Any Suggestions Where to Get the New iPhone?

I was wondering if anybody (or anyone) has pros and cons to getting the iPhone (latest edition with 16GB from apple.com, ATT website or store, Best Buy? I need to cancel my T-Mobile account, get the iPhone going (wil need help learning just the basics) and get a plan with phone use, data card (if needed for my MacBook Pro (is the google app. the same as one that can let me surf the internet), some text use, free National calls and a occasional International call.
Thanks for any recommendations.

It's the same no matter where you get it. I'm not sure you can get one online. From Apple's website:
"Where to buy:
iPhone is available in 8GB and 16GB1 models at Apple Retail Stores and AT&T Stores."
Best Buy sells as well, but in store only as far as I know.

  • Is there any way I can get the new IPhone 4s and not use Verizon, Sprint, or AT

I use Straight Talk Wireless and I really want the IPhone 4s and I can't switch companies.

Ditch Straight Talk and go to Sprint. You pay $200 for the phone and $70/month. That's $25 more than Straight Talk but you get much better service. 2 years of Straight Talk and a $650 iPhone save you only about $2-300 than you would by going with Sprint if it was possible to use Straight Talk, which I'm pretty sure it isn't. If you don't want to pay for service every month or don't want to pay for data then just buy an iPod touch. An 4S without service or data is a big waste of money.

  • When you get the new iPhone 5S they say it come with al the iWork apps for free install already. But if i restore from back-up from an old device which doesnt have any iWork apps would I still receive those iWork Apps?

    Hey Davin12,
Yes. The apps are not pre-installed, but rather you are prompted to download them the first time you launch the App Store in iOS 7:
About Free Apple Apps for iOS 7 compatible devices
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5913
iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated or purchased after September 1, 2013
The first time you launch the App Store in iOS 7 on your qualifying new or factory refurbished iOS device, you will be offered iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers for free in addition to other free software from Apple. When you tap Download All and sign in with your Apple ID, the apps will be downloaded to your device and added to your store account. If you tap Not Now when you see the offer, you can go back to each of the apps in the store and download them one at a time for free.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • What is the best way to get the new iPhone/ iPhone 5

What is the best way to get the new iPhone/ iPhone 5 when it is released. I want to get the phone as quick as possible. If i order it on The first day of pre orders will i get it on the same day as the release in stores? I'm on an unlimited data plan with AT&T. Because the new iPhone will most likely have 4 g data will I loose the unlimited plan?

Apple has not made any announcement.  We are not allowed to speculate on this forum.

  • Can i get the new iPhone?

I have the original iPhone and the black part (antenna cover) broke off and it just generally seems to not be working well. Quite frankly i am sick of having to reset it. If i got the phone in September and agreed to a 2 year deal, can i terminate that deal and get the new iPhone? thanks.

Yes, Monkey you can. The original iPhone was not subsidized, and it is well-advertised on the AT&T and Apple websites that original iPhone owners can upgrade to the 3G for the subsidized price of 199/299. Naturally, you'll have to pay the higher data feeds and resign a new 2 year contract.
    Hope this helps.

  • Itunes says that i need 10.5 to get the new iphone software, but i already have 10.5 itunes

itunes says that i need itunes 10.5 to get the new iphone software, but i already have 10.5 itunes.  i cant seem to figure out how to get the new iphone software cause it keeps telling me to download updates, and then it does and update search and says im all updated.

I had a similar issue.  I had to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it.  Assuming PC, you have to go to the control panel and use the uninstall applications tool.  Then install it again.  Worked for me.

  • Can i get the new iPhone and sell my old iPhone?

I have the 4GB original iPhone and i was wondering if it was possible for me to upgrade to the new iPhone for the $199 price. If i can, am i able to sell my old on eBay? Some people say i can get the 8GB for 199 and some say i can get it for 499. I don't have an upgrade available and i signed a 2 year contract in September. Is this at all possible?

My understanding is that any current iPhone owner with an AT&T contract can get the $199/$299 prices regardless of when they last upgraded or renewed. Rationale seems to be that the original iPhone purchase was not subsidized by AT&T.
If that were not true, no current owner would be able to get the prices above, since we all bought the iPhone about 12-13 months ago at most and have no less than 11 months left on our two-year commitments.
I'm sure there is info on this on line somewhere. But best just go to an Apple store or an AT&T store and ask them.

