Any suggestions to keep my whiteboard and synchronized elements after LCCS goes down?

Hi all,
Our website uses LCCS to share activities among the users... Pretty much like Rosetta Stone: http://blogs.adobe.com/collabmethods/2010/01/rosetta_stone_totale_case_stud.html and Edoboard: http://www.edoboard.com/fr/
Where multiple users can watch the same learning videos and books in a synchronized way, and the instructor can use the whiteboard for examples and lessons.
Any idea if:
FMS can handle this?
Other systems, ways to get this synchronized experience?
Any leads will help in my R&D... Actually more in the R part. :-)
thanks in advance

I don't think it's the server... First, it's a co-op, and acts more fair than most.. Second, most of my downloads work well.. Streaming video works well.. Cspan works well. Al Jeezera does not work well.. I could suspect the net is not neutral..
I would expect that Democracy Now is underfunded, and servers overloaded, but is that they way they would act, to start out fast, and then slow down in a minute, or two.??

I cannot use Quicken on my new MacBook Air (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2) Any suggestions?  I love Quicken and it takes care of all my financial needs.

You can wait for Quicken to update (supposedly in the works) or you can switch to another application such as Quicken Essentials or another application of which there are several you will find at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
Otherwise you'll need to return your MBA and buy a slightly older model Mac that still runs Snow Leopard. Lion will not run any PPC-only applications such as Qucken or MS Office 2004.

10.7.5 is not Snow Leopard so we have to wait and see, the answers to the question I asked will define what it really is.

  • Blank login screen on the iPad keeps popping up and wifi disconnecting after 20 seconds

hi, we have an ipad running IOS 5 that keeps having a blank login screen on the iPad keeps popping up and wifi disconnecting after 20 seconds.
I am yet to find out why this is, any clues?  (note that both apple.com and facebook are blocked at the router, but nothing else)...

actually we cannot due to policy reasons... it appears through testing that the iPad is phoning home and sending private data to Apple regardless, it is also odd they placed these PRIVACY settings in About hidden away so that no-one knows they are there.
From the iPad homescreen, tap on Settings > General > About
Tap on "Diagnostics & Usage" > select "Don't Send"
So... anyone else know why if we block Apple, the iPad disconnects from the internet via Wifi?

  • Any suggestions on keeping an iPod from freezing?

I am having somewhat of a problem here. Whenever I go snowboarding, I get down half a run and my iPod (30G 5th Gen.) and it "freezes" and shuts off. When this happens, I try turning it on again and the hard drive sounds like its clicking, and then proceeds to show me the "Sad iPod" icon. The funny thing is that when i get back to my car and plug it in to my Monster Cable, it runs just fine.
My friend has the exact same iPod as me and he does not have any problems with his iPod when he snowboards with me. I've tried everything; socks, gloves, keeping it close to my body (closer than you want to think about), and other various methods. But my friend, as i have said, has no problems. So meanwhile, i have to snowboard without music. Can any one explain this to me? Why is this happening?
If anyone has any suggestions, i'll be glad to hear it.

In most cases, the sad iPod icon indicates a hardware issue. The fact that your iPod comes back to life in the car may signify a temperature problem.
"Keeping iPod within acceptable temperatures Operate iPod in a place where the
temperature is always between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). iPod play time might
    temporarily shorten in low-temperature conditions.
Store iPod in a place where the temperature is always between -20º and 45º C
(-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave iPod in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can
    exceed this range."
The difference between your iPod and your friend's may be that the hard disc in your iPod may have some slight damage that affects it more in the cold.

  • HT1349 Some I updated to IOS system I canon not the numbers or pages to work on my iPad.2. I paid $10 for each of them.  Any suggestions. I update often  and these never get out of update status.

    I'll correct my typos here...
When I updated my ipad2 to the IOS system all aps updated and worked except for PAGES and NUMBERS.  They always show up in the list as aps that need an update, however the never leave that category and do not function.  I paid $10 each for them and wish I could get them to work.  any suggestions?

