hey! Do u know if there are any free softwares that would allow me to copy the staff i have on my zen vision back to my computer? (i just had a format and lost everything!)

Well Media Source will handle media files (free from Creatives site). Rgegarding data and if you have a USB 2.0 port you can just use XP's Windows Explorer to access the media and data folders.

Spent some time yesterday doing research on this. There are good reviews and bad reviews for just about every screen capture application out there it seems.
The top-ten reviews gave their gold medal to CamVerce, which I'll probably buy today.

Yesterday I bought the Sonne Screen video which is rated 5th on the top-ten site. (I figured as I'm going to be editing on premiere I shoudn't need to pay for extra editing packages and as I'm not using it to create tutorials I really just want a good quality screen capture for Windows 8). However, I'm not really happy with the image quality on playback and I'm finding the technical assistance really poor from Sonne. I still haven't received an email confirmation from them.
The others that I thought sounded right for me were WM Capture (though the top-ten review had a few negative things to say about it).
Tried a couple of the free ones also. EZvid is very popular.
Will see how I go and let you know. I'm sure this is very subjective and I'm probably not being as clear as I need to be about purpose of use.

I'm switching over to a Mac, and although i'll still have my PC, it will just be easier to use my Zen on my Mac. Is there any way to get the Zen Vision:M to work on a Mac? 3rd party software maybe? Any suggestions?

Whatever it is you end up using, it is IMPERATIVE you stop using the Mac until the rescue is completed.The more the drive gets modified, the greater the chance that the storage area the deleted file used to occupy will get written over, thereby making rescue impossible.

Does anybody know any software for the Mac that I can run round robin, single and double elimination tournaments? I help run tournaments but using excel for pool play and the web for bracket play, but if wifi is not available I have no way of running brackets for prize play. Can some one help point me in the direction of software that I can use locally on my Mac Pro.

As a new PC owner I wanted to find out what the best software for doing full backups to external hard disk, to to be used to restore the system if primary primary disk crashes. Im aware that Windows, Acronis and Paragon all have software that doing varying degress of back and resore functions.

My favorites are ShadowProtect to do an "image backup" of boot drive and Beyond Compare for backing up files for all other "data" arrays. ShadowProtect does not seem to have much market share compared with Ghost and Acronis, but I really love it.
What I like about ShadowProtect:
- Extremely fast (complete image backup for 61GB of files on my boot SSD RAID 0 array to a RAID data array takes less than 3 minutes)
- Can do image backups across a LAN; restores from boot CDROM and USB device
- Allows for backups from one controller and restore of OS on a different controller and/or RAID configuration (has HAL tools; Hardware ? Layer I think)
- Can "mount" an image backup as a drive letter and see (and copy) all directories, files, etc. that are contained in the archive
What I like about Beyond Compare:
- Can choose what to backup and what to ignore very easily (for example you can set it to ignore certain files or directory names to ignore and then save how you set things up as a "session")
- Only needs to copy over files that are new or have changed since your last backup
- Makes it very easy to selectively delete files from your backup

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on this, i recently had to recover my pc so i decided to back up my beloved music, photos and documents to my Zen Vision:M. Although i managed to transfer the music across, i seem unable to copy over the music without there being some from of problem (i.e. it freezes up my pc) i hope someone can help i'm getting stressed!?thanks, Scene!Kid =D

Well i did try, but still it was the same.... and now it seems the files have disappeared! i'm so confused! i always thought of Creative products being relati'vely simple (despite a few minor problems with my player when i first purchased it) so i'm shocked that i cannot copy over music files by dragging and dropping. Copied to Zen Vision But Tracks Not Found

Hi I have a Zen Vision M old version .62.02e , XP home edition 5. SP3
I copy music to the device using Windows Media Player
but it cannot be found. Not within all tracks, albums nor artists. Where did it go?
Other gripes. How can I see both the album title and artist on the same display? Why just one or the other?
Where is the link for new firmware for my ageing Vision M?
I have lost the CD for the Organiser and Media software. Where can I get it from? Do I have to pay for it again, if so why? Lost tracks happened using Creative software too.
The volume is not load enough - what to do?
Why do I have to scroll from A to L for ages to get there, surely there is a way to get there directly, it is 200 already.

