  • How to center page in any size browser window

    How do I center a page in any size browser even if page is too wide to display - I still want the page displayed from the center and hide the edges as the browser width gets narrower. E.g. I have 3 columns and want to always see the central column - the outside columns will be visible only on a wide screen, but only the central column is visible on a narrower screen such as a smartphone. I have set the margins of my wrapper div to auto, but this only centralises the page until the wrapper width is the same width as the browser window. Help me please !

    Thanks Nancy O,
    Using the % as a width does now allow the page to remain centred.
    Is there a way to keep the web page size as original even when the window gets smaller - i.e.you will only see the outside edges of the page by using the slidebar left or right if viewing in a smaller window. Ioriginally set the wrapper div width to 700px rather than 90%, but when I reach a browser window of 700px, the page then reduces in width towards the left rather than reducing it centrally.
    I don't know how to link to my page as it is not yet a live page, so can't show you specific code. Hope the above explains what I am trying to do. Basically, the two outside columns will be less important info, so I don't need this to always be visible, but if viewing my page on a smartphone, I want the central area to be seen in full (approx. 450px wide), and not reduce in size.
    Thanks for your help,

    I checked the status of the server and hard drive by booting off of the 10.4 installation disk, select utilities and disk utility.
    I know very little about terminal, however I'm pretty good at dos so I can figure some things out if given some commands.
    Anyway, I ran some commands and here are the results:
    megaraid -showstatus
    MEGARAID CLI version 1.0.12
    No cmd argument
    Um, so I think I remebered the command incorrectly and I did -showdevices instead. Sorry.

  • Is there any way to browse all sales excluding rental only & short films?

    Is there any way to browse all film sales excluding rental only & short films?
    I am finding the laborious process of clicking through page by page in cover view annoying to the extreme to search new additions to the available film sales lists every week or so. The display page is always slightly deeper than my window so it means having to scroll down to view the last row of covers and click next page.
    Apple... Is there any chance of having an auto scrolling (with pause and previous/next feature) film cover flow with description view of each film large enough to view the image, preferably filling the screen, perhaps also a feature in Front Row that will show available films to buy/rent in iTunes or an RSS screen saver that could give you a constant update of the last 10/20 films added?
    Something that will make the task of searching for titles you might like to buy less of a 'task' and more intuitive. I don't really want to browse by Genre and a Cover image only view tells you nothing about the film.
    If the screen in front of me gave me a constantly (controllable when required) changing view, similar to the content displayed in Front Row of a title you have selected i'd be happy.

  • To check whether there is any size mismatch between columns of two tables

    Hi,
    Here i got two tables T and M where i am going to migrate data from T to M. But before migrating i need to check whether all the data in source table fits into destination table columns. The datatypes of all columns in source table T is of Varchar2 only as it is a temp table.
    Ex :- Table 'T' (Source table) with columns
    T_Lat Varchar2(50);
    T_Amt Varchar2(50);
    T_Cat Varchar2(50);
    T_Vat Varchar2(50);
    Now I have another table 'M'(Destination Table) with columns
    M_Lat Varchar2(50);
    M_Amt varchar2(25);
    M_Cat date;
    M_Vat number;
    Now my task is I have to do a prevalidation of the data in 'T' that whether all the data in those columns will suit for the destination table columns respectively (to check whether there is any size mismatch). This check should be done dynamically.
    For suppose, in T_Amt(source column of T table) if text is abt 50 characters, it cant fit M_Amt(destination column of M table). In this case it should throw an error indicating that destination column size is less for the source column.
    Note:- There is no unique mapping column for these two tables and there are about 400 columns in the source table to be validate
    I think it can be done using arrays or plsql tables.
    Can any one help in this regard.

    >
    Just because the source table T_Amt column is defined as 50 doesn't mean any of the data is really that long. So the data itself needs to be checked. That is just what a simple query can do.

    Re: Help in Execute Immediate - Invalid relational Operator
    Here is the modified sample query and results for a query of a clone of the EMP table with some modified data
    select count(*) cnt,
           -- job column
           sum(case when job is null then 1 else 0 end) job_nul,
           sum(case when job = 'SALESMAN' then 1 else 0 end) job_salesman,
           min(length(job)) job_minlength, max(length(job)) job_maxlength,
           min(job) job_min, max(job) job_max,
           -- hiredate colulmn
           sum(case when hiredate is null then 1 else 0 end) hiredate_nul,
           min(hiredate) hiredate_min,
           max(hiredate) hiredate_max
            from emp1
    CNT JOB_NUL JOB_SALESMAN JOB_MINLENGTH JOB_MAXLENGTH JOB_MIN JOB_MAX  HIREDATE_NUL HIREDATE_MIN HIREDATE_MAX
    14    2       4            5             9             ANALYST SALESMAN 0            9/28/0001    12/3/9999With one query and ONE pass thru the table I was able to get the COUNTs, the MIN and MAX values for each column and the MIN and MAX lengths of the VARCHAR2 columns.
    There are 14 total records, 2 where JOB is null, 4 where the JOB is SALESMAN. The MIN length of the JOB data is 5 and the MAX is 9.
    Look at the date values. The results tell me I have some problem data.
    The length data tells me if I try to put the JOB data into another table I need to define the length as at least 9 or it won't fit.
    For your use case you might find that all of the data in the T_Lat column is shorter than 26 and will actually fit into the M_Lat target table column.

