Any opinions on loading Salary Survey/Market data to Oracle HR?

Our choice is to look up each job individually on Salary.com and enter it manually or pull the data from The National Compensation Survey<http://www.bls.gov/ncs/data.htm> and loading it through the API.
Any thoughts? If I don't want to buy any of the fancy analytics from salary.com and I have Oracle HR and OBI to produce my own reports, can I rely on the Government data?

As my understanding there is not seeded solution exist for this.
Ya you can create Custom interface and reports for this requirement .
Recommended Two Approach.
===================
1.
you can check with National Compensation Survey<http://www.bls.gov/ncs/data.htm> or salary.com whether they provide any input data for outside application.
If Yes you can design interface to read these files and then make custom reports/pages on them.
2. If no , you have to manually create these flat file/Excel to provide data to interface.

  • Job pricing - Import survey provider data

    Hi everyone,
I´m starting to work with Job pricing, I have no idea of how this modukle work and I need to do a little demo. I can not find a file to be upload and have information of one provider in the system. If any one could tell me where I can find a file or files to start to test how it works, it would be great.
    Thanks

For Demo purposes identify jobs to be matched against survey jobs in your Dev system. Even one provider file with matching jobs should suffice. Follow the steps and you be good to go:
    1. Run transaction PECM_START_JPR_BSP- Start Job Pricing to get into the web application.
    2. Get into Provider Data Workset. Create Provider for demo purposes with unique Provider Code  a Provider Name and a URL link to the provideru2019s web site and Save the Provider.
    3. Get into Survey Job Catalog. Select Provider and click on Job Catalog tab for the specific job and review the Market data/ aged market data for a job and review/change the job descriptions.
    4. Get into Import Data workset to upload job-related data from the survey provider to make external salary comparisons between what your organization and other similar companies. Select the data type for import from - Survey Job Catalog/ Survey Job Descriptions/ Survey Market Data. Use Browse function to select the file with the survey data and choose Upload. Select Next Step and Match the fields from the imported file -Provider Field Name Versus Field Name in SAP. Thereafter import the data. and review it thoroughly before saving it to your SAP database tables. key fields to match are Job Code and Job Level(if present).
    5. Get into Job Matching workset to match your  internal jobs which you have identified with those of the survey provider. In Create Job Matches screen  Internal Jobs and Survey Jobs showup.. Select your identified internal job to match with survey job and  the system displays the data for this job and any existing job matches. Evaluate how closely the survey job matched your internal job and specify matching percentage and the weighting factor in the appropriate fields information purposes. Save the results.
    6. If aging functionality needs to be shown then get into the workset else skip it. In this workset aging of the survey provider's  data can be carried out either by Market movement rate or by  Aging  factor
    7. Get into Creating a Mass Composite Result  workset  create market composites(in your case only one provider) for your identified jobs.
    8. Get into Salary Structure Adjustment  workset to compare your internal salary structure to the market salary structure finally. As a prereq have Planned Comp for the identified. Get into Current Salary Structure tab to displays the current salary structure for review, Market Data tab to compare with internal salary structure. and select a composite result,  Planned Salary Structure tab to select an existing plan structure from the corresponding dropdown box or from the result created in the Market Data. You could also overwrite the values of this plan structure directly or change the Difference % columns and select Recalculate.
    9.  Final step is to save the updated salary structure in Planned status and as a process after management/board approvoval run the report Update of Pay Grade Amounts from Market Data to activate the new structure.
    I hope it helps.
    Thanks

  • Job Pricing Market Data

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to report out on the internal jobs and how we match up to the external survey providers. My question is, where on the backend is the survey market data stored so we can develop some reports out of it?
    Much appreciated,
    Zack

    Hi Zack,
The survey market data is stored in IT1271 (table HRP1271). The job pricing process is made up of many different steps and data for all these steps in stored in table T71JPRxx.

  • Power BI performance issue when load large amount of data from database

I need to load data set from my database, which have large amount of data, it will take so many time to initialize data before I can build report, is there any good way to process large amount of data for PowerBI? As I know many people analysis data based
on PowerBI, is there any suggestion for loading large amount of data from database?
    Thanks a lot for help

    Hi Ruixue,
We have made significant performance improvements to Data Load in the February update for the Power BI Designer:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/powerbi/archive/2015/02/19/6-new-updates-for-the-power-bi-preview-february-2015.aspx
Would you be able to try again and let us know if it's still slow? With the latest improvements, it should take between half and one third of the time that it used to.
    Thanks,
    M.

