  • SHDSL using an external modem

    Hello,
Just wondering if it is a possible to configure a Cisco 2611XM for SHDSL using an external modem such as the RAD product ASMi-52 which does the line sync for you.
The CHAP authentication needs to be done by the router behind it (2611XM in this case).
I've never done this without a wic, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Leo,
Is PPPoE used for SHDSL? sorry for the silly question !
A standard SHDSL connection with a WIC looks like this:
    interface ATM0
    no ip address
    no atm ilmi-keepalive
    dsl equipment-type CPE
dsl operating-mode GSHDSL symmetric annex B
    dsl linerate AUTO
    interface ATM0.1 point-to-point
    description INTERNET
    pvc 1/34
    ubr 1024
    encapsulation aal5mux ppp dialer
    dialer pool-member 1
    interface Dialer1
    description INTERNET
    ip address negotiated
    ip nat outside
    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool 1
    dialer-group 1
    no cdp enable
    ppp authentication chap callin
    ppp chap hostname xxxxxxxxx@xxxxxx
    ppp chap password xxxxxxxxxx
    crypto map mymap
In my scenario, I'm not using the WIC, so I'm a bit confused as to how the configuration shouyld like as I have no ATM interface.

Use Google and you can find similar drives from other companies.

  • Is it possible to use an external hard drive for time machine backup and also as a regular hard drive?

Is it possible to use an external hard drive for time machine backup and also as a regular hard drive?

I am using an external drive in the exact way that you described. You just keep it plugged in to the computer when you want to access the movies and files. In order to put files on it, just go to finder open up the drive under devices and drag and drop files onto the drive. It is just like using a usb drive with a terabyte of space.

  • HT201250 if I used external hard disk for backup time machine, is it possible to use that external hard disk to save another else from diffrent computers?

If I used external hard disk for back up time machine, is it possible to use that external hard disk to save another else from diffrent computers?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can do this, but you should make a new volume on your external disk. Time Machine needs a volume that is only used to store backups, so you can't store other data in the same volume as the one you are using for making backups.
If you want to create another volume on your external disk, use Disk Utility to do this > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html Anyway, you should get another external disk to store other files, but if you don't want to, you can create another volume in it

  • Any possible issues using Captivate 4 on Vista 64-bit OS?

    Hi:
Looking to order a new PC and load up on ram for Captivate 4 and some other applications I am using.
I realize Captivate 4 is not certified for use on a Vista 64 bit OS, but I am wondering if I will run into a bunch of performance issues or what your experience may be using C4 on a 64 bit machine.  I heard it is possible to force Captivate 4 to run as a 32bit application, but I don't know specifically how to do it.
    Any feedback is appreciated.

None that I found.  I worked with adobe for a while and they sent me a couple of patchs that were supposed to fix the problem, and while I eventually could record audio, I never was able to edit it.  Adobe eventually lost interest and stopped responding to my requests.  I think it has something to do with Vista becasue I am running xp on a brand new 64bit Mac at home and it works fine.

I have the same problem on 64-bit Vista - the audio editor will not even open. Is there a solution to this?

  • Is it possible to use an external hard drive as the windows partition with boot camp?

I am looking to get a Macbook Pro adn was researchin the different software advantages over PC and found a program called oot Camp that allows you to run Windows on your Mac. I thought that this was interesting as it was sort of the best of both worlds. I wanted to know from people who have used this before: How well does it work? Does it slow down the computer at any noticable rate? Etc.
The last question that Ive been trying to find an answer to, but have no conclusive results, is wether you are able to select the partition as an external hard drive or not. Also how it affects your ability to use an external drive as well. Answers are much apreciated, thank you.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Boot Camp is an application that emulates a BIOS so you can install Windows on a second volume on your hard drive. It can't be installed on an external disk because Windows can't be installed on an external hard drive. It works well if you need performance

  • Is it possible to use an external hard drive to just copy files off a Mac?

I am looking into getting a WD Passport as my MacBook's hard drive has recently crashed. All I want to do is use it like I use a USB stick, so take it out, plug it into another computer occasionally and generally just store info and photos etc externally as a back up. Is TimeMachine the best thing to use or just manually take it from the MacBook and onto another PC when I need without using any software?

