Any references on installing fluxbox completely and running it? Thanks
steps on how to install a gui for fluxbox (i'm a noob!)
thanks guys! I know you could help!
hey if you don't really need of GNOME you don't need GDM and if u won't use KDE you don't need KDM..
just look for "xdm" or another login screen manager
btw: you should check for the X-server (in ARCH) because in ubuntu you already have it installed and configured
edit: look the wiki entry here

is there any way how i can download and run Window based games, with out installing Windows-thus Bootcamp? and if so, is it free?
No, you must install Windows to run Windows software. You do not need to use Boot Camp (yes, it's free because it comes with OS X.)
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive. -

I am running Vista (32 bit) and I was trying to update to new HP software. Tried using full software install from file on HP website (release 14.0 full version). When I try to install, it will not recognize the usb connection of the software. I tried going back to version that came with the printer and had a similar problem. Now I am stuck not being able to get either version 12 (which came with the system) or version 14 (new update on website).
I need help trying to figure out how to get the software to go through and connect properly using usb and having the scan function working.......
Any ideas.Hi,
Have you tried plugging the USB into a differnt port at the back of your PC?
IS the USB directly connected to your PC and not through any USB hub or extention?
Do you see any response while plugging the USB to your computer?
If yes, please clarify.
I would also suggest trying a different USB cord, not longer than 2-3 meters long and check for any difference.

Recently, I tried installing a third party theme in my macbook pro (OSX mavericks_10.9.5 installed). Once installation got over i could notice that it was not properly installed in my retina display so i thought of reinstalling the same. Re-install could not be done properly because the theme was a hacked version. The installer theme packages effected the GUI of my system and thus it upgraded some of my core services applications to its custom theme format. So is there any solution to revert those services back to its default state.? Or is there any any way to get these installed format back to older format(icons and stuffs).?Or will it resolve the issue if i try installing the new OSx Mavericks (Productivity tool) from the AppStore?.Please let me know if you guys have got something the issue.
Please help me.Paul--you are a life-saver!! Worked great. I did have to look around to make sure I was getting 4.9 instead of 4.7 (even when the file was named 4.9 at techspot.com), but I finally got the right file, did the install as you suggested, and everything is now fine. One note, though, that I haven't seen mentioned in any of this thread: when I first tried to open up iTunes after getting back to 4.9, the following message appeared: "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." I merely went to the old .itl file that was created when I did the update to iTunes 5, renamed it, moved it over to my now new 4.9, and iTunes opened fine. My library was a few days out of date, because of the few days' lag from the time I did the iTunes update, but that was easily taken care of, and everything's now working fine. Thanks again!!!

Media Manager Install Interrupted and Running Vista
I was trying to install Media Manager on my PC with Vista. The file downloaded fine but when the install wizard started, I was immediately getting a message that the install was interrupted. I searched around the internet and found that there was a conflict with Quicktime. I tried to uninstall Quicktime but was getting an error code of 2738. I needed to run a script (regsvr32 vbscript.dll) from Accessories, Command prompt. Once I did that, I uninstalled Quicktime and was able to successfully install Media Manager. Just wanted to post this in case someone else had the same problem...
Thank you for your post. A lot of users are experiencing this issue. Great find !!

How do you send a fillable pdf for completion and signature? Thanks!
Goodmorning, I just saw that you can send a fillable pdf for signature and this will allow the person to fill out the contract, sign and email back. The one time I tried that it did not work. What are the steps, or a link to the directions, to do this?

Can I install XP in a (partitioned) external drive and run it on my Macbook
I just bought a Macbook (late '08), but for work I need to use Windows XP. I have a 500 MB external drive, too.
Could I partition my external drive, install XP there and run it on my Macbook from there?
How would the external drive be affected as far as storing content from both OS's?
Thanks.Hi Sergio,
Thanks. What if I partitioned my macbook's hard drive (I see everybody is talking of boot camp, but I haven't looked it up yet), say 70% mac and 30% xp, then I could run xp no problem, right?
Yes, that should work out. XP itself needs about 10GB of HD space to run perfectly and add to that the amount of space you need for your Windows applications.
BootCamp is part of OSX Leopard, see here: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
And could I save my content from both OS in the ext drive without distinction and be able to fish it out, or should I partition my drive too?
If 'save' = backup, then you can use WinClone http://twocanoes.com/winclone/ to make an image file of your Windows partition and for OSX backup you can use TimeMachine (part of OSX) or SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner which can make a bootable backup of your OSX partition onto your external HD.
http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
If you simply want to save your files onto your external HD and have no single files that are bigger than 4GB you can make one partition on your external HD nd use the FAT32 file system (called MS-DOS in OSX Disk Utility).

I´m a student, working with indesign CS3- it won´t
install again completely and all other adobe programs are not willing
to work (f.e. reader). What can I do?Hi Mylenium
After updating the adobe license didn´t work any longer for the
second time, since I bought. First time CS3 cleaning tool was the
solution. But this time it is not possible just to open the
CS3cleaning tool document(PDF)- not with adobe reader, also not with
foxit for example. I removed all adobe stuff to install again, but
installation doesn´t work for the important components- photoshop
etc. At first also adobe reader didn´t work (System told me, to
install photoshop before:-) But after some deinstallation and
reinstallation now just the new downloaded adobe reader X happily
works again. Only solution to reinstall the whole system?? (medion
professional PC, windows vista 5,0 - 2 GB, 32 Bit)
Thank you for help

Can't Tell If I'm Up And Running on iCloud...Help...
The other night I upgraded my Mac Pro to OSX Lion 10.7.2 from the App Store.
Once it was done, I got a screen asking me to sign up for iCloud and it started transfering everything....but it froze, and I had to re start.
So now, I look at iTunes and everything (including a song I downloaded last night) says "Waiting." I DID receive and email from Apple saying "Welcome to iCloud" but I just don' think I've completed the procedure.
Any advice on how to get up and running?
Thanks
TomTom...
Open System Preferences. If you don't see iCloud under Internet & Wireless then the iCloud account is not setup.

How to find out BPEL process server is up and running?
Hi All,
We are invoking a synchronous BPEL process from our application.
Incase of any network failures, we want to switch to other flow.
Is there any way to find out the BPEL process server is up and running?
Thanks,
Uma.Try accessing the dynamic wsdl (http://server.com:7777/orabpel/default/service/1.0/service?wsdl)
from your application. If there's no error opening this page using http get, the server is alive :)

How to install Oracle Form and Report 6i on existing database
Hi all please help me,
My system is rhel 3 (update 6). My question is how can i install Oracle form and report 6i on my machine, which is already have database 10g R2? I known i have to create two separate ORACLE_HOME. Since i already had database 10g R2, can i just go head install Oracle form and report 6i on separate ORACLE_HOME? or i need to remove database 10g R2 first, and then install Oracle form and report 6i
Thanks in advances<< Why Forms/Reports 6i and not something later, BTW? >>
Presumably he has to support a client/server application. They haven't all disappeared overnight, despite what Oracle tell everyone. -