  • Cannot load any data from Oracle 11G data base

    Hi Gurus!
    We using SAP BI 7.0.
We have a source system, which is an Oracle Data warehouse based on Oracle 11G data bases.
We created the source system in the BI without any problem.
The connection is open to the Oracle databases.
We created data source in the BI (trn. RSA1), and when we would like to Read Preview Data (Display data source, Preview tab) we can't see anything.
The system is working, in trn. SM50 we see the process is runing, but we can't see any data (we wait more than 5000 sec.)
When we tried data load from the source system, we got a short dump with time-out (after 50000 sec.)
    Summarize:
    - the connection to the source system is OK,
    - the process is running
    - we can't see any Preview data
    Can somebody help us?
    Thank you.
    Best regards,
    Gergely Gombos

We really need to know what errors or warnings the Cache Agent is reporting in the TimesTen ttmesg.log files, when an autorefresh fails, to be able to give advice. If the size of the datastore segment is 512MB (though you don't say how that is divided between Perm, Temp and Log Buffer) but you're only using 30MB of Perm, then on the face of it, it's not a problem in running out of memory. You say autorefresh doesn't complete when "there are a lot of updates on cached tables" - do you mean updates being done directly on the rows in the TimesTen cachegroups, by users? If so, it sounds to me like you have locking contention between the user updates, and the autorefresh mechanism trying to bring new rows in from Oracle. Again, the ttmesg.log should spell this out.

  • How to load salary data into Oracle HRMS

    Hello,
I have a spreadsheet with the following values: employee_number, from (effective_date), annual_salary,bi_weekly_salary, reason_for_change, status. I do not know where (which table in the APPS) to load the data for these employee salaries. If anyone could help me out I would be very grateful. I am trying to load this data into Oracle HRMS.
    Thanks!
    Eric

Pl post details of OS, database and EBS versions. You will need someone with APPS HRMS experience to guide you thru this process. One option could be to use the WebADI interface. Another option could be the Mass Update feature. The solution will depend on your exact needs

  • Any opinions re Avast vs ClamXav?

Any opinions? I've been using ClamXav for a long  time and it never seemed to do anything. Avast has flagged emails and found a virus in my Parallels Win 7 file that my Windows AV software eventually cleaned. Avast seems good, any downsides?
    Mark

