Any users in Melbourne been experiencing extremely slow or irregular downloads of movies?

2nd Gen Apple TV, Airport network with full strength wireless signal. ISP cable speeds good.
But in past few days movies have been slow to download or been interrupted as it downloads and catches up.
My side of things are at speed or above, anything going on? We gave up watching a movie tonight after trying to start it at least a dozen times in both HD AND SD.

I haven't been able to try a wired connection yet. I'm planning on getting the internet wired in this coming week. My internet connection isn't "slow", though- I'm able to browse the internet just fine. Whenever I attempt to download a movie or an update (or something through itunes or apple) the download rate will go up (10-13 mb/sec) but then over a period of time (sometimes seconds, sometimes half an hour or so) it will fall lower and lower, eventually getting so low that the connection is dropped. I've been attempting to update my iPhone to iOS 5 for the past two days.
My download timer currently says (28.5 kb/sec) 82 hours remaining
This isn't limited to huge software updates, though - as movies and music are just as bad.

Experiencing extreme slowness of the Admin console for any function in Weblogic 12.1.1.
Configuration is Admin server plus 28 JMS servers - no nodemanager - all on the same server.
When I bring up Admin console alone response is quick but bringing up JMS servers one by one will slow it down.
I did not experience this problem when this configuration was in Weblogic 9.
    Memory configuration is -Xms4g, -Xmx4g.
Any ideas what else I should check ?
    Thanks.

Recently my IMac with osx 10.4.11 has been running extremely slow. It takes forever for Safari to switch screens. You can hear the computer constantly working. To the point where I have tried restarting.I have run Sophos antivirus software and have found nothing. Any suggestions?

First remove the antivirus software, it's possible that could be part of your problem! Slow Mac's can be caused by many different issues, including failing HD's, a HD that is too full (OS X really likes to have about 10-15% of the HD available), insufficient RAM, etc.. Dreamweaver has been running extremely slow with reflow.css. Wondering if anyone else is encountering this issue? If so, any fixes or known variable that causes this to happen?

I haven't see this. Can you describe a little more about what you are doing and what parts are slow? If there are specifc steps you can also file a bug with the Dreamweaver team:

  • I have been experiencing excessively slow upload speeds.  like, what the malfunction.  does someone have an explanation for such?

when uploading a movie either to theater or to share, i have been experiencing excessively slow upload speeds, as well as varying upload time.
-excessively slow speeds, such as a 1-minute video requiring more than 1-hour 44-minutes to upload.
-varying upload speeds, as in the status circle will report an upload time of 1-hour, and moments later report an upload time of 4-hours.
also, when selecting "iMovie" as an application, it requires an excessive amount of time simply to load and appear on the monitor.

    Hi Julio,
We have removed the class-map for IPS and have done a clear local-host.
We have also changed the duplex (from Auto to full) and speed (from Auto to 100Mbps) on the outside interface.
it seemed the duplex we 've got was half when it was configured as Auto. We've asked our ISP to change in their side to full, but we've got half instead.
We did an upload test after those actions, the speed we got is 300KBps, it should be 8Mbps (download and upload).
when we send many upload at a same time, we can see from our monitoring tool that the bandwidth used is 8Mb.
We wonder we cannot get high speed when uploading a single file, the max speed is 300KBps.
Please, find below the output of
    sh int | inc error
            0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 1 interface resets
            0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 1 interface resets
            0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 1 interface resets
            0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
0 output errors, 2710 collisions, 3 interface resets
            0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
the 2710 collisions is on the outside interface (i think it was before changing duplex)
    sh cpu
    CPU utilization for 5 seconds = 2%; 1 minute: 1%; 5 minutes: 1%
when we plug a computer directly to the ISP device (IDU), the speed is high (about 650KBps).
what would you suggest us to do? (sure, we will rate all the helpful posts )

  • Anyone experiencing extremely slow downloads from Apple?

For the past 48hrs or so I've been unable to stream or download HD Video from iTunes store or iCloud on any of my devices, Apple TV's or Computers.
Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other HD Streaming services unaffected.  Internet up and running 45Mbps connection, working great. only thing affected is content from Apple, specifically content purchased and on iCloud.  iCloud account fine, Apple ID account fine.  Can access Apple.com, iTunes Store, Apple Store, Communities, and content, however, streaming, downloads extremely slow, almost unresponsive....
Is anyone aware of any slowdown issues, servers down, or other issues affecting access to content?
You know because Apple is always so forthcoming on these issues!
So far Ive found no mention of any issues in any of the communities....
    Thank You.

Apparently Adobe is having server problems. Other users have reported problems today.

  • Experiencing Extremely Slow Upload / Download Speeds AGAIN - Bradenton, FL

Experiencing very slow internet speeds for the last few days in Bradenton, FL area (4 Mbps / 4 Mbps). The exact same issue occurred approximately 2 months ago and took over two weeks to resolve. Turns out it was an area wide equipment problem that Verizon wouldn't address until they received a sufficient number of customer complaints. Very frustrating. Paying for sub-standard service. Looking to switch to Brighthouse in the New Year as this appears to be a never ending problem.