  • Getting the new Iphone

I recently dropped my iphone 3g and the screen shattered. I was thinking about buying the new iphone 3g s and replace my current iphone. How do you think I should do this? Do I need to pre-order the new iphone? Does it cost money to change phones? Once i have the new iphone, how would i replace my old one? How much will everything cost?
An answer to any of these will help.
    thanks

Why do you not look this stuff up yourself?
    Here are the sites:
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/buy/
Look at the small print at the bottom. Here is what it says:

Existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G should check with AT&T or use www.apple.com/iphone/buy to find out if they are eligible for early upgrade pricing: $299 (8GB), $399 (16GB), or $499 (32GB) with a new two-year contract. For those who are not eligible for an early upgrade or who wish to buy iPhone as a gift, the prices are $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB). • I can't get the new iPhone software to install

I have iTunes 8.2.1.6 I am trying to update my iPhone to software version 3.0.1
I have never been asked where I want to download this to. And iTunes happily fills up my OS disk partition and fails #*?&!!!! :-@
Why on earth would I ever want my iPhone software in my PC operating system partition?!?
How do I get it to use my data disk partition instead? Also, how much disk space do I need? Apple refuse to tell me, and they won't help me get the update to work. I may have to ask for my money back....

I realised the location was C:\Documents and Settings\...\iPhone Software Updates
The update I have downloaded (version 3.0.1) is just under 236MB (or 230MiB). I still have 216MiB left on my C: drive after downloading the file, but when I try to install it, it runs out of space.
I have moved all the "temp" directories to a different disk partition, and I'm only installing software to this data partition now. Occasionally I have to uninstall and re-install software to maintain this. I also keep having to move stuff (like these update files) out of "Documents and Settings". Sadly I failed to keep my existing user accounts and their settings when I moved this folder to a different partition, so I had to put it back
What I was asking is how do I change the folder used for either the download or the extracted files? And if this, as I suspect, is not possible, how much free space to I need in my Windows partition?!?

  • Problem when getting the new iphone software iOS4

I did the download to get the software but during the download i had a call ... didnt seem to disturb the download.. it then said it was backing up (syncing)... and then it would say "cancelling back up" n stop... ive tried to do it again .. many times and ive even turned both my laptop and my iphone off n retried it. but it goes straight to "backing up" but it cancells again! any help?!

I also had trouble with updating to OS4 through iTunes update. What I did to get around it is this:
    1. Set iPhone to airplane mode and wifi off
    2. Open iTunes and connect iPhone
    3. If update message comes up - cancel (do not download and do not install)
    4. Create a backup (via sync and backup)
    5. While that is working, go to this site and download the 3GS OS4 firmware to your desktop.
    http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone4/061-7437. 20100621.5urG8/iPhone2,14.0_8A293Restore.ipsw
    6. When 4 and 5 are complete, disconnect iPhone and reconnect it
    7. At the iPhone summary page, "shift + click" restore and select the firmware from the desktop.
    8. After upgrading the firmware to OS4, iTunes should recognize that the device has already been associated and offer to restore the most recent backup.

  • Any work around to get the new iPod to connect to the firewire port?

I've read these new iPods won't work with firewire. Does anyone know if there's any workaround? USB 1.1 is impossible to deal with.

I've been exploring this question, too, since I just bought a new iPod nano as a gift for someone with an older G4 iMac with Firewire and USB 1.0 ports. VERY frustrating that for the sake of a cable, Apple doesn't seem to allow this! The computer isn't that old!
I'm still looking for a solution, which I am convinced should be out there somewhere. Here's what I've found and questions I hope someone can help with:
The Apple store has a dock to firewire connector that doesn't work with the new ipods apparently, and a Y-cable that includes FIrewire and USB 2.0 (M9688G/A) for older ipods. There is also a dock to Firewire cable for G4 ipods/ipod mini, etc. (M9127G) What is so different about the dock connector on new nanos that disallow these cables to work?
What about using the current Apple Universal Dock with the dock to Firewire cable or the Y cable above. Shouldn't that work? Dock fits nano, FW cable fits computer. Am I missing something here? I'd rather not spend $70 more to make synching possible, but if it would work...
Has anyone tried these solutions or are there any 3rd party solutions available (this seems a ridiculous problem, considering FW is an Apple technology that is still current -- we're not talking about SCSI here!)? TIA

  • Is there any way I can get the old iPhone calendar (design)?

When I upgraded to iOS7 I immediately wasn't a fan of the calendar (you now have to scroll down to see what's happening on any given day, instead of the convenient snapshot view like in the old calendar). I was willing to chalk it up to change and give it a try but months later I still hate the calendar. Is there anyway I can just get the old calendar version back... via app or anything?

Apps that people seem to recommend a lot include Tempo and Fantastical. Week Cal also has a view like the old month view.

  • Is there any way i can get an new iphone under warranty due to a smashed screen

if i can not get one for warrently how much does it cost to have it repaired

Accidental damage isn't cover under warranty, not unless you have apple care.
IF you take it to the apple store you would have to pay for an out of warranty iphone 5, the cost could be $200 plus.
