Running 10.1.9; Receive error "the document could not be printed":, click O.K., Get msg "there were no pages selected to print". Tried "advanced", then "image". Went back into "advanced", Image had unchecked itself. Did this multiple times. Any ideas ?

Even if it was compatible, AirPrint does not work through a USB link, only Ethernet or WiFi.
I do not see your HP 4500 listed on Apple's list of AirPrint compatible printers. <iOS: AirPrint 101> Therefore you need to take another approach. To start, I suggest you download the free HP App, ePrint Home & Biz. It has limitations, but should get you printing with your existing setup.
There are other printing Apps with more features such as Print n Share and PrintCentral, but they can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.
Your best option may be to share your computer's printer as AirPrint over WiFi. Programs that are reported to do that well are Printopia and FingerPrint. Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print. <Printopia for Macintosh> <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

Any suggestions regarding security software for my MacBook?

Just picked up a new MacBook Pro. What are the guidelines for security software (malware/spyware/anti-virus)? I have access to Norton Security Suite from Comcast. Would that be o.k. to load or would it cause problems?

The only "need" to have an anti-virus software is if you exhange emails with Windows users and do not want to be beaten up by them when forwarding a virus infected mail.
There are two free solutions available (ClamAvX and Sophos) that work quite well without slowing down the Mac too much.
Although I have one of these AV apps installed, I have never come across any mail virus on my Mac over the last decade.
No other software needed, just the usual setup for every computer:
disable auto-login
enable the internal firewall if your router does not have one (or you do not have a router)
activate the password lock for the screen saver
use your brain while browsing the internet

Fingerprint software installed on Macbook says printer offline any suggestions??

Am wanting to have the airprint facilty withput purchasing new printer, have installed FingerPrint software and it seems to be working okay, however on iphone it says printer is offline and on on Mac it says printer not conneted. I have a Canon MP600 and a Belkin router, I have done the troubleshooting tips on Fongerprint's website but still no joy.

Well until you can get it printing from the Mac then you won't be able to get it printing from the iPhone.
Some simple things to try;
Turn off the printer for a few minutes, then back on again.
A restart of the Mac can also help sometimes.
Check the USB cable to the printer.
Remove the printer from Print & Scan and add it again.

That sounds like a permissions problem. Vista uses that Trusted Installer account to install software. I don't know why it wouldn't have the correct permissions, though.
Make sure you have FULL control over all the C: drive, and try turning off UAC during the install:

I hook the apple tv back to tv and says I need to connect to itunes. the original problem was the power went out and the apple tv light kept blinking. I tried restarting it but would not work. The error is just a simple error message just like (1013) instead it says (1). The iPhone I am trying to activate has been activated before I just currently have no service and I think that activating it will solve the problem. Error -69 suggests a possible problem with the source files on your computer. Check the source disk for errors and backup if you don't already do so. See HT1210: iTunes displays a -69 error when syncing iPod for more details.
The SyncToy backup program is also a good way to identify exactly which files cannot be read. Repeated runs may succed in copying files which won't copy over on the first attempt.

It may also help to disable any AV software while syncing or set exclusions on the media folder and the iPod's drive.

The trial is always extended. The serial number you enter determines whether it runs as standard or extended.
I'm getting through fine with that link, so it must be a browser issue or some such thing. Try another browser.

That DLL is part of your printer driver; reinstall or update the device driver for your printer, and the message should go away.

OK, I tried a few things, and I do not understand the results.
1) I opened the document in Preview, and it would only recognize the three initial pages which I typed using the Pages App. It did not recognize the bulk of the text which I copied from Appleworks 6. It also did not recognize any of the scans.
2) I tried opening a pdf in Preview, and it would only recognize the scans. (No Text!)
3) I tried copying everything (select all, and command-c) in Pages, and then opened a blank Pages doc, and typed Command-v. This got me all of the text, but none of the scans!
4) I was worried that my Pages app might be corrupted, but I successfully converted a similar 78-page document with copied materials from Appleworks 6 and similar scans, ant this worked perfectly.
My conclusion is that my file must be corrupted. Is there any way to check this? shabda88

I downloaded after S/W update said I had new printer S/W available, NOT positive this caused problem, but sure can't print now from any Apps. I D/L new Combo S/W from Epson, but didn't resolve.