    1. This comment applies to malicious software ("malware") that's installed unwittingly by the victim of a network attack. It does not apply to software, such as keystroke loggers, that may be installed deliberately by an intruder who has hands-on access to the victim's computer. That threat is in a different category, and there's no easy way to defend against it. If you have reason to suspect that you're the target of such an attack, you need expert help.
If you find this comment too long or too technical, read only sections 5, 6, and 10.
OS X now implements three layers of built-in protection specifically against malware, not counting runtime protections such as execute disable, sandboxing, system library randomization, and address space layout randomization that may also guard against other kinds of exploits.
    2. All versions of OS X since 10.6.7 have been able to detect known Mac malware in downloaded files, and to block insecure web plugins. This feature is transparent to the user, but internally Apple calls it "XProtect." The malware recognition database is automatically checked for updates once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders.
The following caveats apply to XProtect:
It can be bypassed by some third-party networking software, such as BitTorrent clients and Java applets.
It only applies to software downloaded from the network. Software installed from a CD or other media is not checked.
    3. Starting with OS X 10.7.5, there has been a second layer of built-in malware protection, designated "Gatekeeper" by Apple. By default, applications and Installer packages downloaded from the network will only run if they're digitally signed by a developer with a certificate issued by Apple. Software certified in this way hasn't necessarily been tested by Apple, but you can be reasonably sure that it hasn't been modified by anyone other than the developer. His identity is known to Apple, so he could be held legally responsible if he distributed malware. That may not mean much if the developer lives in a country with a weak legal system (see below.)
Gatekeeper doesn't depend on a database of known malware. It has, however, the same limitations as XProtect, and in addition the following:
It can easily be disabled or overridden by the user.
A malware attacker could get control of a code-signing certificate under false pretenses, or could simply ignore the consequences of distributing codesigned malware.
An App Store developer could find a way to bypass Apple's oversight, or the oversight could fail due to human error.
For the reasons given above, App Store products, and other applications recognized by Gatekeeper as signed, are safer than others, but they can't be considered absolutely safe. "Sandboxed" applications may prompt for access to private data, such as your contacts, or for access to the network. Think before granting that access. OS X security is based on user input. Never click through any request for authorization without thinking.
    4. Starting with OS X 10.8.3, a third layer of protection has been added: a "Malware Removal Tool" (MRT). MRT runs automatically in the background when you update the OS. It checks for, and removes, malware that may have evaded the other protections via a Java exploit (see below.) MRT also runs when you install or update the Apple-supplied Java runtime (but not the Oracle runtime.) Like XProtect, MRT is presumably effective against known attacks, but maybe not against unknown attacks. It notifies you if it finds malware, but otherwise there's no user interface to MRT.
    5. XProtect, Gatekeeper, and MRT reduce the risk of malware attack, but they're not absolute protection. The first and best line of defense is always your own intelligence. With the possible exception of Java exploits, all known malware circulating on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of so-called "trojan horses," which can only have an effect if the victim is duped into running them. The threat therefore amounts to a battle of wits between you and the malware attacker. If you're smarter than he thinks you are, you'll win.
That means, in practice, that you never use software that comes from an untrustworthy source, or that does something inherently untrustworthy. How do you know what is trustworthy?
Any website that prompts you to install a “codec,” “plug-in,” "player," "extractor," or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown one, is untrustworthy.
A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim. (Some reputable websites did legitimately warn visitors who were infected with the "DNSChanger" malware. That exception to this rule no longer applies.)
Pirated copies or "cracks" of commercial software, no matter where they come from, are unsafe.
Software of any kind downloaded from a BitTorrent or from a Usenet binary newsgroup is unsafe.
Software that purports to help you do something that's illegal or that infringes copyright, such as saving streamed audio or video for reuse without permission, is unsafe. All YouTube "downloaders" are in this category, though not all are necessarily harmful.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. If it comes from any other source, it's unsafe.
Even signed applications, no matter what the source, should not be trusted if they do something unexpected, such as asking for permission to access your contacts, your location, or the Internet for no obvious reason.
    6. Java on the Web (not to be confused with JavaScript, to which it's not related, despite the similarity of the names) is a weak point in the security of any system. Java is, among other things, a platform for running complex applications in a web page, on the client. That was always a bad idea, and Java's developers have proven themselves incapable of implementing it without also creating a portal for malware to enter. Past Java exploits are the closest thing there has ever been to a Windows-style virus affecting OS X. Merely loading a page with malicious Java content could be harmful.
Fortunately, client-side Java on the Web is obsolete and mostly extinct. Only a few outmoded sites still use it. Try to hasten the process of extinction by avoiding those sites, if you have a choice. Forget about playing games or other non-essential uses of Java.
Java is not included in OS X 10.7 and later. Discrete Java installers are distributed by Apple and by Oracle (the developer of Java.) Don't use either one unless you need it. Most people don't. If Java is installed, disable it — not JavaScript — in your browsers.
Regardless of version, experience has shown that Java on the Web can't be trusted. If you must use a Java applet for a task on a specific site, enable Java only for that site in Safari. Never enable Java for a public website that carries third-party advertising. Use it only on well-known, login-protected, secure websites without ads. In Safari 6 or later, you'll see a lock icon in the address bar with the abbreviation "https" when visiting a secure site.
Follow the above guidelines, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can practically be. The rest of this comment concerns what you should not do to protect yourself from malware.
    7. Never install any commercial "anti-virus" or "Internet security" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good, if they do any good at all. Any database of known threats is always going to be out of date. Most of the danger is from unknown threats. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use the free software  ClamXav— nothing else.
Why shouldn't you use commercial "anti-virus" products?
Their design is predicated on the nonexistent threat that malware may be injected at any time, anywhere in the file system. Malware is downloaded from the network; it doesn't materialize from nowhere.
In order to meet that nonexistent threat, the software modifies or duplicates low-level functions of the operating system, which is a waste of resources and a common cause of instability, bugs, and poor performance.
By modifying the operating system, the software itself may create weaknesses that could be exploited by malware attackers.
    8. ClamXav doesn't have these drawbacks. That doesn't mean it's entirely safe. It may report email messages that have "phishing" links in the body, or Windows malware in attachments, as infected files, and offer to delete or move them. Doing so will corrupt the Mail database. The messages should be deleted from within the Mail application.
ClamXav is not needed, and should not be relied upon, for protection against OS X malware. It's useful only for detecting Windows malware. Windows malware can't harm you directly (unless, of course, you use Windows.) Just don't pass it on to anyone else.
A Windows malware attachment in email is usually easy to recognize. The file name will often be targeted at people who aren't very bright; for example:
    ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!H0TBABEZ4U!!!!!!!.AVI♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.exe
ClamXav may be able to tell you which particular virus or trojan it is, but do you care? In practice, there's seldom a reason to use ClamXav unless a network administrator requires you to run an anti-virus application.
    9. It seems to be a common belief that the built-in Application Firewall acts as a barrier to infection, or prevents malware from functioning. It does neither. It blocks inbound connections to certain network services you're running, such as file sharing. It's disabled by default and you should leave it that way if you're behind a router on a private home or office network. Activate it only when you're on an untrusted network, for instance a public Wi-Fi hotspot, where you don't want to provide services. Disable any services you don't use in the Sharing preference pane. All are disabled by default.
    10. As a Mac user you don't have to live in fear that your computer is going to be infected every time you install an application, read email, or visit a web page. But neither should you have the false idea that you will always be safe, no matter what you do. The greatest harm done by security software is precisely its selling point: it makes people feel safe. They may then feel safe enough to take risks from which the software doesn't protect them. Nothing can lessen the need for safe computing practices.

