Any solution to avoid kernel panic after sleep mode ?
I have a kernel panic message on my Mac Book Air 2011 each time I disconnect it from my 30" screen and put it in sleep mode ! I'm sending the report to Apple but zero feedback after several months ...
Maybe these will help.

Kernel Panic after Sleep Mac OS X Lion
I'm getting this quite frequently now. When I put my MacBook Pro to sleep (bought in novemeber 2011, running OS X Lion 10.7.3) and turn it back on, it crashes after I log in in my account.
This is getting quite annoying, and I was wondering if there's something I could do to prevent it to give me a kernel panic after each wake up. I certainly don't want it to become more and more frequent. I don't have a Mac installation DVD so I wouldn't be able to reinstall OS X Lion.
Thanks

10.6.5 Kernel Panic After Sleep
Hey everyone.
I recently updated to 10.6.5 on my newest generation Macbook. However, in the past week, I have experienced two Kernel Panics. Both occurred after waking the device from a long sleep. I almost never turn the device off; I usually put it to sleep every night. Disk Utility says my disk is fine. Do you guys think this is just due to almost never turning the Macbook off, or is there something more to this? Do I have to do a complete restore?I only restart my machine after installing updates. No need for a restoration; however, peruse

Kernel panics after sleep, MD101
Hi all!!
After installing Crucial 16 gb kit and Sandisk Ultra II SSD 240 Gb (instead HDD) I have experienced many kernel panics.
It was only after long sleep, and not immediately, but after some minutes.
I checked RAM with memtest several times, NO ERRORS. I disabled hibernation at all.
But panics not always, but happens.
Where is the problem? Thanks!

The next morning it did exactly what yours did - except that when i restarted it booted all the way and then froze. When I forced a reboot the lower memory slot was showing as empty even though it has a 512 stick in it. Maybe if I go back to target mode and come out again something good will happen. Maybe you have stumbled on to something here.

I've had two kernel panics this week. Both occurred when waking up from sleep. The thing both had in common was that I unplugged the ethernet cable before sleeping. Also, both times I had approximately 6-10 apps running - all stable commerical software, no share/freeware. Anyone else seen this on MacBook Pro?

MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.5)Hi, phoo.
You panic log indicates a page fault:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x0019CADF): Unresolved kernel trap (CPU 0, Type 14=page fault)...
This is a common fault type on Intel-based Macs. A page fault indicates the processor could not access either data memory or the next instruction to be executed. Potential causes include RAM problems, hard disk corruption, and programming errors.
Since there are no kernel-loadable extensions in the backtrace, the panic log offers no easily-discernable additional clues.
See my "Resolving Kernel Panics" FAQ. This FAQ includes step-by-step instructions for identifying and resolving some of the most common causes of kernel panics.
My FAQ is a roadmap: start at the beginning and work through to the end, following the instruction in the order specified, including the "If all else fails..." section if a cause or resolution is not found in an earlier troubleshooting step therein.
Good luck!

com.apple.kec.corecrypto 1.0Hello Michele, your English is quite good actually!
Usually this is caused by some 3rd party extension or some external USB device.
I suspect one of these...
com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver 1.0.0
com.iospirit.driver.rbiokithelper 1.21
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

IMac has kernel panic in sleep mode
Hi,
Since I upgraded my Mac to Mountain Lion I've had a rather annoying problem. Whenever I put it into sleep mode, after a while it will show the kernel panic screen and reboot. After that, the Mac reboots and works like a charm again. When I put it into sleep mode again, it encounters the same problem.
Anyone having the same problem and/or who can help me?