Think about the basics.    you are using the same apple I'd for the update?  have use mixed in apps from any other apple id?   No existing numbers or pages docs open, or print jobs pending?
What happens when you select update in the app store?  I think these are pretty big files, so you are doing the app update using a wifi connection?
If you are doing an 'update all', try updating that one specific app, not any others.  See if you get any kind of error message.
Lastly, save any important docs or spreadsheets somewhere, then delete the app entirely , then try the redownload again.

Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Show Info
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
    What is the Modified date?
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

  • Keeping PS CS5 and Bridge CS5 after installing CC versions?

I have downloaded and set up Photoshop CC and Bridge CC. Do I need to keep Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5 on my computer? Will I lose valuable items or functions isf I deletete them?
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

No you don't,but in the event you decide to unsubscribe or if there is a problem with CC,you will have something to fall back on. Unless you really need the space,it won't hurt to keep it around as backup.

  • Any suggestions for keeping the magic trackpad from sliding around?

When I push up with two fingers, the 'pad moves.  I usually just put an iPod touch in back of it (iPod has a rubber case, prevents sliding).  But a more practile solutions would be best (don't always have iPod around)
I wish the little rubber pieces on the bottom of the trackpad were more grippy...

I always thought those pads were "grippy".  What kind of surface do you have it on?
Here's one suggestion though.  Get a thin piece of vinyl sheet a little larger than the trackpad.  That stuff sticks to most any smooth surface and will definitely grip the trackpad.  I know this because I use this stuff.  But almost anything equivalent will do.
Note, I use not to keep the trackpad from slipping, but to keep it from scratching my acrylic desktop (also bought from the same place as the vinyl).

  • My iPad mini will no longer play you tube videos....any suggestions?  I have updated and restored and still no better.

I have done a back up, update and restore.  It's no better.  Just a black screen with a fuzz line through it.  I have an appointment with apple tomorrow, but hoped I could fix this issue myself.

    Hello Jdhk5253,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the YouTube app on your iPad mini.  I recommend the steps in the article below.  You can skip the step to install another app from the App Store and any other steps you have already taken:

Just recently I started encountering a "waiting for proxy tunnel" error in Chrome and Safari when trying to surf the web while having to use a network proxy.  It seems this is some kind of malware but I cannot find how to delete it.  Any help?

It means the proxy isn't working.

  • Any reason to keep wireless router and Time Capsule

So my cheapo Seagate drive just died on me, and I'm scrambling to backup my documents and photos to an old 120GB HD and DVDs. It has a 5 year warranty, and I'll ship it in, but I'm guessing it will take a month or so to get back, and I'm less impressed by a drive that failed in less than a year.
So now I'm looking at a Time Capsule with"server grade" storage, does this mean it's more reliable or just advertising gimmick? I already have a Wifi-N router, so I don't need another router, but I also don't want to replace a cheapo external hard drive every year.
If I get the Time Capsule, is there any way to use both routers for a larger wifi range? I have dead spots on the far end of my house and in the basement, or will the Time Capsule be too redundant, maybe I just need another external HD and I'll just rotate between them when they fail.

Sorry you've had a problem, but all drives fail, eventually. Any manufacturer will have some fail fairly quickly, and some live practically forever. Seagates generally have a good reputation, and I don't think any of the other majors have more than a 2-year warranty.

I can't tell you much about Time Capsules. You may want to browse and/or repost in the Time Capsule forum, hidden in the +Digital Life+ section, at: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1253
But the idea of rotating between hard drives is an excellent strategy, that many folks employ. Use one for a week or so, then take it to your safe deposit box, workplace, relative's house, or other secure off-site location and swap with the other one. All you have to do is use the +Change Disk+ button in TM Preferences, and try not to go more than about 10 days between swaps.
That also protects you, of course, against fire, flood, theft, and direct lightning strike on your power lines.
