Any one having problems inserting Pages files into iBook author"

Ever since I updated the Pages a week ago, iBook Author is unable to read Pages files while attempting to insert. Never had a problem in previous versions of Pages or files created a few months ago. The only work around is to copy text and past into new sections in iBook Author. Tedious. Any solution appreciated.

I ran some tests with a new Pages 5 doc saved in both Pages 5 format and exported to Pages 09 format, and iBA had no problem importing them. So perhaps the problem is confined to older docs.

Any one having issues with this update. Phone was working fine untill this update. I am having low signal, goes inbetween 1x and 3g, apps slow to load if at all, apps crash and to top it off, heavy battery drain. I did not have any of this problem before 7.0.3 update.

Difficulty importing Pages document into iBooks Author

Maybe I'm doing something wrong--but when I insert a Pages document (made up of 16 pages of images), iBooks Author collapses the 16 pages of images into a single page, adding the additional pages as blank pages. Same thing happens when I insert the file as an MS Word file.
Shouldn't it be easy to insert a Pages into iBooks Author?

Should be....but....there is no simple lever to pull that amounts to a fitz-all recipe.
Experiment with different iBA templates using copy/paste from your source.

Hi,
when I drag a pdf file (when working in Preview) into iBooks Author, the background colour in the pdf file changes into the background colour of the book.
This happens not consistently, sometimes the background of the pdf file does not change (and stays white), sometimes it's like the text in the pdf file is 'lifted' of the file, and put on the page in iBooks Author (with a brown/beige background).
All the pdf files are scanned pdf's, nothing comes out of Pages, Word, Excel,...
Anybody?

I believe this is because the PDFs have transparent backgrounds. As far as I can tell, the only way to fix it is to export the PDF as another file, such as an image file. Or perhaps convert it to Word and import it that way.

HT4314 Any one having problems in continuesly being kicked out of a game? I have iPad classic.

For the past week I have not been able to play any of my games on my iPad classic. I have tried all of the recommended trouble shooting suggestions to no avail. Does any one have any advice?

Here are some things to check:
1. Stop all file services on your server and verify the volume structures of all disks. I've seen some Effective Permissions problems corrected when diskutil or Disk Utility is able to repair the Extended Attributes file, which holds ACL information. (Even if you're using POSIX-only permissions, this is a good idea.) In my experience, most minor directory damage occurred when the server started out with Mac OS X Server 10.4, 10.4.1, or 10.4.2, and was updated incrementally.
Note: If you aren't using Effective Permissions, which incorporate standard POSIX and ACL information, please see my ACL Tips post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=318161
2. If you haven't done so, download and apply the Mac OS X Server 10.4.6 update. As an added measure, use the 10.4.6 Server Combo to ensure that all enhancements since 10.4 are applied properly. Sometimes, a partial or incomplete Delta update can be fixed by reapplying the current or next Combo update.
3. On the server, create a new Services folder, set its permissions correctly, and copy the contents of the old Services folder to it. It may be that your present Services folder was created by an older version of Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, or Mac OS 9. There may be some Finder flag information still lingering from an earlier operating system. This can cause unexpected Finder behavior.
4. On the client, when the particular user receives the insufficient privileges error, attempt the same action using Terminal. (For example, if you receive the error when attempting to open the folder in the Finder, use cd and ls to see if you can navigate to the folder and view its contents in Terminal.) This is especially useful when troubleshooting to determine if the problem is isolated to the Finder (see next item).

What kind of problems? I am having no issues. Have you tried quitting the app completely and then restart the iPad?
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or reboot the iPad?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If those don't help, post back with your specific issues.

Importing full-page images into iBooks Author (without image degradation)

Hi ,, I have had little success importing images created with paint programs such as Corel Sketchpad, Photoshop, Corel Painter, etc. Everything seems to work just fine, but there are pixelated artifacts in the final image that shows on the iPad. I create the orginal images at 1024 x 768 ... and save them as high-qulaity jpgs and pngs .... but still poor qualiting especially where large blocks of solid colors are adjacent to one another.
When I use a vector program such as Flash or Illustrator and export those images as jpgs ... they look perfect on my iPad. I don't want to use a vector program however ... I want to use paint programs.
Anyway have success with paint program images? If so, what is your step-by-step process? Hopefully Apple will fix this bug so that paint program's exported jpgs don't have pixelated artifacts at edge areas. There is also a very noticeable color shift in the imported image .. much ligher and less saturated colors.
In the image below you can see the imported image showing artifacts and the orignal image is not showing artifacts.

An iPad 2 screen is 132 - new ipad is 264.
In cases where you're seeing noticable degradation I wouldn't work with less than 132.
Start high and reduce....don't try to make low do something it can't by simply adjusting the resolution up.
I tend to avoid those 'paint programs' And remember, this isn't just about iBooks Author....iOS does the heavy lifting, but sure, it can only do as good as iBA spits out. I think they're working to trim the sails on compression etc. and it will only get better over time.
The @2x scheme is working well for iOS - I have some stunning graphics for the new iPad in my latest app.

Problem inserting large files into a Blob-Column

i am using a oracle 10g database.
i defined a table including one blob column as follows:

small files (for example 2700 chars) are ok, the pass into the attachment column.
larger files dont go there. i receive no errormessage.

Is any one having problems with Messages.app logging in

every now and then when logging into Messages it freezes. If I try later, it just might work properly. Right now its refusing to open.
