Any successful updates to 10.5.3 with 198 mb version?
I have always used software update to install updates in Tiger and now Leopard without any problems. However, I have never seen seen such a large difference between software update's 198 mb and the Apple website update of 420 mb. Does anyone know why there is such a difference?

My problem is with Photoshop not working over the network. How many people do you think run Photoshop on a network? 3, perhaps 4... let say 5 including me.
So, that is why I am saying hold off for a bit until this issues are resolved.
Lets not have a slagging match, that not why I'm here. I am just trying to give people some advice based on my experiences.
SO again, I would recommend not running it at this time, give it a week or so. I'm not holding a gun to anyones head here, if you want to, go ahead fill your boots.

No. You misunderstood. Upgrading to Mountain Lion is not connected to upgrading your other software nor your iDevices. If you need to upgrade third-party software you need to do that in addition to upgrading OS X. Mountain Lion has nothing to do with upgrading your iDevices. You upgrade their firmware with iTunes.

Frankly I don't think it's fair as I spent a lot of money on my 32gb iPod and apple are now conning existing customers to line their pockets !!!!I would not expect any more update for an iOS compatible with the 4G iPod.

How to make my form be compatible with older adobe versions

I created a dynamic form with adobe lifecycle 9. As users try to use the form, they get this error:
"This PDF form requires a more recent version of Adobe® Reader® or Adobe Acrobat® software. While this form may appear to be working, some elements may not function correctly or may not appear at all."
Is there a way to make the form be compatible with older adobe versions?
Thanks.In the File Menu -> Form Properties under Default Tab, choose the Target Version of Adobe Reader that you expect users to have the minimum version.
If any of the functionality does not compatible with the selected version, then the warnings will be displayed under report tab. You can access it by going to Window menu -> Report.

I have tried VERY unsuccessfully to install the new iphoto 9.2.3 update.
I have installed it several times both from the appstore and from Apple Support downloads...it says it has 'successfully updated' - then on opening iphoto, a dialogue box pops up and says:
iPhoto cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure iPhoto works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.

I did get it working finally...and your last advice was what I needed.
I am embarassed that I was an early adopter...SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER and read the problems before creating some for myself.
This was an excercise in frustration, because of the obtuse division between the appstore and Apple Support downloads... it was a bit of a circuitous route...strange that with all the security reciepts and tracking that Apple goes to to prevent piracy... which Steve by his own admission used to build Apple...
Why aren't the server scripts smart enough to say…”HEY DUMMY you can't use this download because you purchased the last iPhoto upgrade from the appstore...and… DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME and precious data BUDGET downloading this gargantuan file which will eat 20% of your expensive 5Gb monthly data allotment!!!…and NOT WORK…only pretend to…and then foul your system….kill your productivity and turn your hair whiter…even worse than LION did.
I am just so antagonized by the inept scripts in recent installations that don't do a diagnostic before allowing installation that is going to corrupt things...I had less effort and frustration when I ran my ATARI with a MAC emulator...rarely lost any productivity to nonsense.
I AM TIRED OF BETAs dressed as products...designed and rushed out for Apple toys that once were tools of the creative trade...COREL...may still have a chance at a comeback if Apple keeps pumping out toys instead of the venerable tools we once adored as income enhancers. -
Cannot successfully update any vaults
I just upgraded to Aperture 3 and since then have not been able to successfully update any of my vaults. The library became too large for the external drive that housed my A Vault so I added a new vault on a separate drive that has ample room. When I clicked the update vault icon, aperture said it was calculating disk space and then said it was updating vault. When the update vault scrollbar reached about halfway it stopped moving. I left it run overnight and no change. I was able to then just click on any image and the update bar disappeared as if nothing ever happened. I checked the external drive to see if anything was there and a vault existed, but is much smaller in size than my actual library.
I then went and picked up my offsite drive and brought it back to the office to back up. It did the same thing as above.
I'm confused. I tried to go through the steps to repair my library, but each time I command, option click on the library it just opens Aperture instead of the repair dialogue. Is there another way to repair the library and does anyone have any other suggestions?

The point I wish to make is that colleagues who regularly follow and post suggestions and answer questions seem to ignore issues with vaults. After I posted my question I searched all posts in this this thread where the word "vault" is used in the subject, and most if not all have zero responses and I can only conclude by the general absence of responses to vault issues that this feature of Aperture is not well known. In the last 90 days I encountered some 20 users with vault issues.
If there are people out there who know how to update, reconnect, migrate, etc vaults - particularly when going from AP2 --> AP3, there are a number of us users who sure would appreciate their insights.
Perhaps there are some Apple personnel on the Aperture Software Team who monitor this thread....if you are out there, then please chime in. -

It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

After updating iTunes this week Windows 8 recognizes the iPod but does not offer an option to open with iTunes. iTunes does not recognize iPod Touch. Have followed all the steps but without success. Is there a solution with iTunes?
I followed all the instructions on the suggested page. Many files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\ could not be deleted. Message said ""Cannot delete files: It is being used by another person or program"' but could not find iPodService.exe in task manager (also, the "Cannont delete ... " did not mention iPodService.exe).
Deleted all that I could. Reinstalled iTunes. Still same result. iTunes and computer both recognize my old iPod. Only the computer recognizes iPod Touch. -

My computer is not taking the new update from itunes. It states that i do not have the requirements to finish the Install and that it was Installed incorrectly. I have never had any issue with any previous update regarding iTunes. What is the issue?

I have updated my iphone 5 with IOS7. Now there is an update 7.0.2 on my cell and the size of update file is showing around 21.0 MB. I tried to update it ITunes but it seems it is downloading the entire IOS. Is there any separate update for the same or I have to download the entire IOS again?
Well when you download the update with iTunes it will always download the whole new version (in your case 7.0.2) even if its just an bug fix. If you already have 7.0 download the update over-the-air.
You already wrote that the update is only 21 MB, so its not the whole firmware package of 7.0.2 you get with iTunes. -
I have just updated my i phone 4s with the new ios 6 software and most of my apps have disapeared when i got to the app store and search for an app i cant find i click on it and it says the app is installed. but i cant find it in my apps if i double click on it it opens. Any ideas?
