Any really good reliable Framemaker books for learners?

Hi, I'm looking for any really good reliable books about FrameMaker for beginners. I found "Adobe FrameMaker 7.0 Classroom in a Book" on amazon but the reviews for it were pretty bad. Does anyone know if there is a FrameMaker book out there that would be suitable for beginners - my version of FrameMaker is 7.2. Thanks in advance for any tips. Sinead.

Thanks, Claudio. Not sure exactly how I got onto this forum. Thought I'd posted my question in the right area. Will follow your advice and post it correctly now. Am hoping experienced users of FrameMaker will be able to recommend good books. Thanks also, Ramon, for your suggestion. Yes, had already run a google search on books about using FrameMaker but it's not always so easy to know if they're any good or not. As I mentioned, reviews of some FrameMaker books on Amazon were very critical. Anyway, thanks for directing me in the right direction. :-)

Is there any way to create a book for ibookstore in windows pc?

Yes, you create in the .epub format with whatever Windows app you want to use for that and then use an Aggregator like SmashWords to upload the book to the iBookstore.  Direct upload is only possible from OS X.

  • What is the best up-to-date, reliablely accurate book for learning PowerShell?

    Hi,
In my previous thread, I asked why "get-disk" gave me an exception.  Thanks to this forum, I found out that WIN 7, doesn't support the cmdlet.  The book I'm using did not mention this information.  In fact, he distinctly lists
Windows 7, SP 1 as a viable OS for the commands he wants the reader to perform.  I lost hours on this error.
    Se la vie.
However, I now doubt the book and don't have time to ferret out additional errata.  So, if anyone has a suggestion for a trustworthy book for beginners, please share your knowledge.
    Many thanks!

This is a duplicate.  This system is gebnerating hundreds of dupes because of constant server errors.

  • Any Adobe Acrobat X Forms Books for Beginners

I'm wondering if there is any good books for a beginner who doesn't know
nothing about scripting.  I have Adobe Acrobat X Professional and I'm creating forms
and would like to learn how to do calculation using scripts to do things.  Does anyone know of any books out there?
    --Gilbert

It's not a book, but the best resource by far for learning about Acrobat JavaScript programming and working with forms is: http://pdfscripting.com  Also, see what's available at: http://www.math.uakron.edu/dpstory/pdfblog.html  #12-25 in particular.

  • Looking for a good tutorial or book for 3D composite

Hi, I do editing for 3D animation at work (simple kind) and working along with 2 other 3D modelers.
We recently came down to the conclusion that we need to composite to be able to render our animation.
However, none of us really know how to do 3D composite, including myself.
(I mean we know the simple composite using alpha channels and such... but not to the point to using z-depth or shadow maps... etc..).
I was looking around online and book store to find out if there is any good resources for us to learn. I do not have much luck of it, unfortunately.
I'd like to have our 3D modlers to know how to split to all different layers for a clean composite purpose.... (like for me to use in Shake ). From what I found out, higher end composite, you can split most of the gemoetries its own object IDs, and shadow map/layers, lighting layers... (even they render separetely, it do cast shadow as other objects surrounds it, or refection..) and then composite in one scene.
I believe we create pretty good animation when we rendered them all together in one scene, and now we are up to the point that there are too many geometeries and render farm computers can't handle to render (and they are not lower end compters but they crash when we try to render with not enough memories).
I'm not really looking for having real footage as background and 3D infront .. that kind of composite...
If there is anyone can direct me to a right book? or online website to learn more of this stuff for all of us, I'll be really appriciate it.
    Thank you for your time...

  • I need to find a good (reliable) Zip program for my MacBook Pro (the last one I downloaded installed Spyware on my system...so now I'm "gun-shy" about downloading ANYTHING to my system)

I have recently been purchasing Books in Digital formats (which come compressed) and I am not able to un-Zip them.
I have used WinZip in the past (I'm a former Windows user) but I hear that this program isn't very good on a Mac...any recommendations?
I am running Mac OS 10.6.8
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Available Storage: 212.02 GB
The last Zip program I downloaded to my system was Zipeg and it LITTERED my system (no joke, I had to go to the Genius Bar to have everything removed).

Mac OS X actually has a built-in ZIP tool that can both unzip files and zip files. However older versions of OS X do not cope well with password protected zip files and it maybe some of your zip files also use newer options your old operating systems correspondingly old zip tool does not support.
I would therefore echo the suggestion of Illaass and recommend you get the free Stuffit Expander tool.
For what its worth you now can actually buy a version of WinZip for the Mac, see http://www.winzip.com/mac/en/index.html I have not used it as I find the built-in zip tool in newer OS X versions along with Stuffit Expander sufficient. I have also written an Automator workflow which allows me to create password protected zip files.

