Any update on win 8.1 update...

Any update from verizon on win 8.1 update

Since Verizon chooses to keep us in the dark regarding this update, we are free to assume whatever we want, so my assumption (correct or incorrect) is that Verizon is purposely withholding this update because releasing it would make the Icon a better phone than the new HTC One M8 for Windows and they wouldn't be able to sell as many HTCs if people want the Icon instead.  Check out the current status of the Icon on their website (listed as "back ordered will ship by 9/4").  Guess this shows the Icon is in very high demand.

    Hi,
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again"
I've got the error (80071A91) that others have experiences while trying windows update and for the life of me I cannot get the updates to install.
Looking for the past 4 hours via Google, trying different recommended things and still no luck
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_update/unable-to-install-updates-getting-error-code/27a21977-f964-4376-bfab-2f29ea127c6a
    # SFC /scannow causes the "repair status message" and asks for reboot.
I've downloaded fix-it, tried booting into a system repair/restore disk using command line to run
    #sfc /scannow /offline....
using the dispart to LIST VOLUMES  (based on this http://mikemstech.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/how-to-perform-offline-system-integrity.html )
I've tried #fsutils resourse set autorevert=true (or something, can't find the exact post as I've rebooted so many times)
I've tried dismc.exe (or similar without success)
Basically I'm stuck with these updates (~10 of them) always sitting there downloading, installing every time I shut down the PC.
Running a system repair disk created in windows still does not allow #sfc /scannow....
My Last system restore was 04/08/14 and I cannot even restore the system to this point as the restore fails and asks to remove itself once I restart the system.
    Details:
OEM version of windows purchased legally and genuine microsoft logo in system dashboard.
    Intel Core I5 -3330
    16GB RAM
    Windows 7 Pro - 64bit OS
    Service pack 1
**NOTE** I have the C drive hooked up in RAID 0. Two(2) * 60GB SSD disks in RAID 0 used as C: via BIOS RAID
    Secondary storage disk a D:
Been working and updating fine for the past 5-6 months.
I have the Optical drive setup as O: and a Daemon tools virtual drive as drive E:
While running DISKPART and using LIST VOLUME I see this:
currently the system seems to have lost all update history
Any information or help on this is appreciated. I don't want to reformat and reinstall, I don't really want to 'repair' and wipe my current software installation so I'm hoping there is a way.
Anyway I can get the 'pending state' removed.?
    Thanks in advance
    David

Hi, I've rebooted into Repair mode (Console), (because repair said windows is installed on E:) run dism.exe /image:E:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
This gave a message about small scratch space but did say something out a fix. Upon reboot into safemode with console I received the same message
    "C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.
There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete.  Restart Windows and run sfc again."
I then rebooted and tried SCF again, no luck... Same message, same updates still sitting there.

  • Win 8.1 update - sound popping / glitch in MetroTube and all APPS when scrubbing video

My phone Nokia 1020 was working fine. I then downloaded the over the air update for Win 8.1 and Cyan on Thursday 7th August from O2.
Since then I have experienced a loud popping / static noise when playing video in all apps (except StoryTeller)
    Using built-in speaker:
When I play video in any App with a video scrubber and I scrub the time-line and realise the scrubber it makes a loud click or static pop.
    It happens in everything including:
    Mytube
    Metrotube
    Tubepro
Photos App (i.e Microsoft one - playing a recorded video in they all now have a loud click / static pop)
Xbox Video App (i.e Microsoft's own App)
    Using Headphones:
There is no load click (It plays how it used to)
The odd bit is using the speaker and playing music tracks (mp3s etc) and scrubbing there is no static popping click it plays fine.
    Video In Web Browser Fine:
Playing YouTube Videos in the web brower there is no popping / static click noise.
I have just downloaded 'xVideo' App and played a HD Music video in it and used scrubber and there is NO loud click.
Sound Glitches in Audio Clips at end of recordings in all these Apps:
    Babbel - Learn Spanish
    Coolang - Learn Spanish
Zeemish - Learn Spanish for Beginners
its really annoying and makes trying to listen and remember pronunciation of words difficult and frustrating. Phone was ok before Microsoft Windows 8.1 update now have this issue and issue with static build-up causing popping when fast forwarding through
videos. :( I am feed up
    Conclusion:
This is software bug? please can anyone help/advise me on how to fix this and if anyone else is having same glitch with 8.1 update :(
All I can think of to fix is to somehow downgrade to Windows 8 if that's possible? :( *update its not possible using Nokia Recovery as it puts back Win 8.1.
It is a Software bug introduced in Windows Phone 8.1 update. It effects everything! including
Microsofts own Video Xbox App and
Photo App. See other people frustrations on this issue, its been going on since April!!!! please can you fix this is ruining my Windows Phone experience:

