Hi Everyone, Would like to know if there is any utility or tool whichextracts/exports security from planning application. By security i mean dimensional level security plus users andgroups. Or SQL queries to fire on planning repository. Or any workaround. Thanks,

I'm not 100% certain, but you can try the ESD tool on the hyperion community portal (www.hyped.biz). It was designed for Essbase, but it's possible that it will work properly on a planning cube. Besides dumping security, it captures server, app, and db settings, flags user and group exceptions, validates filters, and generally gives some nice feedback. -Doug.

We had a Planning System 9.3 Classic application. We wanted to create a replica of the same as an EPMA application. We used a utility to extract ADS file from classic application. Post that the classic application has locked i.e we are not able to edit it. All dimensions are in view mode. Kindly let us know how to revert back in edit mode for classic application.

Hi,
I think you have come across the bug in the EPMA extractor, if I remember correctly it changes a value in a table which stops you editing in classic.
You can resolve this looking at your planning system database.
There is a table called HSPSYS_PROPERTIES.
The field property_id is the application id, you find what application it relates to by looking at HSPSYS_APPLICATION
Once you know the id for your application
In the table HSPSYS_PROPERTIES look for a row with EDIT_DIM_ENABLED and change the value in the next field from false to true
Restart planning and you should be able to edit again.

Extract / export image from Pages

I have an image on a Pages document that I want to extract to save as the image only as a jpg.
I've found the following link to an answer: Extract/ export images from a Pages document?
But I can't seem to find this File Info option on Pages 5.5.2.
Any ideas?

That instruction is for the version of Pages that works, Pages '09.
And you are not using Mavericks.
Before Yosemite it used to be possible to copy anything and create a new file in Preview .app just by going command n, but Yosemite now turns the clipboard into a low res 72dpi file, rasterising all text and vector content.
Like every thing Apple does lately, Yosemite is a huge step backwards and undoes all the good work that went into OS X in the last 15 years.
If the multiple items are all bitmap images, you can create a blank bitmap file in Preview:
1. Make a simple screen grab of a white area anywhere in view with command shift 4 > drag over area
2. Make that screen grab the size you want it to be under Tools in Preview
3. Open your original images in Preview and Copy/Paste them one by one into the blank file, positioning and resizing as you go.
4. Saving will freeze the final design as one image.

Extracting Dimension from Planning Application through EPMA File Generator

Hi,
I have a EPMA planning application (in version 11.1.1.2) and I want to extract its dimensions in to a ads file. I am using EPMA File Generator 9.3.1 for the purpose.
I am selecting the "From Planning Application" tab and entering all the required details, but when I execute... I get error "Unable to get metadata. Please check the web URL, application name, and application server."
I checked the web URL which is:
http://<server name>:8300/HyperionPlanning
and my application name & server are also correct...
Please help me to find out what exactly is going wrong here...

Why are you using 9.3.1 version, is there not a newer version in \Hyperion\products\Foundation\BPMA\EPMAFileGenerator\
Also if it an EPMA application you can use the EPMA tab to generate the ADS.

Java.util.logging: write to one log file from many application (classes)

I have a menuapp to launch many applications, all running in same JVM and i want to add logging information to them, using java.util.logging.
Intention is to redirect the logginginfo to a specific file within the menuapp. Then i want all logging from all applications written in same file. Finally, if needed (but i don't think it is), i will include code to write logging to specific file per app (class). The latter is probably not neccessary because there are tools to analyse the logging-files and allow to select filters on specific classes only.
The applications are in their own packages/jars and contain following logging-code:

Is it possible to write loginfo to same specific file?

You should open/close it somehow at every write from different processes.
But I personally prefer different file names to your forced merging, though.

1) Extraction: Using custom program for legacy or third party tools
2) Transformation: Third party tools
3) Loadting: SAP provided techniques, in mycase I am using LSMW.
Q1 ) What are the third party tools we use typically for doing extarction and transformation ?
Q2 ) At what step data cleansing and data staging takes place in above Three steps.

I would say that data cleansing could begin before the data is actually extracted from the source system, if needed. In some home-grown systems, you may have obselete data or plain corrupted records which you do not want to bring to the other system, obviously you can simply delete these records from the source DB. You could also do some data cleansing when converting the legacy data to SAP data.

Als Export Methode ist der CSV Export möglich, via:

Dann der übliche Weg ins BW via ftp o.ä..
Im Oracle des BW bestünde die Möglichkeit die CSV Datei als External Table in einem eigenen Oracle Schema bekannt zu machen und dann die CSV Datei wie eine Tabelle über einen BW-DBConnect auf seine eigene Oracle Datenbank anzusprechen oder ebendirekt als BW CSV Extraktor.

I'm porting a J2EE app from WebLogic to S1AS7. The ISV uses Ant/XDoclet to do some code generation and build. One of targets in the build scripts is to take as input an EJB JAR file and create all the needed web service components and package them into a deployable EAR file using WebLogic's servicegen Ant task

Is there anything similar in S1AS?

We had looked into doing something similar, and this post is the closest we found.

Basically you will need a middle-man between Qualys and ConfigMgr to house the data. This may be a new database, or a whole seperate platform. I expect this could easily be done with SQL and SSRS.
Also note, database edits to the ConfigMgr database are
not supported by Microsoft, I would recommend using a central system to pull data from Qualys and ConfigMgr without modifying either.

Error while extracting XML file from the application server

Hi ,
I am writing a XML file into the application server, after which when i try to extract the file to the local server using the report - RFASLDPC ,
the file is extracted, but with a '#' symbol at the first position.
Because of which the XML File does not open. But after i open the file in notepad and manually delete the '#' symbol and then reopen the file, it works fine.
Is there any way to remove the '#' symbol while extracting itself ??

Select the option "No Character Set Conversion" in stead of Code page 1100.
However, I still have troubles -> the downloaded xml file misses a space on several places. This causes errors too.

Request shows in Red status after extraction of Data from Planning area

Hi Experts,
I am extracting data from DP planning area to APO BW Info Cube. It was working fine but from last few days after extraction we are getting Red status of that request. However whatever data packages we are extracting we are getting same in to Info Cube also. But only status of that request is in Red.
I gone through step by step analysis I found "Data selection succesfully finished?" statement in Red status & rest are in green. When I gone through the details of this statement then I found Missing "Message:Selection Completed" in yellow status.
Any Idea? How do i resolve this issue?

Check the logs obtained after the extraction.
This only will tell you fare idea for you to proceed further
to resolve the error that has happened.
Also check whether the extracted data is correct by
random sampling of extracted data

Processing exported data from web application

Hi all,
here's my problem: I've got a Web Application designed in WAD and want to get the current navigation state (which is in the data provider) into an external application (i.e. a web service). What I already tried was to export the navigation state via SAP_BW_URL COMMAND='EXPORT' FORMAT='XML' and redireted it to a web service. But I wasn't able to get the XML document, I only got a XML_ID (as you can see in forum thread Accessing XML File).
Has anyone another approach to get the data exported and ready to be processed by a custom web service or external application (ABAP FM,..)?

This a SOAP Web Service which gives back query content, the query is defined within MDX Statement in a XML file.
There also exists a detailed How To Document in SAP Service Marketplace - but unfortunately i can´t found it.