Here we are, 9 months later and I am AGAIN experiencing slow internet speeds. I am paying for fios speeds of up to 50/35 but am seeing 5/15 instead. This problem keeps recurring time and time again. Tech support refuses to do anything because I can get normal speeds to my nearest hub, but ANY hub beyond that is useless. When I do speed tests using other methods, I show slow speeds. I was on the phone with tech support for 2 hours only to be told that all the network technicians and gone home.
This problem crops up every so often. Tech support will not address the issue until a sufficient number of customers call in to complain. Each time the problem is finally solved weeks later and was due to some sort of equipment failure on Verizon's end.
Speedtest.net testing out of Ft. Myers is giving me 5.84 Mbps down and 14.87 Mbps up.
Speakeasy.net testing out of Atlanta is giving me 11.45 Mbps down and 23.54 Mbps up.
In the past I my router has been replaced and I have been told that the problem is with all of my computers. Hmmmm... I pay over $200 per month for fios service which includes tv and digital phone. I recently renewed my contract for 2 years thinking that this problem would not come back but it has for the THIRD time in one year. I have a 30 day money back guarantee with no penalty if I cancel my contract. At this point, I am so frustrated that I will be calling Verizon to cancel my service effective the end of the month.

  • Dell inspiron 14 3421 becomes extremly slow everytime i download microsoft office

Hi i bought this machine Dell Inspiron 14 3421 for school work and projects. it came with windows 8 and i bought microsoft office 365. everytime i upload the office the machine becomes sooo slow that it takes about 5 minutes for a simple word document to
open up. i am extremely frustrated and dont know what to do to fix it up!!!
i took the help of dell customer support so they made me go to factory setting after taking the back up of all the data...the computer became fast and it started working fine. so i downloaded the microsoft office 365 again it worked fine for 2 days and again
    it became extremely slow...
can you please help me to solve this problem??? i really dunno what to do and where to go.

    Hi,
Did you have this issue when opening other Office applications? Only Word?
The first thing to check is whether the document is on your computer or not. If the problem is evident in all documents on your computer (they are all slow in opening), then you may want to check your virus protection software.
When Word is not running, make sure you delete all the temporary files that Word may have left lying around various folders in your system.

  • Reset won't work!Trying to fix inernet connection: extremely slow to partial download only.

Have old iOs 106.8. Connection to internet was extremely slow, so, stupidly, updated Firefox to current iteration. Now nearly impossible. Connections are incredibly slow or incomplete. So - tried to Reset Firefox. THAT won't work. Keep getting "This is embarrassing"message re unable to load tabs, etc. and to close open windows. So I do. The only windows are Mozilla's, btw. Keep getting same thing. Round and round and round, etc.

There are several thing for you to check out.
    *1
Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
    Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see

  • Extremely slow internet data downloading

I have 2 other older Macs connected to my LAN both of which access the internet at normal speed. My new Mac mini pings addresses at the same rate as the other Macs but data download speed is extremely slow. Has anybody had this problem?

    Define extremely slow.
    Start with the basics:
    1. System Preferences -> Network -> Network Port Configurations.
Uncheck all the boxes except the method you use to connect to the network (airport checked if you are wireless, or Built-in ethernet if you are wired)
    2. System Preferences - Network -> Airport (or Built-in Ethernet depending on step 1.) -> TCP/IP -> Configure IPv6
    Change selection to OFF
Under DNS (Optional Box) you may wish to manually enter in the IP addresses of your Service Providers DNS servers.
    3. Because you have older Macs with an older selection of LAN hardware to access the internet you may want to see what the speed and duplex settings are on your box (access switch, broadband router, hub) and match those settings on your Built-in Ethernet if you are using that instead of Airport.
    4. If you are wired, switch cables with one of the older Macs.
    That should be a start.

  • I'm experiencing extremely slow response when attempting to open the control center from the lock screen, any suggestions?

When trying to access the control center from the lock screen, it takes anywhere from 2 to MANY swipes to get a response.  Never opens on the first try.

I'm not having the same problem, but there is a feature in the OS that attempts to discern from swipes to unlock and swipes to open control center. This is what you may be experiencing.

  • Is anyone else experiencing extremely slow shutdown with FCPX?

Working on a project normally, and I get spinning beachballs and slowdowns sometimes, but the real killer is when i hit command-Q.  It takes 15 minutes for the program to shutdown.  Most of the time it eventually will, but it seems totally frozen.  No processing, not accessing HD's, etc..
Further, i dont exactly have time to wait 15 minutes to restart my computer because its a solution i've found to keep the program running ok.  So, i force quit sometimes, I'm sure doing that isn't exactly healthy for my project files.
Has anyone experienced this?  Any solutions?  I searched for this but couldn't find it anywhere else..

Also experiencing hang on quit. For me, it follows a bug where the main viewer pane quits working (which happens occasionally when I have the gall to try to play something before it's done rendering.) Main viewer pane won't update--just shows a video frozen video frame, won't even preview items in the event browser pane. Everything else appears to be working until I play, and when the playhead gets to the unrendered segment, FCP hangs--I assume it's the same hang that happens if I try to quit instead of playing, though that's a pure guess.

  • Experiencing extremely slow pdf printing on new HP 8625 officejet -

Getting very slow printing of pdf's.  Tried setting in Advanced tab to let printer select color.  This did not help.  Using latest version of Adobe Reader and latest printer driver from HP.  Anyone have suggestions?  HP was no help in an hour chat.  They blame it on Adobe.  Makes no sense since my 9 year old HP Officejet had no such issue.

Any chance someone on "Staff" might address this question?
