Any screen recorder tool to recommend?

Hi!
I would like to record a screen session. I tried "qt-recordmydesktop" application, but the recording isn't realtime: sometimes it is too fast, and lot of frames are missing (frame skip). Which screen recorder should I use for optimal result? I would like to be played the recording at the exact speed as I did the things on my screen.

Check simplescreenrecorder.

  • Screen Recording Software (Video Screen Cap)

I have been googling for a bit and cannot seem to find any recent results for video screen recording tools for Linux, and certainly nothing on the Archlinux forums.
However, my research led me to believe that XVidCap is the most popular (as of about 3-4 years ago).  I was wondering if this is still the case or if there are other programs out there.  Also it's page on SourceForge shows the last update being about 4 years ago.
BTW- I am interested in all DE's and do not mind using a command line program.
    Thanks for your help!

I use recordmydesktop and love it! It also has GTK+ and Qt versions in the official repos (gtk-recordmydesktop/qt-recordmydesktop). The recordmydesktop program itself runs from the command line

  • How can I use QuickTime to make a screen recording that has both video and audio?

How do use QuickTime to make a screen recording that can be saved with both video and audio together?

do you know of any software that would record a QT movie playing on my Mac screen with both audio and video?
I have used Ambrosia's Snapz Pro X ($69) for years, but they are currently upgrading their Kext (Kernel Extension) software for changes inroduced by the Lion release so it might not be your best bet at this time. I also use ScreenFlow but it is a combination capture and editing utility which runs $99 and may include more features than you may need or will use. Have also tried Screenflick ($29) which, to some extent, appears to have a functionality somewhere between that of Snapz Pro X and ScreenFlow. It is a bit more complicated to set up but for the price might be the best bargin at this point. All three can capture the entire screen or a portion thereof, with or without mic/line and/or system audio. (Or at least they all will as soon as Ambrosia updates its Kext routine.)
Here is a URL link posted by QTKirk three days ago to an article that recaps of a number of currently available third-party screen capture apps from around the world several of which may interest you: http://mac.appstorm.net/roundups/utilities-roundups/10-screen-recording-tools-fo r-mac/

    Hello
I'm looking for Screen Recorder software for 10.4 - I understand there's a version of Quick Time which actually has a built-in feature to enable 'on-screen' recording.  I would also pay for such a software program.
I searched the internet and came up with this, (10.4 Min Syst. Requirement).

That is the cheapest I've seen, but beware...

I think Quicktime Pro had such an option, good luck finding that though!

  • Screen recorder apps scam?

    Hi,
I recently downloaded several screenrecorders and what I found was that they are essentially all the same, like in they all seem to use the same code. Most of them are made either by Yuchen, David Pete or Brad Bertram.
Sound recording through the computer doesn't work at all and some bought apps are worse than the free ones
Like Screen Recorder Tool works fine (except for the computer audio) but Video Flow costing 7,99 euros is crap and guess what: Both are from the same developer! (David Pete)
So, is this some sort of scam or something?

You should have read the apps' descriptions and user ratings. All sales on the App Store are final. http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#APPS

  • Editing screen recording so that only the application screen is shown

I am doing a screen recording of an application that uses a browser. I need to be able to remove surrounding the application. Preferably even any sign of a browser. Do not find any info on the editing features of Quicktime Pro, so not sure if I should upgrade or not. Would rather not, if it cannot do what I need it to do. Do not find any concrete answer on apple quicktime website...

QuickTime Player Pro (7.6.3) doesn't have any screen recording features.
QuickTime X does have screen recording but it is only for the entire display (not a window). You could record in X and overlay the file with a video "mask" using the QuickTime Player Pro that could remove any unwanted area.

  • Slow transition from Screen Recording back to Captivate Tool

I am new to captivate so excuse me if I do not know all the training/tool jargon yet.
I am trying to do a screen capture of a web based tool to train a client. I have done a few of these, and they worked pretty well, but longer recording seem to bog down. Obviously this makes sense, but the current recording is taking forever and I can not tell if the software is locked up or working. I just get the spinning ball on the mac when I try to bring up Captivate.
It seems like in the past if I hit Command Return, it started closing the recording. In the past when it acted like it was hanging up, I would just click to open Captive and it would show me a that it was working. Currently I am not getting that when I bring up the captivate software. I still see the red outline for the recording area and this has been 30 minutes or so. Is it possible that it is still working or do you think there is a problem?
The screen recording was long, but this seems really long to transition.
So I guess I need to know if this is common. And second what I should do now? Should I let things run over night or is the tool still recording? If so this could just keep recording and fill up the hard drive (I guess).
Any ways to cancel the recording if it is still recording? Is there any way to check this? Is there a realistic (or estimated timeframe) to wait for this transition? For every minute you can expect to wit 2 minutes to finalize and move the recording over to captivate (or similar). Is there another way to end things or know what is going on?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
Maybe I should do screen recordings with quick time and then add audio in captivate. Thoughts?