Sidenote everyone: My post may have been somewhat misleading. The computer recognizes the Zen, as in, if I go under "My Computer" and whatnot it shows it as being there, what's not recognizing it is Creative MediaSource. The computer knows its there and a window asking what I want to do pops up every time I plug the Zen in, but when I run MediaSource, which is the specific version for this type of operating system, it won't recognize it and hence I can't transfer files. Sorry for the confusion.

ZenXtra: copying from Zen: "file unaccesib

When copying from my Zen Xtra, after transfer of a couple of files in queue I receive an error: "file unaccessible..." and I cannot copy anything more unless I reconnect. Moreover Zen and the connection seems to be out of order (ie. not all fields visible in Zen Settings in MediaSource). Sometimes after that there is a message: player unconnected, although there is no other evidence of lost connection.
I tried:
MediaSource from CD and new one from internet.
Driver from CD and Internet
Rescue mode clean up
Firmware remove and install again
All PC Zen software removal, reboot, reinstall, reboot
My Zen Xtra 60GB is running on firmware .20. PC is running WinXP Pro.
Uploading TO Zen works fine.

Chances are it's a USB compatibility issue with the PC. The simple test is to install the drivers and software on another PC, and test some transfers. If it works fine then it's the original PC, if it still has problems then it's an issue with the player.
Search on "connection problems" in the FAQ Part post for a link to a lot more troubleshooting information.

Transferring FROM Zen Vision M to Compu

Hi there, I have a 30Gb Zen Vision M, I have no problems connecting to thecomputer and finding the player, it will transfer from the computer to the player but will simply NOT transfer from the player to the Computer.
I am using a DLO (Brand Name) cable.
Can anyone help, I lost all music on the computer, i have it all on the player, but cant back it up.

Any Software for Old Style 23" Cinema Display?

I just bought a second hand 23" Cinema Display (plastic casing) and it is gorgeous. Unfortunately the previous owner did not have the box or any of the accompanying literature or software.
It all works fine and the picture quality is excellent with none of the issues that have been reported on the new Al 23" model. However, I can't quite fathom out how the power button is supposed to work. I can wake the monitor and Mac from sleep yet that seems to be the limits of its functionality. Should it do anything else like put the monitor and Mac to sleep or shut them down?
Is there any software that I should have to add a few more capabilities? I've seen mention of Apple Display Software elsewhere. Is that required if I am running Mac OS 10.4.2?
If so is there anywhere that I can download that from? Also I would like a copy of the user manual even if it's just in PDF form. Is there a URL for that? The only one I could find was for the 22" Cinema Display.

Here's a little Applescript I've put in place to sleep the screen a minute after it's executed, provided I don't press a key or move the mouse. I saved it as an application and bound it to an unused key on my keyboard.

What this does is change the values for the EnergySaver in memory (the defaults remain unchanged) to sleep the display after 1 minute of inactivity (the minimum setting), then wait for 90 seconds then set it to 15 minutes (my default, but you can change this value to whatever your default is).
So if I press the button on my keyboard and leave my desk the screen will now sleep 1 minute later. If I use my Mac within that minute then it won't sleep.
I would love to be able to immediately put the screen to sleep. Setting the displaysleep value to 0 actually turns off the Energy Saver for the screen, so that's not an option.

2. Use CBO (FIRST_ROWS, ALL_ROWS)
3. SQL*Plus AUTOTRACE
4. EXPLAIN PLAN
5. SET SQL_TRACE = TRUE + TKPROF
6. Statspack
7. Enterprise manager (new Ora10g, did not try it)
All from Oracle...