If you wish to use Time Machine as your backup system, it is best to use an external HDD dedicated to that one application.
If you want to use the new WD HDD on PCs as well as your Mac, the make certain that it is formatted so it is compatible with both systems,  Macs can read PC formatted HDDs but not write to them.  FAT or exFAT are two choices you may consider.
    Ciao.

  • Is it possible to use an external controller, such as the Digi002?

I use a Digi002 (mixer/transport controller) with ProTools.  Is it possible to use FinalCutPro X with the same contoller?  If so, how do I set it up?
    thanks,

    Geoff,
I believe the Digi stuff is proprietary. Digi won't let the Transport/Mixer work with any other DAW system including Apple's Logic Pro so I doubt if it's going to work with FCPX.
Digi does have an audio driver that allows the 002 to be used as a simple MIDI/Audio OSX but that's about it.

  • Possible to use TC as modem?

    Hello!
I currently use a Thompson modem (3 years+ old) to connect via ADSL (by the  telephone line) to internet. I only use the TC as bridged backup device, connected via ethernet cable to the modem.  Is it possible to make a different setup and use the TC as primary modem?
The upside of this is to take advantage of the better and/or faster wifi technology of the TC (dual wifi bands and what not) than my old modem.
    Thank you,
    Per

    LaPastenague wrote:
You do need a modem for adsl.. there is no modem in the TC. But the modem is bridged.. you cannot plug a phone line into the TC.
I should have been more specific.  You don't need a modem to dial into an ADSL account that uses PPPoE.  Put the modem in bridge mode and use the TC for the PPPoE connection and routing.

  • Using Apple external modem in Windows

I just got a new black 2.16 Macbook. I have ordered a copy of Windows XP Home SP2 and a copy of Parallels. I have a software called Meditech by Cambridge Software which allows me to connect to my hospital computer system via a modem--the Mac version stopped working a while ago on my Macs, as soon as they became G5 the modem wouldn't connect anymore. The software was written for Windows with the Mac version as an afterthought I believe. Will the network settings when run in Windows XP allow me to use my Apple External Modem (as you know, they Macbooks don't have a built in internal modem) to connect to this software?

  • Is it possible to use 2 external monitors?

    Hi,
My name is Joe Chaplow, and I am new to the forum. Hello all.
I want to set my Macbook Pro 15inch Mid 2009 model (2.8ghz with 512 dedicated vid ram and 256 for power saver mode) up so that I use two external monitors. I want to mirror the desktop (so I can slide programs from one screen to the other). If i use the mini dvi to dvi adapter and split the adapter, would this work? Thanks in advance.

No, splitting won't work. You will find a discussion about the use of USB adaptors to use multiple monitors here. Here is another article.
Matrox makes a special adaptor for adding multiple monitors to laptops.

  • Any possiblity to use single Inbound Service Interface with multiple Receiver Agreements

    Hi All,
    Scenario: PROXY to FILE.
Requirement is to receive to two locations.
Is it possible to use single Inbound interface with multiple Receiver Agreements. I tried using two operation in the Inbound Service Interface, and Operation Specific in Determination. But couldnt proceed further. Do I need to use seperate Service Interface for two receiver locations?
    Please suggest some solution.

    Hi Naveen,
There is a possibility but in the case in the same server location with dynamic configuration: Placing file in two different directories using single receiver communication Channel
With different location you would need to develop a new adapter module as Amit Srivastava explains and develops here Send File to Two Different Locations using Adapter Module
    Regards.

  • Is it possible to use an external hard drive wirelessly w Leopard?

Upgrading to Leopard seems to have ruined my wireless home network, which worked very smoothly with Tiger. After a couple of tries, I was unable to connect wirelessly to my external hard drive (connected directly to Airport). I was then unable to even access the data directly. I am right now using Data Rescue II to see how much of the data on the hard drive can be retrieved.
I tried an old external HD with airport to see if that would work, and it failed also.
Is it even possible to set up a wireless network with Leopard that will let me move data to an external HD??
    Any help is appreciated.

I may have phrased my question poorly.
Pre-Leopard, my external HD was connected directly to Airport. I used it wirelessly.
When I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Leopard, it was almost impossible to access the HD wirelessly, and then outright impossible.
I tried the same setup with another external HD and that didn't work either. When I try to access the HD wirelessly, I get nowhere.