What are you upload/download speeds at each location?

  • Recommend screen recorder for games

I want to record the gameplay.
Suggest me a good screen recorder please.

    Arc676--
Can you help with this from an Oct 2010 post?  I'm having the same trouble in OS 10.6.8--random dropouts in QT Screen Recordings using QT Player 10.0 (131).  The original poster said the problem only happens when recording sound, but I need sound.  If you can help, please email me at blockard @@ iname . com.  Thanks!
"Sometimes it records fine and I end up with a full recording, sometimes the middle is gone, sometimes just the end. The file size doesn't seem to matter; I have some good recordings that are nearly 500MB, and some that failed when they are only 30MB (and I have well over 300GB free)."

  • Quicktime player screen recording prefs

    Hi,
Since the upgrade to Mavericks I noticed the screen recording file size has increased by a factor of at least 5.
In the Lion, I had the option to set the Quality from High to Medium, that option is missing now from the Screen Recording drop down options.
Looking at previous screen captures, I saw it used about 2.5 FPS, whereas now it uses about 60 FPS. That is most probably what's making the file size so big.
Is there any way to tweak those options, especially FPS but also the Sound (I need Mono and the default is Stereo).
    Thanks,
    Adrian

I can't help but wonder why they even botherd making the video recording software if they diidn't include audio .
I tend to consider such features add-ons because to appeal to novice users because the features are incomplete as far as functonality is concerned or too dependent on the CPU power of the platform on which it is used. This is why I tend to use dedicated import and/or screen capture applications. Normally, I would recommend using an app like Snapz Pro X from Ambrosia ($69) but they too are having problems updating or replacing their audio "kernel extension" following system audio changes made in the Lion OS release. ScreenFlow ($99) is another good screen capture app but it includes a number of editing features that many users do not want or for which they are not willing to pay such a high price. I personally amd looking at what, for me, is a new app listed in an article URL posted by QTKirk. The app is called Screenflick and lists for $29. I am interested in it because they claim you can tap into user events like key presses (e.g., use of keyboart shortcuts) and highlight/include them in your captures. (I.e., this would be very handy for the makie of "quickie" tutorials.) In any event, I have not tried this app so I can't yet recommend it based on personal use... but it might be worthing looking at if you plan to purchase such a utility. (And yes, it does claim to support the audio capture of both system audio and/or a user selectable mic source.)

  • After exporting screen recording, just shows a black video.

I've recorded an hour and a half of screen recorded footage. it plays back just fine. It exports fine too! the problem is, once I try to open it after exporting it to desktop,iTunes etc., it doesn't have audio or video. Just a black screen for the whole duration. it'll still play, but it plays all black, no audio... Ultimately, I just want it on my third generation iPad. It wont play back with iTunes, on my iPad or even with Preview. I've tried exporting it in iPad format and in normal 720P mode.  so .m4v and .mov .My iMac is 1080P so I should be able to export a 720P screen recording. I was thinking that was the problem. it wont show video to a 480P video when I exported it 720P.. i didn't wanna export 1080P cause it was like 9 GB! any help please? i've messed around with this for days.

    Hi ChuckSott
Some questions to help us help you!
    # Which websites are causing this problem? A few examples would be grand!
    # Does this problem occur in FF35 for Android?
    # If you could post a screenshot of the tab's full display being blacked out that would be super helpful
    # Have you tried temporarily uninstalling all the add-ons in Tools -> Add-ons? Sometimes add-ons break Firefox!
    # Finally what version of Android OS are you using? (ice cream sandwich 4.0, jellybean 4.1-4.3, kitkat 4.4? etc)

  • Best Screen Recording Software for Mac?

