Any trick to custom Captions?

Hi - I created five files "Comitblack1.bmp . . . Comitblack5.bmp" and saved them in the Gallery\Captions folder.   I created these files in Fireworks and they consist of a black background with a black rectangle at 100%.  The size is 100 x 50 pixels at 72 dpi.
When I use the captions, they don't show up black, but rather chalky white.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Do u see the colour change on stage. If its in published file can you try by changing the slide quality to high or optimised and re-publish.

  • Remove custom captions from cache, CS5

I created a number of custom captions in CS5.  The captions work fine but are no longer needed.  I removed their .bmp and .fcm files from the Gallery\Captions folder but the captions still appear in the Caption Type drop-down list.  I can't seem to get rid of these unwanted captions.  They seemed to be cached in a mysterious location and refuse to go away.  I have cleared project cached files, uninstalled/re-installed Captivate 5, exited/entered new projects, rebooted the PC, and scanned the PC registry.  How do I remove these captions?
Other recent postings have raised this same issue but I couldn't find any answers.

    Hello,
I think your are pointing at Captivate 5 (Captivate is not part of a Creative suite, so the 'CS5' doesn't apply to it)?
Did you try to delete the Preferences folder in CP5? This has to be done while CP is not running. It depends on your OS. I'm on Windows 7 and the folder 'Captivate 5' can be found there in this path:
C:\Users\YourProfile\AppData\Local\Adobe          if Windows is installed on C:  Replace 'YourProfile' by your username
You can delete the folder, but will lose all your preferences. When restarting CP a new folder will be created. This replaces the "*.dat" file from previous versions.

  • Needing rest of my custom caption to be transparent

I created 5 simple .bmps to be custom captions. They have a white background, however I placed a single yellow pixel in the top-left corner of each so that it would render anything outside of the caption that was white transparent, but inside of the caption that was white, - white.
I have read that by placing a color that would not be used in the course on the caption, and by placing it in the top-left corner, Captivate would do this. The captions are having the white background (which is great), but still showing the rest of the images background to show the full rectangle. I'm almost there - but not quite what I was going for.
    Please see image below:
Not sure what I am doing wrong here. I have tried inserting a 1px stroke around entire image, and this is what I got. It shows the image, but also the entire stroke.
When I insert just a white background without the odd-color pixel, the following is seen:
Please. Any suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hey Rick -
Just so as I understand. If I have the green caption with a white internal background, all I need to do is lift the green balloon (with white color within the caption), and place it on a pink canvas - and that will keep all the surrounding areas on the outside of my caption transparent? I also need to make sure that I have to have probably at least a 1px area around the image from the edge of the canvas so it doesn't touch the size of the caption. Is that what I am understanding?
I still save it as a .bmp right from my image editor, correct (Fireworks)?
No, I do not save a bmp as a FCM file extension. I have opened up the FCM file extensions (and have in the past), and know that they contain the x,y cooridinates and margins for the captions - as well as the same for the hotspots.

  • Cannot get old Custom Captions to disappear

    Good day,
    Using CP5 on Windows XP.
I found some other posts on this topic but since I use XP, my issue has not been answered.
I have been creating custom captions for use in some corporate templates.  They are working fine but when I change the 5 files and their associated FCM files, I usually save them as a new name, this way the new changes appear.  However, now I have 4 old and altered captions that I am not using that I cannot get out of the Captions selction list.   I have deleted the bmp and fcm files from the Gallery/Captions file.
I saw in other posts that perhaps deleting the info.cpi file may help.  However, since I am on XP, I cannot seem to find said file!  I am racking my brain trying to figure this one out.  Spent nearly an hour on this before lunch before giving up and coming to the forums.
I have also hear that clearing the cache may also help?  Thoughts?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Eric

There are two ways to go:
    a)
A comment from Ricks forum post (including Ricks screeshot):
    Perhaps try clearing the cache?
    Click Edit > Preferences...
From the Global categfory, click the Clear Cache button.
    Or B)
A comment from Vishs forum post:
Also, can you try deleting the Preferences and check? You can find the  preferences at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Captivate 5

  • Customized Caption Type Not Working

I'm new to Captivate and I've been trying to create a custom caption background. I'd like a simple blue box to go behind my header text, but for some reason even after following the directions from Adobe, the program is having weird issues. My BMP files are the same size as the samples that come with Captivate, but for some reason the caption style does not "stretch" to go around the text completely. The result is below. I'm just focusing on the header at the moment.
    What it's doing:
What I want it to do:

    Here's the deal
There are actually two pixels that are significant in this mix. Certainly the pixel in the upper left corner is used as the transparent color. So you might consider creating an image similar to below:
The hot fuschia color would all be rendered as transparent because that is the color of the upper left pixel.
If memory serves, there is another pixel somewhere in the center that is also used in the mix. This happens when the caption is rescaled.
Be sure you make the image small enough so the caption will be as small as you need it. Captions may only be as small in Captivate as the size of the bitmap image you create.
One other tip here. As you are refining the caption, work with a blank project. Tweak the caption and the fcm file, use it in a blank project to test. Need tweaking? Scrap the blank project and start over. This is because once a caption has been used it is cached in the Captivate project file and any changes will usually not be reflected unless you rename the caption!

