Any secondary schools in Central London (UK) using iPads?

I am trying to find a school in London UK that have already or have plans to use iPads in Secondary School on a larger scale.
I am planning a field trip for educators from Denmark who would like to know more about teaching and iPads.

From what you report I am not sure why it is not working.
With an iPhone you could get issues in Different countries depending on your roaming contract and whether you get get given temporary access to the Local network.
However with the Apple ID you should be able to get it anywhere.
With Mac OS X10.82 and above the Mac version though uses the Serial number of the computer to "prove" it is you.
Although your IP may change if a laptop or even change because it is dynamic from the ISP the serial number will not change.
I also know that with the AIM service some people have had issues when using Apple IDs ending in @mac.com in particular when they have been used abroad.
I see two possibles.
Add an Alternative email to the iPod Touch
Or try removing the Apple ID then putting the device in Airplane Mode for a few minutes then add back the Apple ID (I.e. re-register the Apple ID from your current location)

Yes I know. I work for an Investment Bank and luckily I had my iPhone to hand. The bank is/was considering the iPAD as an option for travellers but Apple need this to be sorted first. In the meantime simply remove the batteries from the keyboard when travelling. Other than this problem it's fantastic. I got loads done on the plane and happy to report I got 9hours of typing, music and video out of it during a flight from Heathrow to Vancouver and it was still showing 20% power left !!!! Brilliant !!!! Oh ... and Airport security didn't ask me to take it out of my briefcase like they do with my laptop.

I know the discussion has included Ebay, Craigslist and an Apple refurb. But what is the previous iPad model so I know what to look for on these sites? I don't need cell; only wifi. And do they sell refurbs on the Apple site or is there another site?

There aren't any truly "good" places to buy a used iPad other than from someone you know. Purchasing from any other seller is taking a risk, as you'll see if you peruse these forums for the number of threads where someone purchased a used iOS device only to find that it has Activation Lock and the seller can't be contacted or won't remove the lock. If you must buy a used iPad, at least buy from a vendor that has a return or dispute policy such as eBay or Amazon. I would avoid Craigslist like the plague; you have no recourse when purchasing from one of their ads.

Central User Administration using EP

Hi,
Can any body tell me how we can do central user Administration using EP. My landscape has multiple SAP systems, BW system and EP system. How should we go about it?

HI Sujesh,
EP is not able to serve as a hub for central user administration in my opinion.
You can connect EP to several user stores like LDAP servers (including Microsoft ActiveDirectory) and SAP Systems.
So
a) you store all your users in an LDAP and connect all your SAP systems to that LDAP
b) you declare one of your SAP systems as central user administration (CUA) "master", connect all other as "slaves" and connect the EP UME to the master
But in any way - there is no GUI inside the EP where you can administer all user related things like roles from all systems, etc. This can only be done in an ABAP system.

BT Infinitity availability in Central London

Hi
I live in Central London, less than 100 meters from the exchange beneath BT Tower, which I suspect is one of the more modern ones in London...yet BT Inifnity is not available!
I'm also the chairman of the residents association in our building (244 Flats, 800 residents) and I could quite easily arrange to mass a list of other residents who would gladly sign up to BT Infinity after BE/O2 sold out and we we forced to move to the shockingly bad Sky broadband.
Please can someone explain if there is anthing I/we can do to increase whatever threshold you have to make BT Infinity a viable option

If you use this checker it will tell what cabinet you are on and what services it can receive.

If it does not show a cabinet number it will be because you are on an Exchange Only(EO) line. This means you can not get Infinity because you are not connected to a cabinet, instead you are connected directly to the exchange.
Sometime in the future Openreach may install a cabinet out side the exchange and this will allow EO lines to connect to a cabinet. This however is not high on their priority list so may take some time.
Use your phone number. If you don't have a BT number use the address checker. It is more accurate than the post code checker which can cover more than one cabinet.

FREEZE every 5min/Central London

Hi there,
Here is my problem,
I just moved in a new flat clother to central London and since I am in this flat my connection is horrible.
I did some speedtests and the connection is good 15Mbps Upload and 1.5Mpbs download.
I check with the BT engine aswell and I got the same result.
The problem is when I am playing or uploading big files.
When I am playing I have freezes of 10sec every 2min.
On all the devices connected to the box its written "CONNECTION UNSTABLE".
I tried to disconnect every device and let only my computer plugged to the box but no changes.
On my previous flat everything was perfect, nice connection zero disconnection, zero freeze etc...
I tried different things that I have been reading on the forum but nothing changed.
I have the BT hub 3.
I would really appreciate if someone could help me as I am working from home and I have lot of files to send everyday.

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
are you using wireless or wired conenction? if wireless have you tried wired to see if improves things?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

SSIS can only recognize the absolute path of a XML Configuration file, the relative path is not supported. Furthermore, if the XML Configuration file is already generated, we can use the Environment variable package configuration type instead so that
SSIS runtime automatically looks for the configuration file from the path defined in the environment variable. This is convenient when we need to deploy a package to different environment. We only need to define the environment variable for package configurations
once on each server, and then the variable can be used by all the packages on this server.

What do you mean by administer?
When you set up the account you have to enter a birthday and it has to results in being 13 years old or older.
You can set a Restriction that hides the iTunes and App store and another one to prevent in-app purchases. See:

Is there any way to get around having to use iDVD to burn DVD?

Is there any way to get around having to use iDVD to export FCE to DVD?
I've been trying to burn a FCE2 sequence to DVD. A friend of mine told me all I had to do was put a blank DVD in, click on the icon on the desk top, export the sequence to Quicktime and drag the QT sequennce into the DVD icon and click burn.
Well something happened! But there's nothing on the DVD!! What am I doing wrong? I loathe iDVD. i don't want to author. I just want to burn the project on a DVD. Please advise. Thanks.

If you export a sequence at full resolution to can burn it onto a DVD as a data DVD, but this is for transportation purposes only. At full resolution the DVD, especially as it fills up, will not have sufficient throughput to sustain good playback of the material. That's why the material is encoded into MPEG-2 for DVD authoring. If you want to make a DVD for set-top playback it has to be authored to include the DVD format structure. There is no way around that. If you don't like iDVD, take a look at Final Cut Studio, you might prefer DVD Studio Pro. Or you might what to look at Roxio's Toast. It has basic authoring capabilities. Personally I don't think direct playback hardware solutions (except for seriously expensive ones) produce acceptable quality, but that's just me.

You don't have to disable any addons or extentions!!!You guys are not going to believe this I figured out the problem it's really dumb...ok here goes the attachment uploader loads seperate so I got to thinking it's a popup so I went to options content and under block pop ups there is an option exceptions click on that and in the box type firefox.com and hit allow pow its fixed!!!!! :-)