Looking for recommendations on a good computer screen recording program, as I'm trying to make a tutorial video, and need to be able to record what I am doing on my computer screen.
Would prefer free, but don't mind paying a bit - quality is most important. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!

    2nd vote:
    without doubt - Screenflow
    why ?
because, it is not only a 'grabber', but it includes an 'editor', drop-dead-simple as iMovie, which includes many features ESPECIALLY made for tutorials - e.g. you can zoom-in after recording without quality-loss, you can change cursor-size, highlite, 'print' pressed keys on screen, add a pic-in-pic (if you like your face in your tuts ) ..
    side-note: screen-grabs are off the standards, iM or FinalCut/express support! so, a built-in editor is a ++ ! (the exports/uploads from a SF-project are superb!)
not cheap, but worth every cent!

  • How to (visually) crop a screen recording???

OK, QuickTime X is great at making a screen recording, and I now have a 1680x1050 .MOV. Great.
What I want is to crop it, so that the video depicts for example 600x600 pixels in one are of the screen. How do I crop the resulting screen recording to achieve this? Tools readily available include QuickTime 7 PRO, iMovie 06 and Final Cut Express 4. With FCE I achieved a 1680x1050 recording where the 600x600 video played inside a huge black border. No good.

Adobe Reader cannot edit PDFs in any way.

  • Epiphan screen record imported to PP CS5 problems

    Hello,
I am using the Epiphan VGA2PCI-e internal screen recorder to record an external device. External device is running at 60Hz and the recorder is too. I am getting a very smooth .avi clip. I used the compressor that they recommended "Epiphan recommends using ffvfw MPEG-4 Codec for signal capture."
When imported into PP CS5 and increase the scale I get this:
Basically it is blurry unlike the .avi played in WM player.
I setup the sequence like this:
    Editing Mode: Desktop
    Timebase: 60 fps
    square pixel
    Progressive scan
    checked Maximum render quality
Is this a terrible compressor / codec to use?
Why does the .avi look great but terrible when imported?
    Thanks in advance

DUDE - you and I are having the EXACT same problem.  See my post: Capturing webcam as DVAVI type-2
I'm using one of ephiphans VGA to USB devices too.  YES - every codec I've tried is crap in Premiere and After effects, even though it plays fine in Windows Media.  In After Effects, I got repeated, jerky frames etc.  And rendering it didn't help.  So, I re-encoded the whole thing in Media Encoder.  It played fine in AFX then, the problem is that it encodes at about a rate of 10hours/per hour of video.
You don't have to use the Epiphan software to capture, as your computer sees the device as just an ordinary webcam.  It seemed like an easy thing:  just download the cedocida DV codec, load it in to any number of software titles and capture as DVAVI type 2.  As a 2nd choice, I'd take H.264, as long as it plays back smoothly in Premiere or AFX.  I've tried both (with DV codec just mentioned and the x264vfw codec).  Terrible results either way.  I've tried Virtual dub, Captureflux, Epiphan, Debut Video and GraphEditplus. Failure in every case.
I'm suspicious that our problem may stem from the inconstant frame rates that the epiphan device spits out.  Debut video allows you to change the frame rate of the device.  It thought this would fix it - setting it at 29.97 or 30.  But it doesn't. The software crashes.  I also had high hopes for GraphEditPlus, as the software allows so much flexibility.  But so far, I have not figured out how to import the DVAVI type2 codec.  And I don't know how to force the frame rate in graphedit either, but I haven't looked in to this much.
Oh, and here's the Cedocida codec: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/cedocida_dv_codec.htm
Epiphan can see it, but it can't encode to it because of the frame rate (gives an error message).  I haven't tried the Panasonic codec, but I've heard it's outdated and really buggy anyway.
I still think our best bet is software that can force the frame rate somehow, whether with the DV codec or H.264
I am working pretty much full-time trying to find a solution to this problem, as I need something ready to go by next Monday.  If you find a fix - PLEASE POST IT!!!

  • Free Screen Recording Software Reccomendations?

    hey guys
i'm looking for a free screen recording program..
    does one exist?
i've found a couple programs that let you pick and record an area of the screen but they are all demos
    any recommendations?
    thanks

I don't know of any for free either. You might want to check out iShowU which only costs $20 and works well. I had SnapzPro which costs significantly more and I much prefer iShowU.
Again I realize it's not free but it's reasonable.
