts, please let us know. In your follow-up email, please include any details that may be relevant, such as situations in which the error does not occur, details as to how you connect to the Internet, such as your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and connection method, as well as any additional information pertaining to the configuration of your local area network (LAN).
Regarding your inability to perform successful searches of your Blog using the Search feature, we suggest forcing a republish of your entire site.
To republish your site, first make sure you can access your iDisk from the Finder menu bar.
    1. Click Go in Finder menu bar
    2. Click iDisk > My iDisk
    3. Verify you can upload a file to the iDisk's Group Folder
If you are successful in this, open iWeb and force it to republish the entire site to .Mac. To perform a forced republish of your entire site to .Mac, hold down the Option key while choosing File > "Publish All to .Mac.
Once you have successfully republished your entire site, clear your web browser's cache and attempt to search your Blog page once more. You can clear Safari's cache by selecting Safari > Empty Cache.
If your issue persists, please create a test Blog page, compose a test entry, add the search function to the test page and then publish.
Please reply to this message with the results.
    Sincerely,
    Leah

  • Apple Response to Problems

Hi All, I along with so many of you are having the same problems with streaming since the update, when everything was working fine before the update. For many this is not a internet speed problem, it is a bug in the new update that has affected the buffering of HD content and Dolby Digital sound. There are so many posts now, it's difficult to find any real resolutions. Has anyone actually heard any official word from Apple on whether they have even acknowledged there are problems with the new update and if they are doing anything about them?

Thanks I'm aware of that. I was just asking if anyone had heard any word from Apple, Applecare or tech support that acknowledged the problems most people are having and if anyone has heard of an impending fix.

  • Official Apple Unlocked iPhone, not supported by Apple

Whilst I was travelling in South East Asia, I needed to purchase a new phone.
I found a supplier of iPhones in Thailand that sold me an Official Apple Unlocked iPhone, it turned out to be an Italian iPhone, again an official Apple one.
I needed an unlocked phone that I could use in many different countries, using local SIM cards.
I have been very happy with the phone, it needed updating to v2 and this did not cause any problems.
I was just speaking with AppleCare about an unrelated issue. at the end of the conversation I mentioned that the only thing about the iPhone that was disappointing about the iPhone was the volume of the speaker phone. The agent took the serial number of the iPhone and put me through to iPhone support.
The iPhone agent then took the serial number again and told me that I had an Italian iPhone, because it was bought in Thailand, support was only available through Thailand, she also told me that using a SIM card other than that of an official carrier voided the warranty.
All this seems a bit restrictive, for people in my position, to buy an Official Apple product and then be denied support defeats the object of sourcing an unlocked product in the first place. I can understand why Apple refuse to support iPhones that are unofficially unlocked, but to deny support for an official product seems grossly unfair.
Anyone else had problems getting Apple to support their own products, any ideas how this situation can be resolved?
    Jeremy

Apple clearly states that an iPhone is supported only in the country in which is was officially distributed. If you purchased an Italian-distributed iPhone in Thailand, it was imported and sold against Apple's terms and contracts and so you may indeed have problems getting it serviced since it will not show as being sold in the correct country. Using a SIM from another carrier is also unsupported. The only places in Thailand where can purchase an iPhone that will be supported by Apple in that country are True Move stores or Apple Premium Resellers. See:
    http://www.apple.com/asia/iphone/buy/#th
for links to approved locations. Any such iPhone sold will be supported only in Thailand.
At this point you're probably stuck since you have an unofficially-sold iPhone. Your best route will be to sell your current iPhone and purchase one from an official dealer in your country of residence. Do not buy one in any other country (unless you'll be in that country for months or years), whether it's unlocked or carrier-locked, or you'll have the same problem.

  • "This cable is not certified and may not work properly..." Official Apple cable!

I am using an official Apple charging cable and keep getting the message "This cable is not certified and may not work reliably..." And this cable has worked until now! Restarting the phone works sometimes but only for a bit.
    What's wrong here/

Thanks, but it didn't fix it. I've tried 3 different Apple cables and I get the same message with each. I'm guessing it's the port has become defective somehow although with all the other questions about the same issue, I wonder if it could be a software issue!

I have seen so much response about the Mountain Lion update slowing down computers.  I am updating from Mac OS x 10.6.8.  What can I do to ensure the upgrade will go fine?  Do I unplug my external hard drive before installing, or keep it plugged in?
Also, I have the 08 version of iWork. Will this cause problems for the update?  Can I update this AFTER I update the processor?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
There's no reason to think that Mountain Lion will slow down your Mac. Just make a backup of your data before upgrading with Time Machine > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
Also, check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com Upgrade them to a compatible version or delete them before upgrading.
The external drive won't make the OS X Mountain Lion installer fail, but it's better to unplug it during the upgrade.
iWork '08 is compatible with Mountain Lion. iWork '09 includes OS X Mountain Lion features and can be purchased at the Mac App Store.
To upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend at least 4 GB of RAM. You can check how much memory you have in Apple menu > About this Mac
