Any Plan on Arch/kFreeBSD?

You know Debian and Gentoo has kFreeBSD project.
I just wondering how about Arch/kFreeBSD...
I just sick of upgrading Linux Kernel... and the ports of FreeBSD is not so easy to play with.
It is will be best for Pacman + FreeBSD!
Thanks.

Nope: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DragonFly_ … management
I could have sworn that I read that somewhere. Hallucinating again I guess.
Initially pacman was in the running as their package manager (i recall reading about it on some mailing list at one point), but since pacman was GPL (most bsd projects dont like choosing gpl licensed apps as part of their core install if they can help it), and at the time had some funky library issues..it never made it past the early testing stages, as I recall... that was quite a few years ago though, so I might have the details wrong... my memory is a bit foggy.
pkgsrc is pretty well supported by most of the BSD's these days, and is nearly a de facto standard.

  • Any plan to include the mate desktop in Archlinux

Are there any plan to include the Mate desktop in Archlinux?
I have installed Linux for my mother that was used to Windows XP. My aim was to configure a desktop that was as close as possible as Windows XP. I have chosen Xfce (after a little reconfiguration of the desktop: make one single panel at the bottom of the screen, install network-manager and reconfigure a few things here and there). I was convinced nevertheless that Mate should have done in theory a better job. But this necessitates to include an entire third party repository and I would like to stay with something that is Arch supported. I think Mate become more and more popular and have contributed to the rise of Mint Linux vs Ubuntu. Up to know every widely used software was available in the Arch repository. The AUR was only needed for a few mostly standalone software that do not make part of the system; but if Arch misses Mate, this would maybe not be the case in the future anymore.

I believe mate-desktop and the related packages on AUR is quite well enough as a resource.
But on another note, i did myself set up a arch-linux box for my mother.
What i did though was to create an openbox enviroment, with just a simple menu bar at the bottom.
It has 3 desktops, and it autostarts firefox (with her usual pages on the bookmark-bar)
and py-solitaire fullscreen on desktop 1 and 2.
I then have taught her to just switch between desk 1 and 2
    - thus ranging in the only activites she tends to do on her computer.
It is dead simple really, and it has lessen my need of support by 96%.
The beauty is that there is no buttons or icons for her to press
(the four percent only being when someone convinces her that she must be able to do whatever her aquantances does on their winbox at home)
I am at ease with this.

  • HT4314 Have apple got any plans to allow iPhones sharing an apple Id to have separate Game Center accounts

Have apple got any plans to allow iPhones sharing an apple Id to have separate Game Center accounts

You can create another apple Id for a seperate device.  My wife and I both have I phones and we share the same apple ID for purchases.  We however each have our own apple ID for icloud or gamecenter as it were.  That way you can share all your apps, music, movies and books but have your own ID for iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud and so on.  To make it extra clear I have two apple IDs on my iPhone.  One for purchasing and one for icloud or gamecenter.

  • Do you have any plans to add user polygon (boundary) creation ability to your great Excel Power Map program ?

Hi Microsoft Excel Power Map program team!
I looked @ your Excel Power Map program add on, and it’s great.
However everyone is looking for the ability for the user to create polygon (boundary) maps.
It should not be that hard to add this functionality onto such a great map program you already have.
For example: let’s say one has 10 latitude & longitude coordinates and he wants to see the polygon (boundary) of them on your great map. One should be able to just put those 10 latitude & longitude coordinates in an Excel sheet, fire up your Power
Map, select that it should be plotted as a polygon (boundary) and it will display on the map.
Does Microsoft have any plans to add user polygon (boundary) map creation ability to your great Excel Power Map program?
I would also like to see Excel Power map have USA census tracts built into it just like is has USA zip codes built into it. Census data is also very important as thousands and thousands of people need to display polygon (boundary) for census tracts.
Please let me know if Microsoft has any plans to add user polygon (boundary) creation ability to its great Excel Power Map program?
    Thank you very much!

  • Windows 7 64-bit and Weblogic Server: Any Planned Release

I went to Weblogic page to see if there was any version for Windows 7 OS 64-bit, but found none.
Is there any plan in the near future for a release... with JDK 1.6?
My development is planning to upgrade from WinxP-MyEclipse-WebLogic 9 to Windows 7-MyEclipse9-WebLogic xx, where xx is any WebLogic Server version supported by the first 2 development tools.
Please help, we need to make a decision soon.

    Hi NickDeNora,
According to your description, we need to verify if you install
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and
correct the manifest file. The manifest file is readable (although empty), but we cannot edit it (even if you are an administrator). Only SYSTEM has access to the file. So to be able to edit it, you must first take ownership of
it and grant ACLs. After saving the file, then run the setup again.

  • Although I have been using Google Maps App in India for a while now (without any issues) but I still want to know if there are any plans for launching Turn by Turn Navigation under the OOTB Map App for iOS?

Although I have been using Google Maps App in India for a while now (without any issues) but I still want to know if there are any plans for launching Turn by Turn Navigation under the OOTB Map App for iOS?
It has been quite a while since Apple came up with Map App of their own and should be releasing improved maps with more capabilities in India.
    Cheers!

No one here can answer your question, as there is no one from Apple here, & no one here represents Apple or speaks for Apple.

