Any sugg. for financial software for Mac?

Just switched over to Mac and wondering which financial software you guys recommend ? I used Quicken on my PC but have no preference... Opened a new bank acct. so I'm starting new.

Hi and welcome to Discussions and the wonderful world of Apple Macs,
while there is Quicken for Mac http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance/mac2007-personal-finance.jsp?lid=site _banner some prefer other apps.
Like MoneyWell http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/25709/moneywell
or Buddi http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22468/buddi
MacUpdate http://www.macupdate.com/macintel.php has quite a lot listed.
Since I myself don't use any I can't really recommend one.
Take care

What is the best personal financial software for mac? I am currently using Quicken 2007 but keep losing data.
    Thanks,

This is a bash on Quicken reply. I have struggled with Quicken (currently Q07) for many, many years (back into the 90's). I counted 13 different sets of Quicken datasets which have been left hanging on my various hard drives over these years as I found out through different support calls that I would have to discard a corrupted database and start over.
Last year, I was told by Quicken support during a  call I paid for that I had too many accounts and the database was too large. (This has been a common tech support comment for me) I've only tried to use Quicken for personal finance tracking, no securities tracking and the heavier features (thank goodness). The call ended with an all too familiar bottom line which was that the backups were all bad so they didn't help. The support person couldn't figure out how I could utlize the backup data so in the end, I re-entered the previous year so that I could get my taxes done and search for another program. I've researched enough to know I was lucky to not move to Quicken Express as was once advised. Apparently that software doesn't allow an export in the event you would find a different software.
The good news is that I just upgraded to Mountain Lion. As you may know, Quicken in any version does not work with this OS. I've finally found a perfect reason staring me in the face to never struggle to use Quicken again. Now to find a better option. Money has many features that seem like what I need for handling 5 or 6 bank accounts and credit cards. Has anyone experienced SEE software? It too seems to have decent features.
I don't know the background of this link but it may be a place to start:

MacWorld also has a review on financial software for the Mac 2013
Best of luck to us all. Deciding on MtnLion and Mac vs. Quicken pppfffft no question which gets dumped!

  • Is there any voice recognition security software for mac

is there any voice recognition security software for mac

The problem is that there are probably few dry cleaners running Macs. It would be a big commitment for a developer to enter that market. As a potential user, I'm sure you would like it. From a developer standpoint, I would need 50 such dry cleaners ready to buy at $1000 each just to even consider it. I have some time to develop this year. Should I go after 200 million potential customers, a tiny fraction of whom might spend $5-10 apiece, or those 50 dry cleaners. I know that all of those 200 million people are running the correct operating system for my software. How many dry cleaners have Macs and $1000 to spare? I could go cheaper but then I would need more dry cleaners. Why wouldn't they just use some cloud based service instead?

  • Best financial software for Intel Macs

I see to my disgust that Intuit just released a new version of Quicken that is not universal binary. That being the case, what is the best home financial software for Intel Macs?

    Hey Todd,
Just to be sure I am understanding you - you are saying you are miffed because Quicken missed the chance to go Universal Binary. That is understandable, but I just wanted to make sure you knew that it still runs on Intel macs.
I am running the newest release on my Macbook and to be honest Quicken just isn't one of those apps that is going to benefit from more speed.
My frustration has always been that Quicken dumbs down the functionality for the Mac version. Still the case with this last release.
That said, Quicken is still the best buy for my money (sorry couldn't resist!) and runs well via on the Intel macs.
The best solution and the one I am moving toward is to load XP on Parallels and run the PC version of Quicken that way.
Best of all worlds I would say.

  • Are there any fee for developing software for USB non NI harware?

We develop applications in LabView for pieces of hardware witch communicate via USB. Are there any fee for developing software for USB non NI harware?

If you really mean distributing software that you developed, then you and a lawyer might want to review the LabVIEW software license - especially the section on distribution requirements (in my 6.1 version it's section 12). You should also contact NI directly and ask them. This forum is primarily made up of LabVIEW end-users and any legal advice you get here is worth exactly what it costs, in other words, nothing.

  • The Recommended pages for updating software for my mac are no longer maintained by Apple. Any thoughts?

Although in my System information it lists my Mac as running OS X 10.9.5, it was not the case. My system was running browsers in an older version. When I asked for support, I was pointed to Recommended Articles about updating and installing software and firmware for my Intel-based Mac, however the pages say that they are out of date and no longer updated by Apple. Any suggestions? I have a Mac 20" Fall 2007 model.

When using the About this Mac selection from the Finder menu below the Apple icon,
in the little window of that name, when you click the information immediately below
the OS X, that should say Version 10.9.5, then click the same place again, and Build
number (may vary) should appear; click a third time and your product Serial number
appears. You can use this information to help correctly identify the OS X & build series.
Also, the total of memory RAM installed, appears; so does the processor specification.

