Any Solution to Centro Freezing on Incoming Calls?

Greetings,
Is anyone else having this problem?  I have a new unlocked Centro.  From day one, the phone freezes on incoming calls.  The freezing occured prior to any hotsync or programs being installed.  I just opened the box, charged the unit, plugged in my SIM Card and tested.  Incoming calls froze the device.
I did a hard reset, no change.  Another hard reset and hotsync with no 3rd party software, same...
I see this problem discussed in every forum which cellphones is a topic.  Is there a solution?
Thanks,
Dwight...

Oh, come on tech, this is the well-known freezing problem that has been discussed many many times in this forum and other forums as well. Centro has this freezing problem when answering incoming calls and Palm has to fix it ASAP!!!
I personally also experienced about 50% of my incoming calls frozen when I tapped either the Answer onscreen button or the green Send button. However now I found out that if I press and hold down the green Send button for about one second when I am answering an incoming call, I don't get freezing problem anymore. This method is working for me so far for the past 2 weeks.
However, the bottom line is Centro has this problem, and Palm better fix it. I don't think Palm is so poor or lazy to attending to a simple problem, am I right?

I personally own a Centro and if this was a "known" issue I would be experiencing this problem, so your resource on that matter is wrong.

  • Centro freezing on incoming calls - solution

My simple solution for incoming call freezing problem. I have an unlocked Centro on O2 Ireland.
My Centro was freezing on 1 in 3 incoming calls.
    I changed the Prefs thus:
Keyguard: Disable touchscreen when: [X] Incoming calls received
    Hands-Free:  [ ] Always route call to Hands-Free
This has worked for 11 incoming calls in a row. I'll try & get back with more results.

My solution could have been more clear:

  • Centro Freezes Upon Incoming Calls and Doesn't Register When Trying to Make a Call

I am currently on my second Centro since March 18th and both have had the same issues. Sporadically when receiving incoming calls the phone likes to freeze up. I have tried waiting it out to see what happens, but the screen stays. The only way I have found out of this is to remove the back take out the battery and put it back in. This has happened on base phone with no apps. I haven't even gotten to Versamail yet, which seems like that offers a whole assortment of new problems. So this is pretty much out of the box stock and it is this flawed. I have never owned a Palm device before and I must say this isn't giving me a good impression of the company. I am hoping someone here can give me a fix. I really like the style of the phone and the features when it is working, but I can't have a phone that won't answer or make calls. I believe that is the point of one. I'm tempted to just go back and get a Blackberry like my fiance. That seems to work fine. I don't mean to be threatening, but while researching this problem it seems like there is no answer and Palm isn't really doing anything to fix it. The closest thing I saw to an answer was that Centro is a new phone and is bound to have flaws. Is that it? We are stuck to suffer with a faulty device because we originally liked the product we purchased. If someone can help me it would be much appreciated. I want to keep this phone, but maybe it wasn't meant to be.

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
First, I have removed your three (3) other posts on this same subject in other threads, as one is sufficient.
The vast majority of Centro owners seem to very happy with their phones, including me (and I am not a Palm employee, just a volunteer here).  My Centro (from AT&T, just like yours) works just fine sending and receiving calls.  So, that leads me to the conclusion that either:
Something is wrong with your individual device, which can happen.  Yes, I suppose bad luck can strike you even with two phones.  Or,
Something you are doing with the phone is causing a problem.
Did you upgrade from a previous Palm OS phone or handheld device on your computer?  If so, and if you are using the same Hotsync ID, then your system files may be that is the issue.  Even after you Hard Reset, try to use the phone BEFORE you Hotsync it back to your desktop.
If you still cannot make or receive calls with your Centro immediately after you do a correct Hard Reset (maybe you're not doing that correctly?), before Hotsyncing with your computer, then I would take the phone to your local AT&T store to see if they cannot give you one that works.  The Centro comes with a one-year warranty, and AT&T has a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy.
    Good luck.