  • Good Oracle DB book for MySQL users?

I'm new to Oracle. I have a good amount of experience with MySQL. I was wondering if there is a book written as an introduction to Oracle for people already familiar with MySQL.

    Hi,
The best place to start is at the Oracle documentation site -
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/index.html
and from there choose the 'DBAs' tab under 'Getting Started' and this has pointers to basic information.

Not read it but http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oracle-Developer-Techniques-Bulusu-Lakshman/dp/0672318466 seems to get good reviews.

  • Are there any known good home phone systems for the Home Phone Connect

I've had the Home Phone Connect now for several months.  I have had a Panasonic KX-TG7641 for a good while now.  I bought this system to connect a cell phone through the Bluetooth to make a receive calls at home.  This cell phone stayed docked in the charger next to the Panasonic base station.  There were a few extra steps involved in order to make calls using the Bluetooth and every time my mother-in-law visits it is an extensive training process to show her how to use the phone.  Every. Time. She. Makes. A. Call.
I saw the HPC and figured I could simplify the system and since the cell we kept connected was off contract, I got the HPC for free and signed up for 2 years with it. This was a mistake.  While I can always hear the callers on the line, they sometimes report that I am too garbled to understand.  Today I knew I was going to be on the phone on hold for a while, so I used my home phone handset for comfort (vice holding my Galaxy up to my head for an extended period of time)
After a 30 minute on-hold with the Veterans Administration I finally got through to an operator who informed me she could barely hear me/broken and garbled.  Where I have my HPC at it is right in a window and I have steady 2 bars on it always.  I told her I could call back on my cell phone, but she insisted we power through it so I wouldn't have to wait again on hold.  Well we eventually made it through the call.
After hanging up I used my Google powers to see what the issue it/how to fix it.  It appears that the people that have issues when using the HPC also have Panasonic phones/base stations connected to it.       This might be because Panasonic phones are widely available and are the most common ones in use, but it might also be in that something is incompatible between the 2 systems.  Odd, since the way it connects is similar to an old POTS.  Could it have something to do with the DECT 6.0 that hey use (on the 1.9GHz band) where other older devices use standard 2.4 or 5.8?

Thank you for the tip.  Sorry if it's the wrong forum.  I don't post here often.  I searched for the Home Phone Connect under devices and found it under "Other" so figured this was the best place to post it.  Could you point me to the correct place for the HPC discussions?
I'll double check later when I'm home on my computer to see iff the problems being reported are all using the DECT 6.0 (1.9GHz).  Might be causing some interference of some sort.

Has anyone had any experience of 'Mackeeper'?

Check how many applications are starting when you log in, I found that if there was a lot of activity at login Finder did not display the icons on the desktop correctly, again like you it did not occur at every login, just occasionally.
For Safari have you tried resetting Safari, if that does not help you could disable plugins and extensions one at a time. You may find one of those is causing the problem.

  • Any good book or e-book for Developer 6i(beginner's level)?

  • Good book for 1Z0-052???

Greetings. I've often used Sybex books for passing technical exams, but it would appear as though they dont have a book for this particular exam. Can anyone recommend one?

Have you been through this book?yes.
Any good/ bad to report?Amazon is also good to look at for reviews but I dont always buy from them.
The bonus test on the CD can be dog to get access to.
Threre's probably a cuple of mistakes also ... but its not the worst in this regard.
May not go into same depth as Sybex on a couple of items; but Sybex goes a little over the top sometimes.
....Become aware of [www.oracle.com/education/certification] and locate you certifcation and exam there and check occasionally for updates; the exam will be reveriifed for 11gR2 at some point in a few months and their may be updates then (the book wont be updated).
    Read [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html]
The book may focus a little too much on the exam and not enough on practice. You really need to get in lots of real practice.
Make sure you can access the original online documentation as well: [http://docs.oracle.com]

  • Good book for J2EE?

I know Servlets and JSP and i want to enhance my knowledge with programming and also i have to learn structs, ajax.
which is the good book for this.

You can log into http://en.wikipedia.org and search for EJB to see what its about, and read about what that article says about the Spring framework.
Although there are many IDEs out there, I recommended Eclipse IDE because its free and is used by a very large number of professional developers. Also, just reading books isn't much help if you don't have a platform to try things out in. Normally when you are starting out in Java, its recommended that you work with java in a text editor and run code on the dos command line to get familiar with that before moving onto an IDE. If you want to read more on this topic, one links is: http://www.javaworld.com/community/node/4587 Sorry, I'm not going to get into an IDE war on which one is best or more likely to be used by a future employer. I haven't come across any unbiased articles that really stand out on this issue.