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.02 ABAP Trial Version - Any plan?

As [SAP Enhancement Package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0|SAP Enhancement Package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0] is available, I wonder if there will be a 7.02 version of NSP? Is there any plan?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
you may already be informed that the version you was looking for is now available at
    [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/nw-downloads|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/nw-downloads]
    It's a "NW7.02 SP6" - "XP/Vista 32-bit" version.  - no 64bit
(If you're using Win7 the XP-mode probably allows to run the system as well)
    Have fun

  • Are there any plans to fix the misinterpretation of the Exchange ActiveSync policy "Minimum number of character sets"  in IOS6?

We are testing using IOS6 in our Corporate environment and came across a scenario where IOS6 incorrectly interprets the Exchange 2010 ActiveSync policy "Minimum number of character sets" as the number of special characters required rather than the number of character sets required. Is anyone aware of any plans to correct this in future releases? Here is a thread on Microsoft's forums about the issue:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrmobility/thread/fe05 1d55-24ba-45e4-b054-67861f28422d/

We have tried Android, Windows Phone7/8 and they all adhere to the "Minimum number of character sets" set in the ActiveSync policy, but IOS does not.
Require an alphanumeric password   Select this check box to require device passwords to contain both numbers and letters. The default is numbers only.
Passwords must include this many character sets   To enhance the security of device passwords, you can require passwords to contain characters from multiple character sets. Select a number from 1 to 4. The sets are letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols. For example, if you select 3, passwords must contain characters from three of these sets.
All other mobile device except IOS 5.x/6.X don't follow this.
You have to select "Require an alphanumeric password" which is letters and numbers.  But then you can only select 1-4 for the character sets.
So we set it at 1, so that would mean you would only need letters and numbers, IOS does not reconize letters, letters uppercase, numbers or symobols as a charator set, it interprets the setting as how symbols you need.
If you set it at 2, then IOS makes you have "2" symbols in your password.....and so on...
    Make sense?
It just seems that IOS does not reconize charator sets, it just looks at the number as how many symbols you need in a password.

  • Are there any plans to fix the misinterpretation of the Exchange ActiveSync policy "Minimum number of character sets"  in IOS5?

We are testing using IOS5 in our Corporate environment and came across a scenario where IOS5 incorrectly interprets the Exchange 2010 ActiveSync policy "Minimum number of character sets" as the number of special characters required rather than the number of character sets required. Is anyone aware of any plans to correct this in future releases? Here is a thread on Microsoft's forums about the issue:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrmobility/thread/fe05 1d55-24ba-45e4-b054-67861f28422d/

Thanks for the responses. I did submit this issue as a bug report earlier this morning also but thought I'd post here in the event any Apple insiders saw this and cared to comment.
This really is a significant problem in that our testing shows that the way IOS5 interprets this ActiveSync policy in Exchange 2010 does not allow you to enforce a password using just letters and numbers. This is because  the only valid values for this policy are 1-4. The way IOS5 interprets this requires 1-4 special characters in the password, not 1-4 character sets.

  • Does Apple have any plans for iOS7S for iPods?

Now that all the current iPod touch owners are left hanging by iOS 7's memory requirement, does Jonathon Ivey have any plans to remove the iPhone code and release a smaller iOS 7S update for those millions who paid good money for a product that was made obsolete last month?

Apple has not made any announcement. Based on past history, I expect there to be no more update for the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

  • Any plan for 4k resolution

Any plans on 4K being streamed to match Netflix.

You never know but I doubt it in the near future.
One thing iTunes is lacking is an upgrade path - I bought a handful of movies in SD on the original AppleTV before HD downloads became available - an upgrade pricing to get 1080p or 4k versions would be fantastic and would appeal to those of us who buy from iTunes.  Many of us have titles on VHS, DVD, BlurRay, upgrading at each turn and of course the studios want their pound of flesh, but upgrade options would be very appealing (same for audio if they ever offer CD quality or hopefully better quality audio).

  • Are there any plans to add rowing machine data to health app

The health app is definitely good if your a runner or cyclist, however it doesn't seem to cover logging gym workout data. Does Apple have any plans to add metrics to the health app for these. In particular I use a rowing machine and it would be great if the accelerometer in the iPhone could track SPM and distance. ( ok distance is pushing it) or even just the ability to log the data in the app. This could then count to your daily step count.

  • Will there be any plans soon to support problematic captivate objects like smartshapes?

Currently there is no support for use of smartshapes as buttons in Adobe Captivate SCORM files. Are there any plans to fix this soon?

hi mjpettitt, i don't know enough about the particulars of your question to give a definite answer. however firefox is a webbrowser that aims to be standards compliant - it renders html an not any proprietary formats. so the long term "solution" of this problem would probably be for Captivate to generate output that complies with web standards...

  • Mail for Exchange sub folders, any plans?

Does any one know if there are any plans to bring out sub folder support in mail for exchange.
I think this is almost a complete show stopper as current versions of exchange are designed to work with sub folders and the rules written for those sub folders.
So no sub folders support in MfE basically makes it a dead duck IMHO

    same here !!
I make it a point to file all my mail correctly in sub-folders so my mailbox doesn't turn into a huge mess but then I have no access to may mail on my E71 !! That's pretty ridiculous...
