Any quota for mails in Mail?

Is there any quota for the number of sending mails in Mail?

Quotas, if applicable, are set by the service provider, not the application. iCloud, for example, has clearly stated limits:
iCloud: Mailbox size and message sending limits - Apple Support
You would have to ask any other mail services you use whether they impose quotas.

Having been without my Mac for a month I've been using iCloud mail.on a PC. The new mail boxes that I set up there do not automatically show up in Mail on my replacement Mac. Is there any way to transfer them from ICloud mail to Mail? Thanks.

sure pretty simple.  make a backup of your current settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US
then restore device from old backup you need pics off of
    then import pics to computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
you may need to save pics to camera roll first
then restore the new backup and sync pics back to phone via itunes

  • Any fix for the "remembering passwords" problem with MAIL?

I've been following the other threads on this topic. I am a new Mac user (all of 5 days) with 10.5.2 preinstalled on a macbook pro, so this is not a migration problem. Applecare has been unable to resolve the issue. My setup is a Verizon FIOS POP account. I've tried all the repairing, creating keychain suggestions. My incoming and outgoing accounts function properly, then they mysteriously forget the login credentials. Is there any fix for this, this seems absurd coming from a PC background? Thanks.

I just signed up for FIOS and am not experiencing your problem (had enough other ones instead).
Go to mail preferences ~ click on a mail account ~ click on the advanced tab. The only settings that worked for me were: port 110 SSL OFF, authentication: Authenticated POP (APOP). If I remember correctly when I first set this up another window opened and I typed in my password and never had to do that again.
    Hope this helps.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on some Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

  • Any way to select Ethernet ports for outgoing SMTP mail?

We've got an Xserve G4 running OS X Tiger Server 10.4.6. We're hosting two domains for Web and Mail services (call them mydomain1.com and mydomain2.com). Web service is running great, and Mail service is running fairly well except for one minor snafu I can't seem to figure out.
The problem is that outbound SMTP mail is always directed out through the same Ethernet port -- the primary Ethernet port. What I would like to have happen is that mail coming from [email protected] addresses go out through the primary Ethernet port (mail.mydomain1.com) and mail coming from [email protected] addresses go out through a secondary Ethernet port (mail.mydomain2.com). If we don't do this, there's a few mail servers out there who become paranoid and think we're spamming them -- they see mail coming from an IP address associated with the mydomain1.com domain for a user with a mydomain2.com ReplyTo address.
Does anyone know of any way to select which port gets used for outbound mail selectively? Offhand I can't see any solution except to get a second e-mail server to handle mail for mydomain2.com.
This may not impact the issue, but for incoming mail I'm making use of virtual domains (but not virtual hosts) so that mail can be received by a user in any of the following ways:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, I found the solution in case anyone else is having this same problem. What I did was:
    1. Delete the MobileMe account from the iPhone
    2. Create the POP account with the proper inbound and outbound settings
    3. iPhone will attempt to connect to the POP via SSL which fails and prompts to go sans-SSL
    4. Accept the non-SSL option and back out of the Mail setup
    5. Create the MobileMe account
    6. Tap Add SMTP server
    7. The POP account's SMTP server will be listed, turn it on
    6. Turn off MobileMe's SMTP server
    9. Back out to view accounts and select the POP account
    10. Disable the POP account (prevents duplicate emails)
It turns out that the phone will allow you to turn of SSL on POP accounts because it goes through the process of checking to see if it can use SSL -- when that fails, you have the option to turn it off. Because of the way MobileMe sets up, you don't have that option on that account which is why you need to create the POP first.

    See:
You can look at the network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs on the about:config page.
If network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs are user set (bold) then right-click and Reset them to the default value.<br />
You can also try to change the network.protocol-handler.warn-external.mailto pref to true.

  • Does anyone have any suggestions for password protecting e-mail on the i pad?

Does anyone have any suggestions for password protecting e-mail on the i pad?  Other people sometimes want to use my i pad but I don't want them to have access to my e-mail (which is on AOL)
Presently you can password protect the whole i pad by having to put in a 4 digit code to open it, but once it's open whoever is using it has access to everything you have on it.

Skydiver...that did it!!  I shut the mail app from automatically opening and now I can sign onto my AOL acct. through Safari!!  I had called Apple Care and had asked  different peope in Apple stores about this and no one but you had any suggestions!  YAY!!  Thanks!!!

Mail is asking for all my mail account passwords. They should all be in my keychain. Any suggestions? (I have over 50)

    Hi ...
    50 ??
Open Keychain Access located in /Applications/Utilities
From the Keychain Access menu bar top of your screen click Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid
Click Verify > Start. if necessary click Repair.
You may need to enter your admin password to proceed.
And, from the Mail menu bar click Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information
Go through each mail account to make sure the password is typed in on the right.

  • OS X Updates Avail Banner - How to stop, I don't want to install Mavericks.  Did Apple Sys Pref Notifications: None for iTunes, Safari, Mail but still popping up.  Thanks for any help.

IMac Desktop computer >OS X Updates Avail Banner - How to stop?  I don't want to install Mavericks.  Did Apple>Sys Pref>Notifications: None for iTunes, Safari, Mail but Banner still popping up.  Thanks for any help.

I have tried unchecking the "Automatically check for updates" in the Software Update control panel. Of course, then you have to remember to check manually periodically for security updates etc. So far, the annoying banners seem to have stopped, but maybe just because I have not waited long enough for them to come back.

Does Mail (Mavericks) have any limitations for size, numer of mailboxes, folders, messages, etc. ?

Ah, so you're not considering running OS X Server here, you're running OS X client and asking about the mail client — looks like both the Apple bot that suggested that support article and I were confused.
Mavericks Mail.app does have a few flakies that I've noticed but does work.  If Mail.app gets confused, restart it and see if it's less confused.  If the accounts get confused and start tossing the password prompt, remove and re-add the accounts.  When re-adding the accounts, don't use the Internet Accounts path, use the Mail > Preferences path.
Do make a backup or two before the Mavericks upgrade, and most definitely configure and use Time Machine or some other backup tools after the upgrade.
If you do decide to go to server (which is where I'd thought this question was originally headed), then you can download everything to your own local server — that'll take some add-on software to pull the mail from your ISP, or a set of mail-forwarding rules to push the mail, and some command-line tweaks to relay the mail out (as you're probably on a DHCP dynamic residential IP address), but that'll work, too.

  • Hi, I have recently updated my OS X to Maverick. when I did, my mail programme (Mail) will not open - for me only. There are 4 other users of the iMac, and they don't appear to have any problems.

Hi, I have recently updated my OS X to Maverick. when I did, my mail programme (Mail) will not open - for me only. There are 4 other users of the iMac, and they don't appear to have any problems.

First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop for now...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.