  • (NET IO.SYS) ERROR REPORT OCCURS OFTEN AFTER UPDATE of Win 8 to Win 8.1!

Computer continually freezes and goes into shutdown mode, with error code appearing DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL(NET IO.SYS) and message appears stating Computer has encountered a problem; and needs to shutdown & restart.  We have a new HP 500-047cb
desktop model , which is only a few months old.  Everything functioned in an excellent manner, until this update for Win 8.1.  Now we have this recurring issue, which has been suggested as relating to driver update. Upon checking drivers, have found
everything is up to date. And there no updates waiting to be applied.  Can anyone help explain a viable solution?  According to Microsoft the Windows 8.1 update was successfully installed!  We not experts, but it seems that there is need
for a serious fix or upcoming update to correct operations to best possible system.  Understand there is a new update, how soon will be possible to access?

    Hi,
In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
    1. Navigate to the %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
    2. Copy any and all DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
    3. Upload the zip containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Prefered sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers.
4 (optional): The type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference
between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains
much more information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best
choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps are much larger in size due to containing much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
If you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:
Upload photos and files to Onedrive.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon use.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
    1. Start > type %systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
    2. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all
    drives'.
    3. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system
    log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
    4. Double check that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than
Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.
If you cannot get into normal mode to do any of this, please do this via Safe Mode.
    Regards,
    Patrick

    Hi Appraiser Genie,
I found you have posted the
similar thread a few days ago, I suppose they are the same issue. As Ethan said, we need to collect the event logs and see if any related error is logged.
On the other hand, we have not received the related issue report about the updates of Windows 8.1 in Feb. Thus, I can't confirm this issue causes by these updates. I recommend you remove these updates to check if this issue still occurs.

  • Win 8 Monthly Update - T430S WAN Miniport Problem

The May 2013 monthly update for Windows 8 leaves a Device Manager error, as well as an error message in Lenovo Solution Center.  Four T430S machines receive push updates published by Microsoft every 2nd Tuesday of the month.  After this month's push updates, all machines have the same WAN Miniport error in Device Manager.
2 machines were restored to before the May 2013 push updates, and the error went away.  Unfortunately, out of the 13 or so updates, the one that appears to be causing the problem is a major update to the OS.  However, the push updates do not cause any errors with T61Ps.
Unforutunately, the WAN Miniport cannot be uninstalled.  It is part of the network stack.  So far, the only way to avoid the problem is to disable Win 8 push updates on T430S machines.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The T430S machines have Intel Ultimate-N 6300 AGN WLAN cards with 3 antennas.
A few months back, there were intermittitent issues with WLAN connectivity.  Oddly, the signal strength was strong, but with intermittent internet access.   After r&r (removing and replacing) with a new WLAN card from Lenovo, it did not fix the intermittent WLAN connectivity issues.
The WLAN connectivity issues were isolated to weak wireless N internet access performance from the Intel wireless AGN driver.  Changing the wireless N channels at the router improved performance marginally (BTW, N channels have different power requirements that affect performance.)  However, internet access was still intermittent.
Wireless N WLAN performance dramatically improved when the router was physically 10-15 feet away at most.  Since this was not practical, the best work around was to disconnect the machine from the wireless N network and setup a wireless G network at the router.  Since then, the range has been excellent with no intermittent connectivity issues.
So far, machines with KB2836988 have not affected wireless G connectivity and performance.  Apparently, if you unhide the devices in Device Manager, KB2836988 created a second WAN Miniport for Network Monitoring #2.  The second WAN Miniport is the device with the error.  From my earlier post, the only was to get rid of the error is to do a system restore to a point before the May 2013 push updates and manually hide KB2836988.
I plan on doing a system restore on another T430S machine to get rid of the error.  This time I am going to try and hide all of the other updates except for KB2836988.  I am hoping by isolating the KB2836988 as the first push update, I can get rid of the WAN Miniport error.  If all goes well, the other updates will be installed afterwards.