  • How to create a custom caption style?

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a custom caption style in Captivate 6 and am unable to do this. I do not want to use any of the inbuilt caption styles such as Adobe Blue, Halo, etc. instead I need to create a caption style based on the color of my client's brand. I thought this would be as simple as creating a box with the color I need in an image editor and pasting the bitmap into the folder where the other caption styles are but this didn't work. When I select the caption style that I created, the preview shows me a transparent box with only the text "Line 1, Line 2" and when I use that style all I get is a transparent box. Can someone please help.
    Thanks,
    Sean

It is not that simple... reason I almost never use those old captions anymore but replaced them by shapes (much easier to format).
Have a look at the available captions: for each caption you'll need a bmp and a fcm file, and follow naming conventions. See:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/text-captions.html#creating_custom_text_caption_sty les

  • Cached Custom Captions in CS5

    Hello everyone,
It seems that Captivate 5 is caching every single custom caption and button I create. Is there any other way to update them other than renaming the original file? The type scrolldowns are ridiculously populated in my current project... :S
    Cheers!

Hi CaptKimbo and welcome to our community
You are correct in your thinking that the captions will only
be available to you. Basically, I believe you have two options
    here.
    1. Methodically copy them to all other developers'
    workstations so they are available.
    2. Create a Captivate template, then share the template by
copying it to all other developers' workstations. I believe that
the captions are cached in the project file of the template and
therefore available for subsequent use when building projects from
    the template.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Creating Custom Caption Set

I'm trying to create a custom caption set for Cap 5.  I created the 5 seperate bmp files and saved them to the Gallery, all properly named and added the information to the font .ini file.  When I open Captivate again the group is present for me to select except that the inside of the box is transparent and I want it to be white like in the .bmp I created in Photoshop.  The background of the .bmp I created is all grey, the box is white with an orange outline.  What am I missing?  I'm not clear on the upper left hand corner pixel things I've been reading, I was assuming since the entire background is grey that I wouldn't have any transparency issues.  Any help would be great.  Thanks.

I'm having this same problem, but my caption is all white except for the top left pixel. It's FFFFF9, while the rest of the pixels are straight FFFFFF. Unfortunately, that makes it rather difficult to display it on this white page! So I expanded the canvas and filled the canvas with gray. The gray area is not part of the caption itself.
Here's a view of it at 6400%. I used the magic wand to select only the pure white pixels--you can see that the upper left is a different color.
When the caption displays in the dropdown, its thumbnail is also transparent.
The weird thing is, a co-worker is using the caption successfully in Cap 5. She sent me the .bmp and .fcm files, and I saved them into my Gallery>Captions directory. I've tried closing and restarting Captivate, with no success.
I appreciate any suggestions that anyone has!

  • Any tricks to use PL/SQL types in object attributes?

I guess this is a bit of a newbie-question, but I haven't been able to find any workarounds elsewhere, so please bear with me... I'm far from new to object orientation, but I'm rather new to Oracle's object features.
I was wondering if there's some trick you can use to keep references to attributes of PL/SQL types even though they are not allowed in object types (as these are "SQL", yes I do think I understand). I was thinking there might be some way you could cast them to some data type that is supported in SQL and then get them back by the reverse process when you need them in the PL/SQL inside the methods?
In the concrete case, I would like to keep a reference to a utl_smtp connection in my object. It doesn't matter that the reference would be meaningless in other sessions etc. (actually I may not even want to store the objects in any persistent table - it's the polymorphism I'm after):
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE o_test AS OBJECT (
    att1 NUMBER,
    att2 sys.utl_smtp.connection
    - which of course give me:
    LINE/COL ERROR
0/0     PL/SQL: Compilation unit analysis terminated
3/12     PLS-00329: schema-level type has illegal reference to
         SYS.UTL_SMTP
The problem becomes rather dull since I can't pass the connection record as a parameter to methods either.
The only workaround I could think of was to keep the connection as a global variable in a PL/SQL package and then get it from there inside the methods. Of course this can be refined using an index by table and some object unique id to support multiple objects with their separate connections. But it still seems rather clumbsy - especially given that what I was looking for was the elegance of polymorphism.
Any tricks I don't know of?
    I'm working in Oracle 10gR2.
    best regards,
    Jakob

The UTL_SMTP Connection record is not too complicated, and can be easily translated into SQL object types. Add a package to aid in conversion between SQL and PLSQL, and voila!

