Is it at all possible to do minor video editing in STP?
I sent a project over from FCP and I've already done some audio work on it. So Im just now deciding that I'd like to make a change to my video.

You can only have 1 movie in the timeline, and you can't do any editing of it.

Try the Conform feature, Lower pane - 3rd tab. Look it over in the manual I think it's what you need.

Quicktime crashes when opening any video file type.

Hi, I've been having this problem for quite a long time now. When attempting to open a quicktime file or any other type of video file, the program crashes. It does not report any sort of error message. I've updated both quicktime and windows. I've tried everything that has been suggested in prior posts and have yield no results. This is really irrating me. I don't want to have wasted money on this program and I need this for class. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

The files I'm most concerned with playing are my animations exported from Final Cut and from another system's quicktime. These usually are quicktimes or .wma's that are either uncompressed or with a variety of compression, usually DV-NTSC, H.264, HDV 1080 60i, or mpeg4 for the web. But as I've professed before, it seem that the file type isn't necessarily factor. Any video file that should play in Quicktime does not and the program crashes. Upon this I get a very vague error message which reads "Quicktime Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." That unfortunately is as much detail as I can give at the moment. I know this is a vague problem and that my information is just as vague, but that is all I have gathered. Anything is appreciated.

I've created a 3d shockwave game that I would like to publish on the Internet. The only problem is that my cut scenes have to be played off of the computer (it can't be streamed on the web). How can I embed my video on the shockwave file?
I've tried .swf files but every file I try to imort triggers an error. Any suggestions?

Hi Cheryl, have downloaded both updates as suggestedt but had problems with them both :
Intel - error message "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". Tried a re-install and Windows Compatability popped up (twice) and I clicked on that and did not get error message after that so not sure if installed or not.
AMD - error message " AMD Catalyst Install Manager - Failures Occured during Install - when I was finally able to view log message was : Failled to access Catalyst Install Manager engine. Please ensure that no other instances of Catalyst Install Manager are currently running".
Checked my games - video cuts still not running and Match 3 games cursor still jerky and play very slow & stilted.
I noticed that both Java & Flash player are 32 bit (when my computer is 64) - would that affect my computer's performance ? The only other thing I can think of is that I recently downloaded Hola to have access to Netflix. The other weird thing is that I restored my computer to the restore point created before running DriverUpdate and it did not fix the problem.
I am really up the creek without a paddle now so anything you can suggest would be much appreciated !!

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

30GB 5G Ipod no longer plays any video -HELP!

I have a 5G ipod purchased toward the end of 2005. It always worked great until I went to play a video the other day. My ipod crashes every time I try to play any video, whether downloaded from itunes, homemade, anything. This isn't an issue of needing to turn the TV-Out setting off. I've tried restoring, reverting to previous firmwares (from 1.2.1 to 1.1.2 and 1.0, using itunes 7.2), formatting and restoring, everything I've seen on forums everywhere. It used to play video just fine, so I'm completely at a loss. If I select a video through the audio podcast area, it will play the audio portion. When I try to play videos properly, the screen stays blank and no longer accepts input - I have to reset the ipod. I know that I'm out of warranty so I'm probably boned, aren't I?

I just purchased my 30gb video iPod, and am running into almost the exact same situation. The only difference is that I don't have to reset it. It just won't play a movie at all. It starts the little "timer" thing that clicks around, but then goes back out of the movie. I know the movie is a good download, because I can watch it from start to finish within iTunes.
Anyone got any ideas? I really don't want to stay on hold for 1-2 hours waiting on a person to talk to with tech support!

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Quicktime doesn't open any video files (app loads, no video)

I've done my best to search for a solution, but I have come up with nothing.
Whenever I try to load any video files (.mov, .mp4, .avi, etc) Quicktime Player 10.1 opens, but no video file is displayed. Same results if I use the "open" command from within Quicktime. All of the videos play fine in VLC.
The only exception to this rule is when viewing a trailer on trailers.apple.com. If I "download" an HD trailer, Quicktime opens and begins to stream the trailer, however the ram runs away (8+gb instantly) and the computer starts chugging very badly.
In the old days I would have just reinstalled quicktime, however with how deeply it is integrated into Lion I am unsure of how to proceed (short of a clean install). Thanks in advance!

Uninstall the graphics driver.
Remove the display driver from Device Manager.
Reboot declining prompts to install a driver.
Run the generic installer program.
I'll see if I can find the original post, I had it in my clipboard manager but that has the unfortunate habit of killing off its database every few months

I can't search any videos on YouTube/Download any app from the App Store

Hi,
I am using movistar 3G network (Spain), full signal. Everything works fine, Stock app, Weather app, Mail, Safari... but I can't search for any videos on YouTube and can't download any app from the App Store.
I can see videos on YouTube app but only the featured videos, when I try to search the ones I want to see I get an error message "Cannot connect to YouTube".
The only problem is when searching videos on YouTube app.
When I try to download an app from the App Store I get a similar error message, "The download can´t be done, connect to iTunes" more or less, that's the sense of the message.
I can connect to the AppStore, surf it but when I press Install... I get the error message.
I know that my carrier, movistar (Spain) has an issue with secure webs (https), it's impossible to surf any secure web by now but I don´t know if this is related with my problems.
This happens with 2.1 and 2.2 firmware version.
I have the iPhone set in spanish from Spain and the time is right. By the way, using WiFi everything works fine, everything, I can search for videos on YouTube app and download apps from the AppStore.
I don´t know what more can I do, can someone help me? please. = (

FWIW, the only part of Java not installed is the Java Runtime Environment. Launch the Java Preferences.app in /Utilities and DL it when prompted. Then, enable plugins and Web Start apps.

I just upgraded to firefox 4 and it won't play any videos on the internet. Is there a fix for this or how can I go back to the previous version.

Can't see any videos in any browser

I am having this issue for over a month or two now, i can't play any videos on any browser, i tried firefox, then IE , then chrome, i re-installed all of them, updated flash, updated real player, downgraded flash , cleared browsing history,disable hardware acceleration, everything that i could do, but didnt get the issue solved, whenever i open a video on youtube or even dailymotion, the browser would start browsing but then everything would stop and i'd see a black screen , and when i right click on the video , instead of the usual drop down menu of flash... i get other menu with options like " inspect element" , "save" e.tc. please anyone could help ??? btw i have windows x.p , FF 17.0.1, flash 11.5 updated java, installed real player and updated it too ...,,

I have been having the same problem for several months. I have tried everything that I could find on the Iternet to no avail. The only thing that works is rebooting my computer. This works for an hour or so and then the problem returns.