  • Flat file data load - ODS - Look up data in Startroutine

    Hi All,
There is a requirement that I have two ODS say 1) ABC and XYZ.
For Both ODS , We load flat file data.
First we load data to ABC for current fiscal period
During the data load to XYZ, We lookup part nos data in ABC for current fiscal period , if data there , for those part nos we load XYZ Flat file data.
My requirement is that , I need to fetch part nos data from ABC for Fiscal period < current fisacl period.  Then I need to extract already loaded data for those part nos from XYZ and Mark the flag field as Non reportable .
How can we achieve this ?
    Please advice
    Thanks
    Ajay

    Hi ,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have done so. When I add lines of My Internal table data to DATA_PACKAGE, It gives the syntax error that both structures are not unique. We have several fields in XYZ ods but they are not in Communication structure.
Thats the problem. Also , if I write the code , will it be executed for each datapackage. I mean , for each datapacket process , my code will fetch whole data from ABC and then from XYZ. Repetion will be there?
Any other logic can i use ?
    Thanks
    Ajay

  • Loading and Unloading of data

    Hi all,
Today i have come accross the site http://www.wisdomforce.com/ in which the have a product named fast reader ,
They claims that it can extract all the data's with in a fraction of second and never worried of it size...
Anybody else using this product ..
If yes,How this can be done in few seconds ,
and Is there any similar product available from oracle apart from the traditional way of exp/imp.
    Regards,
    Mohammed

It is not logical you can extract any size in fraction of second with Fastreader
it will take more time to extract 1 billion rows tables compared to one million.
Fastreader could improve the extract and load speed, especially if data has to be extracted into flat files

  • Load XML Data to Oracle Table

I am new to AQ and XML,
We have a situation at our project, the last DBA left us without any previous notice and no one here know AQ and XML. So now it is my duty to learn and work on this project.
We are getting Queue with XML information (i mean data) we have to dequeue and then store that data in oracle tables.
I tried to each and every site to get a grip of what's the basic here, but I get lost. It's more easy for me to understand a concept by going through examples rather study chapters.
This is what I did today from this site. (http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/codesnippet/xmldb/HowToLoadLargeXML.html#PLSQLCode)
created the potable, then loaded data in potable as per example. Now I want to load this data in a table which I created in Oracle (10.2....) table.

  • SQL Loader problem in loading MS Access Memo Data

    HI guys!
I am having trouble loading my Access data into my Oracle Database.
I export first the data from Access to an Excel file and then I save as the Excel file as a CSV file.
Then by using SQL Loader I load the csv file to the Oracle.
    load data
    REPLACE
    into table TBL1
    fields terminated by ','
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    NAME,
    ID
    NOTES CHAR(4000),
The problem is with the NOTES data. It is declared as Memo type in Access and I declared it as VARCHAR2(1000) in Oracle. If I don't have any carriage returns (Enter Key) in the data, the data is loaded successfully but when it has some carriage returns (Enter Key) the data is cut (continued to next line) and wrong data is being loaded...
BUt if I just copy-paste manually the data, it is loaded successfully..
How do I deal with this problem.I have over 20,000 data so I can't do copy-paste..
    Appreciate any help..
    Thanks!

Did you try to specify the "end of record " string (str <terminator string> function) , or Trimming whitespaces function ? Please refer to "Oracle Database utilities" for more information about it .