  • Custom Captions

I have been using a few custom captions in Captivate 5. I have just had them restyled and saved them into the Gallery > Captions folder. I have browsed for the new captions but it keeps adding the old caption.
How do I replace the captions with the new ones?
    Thanks

    Thanks so much Rod
I tried adding a _1 to the new captions but maybe have to change the names
    totally.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Any tricks to speed up export/share?

I have a two and a half minute video that is nothing but static title screens over audio, changing for each of five 30 second pieces of audio. I am exporting it so I can post it to YouTube (Share to YouTube), and it is going to take over an hour and a half on my Late 2009 MacBook. This is completely unacceptable. On previous, slower machines, I could export radio ad videos like this and upload them to YouTube in a fraction of this time.
    What is it encoding? Geez.
Does anyone know any tricks for speeding up this process? I even tried setting it to the lowest resolution on share (it's just audio, so it doesn't really matter how "great" the title text looks)... Same thing.
Very frustrating, since I currently do not have home internet, and I have to bring my laptop down to a WiFi hotspot to do uploading.

For years, I have used Final Cut Express, importing DV, HDV, then most recently, AVCHD in to Apple Intermediate format for editing. I would export a reference .mov, and then convert that in Visual Hub for uploading. When Visual Hub dropped out, I just started using QuickTime. It was annoying, because you had to go in to the .mov and edit the aspect ratio to make 16x9 show up properly (fortunately, there was an Apple support doc on this, else I would have just assumed it was broken).
I love FCPX except for the bugs, and the speed. I am only a few weeks in to using it, and so far have used it for two TV ads. I am still trying to understand Proxy and Optimized. I have no internet access at home, currently, so the help files are not available (I had to print to PDF the online version for reference). I have been importing with Proxy, assuming it gives me something quicker/easier to edit, and on output, it would go back to the source AVCHD files and emit full resolution 1080. At least, I hope it works that way.
In my projects, as I move forward, I will be shooting only in 1080 and trying to output 1080 files for TV and for YouTube. This, alone, would take more time even if everything else is similar.
But geez, the time it takes to output a 30 second TV ad was just mind blowing :( I had a 3 minute video of a band playing a song, and it was taking almost two hours to export and post to YouTube!

  • Any trick to managing apps in iTunes 9?

Not sure if this question should be posted here or in the iTunes section ..
I have my apps on pages sorted by the application type. I have utilities on page 2, 3, Games on page 4, 5, and so on. [Aside: I wish Apple implements grouping of apps on tabbed pages. Then I can display only games if I need to, without flipping through pages of app icons].
If I install a new App, it adds the icon to the last page. If I drag and move that new app to page 2, then instead of cascading all icons through the rest of the pages, it puts the "extra" icon from the bottom of page 2 all by itself on a new page. I have to drag that on to top of page 3, and the process repeats itself until the last page has the added icon.
This is tedious. Is there any trick in application pages management so that the icons "flow" down to the next pages if I insert an app on a page?

Interesting idea but, unfortunately it didn't work. I am actually able to synch my apps by checking or unchecking one of the other options such as movies. Weird.
    Thanks for the idea though.

  • NI-DAQ 6008USB: any trick to use PGA also for RSE inputs?

    I'm using a NI-6008.
The sensor that I'm using, give me 0..1.5V in output and it's powered by
+5V of the 6008 so it share the same GND with 6008:
    +5V
    [SENSOR] -----out----> >--AI0
    | >--GND
    --- GND
In this scenario, must I configure input as RSE input?
(DAQmx_Val_RSE in NI-DAQmx) or I can configure input as differential
    input (DAQmx_Val_Diff in NI-DAQmx)?
But, so doing, I can't use PGA to achieve full scale, since Gain=1 when
    RSE inputs are used.
Is there any trick to force use of PGA also with RSE inputs?
    Thanks in advance

If you are using 4 AI channels or less and you're using the same ground all around, you can operate in differential mode and ground the - terminal and connect your measurement to the + terminal.  This will allow for the use of the internal amplifier which will give you a higher effective resolution.
