Any update on Vista-64 driver situation for Treo 700W?

I've read enough threads to learn that mine is not a unique problem - but I haven't been able to tell whether the problem yet has a solution.
Treo 700W - Active Sync works superbly on Windows Vista 32-bit - However, it doesn't work on Vista 64-bit. The device is recognized by the USB port (chirp chirp), but never appears in Active Sync. Apparently this means that the OS isn't able to recognize the device, and I'm guessing that means that Vista needs the right driver.
I'll try the Bluetooth solution if there's nothing better yet, but didn't want to dig out and install the Bluetooth add-on for the laptop if I didn't have to.

Well, not yet I have to go home tonight, go through some boxes, find the USB Bluetooth aerial I was given about a year ago, see if that works on Vista-64, and then try the Bluetooth solution. Probably over the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, I'll just keep syncing with my Vista-32 desktop and, if stuff gets too far out of date, do an export/import of Contacts and Calendar between the two computers. (Not the way I want to leave things very long!)

Are there any sound cards with best driver support for Arch?

I was wondering if there are any sound cards that have the best driver support for ArchLinux? I currently own a Creative Labs X-FI Platinum Edition. The main reason I like the Platinum is that has an interface you can plug MIDI and Audio ports into. It seems to me, however, that Creative is the worst company to support Linux drivers. If anyone has any opinions, please feel free to comment. According to all my research, ALSA sound drivers are the most supportive for sound. Am I also correct in this assumption?

Any updates on Portlet/Servlet session sharing (for AJAX)

Hey all,
I've found a few threads about accessing the portlet session from a JSP that have gone stale. Has anyone found a good method for sharing the session in this way?
I've read through Peter Moskovits ts-1941 presentation, but it's difficult to really follow by itself...and I'm reading through the paper on "Integrating Password Protection" and deep linking. I think I'm following all of the requirelments it lists to be able to access the session in "deep link" pages but no luck yet.
Any one have some working examples? I'm pretty new to portlets so, some of the Oracle classes in the PDK are still unfamiliar terrain for me.

An update. I adjusted some of my settings and now I can get things I create in my session in the portlet code to be visible in my JSP code when I make AJAX calls. Great.
My problem now is that I can't get the actual portlet code to see the session objects. I'm trying the code I found in the Portal Developer's Guide to store the number of render requests in session:

When I ran this code, I see a count of 1 on the first attempt. Then my session object disappears and I'm told the session has become invalid. I turned off the "same cookie domain" option and now my counter works correctly, but my JSPs no longer can see the session variables through session.getAttribute(...).
I think I understand why turning off the "same cookie domain" stops the JSP from seeing the session object (even though my portlet is deployed on the server). Why does turning on "same cookie domain" stop the portlet from seeing the ProviderSession object after the initial request?

Promise T3 SATA RAID controller Vista x64 driver OK for W7 x64?

Before I walk down the path of tears again, or at least roll the dice, has anyone used the Vista 64bit drivers for the Promise T3 controller that comes with the K9A2 Platinum on W7 64 bit? And if so, did they work?

I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on weather an SSD upgrade for the current 2013 Mac Pro will be available soon. I bought a new Mac Pro 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 12GB RAM for my music production for my studio, however I'm now finding the small SSD a limitation to working with software that needs a lot of space available on the hard drive to install. As far as space for files, I use a external hard drive so that doesn't really matter. I've been constantly checking the web ever so often to see if there is any updated news on pcie ssd upgrades for the new mac pro but can't find anything. OWC did make a prototype SSD for this machine and rumours were that in the 4th quarter on this year they would be available for the public, however that doesn't seem to be the case...
I really wish I went for the 500gb version now even if it was a bit more expensive.
If anyone has any information on when aftermarket pcie based ssds for this machine will be available it will be much appreciated.

Please tell me there is , as I promote Palm on my website, which gets many hits, I would want to go back and tell everyone to not bother getting a Palm product as it has problems with Vista support.

I am really sorry that you are having issues syncing your Tungsten device. We appreciate your business and wish to keep it. We do support Vista, however, we do not have compatible software witht eh 64 bit version as of yet (only 32). You can try our Palm Desktop 6.2.2 software and see if you can get it to work but most likely it either won't or will give you problems. It is posted in our downloads for Palm desktop:

Also, you are using an end of life device that may not sync up with Palm Desktop version 6.2.2. My suggestion is download and install a version of Palm Desktop 6.2.2. and see if you can establish a cable sync before you try to sync with bluetooth.

Windows vista, Ipod shuffle 4th gen. Computer cannot find device driver software for ipod.

