Hi Gaurav,
I followed your instruction and all it does is display the pages as "tabs" horizontally on the page. What I actually want is a Side bar on the left hand region exactly like the instructions and example in the Framework developers guide. The set up for a sidebar (according to the developers guide) is much more involved as I posted in my first message above.
An example of a side navbar in e-Business suite can be found under Functional Administrator responsibility > Personalization tab > Import/Export.
I have looked at the menu definitions for this page/function, and I've also had a look in the Page XML but I cannot replicate it with my custom page. The setup used for that example page also does not conform to the OAF developers guide instructions.
So again in the absence of any useable examples in eBusiness Suite I'm rather stuck with the OAF developer's guide so any tips would be gratefully accepted.

you can use oem oracle enterprise manager to diagnose and monitor database .

Opening a seeded OAF page from custom JSP page.

Hi All,
We have requirement to open a seeded OAF page from custom JSP page.
When we try to open URL of an OAF page after passing URL input parameters, we are always getting following error:
'You have insufficient privileges for the current operation. Please contact your System Administrator.'
On directly accessing the seeded OAF page, its encoding all the input parameters passed in URL. Also some more encoded parameters are getting added to the URL dynamically.
Is there any standard way exists to invoke seeded OAF pages without passing encrypted parameters to it? Also where can we get more details about
encrypting OAF URL parameters.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

My client is not ready to apply the patch OA Framework Mini-pack 11i.FWK.H : (3262919). Is there any other way to devleop the new OAF page.

OA Framework Version 5.7.H.V2 is very old and won't fetch you even the 30-40% of the latest version's capability. Development on this level won't be so useful.
Follow Sumit's advise and let us know.

If you have the test kit installed i.e. the CTK , then you will find it under the corresponding test folder. For example , i have it under C:\Program Files (x86)\WindowsEmbeddedCompact7TestKit\tests\target\
The test harness files , tux and kato can be found under
C:\Program Files (x86)\WindowsEmbeddedCompact7TestKit\harnesses\target\
The above two files tux and kato would be required for running any tests on Windows embedded compact platforms.
Depending on your platform , you may choose to use the corresponding binaries in the sub directory.

Any SAP tool that will perform audit logging views of personal data?

I am wondering if there is a SAP tool or a third party tool that will perform audit logging of end users when viewing personal data?
The audit record should contain: who is viewing, what data is being viewed and the date/time stamp.
This is required to meet data privacy legal requirements.

Any Tool to Measure Portal Performance

Does anyone know of a tool to measure OIP performance? Similar to the "Web Trends" application. Or anything that would measure the statistic performance of the OIP.

The reports in the performance monitoring toolkit provide performance data in plain text. If you prefer a friendly format to present to the business, you would be able to take queries from the reports and customize them with HTML code. The easiest way is most likely to use the PL/SQL toolkit to include the HTML code. Include a style sheet as well and you can easily change the layout according to your business needs.
An alternative which I have never tested myself but which has been suggested by Oracle Consultants is to use Discoverer as reporting tool for the performance data. You would be able to reuse the existing queries for e.g. top10 pages etc. Alternatively you can write your own SQL-queries to retrieve information which has not yet been covered by the reports in the Performance Monitoring toolkit.

Forms and Reports: Automated Test tools - functionality AND performance

I'm looking to get a few leads on an automated test tools that may be used to validate Oracle forms and reports (see my software configuration below). I'm looking for tools that can automate both functional tests and performance. By this I mean;
Functional Testing:
* Use of shortcut keys
* Navigation between fields
* Screen organisation (filed locations)
* Exercise forms validation (bad input values)
* Provide values to forms and simulate user commit, and go and verify database state is as expected
Performance Testing:
* carry out tests for fixed user load
* carry out tests for scaled step increase in user load
* automated collection of log files and metrics during test

Your question is unclear. As IK mentioned, the only tool you need is a new version of Oracle Forms/Reports. Open your v10 modules in a v11 Builder and select Save. You now have a v11 module. Doing a "Compile All PL/SQL" before saving is a good idea, but not required. The Builders and utilites provided with the version 11 installation are the only supported tools for upgrading your application. If you are trying to do the conversion of many Forms files in a scripted manner, you can use the Forms compiler in a script. Generating new "X" files will also update the source modules (fmb, mmb, pll). See MyOracleSupport Note 955143.1
Also included in the installation in the Forms Migration Assistant. Although it is more useful to people coming from older versions, it can also be used to move from v10 to 11. It allows you to select more than one file at a time. Documentation for this utility can be found in the Forms Upgrade Guide.

Tools to evaluate performance of adobe forms

        I need some tool which will measure the performance of forms - time to load the form & time to load data in drop downs which are linked and dynamic and data for drop downs are getting fetched from database tables.
Is there is any tool available for to measure the performance since in my current project we are concerned with too much of scripting slowing down the form?

Hi Paul,
            Following are the specific scenarios for which we are concerned about performance.
Our form is integrated in an enterprise portal and at the backend there is a webdynpro program in SAP environment.
In our form, we have several sections and subsections which become hidden or read only based on the role of the person opening the form in the portal. Final rendtion of the form takes place according to the account group - one of the fields in the form and opening wndow in the portal. I figured out that there can be two approaches for these scenarios.
Approach 1
Sections in the form have been wrapped in subform - so I have status fields as hidden fields in the subform. Based on the value of the status field ('H' for hidden or 'R' for readOnly), the sections will be made read Only or Hidden. These status fields are set by SAP webdynpro at the backend. There will be several hidden status fields in the form.
Approach 2
The whole business logic is taken care of by javascripting in the following way.
Step id is all that is being passed from the web dypro interface which determines the role of the user opening the form and the rest is done in javascripting In the approach we dont have so many status fields for individual sections.
Sample PseudoCode

the function in the switch statement does the same thing as the scripts used in the first approach i.e. making subforms readOnly or hidden.
My question is - are these switch statements and nested function calls going to have additional overhead in performance like loading of form in the portal?
Which approach is better from performance point of view?

Is there any tools or supported tools for codes check in/out?

When a project is in a large scale, we usually will divide the system into several modules. Each one responsible for a module. Under such situation, when a programmer tries to modify his/her module code, the problem seems to have less impact. However, in case of development involving common files, I would like to have better control about program update to avoid the conflict of program versions (Just like the Visual SourceSafe supported by Visual Basic) Is there any tool like that?

JDeveloper supports three SCM systems out of the box which provide this kind of functionality:
o Oracle Software Configuration Manager (SCM) is Oracle's own source control system. It's built on the Oracle database so is highly scalable and performs well. It also has a very high level of integration into JDeveloper and has been supported in the product since JDeveloper 3.2. More information here: http://otn.oracle.com/products/repository/content.html
o CVS, probably one of the most commonly used SCM systems around because it's free, open source and very easy to use. There's a very high level of integration for CVS in the 9.0.3 version of JDeveloper. CVS doesn't scale very well to large teams, however. More information: http://www.cvshome.org.
o ClearCase, a popular source control system from Rational Software.
We don't currently support Visual SourceSafe, although we're investigating the best way to provide this in the near future.

Spinning Ball on selecting any tool

CS6 crashes on selecting any tool. It displays a spinning ball and can only be force quit. It developed this fault spontaneously. Wher should I start searching? I repaired permissions, cleaned up the whole system, uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop, nothing helps.