  • How do I run an applet in full size of browser window?

    When I run an applet in the browser, I have to specify the width and height for the applet. How do I tell the applet to use the full size of browser window?
    Does anybody have experience on it?
    Thanks!

    Guys,
    I have found a solution already. The key is to specify percentage in width and height value. For example, width="100%" height="100%". There you go!

    Hi, is there any size or file count restriction in iTunes "choose photos to share" ? Thanks,

    No.

  • How do you create an array of any size(no limits).

    how do you create an array of any size(no limits). this array should hold BigInteger values.
    BigInteger[] array = new BigInteger[100000000]; //creates new array of BigIntegers array[0] = new BigInteger("6"); //puts "6" in
    array[1] = BigInteger.ZERO;
    but this type of an array can only hold a limited amount.

    Use a java.util.List, e.g., ArrayList or LinkedList.

  • HOWTO: Writing Out XML Query Results of Any Size in Java with XML SQL Utility

    A customer mailed me asking for an example of how to use our XML SQL Utility to write out query results for tons of query result rows.
    With tons of data, the getXMLDOM() and getXMLString() methods are not really appropriate due to the size.
    The XML SQL Utility offers a getXMLSAX() method that streams SAX2 events to report the data being queried. This is the approach we can use to handle data of any size.
    It dawned on me today that by putting together the XML SQL Utilities getXMLSAX() routine, and the oracle.xml.parser.v2.XSLSAXPrintDriver SAX2 ContentHandler, we can effectively stream out data of any length to an appropriate writer.
    Here's a code example to get the point across:
    package test;
    import java.io.BufferedOutputStream;
    import java.io.PrintWriter;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.Driver;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import java.util.Properties;
    import javax.xml.transform.OutputKeys;
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.XSLException;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.XSLOutput;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.XSLSAXPrintDriver;
    import oracle.xml.sql.query.OracleXMLQuery;
    public class Example  {
      private static final String QUERY = "select * from emp";
      public static void main(String[] args) throws Throwable  {
          Connection conn = getConnection();
          OracleXMLQuery q = new OracleXMLQuery(getConnection(),QUERY);
          // Any printwriter will do. Here's we're output to standard out.
          PrintWriter output = new PrintWriter(new BufferedOutputStream(System.out));
          // This is a SAX2 Content Handler used by the Oracle XSLT Engine
          // to serialize a stream of sax2 events as an XML document
          // We'll use it to serialize the sax2 events from the XML SQL Utility
          // out as an XML document.
          XSLSAXPrintDriver ch = new XSLSAXPrintDriver(output, outputOptions());
          // This asks XML SQL Utility to fire sax events for the data
          // being fetched instead of creating DOM nodes or returning text.
          // By using the XSLSAXPrintDriver content handler, these events
          // get handled by writing them directly to the output stream
          q.getXMLSAX(ch);
          ch.flush();
          q.close();
          conn.close();
      private static XSLOutput outputOptions() throws XSLException {
        XSLOutput x = new XSLOutput();
        Properties props = new Properties();
        props.put(OutputKeys.METHOD,"xml");
        props.put(OutputKeys.INDENT,"yes");  // Set to "no" for non-indented
        x.setProps(props);
        return x;
      public static Connection getConnection() throws SQLException {
        String username = "scott";
        String password = "tiger";
        String thinConn = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:ORCL";
        Driver d = new OracleDriver();

    Hi Uber,
    This is a known issue that error occurs when running report "Count of instances of specific software registered with Add or Remove Programs" due to non-printable characters for XML. Based on internal research, the hotfix for this issue will be
    included in the System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1.
    As a workaround, you can remove the nonprintable character populated into the report parameter by referring to the following KB article:

  • Hardware FAQ's - 2. Is there any size limitation for video recording?

    2. Is there any size limitation for video recording?[/b]
    Yes. The maximum file size of continuous recording is 4GB (i.e. the device will stop recording after hour for HD+, 2 hours for HD, and 4 hours for VGA). This limitation is due to the file system of the built-in memory (i.e. FAT32 has a maximum file size of 4GB).Will and can this be fix with a firmware upgrade? I would like it to last atleast 2hrs for HD+? Which is it's limit with memory and or battery?

    I've been told that the method size problem occurs
    especially with JSPs. Again, splitting is the
    solution.Is that if the code is actually "in" the jsp? What I mean is, do you still get the problem if you use <jsp:useBean ... ? (so the code is seperated from the view, like it should be)

  • Thumbnail size in Browser (Grid) View?