  • Blackberry 9300 Freeze During Incoming Call

    Device: Blackberry Curve 3G 9300
    OS: 6.0 Bundle 2475 (v6.0.0.546)
    Application Storage Free Space: 43.3MB
    Carrier: Maxis Communications (Malaysia)
My phone has been freezing up randomly during incoming calls for the last 3 weeks. Sometimes I am able to pick up the call but most times it just freezes up. During the freeze, all the buttons will not work and the phone will just keep ringing until the call has been canceled/dropped from the other end.
    There are 3 scenarios:
    1. Phone works as normal.
    2. Incoming call comes in, phone freezes up, I pull the battery out, phone reboots and everything is fine until the next freeze. I can recieve SMS and all application works as normal.
    3. Incoming call comes in, phone freezes up, I do nothing and let the call end. Screen will black out after a few seconds and none of the button works. Next incoming call comes in, the screen lights up to show the incoming call but none of the button works just like before. In the end, I have to pull out the battery.
Here are some of the things I have tried:
    1. Deleting applications from my phone to free up memory (Facebook, Yahoo Messenger, Google Messenger)
    2. Deleting pictures to free up memory
    3. Updating the phone to the latest software version. Previously it was on version 5 but the freeze happened then too.
    4. Reseting my phone to use the original theme.
I have never dropped my phone (not even once) and I have been using this same phone for the last 10 months. I still have 2 months left before my warranty expires. I really look forward to getting help from the experts here before I take the last option of bringing my phone to the service center.

  • Centro Freezing During Phone Call

    Hi
I have a Palm Centro and am experiencing a problem.
My centro likes to freeze from time to time when I try to answer a call.  It started doing so a few weeks back, I did a hard reset and it seemed to had fixed it.
Now the problem is back again.
It seems to happen more when the phone hasn't been used for a decent amount of time though.
Any ideas on how to fix this, it's extremely frustrating.

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums.  If doing a hard reset fixed the issue then it is most likely a softare issue.   The reason it came back is you synced and all your 3rd party programs reloaded.  What you need to do is a hard reset. Before you do, be sure to do a sync to have all data backed up as this process will delete all of you data. If you need info on how to do the hard reset go to http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/nua/launchKB.asp?c=887 . Once the hard reset is done do not sync and test your device to insure the problem is fixed. Then before you sync navigate to c:\program files\palm (or palmone)\ you user name folder (for palm desktop ver 4.x) or c:\my documents\palm os desktop\user name folder (for ver 6.2) and find the backup folder and rename it to backupold. Then sync and test for awhile. Once you are sure all is working go to the backupold folder and in there you will find any 3rd party programs you had previously installed, ?.prc. One at a time double click on them, which puts them in the installer and then sync to install them. Once one is installed test for awhile then install another, one at a time, to determine which one is causing the problem. Hopefully that should get you back in business.

    Hi gemmie,
Update to latest firefox 15.0 , your system details said you have 14.0.1(because 14.0.1 it is unsupported)
    then :
try to [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems#w_turn-off-hardware-acceleration Turn off hardware acceleration] in Firefox and "disable the hardware acceleration" in the Flash Player too :
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html
also try to [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Disabling_Protected_Mode_in_Flash_11.3 Disabling Protected Mode in Flash] (the link is for 11.3, do the same for 11.4), see the same in "Last resort" in the next link from adobe forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0
If you still have crashes you must [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_step-2-install-flash-10-3 Install Flash 10.3] but first uninstall your current version with [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_step-1-uninstall-flash adobe uninstaller program] .
It is not so easy, but not so difficult to, you can do it. If you need any help here we are.

  • Need ot stop Incoming Calls

We are using a  X number from where agent calls to the customer ...this number X was visible on customers mobile number & they call back to agent...we can't use masking because its having limitation for recording (X number is recording line) ..Is there any way we can stop receiving Incoming Calls on Number X....

    Hi
Sure just move X number to a partition not included on incoming CSS configured on VG or trunk.
Pay attention to maintain reachability from CCX/CCE and other internal stuffs.