  • Win 8.1 Updated Hosed my Laptop

    Hi,
A few weeks ago, I was prompted on my HP ENVY TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx (C2K73UA) with auto-update for Wins 8.1.  I accepted and now my computer will not boot up and it rendered it unusable.
It attempts to start up but then just goes black forever.
How can I recover?  There is not disk drive, I have not boot up disk or any way to try to force a reboot.  Any ideas?  Please help me!

I hope you backed up your data. As in copied all your personal files like music, pictures, videos and software.
If you have done this, you can try pressing F11 at the HP logo to perform recovery.
Note that recovery erases/deletes all your personal files and I would not recommend it if you have not backed up your data.

  • Qosmio X870-149 - Black screen after Update to win 8.1

After an update to win 8.1 I got a black screen after login , the only thing I could do was to press zero during startup and make a recovery installation .
It took 40 houres , I do not know why it took so long , but when it was over, the HDD was completely empty , so I installed win 7 instead , since I had not made ??a recovery CD . The problem now is that I still get black screen in between , and thinking that it might be a heat problem , I still have warranty , but I do not know if it applies when I installed win 7 on the machine.
I still have a warranty on my toshiba Qosmio

    Hi
Well, the warranty covers the hardware related problems. It does not cover any issues related to the software.
Now the open question is: why the black screen appears?
Is it hardware or software issue?
What happens if you access the BIOS?
Can you see anything on the screen?
Is something visible on the external monitor?

  • Finder / Automator not seeing updated (by Win) directories

    Hi all
I am trying to create a workflow where part of the acction is done by Win, then some part by Mac.
Win and Mac part a working fine by themself.
    Parallels runs Windows XP
The Win part creates a file inside the Win directory. This same directory is visable on the Mac side but does not update when Win saves the file.
Consequently Automator does not see the update and never starts the next part of the process on the Mac side.
How can I force the update on the Mac side?

  • Today told not to update to Win 8.1 (new computer)

today Advised by Lenovo 'not' to upgrade to 8.1 because...
Still in Box 520 57317164 -  haven't set it up yet !!!  Called Lenovo Software support division today (1/9/14) - advised by more than one tech there not to do the free 8.1 upgrade at present time -they've been getting 'distress' calls by those who have done the upgrade with various problems as a result thereof & that required drivers are not yet available for win 8.1 therefore trying to run 8.1 on a machine with only Win 8 drivers can cause problems -and that when available,  Microsoft will include the 8.1 drivers for the Win 8. machines as a normal 'update" and/or when it's clear to do the 8.1 update.
I am pretty uneducated when it comes to computers. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks so much

I want  to know if I can install "BIOS update for win 8" in my lenovo t410 with windows 8.1..

sorry any mistake in english, I am from Kosova <3

    Hello.
The Windows BIOS upgrade isn't OS specific, it runs on all OS's between XP-Win8.1, even if it doesn't list 8.1 specifically.
You can either update it manually, using the update here:
BIOS Update Utility for ThinkPad T410, T410i
Or make a bootable CD/USB with the ISO file here:
BIOS Update Bootable CD for ThinkPad T410, T410i
Either way works like a charm on a Windows 8.1 machine, but be aware of the risks involved in updating your BIOS.