Trying to decipher the system log seems to indicate a problem with my USB hub, the iMac doesn't seem to be able to communicate with it. This has happened before - usually there are no applications open and the computer is in sleep mode. The problem then occurs when I try to wake it; usually a light blinks on the Iogear hub for a short time and then goes out - when I get a panic, three lights stay on continuously, the fans are whirring and absolutely nothing happens, the screen remains black. There also is no pulsating light on the front bezel of the iMac. The only solution is a forced shutdown. Once I restarted, all seemed well again. BTW, this hub (hub/card reader combo) does not have any lights on when everything is working as it should.
I also just remembered that occasionally, my keyboard or mouse (both plugged into the hub) will become unresponsive; once I unplug them and plug back in, they're fine. I've already tried a different hub (Macally) and the very same thing happened. I don't know if these could be related?Hi, Barbara.
The line
Unresolved kernel trap(cpu 0): 0x400 - Inst access
in your panic log indicates an 0x400 (Instruction Access) panic. An 0x400 (Instruction access) panic occurs when the processor cannot access the next instruction to be executed.
Potential causes include RAM problems, hard disk corruption, and programming errors. "Programming errors" in this case can include invalid instructions and violations of protected memory, however it is often difficult to differentiate a programming error from a RAM or hard disk problem since the latter two issues can cause a valid instruction to appear invalid. Likewise, this opens the door to the potential for processor errors, i.e. defective processor or other problems with the logic board.
Kernel loadable modules in the backtrace are flagging
com.apple.iokit.IOSCSIArchitectureModelFamily(1.4.4)@0x52c000
This indicates an issue with "...SCSI, USB (Storage), FireWire SBP-2 and ATAPI devices."as described here.
It could very likely be the USB hub/card-reader combo you cited, or it could be a deeper problem with your Mac. Does the problem occur when you have media in the card reader of the USB hub/card-reader combo?
See my "Resolving Kernel Panics" FAQ. This FAQ includes step-by-step instructions for identifying and resolving some of the most common causes of kernel panics.
My FAQ is a roadmap: start at the beginning and work through to the end, following the instruction in the order specified, including the "If all else fails..." section if a cause or resolution is not found in an earlier troubleshooting step therein.
Good luck!

Kernel Panics after Waking from Sleep
Hey everyone, having some problems with my iMac I'm hoping you could help with:
I'm running a 2o" G5 iMac 1.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM, with OS X 1o.4.7.
What is happening is that if I put my iMac to sleep, and then wake it after a few hours, I get Kernel Panics and have to restart 1-3 times(this has been going on for about a month). I'm also having programs unexpectedly close on me after being able to restart it(mainly Mail & iTunes). This doesn't happen if I only leave my iMac asleep for a 1-2 hours or so.
So I get 3 types of errors, the kernel panic with the different languages after waking the iMac. The kernel panic that displays white text on black bars running down the left side of my screen, after being able to reboot(randomly). And unexpected program shut downs, primarily when using Mail or iTunes.
What I've done:
-Reset the PRAM
-Removed all external hardware except mouse/keyboard.
-Ran the hardware disc check which determined I had a bad stick of RAM, so I removed it, and left the stick provided by Apple in.
-Deleted the plists Powermanagement & autoawake, deleted the cache files(per Apple support).
-Safe boot(still got the panics)
-Erase & Install after backing everything up.
When I re-tested using the clean boot for about a day, I didn't get the errors. However, when I reloaded my initial setup from by backup disk, I started getting the kernel panics after a few hours of sleep again.
I think the fact that I didn't get the panics running the clean boot has hopefully ruled out a hardware problem, so am I looking at some software that could be the culprit? Is there any easy way to narrow down what it might be, or if it's another issue altogether?
Thanks for any help provided, and let me know if I need to provide any further info!
20" iMac G5/15" PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)Thanks for all the helpful ideas everyone(Miriam especially).
I tried logging in as another (new) user, and experienced the same problems. Nothing showing on the activity monitor that I can see as the problem either.
Looks like I'll be heading back down to the Apple store to see what can be done. I had taken it down before, but it was after I had done a clean install, and they couldn't recreate it after 1 hour of sleep, and I didn't want to pay $75 to keep it over night. But I have my crash logs now, and hopefully they'll be a little more receptive the second time around.
Thanks again!

