Any recent articles about ADF Faces Next ?

I didn't find any current links about this new version of ADF Faces which will be like Google Web Toolkit.
Did anybody some new things about it?
I found only one good link about this new stuff, but it is from year 2005:
http://www.it-eye.nl/weblog/2005/07/20/jsf-ajax-adffacesnext

Hi,
we will provide articles as we get closer to the production or any pre-release state. Once we have the components out we will provide in depth examples and discussions.

  • ADF Faces.NEXT - When is it going to be available?

    Does anyone know when the ADF Faces.NEXT is scheduled to be released? I've looked at the on-line seminars (by Jonas Jacobi) showing the features of Faces.NEXT. However there is no information on when Oracle plans to release these components.

    Hi,
    These components are still in very early development stage and as such it is hard to schedule a release date for them. You will notice on OTN when the first release is available for evaluation.

  • About the recent donation of adf faces

    Just recently I read this article:
    http://www.oracle.com/corporate/press/2007_may/javatoolspreview.html
    It said: "Marking another significant contribution to the open source community, Oracle today open sourced its ADF Faces Rich Client technology, a set of more than 80 rich, AJAX-enabled JSF 1.2 components. Based on this contribution, a new sub-project called Rich Client Framework (RCF) will be created under the Apache MyFaces project. "
    And I am getting a little bit confused.
    Does this mean that the new ADF Faces bundled with the new JDeveloper(11) will be an open sourced version?

    Hi,
    this means that ADF Faces RC that ships with JDeveloper 11 will be give to open sourced. JDeveloper 11 will not be open sourced. We did the same for ADF Faces HTML components of 10.1.3..x which are now available in open source as Apache Trinidad.
    Also, the current ADF Faces libraries in JDeveloper 11 are not the open source libraries. You can get the open source libraries only through Apache once the project goes prime time.

  • A Question about ADF Faces, File Uploading in distributed environment

    Hello,
    I am using ADF Faces for my project. In my project members will be able to create their albums and upload their photos..
    The problem is that i can do upload in a single server enviroment but i dont know what will happen when count of members will grow.. What is the best way
    for managing these photos in clustered enviroment. 1 Server will not be enough if too many people upload their photos.
    I do not have exact server number because i will add additional server nodes when it will be necessary, so i must think how to do that before production.
    Do you advice me to use XML or keep addresses of photos in database? Or anything else? As i mentioned, i dont know how many servers i will have... maybe 1 maybe 5 maybe 10.
    Thanks for your helps..

    Hi,
    First of all, thanks for your replies..
    Actually i do not want to keep all of videos and photos in database. Keeping them in directories will be better for me but i do not know how to share them between multiple server nodes..
    This is the thing that i have never done before..
    Can you please tell me the terms & keywords that i need look for? So i can find some documents about making this happen.
    Thanks again..

  • Any good article about reference variables casting ...

    Hi,
    I am looking for a good and simple article on the reference variables downcasting (and yes I am searching the Internet too so please do not suggest that).
    Please let me know if you know of any good article or if you can explain it well as I am having hard time to figure out when it is right and when it is used incorrectly.
    Thanks,
    Pritchard

    Casting conversions are "right" when you need a reference of the particular type AND the underlying object is type-compatible with the declared variable.
    "Downcasting" example:
    Object o = new Object();
    String s = (String) o; // BAD! The underlying object is not an instance of String
    Object o = "foo";
    String s = (String) o; // Okay.~

  • ADF Faces - Resons about use TopLink

    Hi everyone!
    I'm writing to yours because I want to make a document giving reasons about to use TopLink technology instead other technologies.
    Where do I get that information..??..
    I'll be waiting your responses.
    Regards.

    Just be prepared to deal with LOTS of XMLs, sometimes depending on each other, sometimes in a chain of dependencies. For example, you'll have Page Definition files (XMLs), related to DataBindings.cpx (XML), related to DataControls.dcx (XML), related to Data Controls (XMLs), etc. There will be also several other XMLs. Declarative programming has its benefits too, but it also has some downsides.
    The real trouble is that the Java compiler regards the XMLs as plain text files. If you make a change in a method signature via automatic refactoring, for example, the XMLs will remain unchanged (i.e. will become invalid) but will not report compile-time errors. When you run the application, you'll eventually notice that some things don't work anymore, but quite often the framework's log is empty or insufficient. So, you know something is wrong but you don't know what or where. You may spend many hours scouting throughout the XMLs trying to find one single letter somewhere that is wrong but that didn't get detected at compile time.
    There are nice things about ADF Faces and the rest of ADF. You can even force some of the XMLs to be re-generated automatically after you make a change, e.g. the Data Controls. But because of much bad experience, XMLs are universally disliked in our team. If only there was at least some XML syntax checking and validation at compile time, so that we could see the exact errors...