After several hours trying the troubleshooting options provided by the apple support site, I have come to what I think is the issue here. My girlfriend recently got an ipod shuffle and when plugging it into her computer the dialog pops up saying it is installing device driver software for the ipod. Eventually it asks me to insert the CD that came with the ipod. No CD came with the ipod, so I click the option that says "I do not have my cd". Then it gives me the option of searching automatically or manually for the driver software. The automatic way can't find it. Doing it manually, with the help of the troubleshooting page, didn't work either. google search can't seem to help me on this one. Also, I tried plugging the ipod into my computer (not hers) and it worked fine, it was able to install the device driver software on its own. Does anybody know the issue here? My computer has windows 7, and hers has vista. Hers is Serice Pack 1. When I tried installing service pack 2 it wouldnt work. I don't know if that is the issue though. I have tried just about everything, I think the issue is finding the device driver software. When I do a google search nothing comes up, so I have no idea what to do at this point. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have a 13" Macbook Pro (Mac OS X, Version 10.5.8). For a long time now, I haven't been able to run any software updates on my computer.
When I open Software Update, there are 6 items available for updating (including AirPort Utility 5.6.1, Java Update 10 version 1.0 and Safari version 5.0.6) but whenever I try to run an update, even if I do so individually, as my computer restarts and begins updating, at the very end it cancels. There are also updates for iTunes as well as other applications that I would like, but I believe the main issue is that I can't update the main software.
Does anyone know why this is occuring or what I can do to fix the problem?

How large is your hard drive and how much space do you have left?
Boot up from your Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
If Disk First aid is unable to complete the repair you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer, repair permissions and try Software Update again.

my lenovo H430 is about 6 months old - worked okay with preinstalled Windows 8
After update to Windows 8.1 computer no longer seemed to work well at all, although I am unable to provide hard evidence, but clearly it was not working as smoothly as in the previous 8 version with lots of irritating little problems - including sound.
One thing that very clearly was not functioning as it had in 8 version was the USB disconnect icon. In 8 you only had to click on icon and the USB selection window would open immediately. Additionally all USB connections would be shown - back and front USB. Select the USB to be disconnected and it would be disconnected immediately (providing not in use). After update to 8.1 this was no longer the case.
In 8.1 disconnect icon no longer worked as it had done in 8. After clicking on icon there was now always a lengthy pause, followed by the sound of the computer working (whirring sound) and then after a while the USB selection window would finally open. Sometimes it was necessary to click on icon a few times to get any reaction at all. A small MP3 player I had charged up on my computer every morning (front USB) in windows 8, was always in USB list, and disconnected without problem in 8. In 8.1 it was no longer in list and only charged sporadically (would stop charging, but if I clicked on USB icon it would start charging again - although still not shown in USB list).
After about two weeks of 8.1 my screen suddenly - but only briefly - went black twice. I ran a sfc /scannow. problems were found but could not be resolved. I did a Dism /Online/Clean-Image/RestoreHealth this was reported as being successful. About two days later my computer went into blue screen BSOD - "critical-services-failure" - from which I was unable to get out of. The only option open was the Lenovo restore option. Computer was returned to factory state with los of all data.
back to Windows 8 the computer once again worked okay - no problems - and USB icon once again worked correctly (including with MP3 player).
About 2 weeks later after receiving MS messages to update to 8.1 I called Lenovo support and asked about update to drivers for 8.1.
the following list was given:

I updated to 8.1 and then updated all the above drivers (no USB driver update was available).
The same problems as the last update to 8.1 and USB was as bad as it was in last 8.1
Some days later my computer went into blue screen BSOD once again - although this time did not stay stuck there, and quickly restarted - due to speed of restart I did not get time to read all the text and discover the cause of BSOD.
Computer is still running badly - particularly the USB icon disconnect.
Called Lenovo support but they have been no help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Despite the AMD driver giving an error during install at the last stage of the suggested fix, this has now yielded a working switchable graphics for my S540 for the first time with Windows 8.1. Catalyst Control Center also works for the first time, so thank you to both the above-mentioned posters for a solution that does work.
Hopefully in time AMD will release a non-broken updated AMD driver and CCC package.

No to connect,
Install from a list or specific location,
Select Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install,
For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices'
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".
Ignore XP when it complains.
Reboot.

OSX 10.8.5 Can't install any updates for any of my 3rd party software

Don't know if any of you out there can help me but for some reason I am unable to install any unpdates for ANY of my third party software on my System Drive or any other drive for that matter. I continually get the little yellow triangle on the drive icon at the "destination select" stage of any update installation. Ive never had this problem before and it's only been happending over the last week and i haven't changed any OSX settings. Also im logged in as the Administrator and have the permissions set to read & write to all my drives.
Has anyone experienced this too?????

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.