    Greetings,
    In Browser View, I change the size of the thumbnails to five across. When I close and then reopen Aperture, the thumbnail size has changed to four across. Is this the default size and is there a way to change it to keep it the way you set it?
    Thanks in advance - Scrags

    Aperture 2.0.1 will remember any adjustments to the size of thumbnails in the "Browser Only" window. If you select "Browser + Viewer" AND film stripe for thumbnails (not grid) then the thumbnail size will automatically be adjusted according to the size of the Browser window.

  • Help on font sizes and browser resizing issues

    When browsers resize the text, they can have a significant impact on the my designs. I am using CSS positioning, and not tables. I am also using relative font sizes, usually ems. I can get everthing to look right on my pages when the browsers are set at the normal or medium text size. But, i run into problems when the browser is set at the large or largest text size. I need help dealing with this issue in general. But, here's an example that best illustrates the problem:
    I set some white-colored text on a dark background in a  banner at set at 800px x 50px. The font size is set at 1 ems. The background color for the rest of the page is white. So, when the white-colored text fits easily within the banner, everything works okay. But, when the browser resizes the text, the white text flows beyond the dark background color of the banner and becomes invisible on the white background of the page. Is there some way to use margins, padding, or line size to manage this type of situation?
    What are the best tactics to use regarding font size when using CSS positioning ?
    Thanks for any help on this question.

    Thank you for your prompt response. I will put my page on a test server when I can. But, for now, here is my code below.
    I get your point about flexibility.The question is how? What are the best approaches to use?  I have the sense that more experienced designers have some conventional tactics for ensuring the pages read reasonably well even when the text size is enlarged in the browsers, but I am not sure what approach might work in general.
    Part of the issue with this particular design is that I am actually using a background image in the header/banner. And it has a set height:51 px. I don't want it to repeat it vertically whenever someone enlarges the text size in their browser.
    Again, I would appreciate any help offered.

  • Thumbnail Size when Browsing in PS

    I am a brand new Mac user and have just converted over my Photoshop from Windows to Mac.  I am trying to increase the thumbnail size when I am browsing my images to open directly from Photoshop without going through Bridge first.  I have increase the size of the thumbnails using the Apple preferences but this does not seem to effect the thumbnails when viewing files directly from Photoshop.  Can someone tell me if I can do this and how?
    Curtis

    Paul
    In column view I only get one thumbnail at a time and only after I click on the image name.  This defeats the purpose of the thumbnails for me as I want to see the thumbnails in order to select the image and not view the thumbnails after I select the image.  The problem with the matrix view thumbnails is they are too small to make that selection with as I can't see any differences if the images are similar at all.  What I'm hoping for is that the thumbnails can be made larger in the matrix view but I can't seem to find any setting in Photoshop that change the default settings.

  • File Size Question: Browser vs. MediaManager vs. Finder

    Not an earth-shattering issue, but am just curious as to why the Browser, MM, and the Finder each offer different opinions as to the size of a given media file (or group of files).
    I've just finished capturing a couple of hours of HDV footage from a friend's Sony cam (model HDR-HC7). Used Capture Now with the pref to create new media files at any TC break. (Will later do selective shot-by-shot logging and transcoding into ProRes422, so this B-cam material can be easily combined with AVCHD-originated footage which is being ProRes'd on ingest. For now just had to get it all on disk, since my friend needs his camera back!)
    Anyway, everything went smoothly, but to use one file as an example, I happened to notice that in FCP7's "Size" Browser column, it's 78.2 MB; whereas MediaManager sees it as 77.1 MB; yet the Finder shows it as 82 MB.
    All the other captured files show a similar variation. Everything's in the same ballpark, of course -- and these days what's a few MBs between friends? -- but the differences total a couple of GBs by the end of day; still not a big deal in the grand scheme, just more of a variation than I would have predicted.
    So -- does anyone happen to know why this is the case? Do the Browser, MM, and the Finder each have different ways of evaluating how much space a particular media file is actually occupying, or are they each measuring subtly different things?
    Like I said -- just curious.
    Thanks,

    +Is there a particular reason why it makes sense for the Browser to use one way, and the Finder to use the other?+
    Most likely it is down to which particular call is used by the programer to ascertain file size and therefore the way that file size data is returned to the app. Don't forget that the FCP's basic code is pretty darn old now and predates current best practices for file size reporting.
    +And why, staying with the above example, does the Media Manager come up with its own unique measurement altogether, different from BOTH of the others (or is that just part of its charm)?+
    Weird huh? And here's the bit you won't like ... I don't see the same discrepancy. On my system Media Manager and the Browser seem to report file sizes consistently.
    +Also -- am I correct in noticing that under Snow Leopard, Disk Utility has switched from one measurement scheme to the other? (DU suddenly seems to be seeing my 500GB drives as having a single-volume partition of -- gasp -- 500GB! Who would've thought?)+
    Yup, its a brave new world.