There are other places to look in the running system, to tell if you may have a second
system, a different partition, or other questionable action going on. There is a way to
use the command line in Terminal to see what is going on, and other less complex ways
for a lay-person who is not experienced, to look at some information reports that can be
generated. One of them is the etrecheck report. It will show what is in the computer. But
not an entire complement of information that a inquiry via Terminal utility can.

Not sure exactly what the issue is you are facing, the computer may or may not have
a problem; what made you try to update software? If it has Mavericks, what does the
App Store or Software Update page show you? Do not upgrade to try & solve an issue.
Hopefully some information gained will be of help.
If the computer says it has Mavericks 10.9.5, it
probably does. However, what you need or hope
it to accomplish may require a different direction.
It may have older applications, or other problem.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Financial software for personal use?

I just bought my blackberry bold yesterday and I'm not sure which financial software to use.
Has anyone used Ascendo or any of the other money management programs? Which ones do you prefer?
I'm looking for something that's more for personal use than business expenses etc.

You mean Quicken '07, I assume? There is no Mac version of Quicken '08. I use both Quicken '07 and MoneyDance. The latter is still rough around the edges, but I support it since I'd like to see some real competition in the field given Intuit's legendary second-class treatment of Mac users and the Mac platform (charging more for less features and almost never fixing bugs).
Plus I think it's slimy to intentionally BREAK online features after a version is three years old like Quicken does. I fully understand desupporting an old version, but intentionally disabling functionality (in the consumer software world) is just crummy on another level. I've also used the beta of the replacement for Quicken '07, and it's pretty lousy so far.

  • Looking for Financial Software?

Does anyone have a good financial software program for new Macbook? have used Quicken for years to track investments but the Quicken Essentials for Mac doesn't do the job. Any ideas?

I just downloaded my Quicken for Mac 2007 files to iBank.  The download worked OK though some of my Quicken categories, subcategories and money amounts got mangled.  I had to go back to Quicken (which I did not trash) to correct the problems.
I'm not overly happy with the choices of "Reports" available.  I like to do "Category Summary" reports for tax purposes, etc.  Unfortunately, iBank only provides "Detail Reports" and one of mine is 53 pages long; not very useful.
I'm 1 day into the 30 day trial.  I'm not yet sold.

  • Any Wake On LAN Software for Leopard?

Ok, I have a PC upstairs, and an iMac downstairs
I have got VNC viewer working on my Mac now to be able to access my PC upstairs.
However I would like to be able to remotely switch it on after I have shut it down, I know my network card has to support it, but on my iMac what software do I need, and where can I get it form (free preferably!)
SO I need some WOl (wake on LAN) software for my iMac, anyone help
ps any tips on doing this gratefully accepted, including VNC and remote PC'sing ;0)
    cheers

I cannot make it work, it seems the WOL packets are not transmitted to the remote computer. I have a G5 (2004). Is it compatible?
how can I check the remote computer is indeed receiving the packet?
I'm on the same network, connected to a switch (so no router involved). I can connect via file sharing, I can ping, but not too sure where the WOL packet gets losts.
    thanks!

  • Any suggestions regarding security software for my MacBook?

Just picked up a new MacBook Pro. What are the guidelines for security software (malware/spyware/anti-virus)? I have access to Norton Security Suite from Comcast. Would that be o.k. to load or would it cause problems?

The only "need" to have an anti-virus software is if you exhange emails with Windows users and do not want to be beaten up by them when forwarding a virus infected mail.
There are two free solutions available (ClamAvX and Sophos) that work quite well without slowing down the Mac too much.
Although I have one of these AV apps installed, I have never come across any mail virus on my Mac over the last decade.
No other software needed, just the usual setup for every computer:
    disable auto-login
enable the internal firewall if your router does not have one (or you do not have a router)
activate the password lock for the screen saver
use your brain while browsing the internet
The last topic is most likely the most important one

  • What is the best financial software for mac

I used quicken 7, then "upgraded" to quicken essentials on recommendation - mistake; a number of features in quicken 7 were lacking in essentials. In particular tracking of stock investment details like buy/sell/dividend/splits .....
going back to 7, if possible doesn't seem practical; quicken doesn't have any better mac software or (as far I can tell) anything on the horizon; all I get out of then is to go back to quicken 7 or use windows quicken
suspect I shold be leaving quicken for something else, but I've about 20 years of data i don't want to lose
    any suggestions?

Quicken released an upgrade for Quicken 7 that will work with Lion and newer. It can be downloaded from them. I don't remember if it's in the App Store. It does make Quicken very usable however. Essentials was rotten.

  • Financial Software for Mac

I know Quicken makes a program for Mac and I've checked a couple of free ones, which don't seem to be what I'm looking for.
Is there any other program that I can use?
I hope this is the right area to post this question. I searched for this topic but didn't come up with anything.
    Thanks

Since you do not tell what you have tried or why you do not like Quicken or where youhave looked
You can use Quicken and it comes preinstalled on your Mac
WWW.apple.com may have some in the download section
Version Tracker is a good place to look
