How many cores (CPUs) does After Effects and Premiere use in the CS6 version?

We are still running with the CS6 Master Collection on a Mac Pro (12 core). We're looking to upgrade to the latest Mac Pro but was curious whether AE or Premiere can even leverage all 12 cores? Fact is if it can't, it would make more sense to get less/faster cores that the product can use. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Adobe decided to discontinue development of Spry in August last year, and Dreamweaver CC made the switch to using jQuery UI widgets and effects. One reason for dropping Spry was that it failed to work correctly in some browsers. I've tried to lower the quality, and with pure magic, it now works, even when I put highest quality. I don't understand what happened. I asked you how to disable openGL because they told me to in the last discussion. So, thank you for repairing my problem (I think you repaired it, i'll make tests to see). Just in case, could you verify if it's posible to disable openGL like the other person told me?

I’m new to Captivate. I received a .cpvc file which is basically a screen capture of using a website. I can create animation of a company logo, and other effects using After effects and I also have Premier. I need to integrate this with the .cpvc presentation.

Right now, after I import a new file, I have to then go searching for it amid all the other files in my project. It would be extremely helpful if the file I just imported was already highlighted and selected after import, making it instantly "locatable" and ready to go.

in a perfect world, you do know the recording date, and you simply scroll to that date.
in a very perfect world, all your other imports are already tagged, so just have to create a smart list 'unrated' ...

Without proper system information and an exact description of what you actually did nobody can say anything. Sorry, but "I believe..." is just not particularly meaningful, especially since you mentioned that you had issues, which you also haven't explained.

How do I create an after effects file with an interchangeable image

Hey,
hope someone can help me, I'm using after effects to create a mp4 file, it contains a photo which has a animation super imposed ontop of it.
When the projects finished the base photo that the animation is created around could change up three times a day.
What I'm trying to work out is a way for a non technical user to just be able to upload the new photo to somewhere and for the animation to be created and returned somehow to him so that the animator doesn't have to re open and edit the affect effect project each time a new photo comes in.
Is there a way to do this built into after effects does any one know?

For that kind of volume and unattended operation, you want InDesign Server – which is the server/high volume edition of INDD.

How to link layers in After Effect by script?

Hi!
Is it possible to link one layer to another in After Effect by script?
I would build the custom effect with parameter like "Gradient Wipe" have: Gradient Layer.
The idea is: this connection is independent from the layer number. That mean any layers delete, re-ordering etc will not affect this connection.

If I'm changing the Custom Effect's content in PresetEffects.xml (adding the new parameter) then I can't load the old projects with old Custom Effect on layers.

Is there any way to use Adobe Extension Builder with After Effects?

I have been using Script UI and Javascript within the ExtendScript Toolkit to build panels for After Effects CC, but I like the way the Adobe Extension Builder works with Eclipse, and the power of including external libraries like JQuery. Is there any route to build extensions for After Effects with this or some similar solution?

I could not find any update of Extension Builder though which would support the After Effects extension development. How to batch convert with After Effects CS3

I sure hope this isn't a super silly question!
I have never used After Effects as it came with my Adobe Master Suite and it's quite duanting to learn all of those programs at once. I'm trying to figure out how to convert several MPEG files to AVI using a batch convert process. It would seem to me that would be a pretty simple process and I've read in several locations that it can't be done with Premiere Pro any more. They also say it can be done in After Effects but they don't explain how.
I'm pretty new to video editing so layman's terms would be much appreciated. I'm running After Effects CS3 on Windows XP.

It can be done, but After Effects is far from being a specialized encoding application. A bit like using a ten ton truck to commute
In CS4, threre is such an specialized app. It's called Adobe Media Encoder, and it can be used in standalone mode or invoked from within Premiere Pro or AE.
Remember, After Effects is a content creation tool that offers multiple ways to render the content you create. But it's not an utility to convert or encode video formats.
If you really want to do this in AE, this could be a way:
Import all your MPEG files in the Project Panel.
Select them all (drag with your mouse or make Project panel active, then Control+A on Win or Command+A on Mac).
Drag them all to the New Comp button at the bottom of the project panel.
You will get a dialog which offers to place all these files in a single After Effects Composition, or create a separate Composition for each. Select the latter.
In the Project panel, select the resulting compositions and go to Composition > Add to Render Queue. Set each item to AVI format with your codec of choice.
Of course, there are a million variables that couldn't be discussed in a single post or thread.
As you can see, you are performing a lot of steps because After Effects is designed to render video once you have created content in the form of After Effects Compositions. In that context, these steps would not be "a lot" - you arrive there quite naturally.

How to export clips to After Effects for Compositing

I want to export clips from my timeline into After Effects to add some compositing of clouds and sky replacement.
FCP 7
AE CS5
OS 10.6.8
I dragged the clips from my timeline back into the Browser into a new bin but when I export from there, the dimensions aren't the same as my project.
My project is 1920x1080 and when I export the edited (spliced) clips from the browser, they're 720.
I don't want to go into my raw files and try and eyball where I spliced the clips b/c each video file is about 2 gigs and I'm only using a small section of each clip.
Any suggestions on how to do this?

It is much easier just to use Automatic Duck's Pro Import AE which will allow you to send your timeline to AE.
AE will use the existing media that is called for by the FC timeline, you don't have to copy/export the media files.
Used to cost several hundred dollars, now FREE as the creator has gone to work for Adobe.

But how do I host it on my site, please?
Do I have to make it a different format of file, then upload it like all my other files. Also how can I reduce the amount of memory it uses, so it doesn't effect my webpage.

After Effects creates Videos therefore you need to render a video and post the video on some kind of streaming server like Vimeo or YouTube. There are presets in the Adobe media encoder for both of these hosting services that work great.
If you do not know anything about rendering video then please search rendering in the aftereffects search help field at the top right corner of the app.

How to fix a bad After Effects CS3 disk?

In 2007, I got the CS3 Master Collection. It took me over 2 days to get almost all the applications to install properly. I ended up copying all the DVDs to a common folder on the desktop and running the install from there. I've used this technique a few times for hardware upgrades since then with one error every time. Everything but After Effects copied/installed - this particular disk kept throwing out an 'unable to read blah, blah' error (hey, it was a long time ago). This was documented and traced to a bad batch of AE DVDs and folks had the option to apply for new disk.
Being a still image person doing mainly Photoshop and InDesign, I kind'a just forgot about it - until recently when I finally started doing some video using Premiere Pro. Anyway, it looks like now the only way to get a working version of AE is to upgrade the whole Master Collection to CS4 (!). For a whole bunch of $$$ reasons I don't see that happening for a while. I emphasize that I am the legally registered user of the suite - I just need a working copy of AE CS3 to install from. Any ideas?

Maybe I'll have my wife do it, and break down in tears halfway into describing my dumb-assed neglectfulness. That’ll cost me something