Power Mac G5 Kernel Panics After Waking From Sleep
My G5 has been kernel panicking intermittently the last few weeks. I brought it in to the Apple Store and they ran Apple System Diagnostics (ASD) on it, but found no errors. However, they were able to get it to kernel panic after running it on a full processor load for a couple hours.
After getting the machine back, it has been pretty stable, but it will kernel panic within a minute of waking it up from sleep. Therefore, I can't put the machine to sleep anymore. Once in awhile, it also kernel panics during the boot process.
A few times, including today, the memory also shows up incorrectly in the System Profiler. Right now, my G5 says only 3 GB of RAM are installed when there are actually 4 GB. The Profiler shows six 512 MB chips when there are actually four 512 MB chips and two 1 GB chips in the machine.
Does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this and how I might be able to fix it?
Thanks. Thanks for the suggestion. I disconnected the MyBook drive from the Firewire 800 port, then put the G5 to sleep again. When I woke it from sleep, it ran almost five minutes, then kernel panicked.
So I did a test with half the RAM and had the same problem. Then I tested the other half of the RAM and the same kernel panics happened. I tried different DIMM slots and it kernel panicked no matter what I tried. The last few times, it just froze without displaying the kernel panic screen.
The kernel panics started happening when I installed the August security update. So I decided to install Leopard on a secondary internal drive. The installation went smoothly and I ran some programs for a new minutes with no external drive attached. Then I put the computer to sleep. When I woke it up about an hour later, the cursor was gone and the screen was frozen.
So I am pretty confused. The computer runs fine as long as I don't put it to sleep. But if I wake it up from sleep, it is a ticking time bomb before it crashes. Is there anything else I can try? -
Kernel panics after upgrading to OS 10.8.5
I installed the 10.8.5 update on my early 20098 model Mac Pro. I thought it strange that I had to restart the computer twice after the update. But everything initially seemed to work fine after the update. But while I was updating the OS on my Macbook Pro, leaving my Mac Pro unattended for about 45 minutes, I came back to the Mac Pro and discovered that there was a kernal panic warning on the screen to the effect that the computer shut down because of a problem. I was given the option to restart the computer and it seemed to work normally for the next few hours. But when I checked on it the next morning, the same kernel panic message was displayed. I tried starting up in Safe Mode. As far as I can tell everything works well in safe mode, at least for the 3 or 4 hours I left it in that mode. Back in standard boot the kernel alerts started back again. This happens so far only when I am not actively using the computer but when it is left unattended. The computer is set to sleep after 1 hour.
An internet search suggested that there might be a conflict with a .kext file. There are only 5 .kext files loaded at startup that are non-Apple ones. I removed three of them since they were not critical for the use of my computer. But two of the .kext files are necessary for the proper function of the Mac Pro as it is configured. There is an "Accelsior.kext" file that is required for my OWC Mercury Accelsior PCI Express SSD card and two .kext files necessary for my CalDigit USB 3.0 Host Adapter (CalDigitFastIO.kext and CalDigitUSBxHCI.kext). Removing all but the CalDigit .kext files and the Accelsior file did not correct the problem. Next I simply re-installed the 10.8.5 updater. This did not correct the problem. I think I will go ahead and remove the CalDigit .kext files as a trial since I can operate the computer without USB 3.0 for a while. But beyond this I don't know what I should do next.

Thanks for any input or help. Unless there is a simple fix I think I will have to revert back to my pre-update backup copy of 10.8.4
JohnGlenn,
Since you do not have the CalDigit USB 3 card installed and we have the exact same inducible kernel panics after update to 10.8.5, I think we can rule out a role for the CalDigit card in this matter. Apparently, according to Larry at OWC, he and other users are not experiencing problems with the Accelsior card after the update. This suggests it is not a universal problem but it affects only Mac Pros running certain software or hardware add-ons. It would be interesting to know in what other regards your system resembles mine in some unique fashion that might explain this problem.
You have the MacPro 5,1 while I have the MacPro 4,1 so we know that it is not isolated to just one model of the Mac Pro. I have 20GB RAM installed with a module in each of the slots. I have SuperDrives installed in both bays. I have all 4 internal HD bays occupied. The Rember app indicates that there are no problems with my RAM. I have multiple external FW HDs, a Zoom USB modem, and 2 monitors attached to the Mac. It is hard to imagine any of these features as being related to the problem at hand. I might try removing all attached devices to see if this makes a difference. Meanwhile I'll await a follow up report from OWC.
John -
Any fix for the kernel panic issue?
So far, i've had 12 kernel panics. Usually it only happens when I start iTunes or software update. I read in a developer forum it was because of the NVIDIA Graphics card. So, are there any fixes for the kernel panics with Lion?
There is no bluetooth connectivity issue after the recent OS update. There may be a problem with your phone, which may or may not be related to the update. A "common problem" looks like this in the forums:
I haven't seen any threads on BlueTooth with over 1.4 million views and over 12,000 replies, or even any vaguely close. For any problem that someone has there is bound to be someone else amoung 150 million users who have it. That doesn't make it a "common problem."
If you tell us what the problem is specifically and what you have done so far to try to resolve it someone can probably help you. -

Kernel panic after 10.5.3 install - can't get to desktop
When 10.5.3 came out I ran Software Update, and it installed itself and then asked me to restart my system. So I did. But before my MBP finished restarting, a gray curtain came down and told me that I had to... restart... my... system. (It looked like a kernel panic screen.)
I restarted and the same thing happened. After a couple of iterations of this I realized that something was broken and it wasn't going to fix itself, so I booted up in Safe Mode. That worked OK. It's what I'm using right now. Things seem to work normally except that certain functions, like playing audio, are disabled.
How do I troubleshoot this? Thanks.OK, here's the panic log for the first kernel panic after the 10.5.3 download. Does this help?

PS cs5 seems to just quit when you are either working in it or if its sitting idle? Very annoying when you loose what you're working on. Is this a sortware and hardware issue?