  • ER - Problem with ADF Faces filter when running ADF Faces within a portlet

    I am attempting to get ADF Faces to run within Oracle Portal, i.e. within a portlet using the JPDK.
    This, I am sure you are about to tell me, is not something that is fully supported, as yet.
    However, I have been successful in getting MyFaces to run within a portlet, by customizing the form tag.
    MyFaces, it seems, keeps track of the current viewid by storing it in the session, then uses this within the viewhandler and navigationhandler to determine the next view to load, based on the faces-config.xml navigation entries.
    By customizing the form tag it is then possible to retrieve this viewid from the faces context and outputting it in the form's action parameter.
    It is also possible, with a few more customizations, to run JSF RI within a portlet, i.e. by adding a custom viewhandler and loading a session variable with the current viewid from the faces context, then retrieving the viewid and outputting it as the action string in the customized form tag .
    Unfortunately there does not appear to be any way of getting ADF Faces (EA19 version) to run as a portlet, with either the RI or with MyFaces.
    I have configured a basic .jspx document in the <showPage> tags of the provider.xml file.
    This uses only the form tag and a few input tags and works when executed directly within my portlet project in JDeveloper (http://localhost:8988/TestJSFAppContext/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx) using a redirectfilter (*.jspx htdocs -> /faces/htdocs).
    It is not possible to run ADF Faces with RI as a portlet since customization of the ADF Faces ViewHandler appears not to be supported.
    When attempting to run this with MyFaces as a portlet, however, I get the following message:
    oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilterImpl verifyFilterIsInstalled
    WARNING: The AdfFacesFilter has not been installed. ADF Faces requires this filter for proper execution.
    I am having difficulty in understanding as to why this is happening but am guessing it must be something to do with either redirect URLs or due to the .jspx files being under /htdocs, i.e. the ADF Faces renderkit is checking that the ADF Faces filter is configured but the check fails since the filter does not execute.
    I have configured the filter in web.xml, as detailed in the documentation:
      <filter>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <filter-class>oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter</filter-class>
      </filter>
      <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
      </filter-mapping>
    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
      </servlet>
      <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
      </servlet-mapping>and have modified the provider.xml file as follows:-
          <renderer class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.RenderManager">
             <renderContainer>true</renderContainer>
             <renderCustomize>true</renderCustomize>
             <autoRedirect>true</autoRedirect>
             <contentType>text/html</contentType>
      <showPage>/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx</showPage>
             <editPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditPage.jsp</editPage>
             <editDefaultsPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditDefaultsPage.jsp</editDefaultsPage>
          </renderer>with the following tags also set:
       <session>true</session>
       <passAllUrlParams>true</passAllUrlParams>In order to ensure that the session stays alive so that the views are retrieved.
    As I say, the page loads OK when run directly within the JPDK project within JDeveloper, with a redirect filter (*.jspx -> /faces/*.jspx) but not when run from within Oracle Portal.
    In fact I have found that this filter is very sensitive, i.e. ADF Faces will not run in any project unless the configuration is exactly as above.
    It seems that the MyFaces team have got around the problem of maintaining session state with redirections but that ADF Faces needs the page URL that is passed in to the filter to be consistent.
    Is there some way around this, i.e. some kind of customization that I can implement to get the filter working?
    Thnks

    I have found a way to go round the problem.
    I use the servlet 2.4/jsp 2.0 route and then
    change the web.xml header to the servlet 2.3/jsp 1.2
    format. Everything then works fine after this!
    Please fix this for production.

  • ADF Faces - Panel Accordion rendering issue

    Hi, I am trying to follow this tutorial about adf faces:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_55/jdtut_11r2_55_2.html
    but when I click on the detail items in the accordion component, the objects inside desappears and I could see a strange rendering behavior with the rest of the objects.
    No errors are shown in the console. I tested it in chrome, ie8 and firefox with the same result.
    Software used: jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0, weblogic 11gR1 on win7.
    Any ideas?

    You are aware that the sample is for jdev 11.1.2.x, so this may well be the reason why you see this behavior.

  • Adding ADF faces in Sun studio Creator

    Pls Help me by giving step by step procedure for adding ADF Faces in sun Studio Creator. The version of ADF Faces is EA 17.

    Hi Pablo and Eric,
    Just to calrify things a bit about ADF Faces. ADF Faces are standard JSF components and are fully compatible with any JSF implementation. What you guys are asking for is tools support. Currently Sun Studio Creator is experience difficulties importing any large custom component sets to their IDE. This is due to bugs in their prodcut and the fact that ADF Faces does not come with the Sun specific configuration required to import components to their IDE. We are working with them on a new proposal for design time metadata and a solution to get ADF Faces into to the Sun SC IDE.
    But, this is ultimately a Sun issue, not a JDeveloper nor ADF Faces issue.

  • Oracle.adf.faces.STATE compressed?

    Dear all,
    i have a question about how adf faces saving its view sate.
    in jsf (1.1_02), i can specify a context-parameter com.sun.faces.COMPRESS_STATE=false to avoid compressing the state information.
    adf faces seem store the view info in a hidden form field "oracle.adf.faces.STATE"
    is there any similar parameter in adf faces?
    or adf faces don't compress the state info?
    thank you.

    Jonas,
    It works if I include the following:

  • ADF Faces Form problem

    Hi all,
    I'm using JDev. 10.1.3, ADF Faces + Toplink infrastructure to build pages in my system.
    My problem can be solved easily via old jsp architecture but I don't know how to achieve by using ADF Faces.
    I want to create a simple form in ADF Faces just like below;
    <form name="pay_form"
    action="https://www.payformstore.com/servlet/payServlet"
    method="post">
    <input type="hidden" name="clientId" value="ABC45"/>
    <input type="hidden" name="amount" value="5.00"/>
    </form>
    But in ADF Faces, as you know when a form created (af:form or h:form), the included command button in form is only fired to call the method in backed bean of relevant .jspx page. All things there must be achieved are handled in backed bean so I can't use the servlet address in action in simple form
    (https://www.payformstore.com/servlet/payServlet). I tried to use external context to redirect to this address/ servlet (https://www.payformstore.com/servlet/payForm) but servlet does not accept this redirection, it only accepts http post and gives the HTTP 405, method not allowed error.
    So I tried to use simple html <form ..> </form> tag in my adf faces page (.jspx page) in
    <f:verbatim> tag but I can't pass parameter from managed bean to input type hidden fields. (<input type=hidden name="a" value="#{payForm.parameter1}"/>) Also I have used jstl to pass parameter via <c:out ...> to input type hidden field in this simple form but it was useless.
    So please tell me how to create a simple form which has a action parameter and post method with dynamically binded form fields (just like input type hidden or any other fields) in adf faces pages.
    If there will be no answers I may use simple jsp pages in the end.
    best regards....

    Hi frank, I solved problem in a different way.
    First of all, I have developed the required form by coding with the pure JSP + HTML.
    There is no <HTML>, <BODY> tags in this new jsp file. Before calling this jsp file, I stored the required managed bean into HTTP Session as an object and in this jsp file, the hidden form fields are filled by this session object. In my ADF faces file, I have included this jsp form field with,
    <f:verbatim>
    <jsp:include ...>
    </f:verbatim>
    and there is no problem, Everything is, now, ok!
    thanks for your interest.
    best regards...

  • ADF Faces with NetBeans

    Hi,
    This is Sandip Kulkarni.
    I want to know that, how can we use or integrate ADF Faces with NetBeans 6.1 or NetBeans 6.5?
    Please assist me with the solution as early as possible........
    Thanking you

    Sandip,
    In all honesty, if you want to do ADF development - JDeveloper is the only game in town... yes, I know you can make it work, but it's not going to be productive. If you are talking about ADF Faces only, you may be able to configure the taglibs + etc in Netbeans, but not sure it's going to be fun. If you want to bring ADF Business Components into the mix, it's going to be unworkable.
    One thing you could look at doing is to use something like maven - and then use Maven to generate the Netbeans artifacts.
    Caveat: I've not done this before and cannot comment on how workable it will be.
    Why don't you want to use JDeveloper?

  • Support for ADF Faces

    Hi Everyone,
    We are planing to use ADF Facses for our upcoming prjoject. so for that we want some sample application or demonstration because the list of component is available in the oracle site is not very rich may be not updated, how can i get detail information about ADF Faces.
    How to get latest trial version of ADF Faces and how to configure ADF with MYEclipse
    Thanks
    Meraj

    Meraj,
    ADF Faces components are as they show in the JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 component palette. The Apache MyFaces open source project Trinidad contains new components that will be in JDeveloper 11. Note that unlike other vendors, Oracle doesn't make trial versions available but always the full version (we don't mind developers using our stack for longer than 30 days ;-) ).
    To configure ADF Faces in Eclipse, just make sure you have MyFaces or JSF-RI installed in Eclipse and adf-faces-api.jar and adf-faces-impl.jar configured for ADF face. The adf-faces-impl.jar fiel contains the tag libraries
