Any way to apply effects (warp, crystal, wrinkle etc) evenly to symetric geometric shapes?

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to evenly apply a warp, wrinkle, crystal effect/tool to a symetric shape like a circle and other geometric shapes???
Im I could probably cut the shape into parts and flip them over so that they look like they join all up then apply the effect to the one object which then evenly effects the others, actually thinking about it I'm probably starting to creep into keiloscope design.
Just wondering how other go about it? I've used the brush technique where you make a brush then apply that brush to the circle to make different even effects, are there other ways of going about it???

You might end up with, a circle.
Joking aside, in many cases the most efficient way is probably to apply them to partial shapes and then combine; especially in connexion with kaleidoscopic shapes, rotation, either round a common centre or of pairs, may have a place. And symbols may be your friends.

Any way to apply or modify Illustrator Effects or Graphic Styles in PathItems from a javascript scri

I see in the docs for Illustrator javascripting that "scripts cannot create new graphic styles" (lame, btw), and I can't find any member function or variable in the PathItem class that provides a link to any information about applied effects, graphic styles, etc..
e.g. from a PathItem object I can get the first fill color (in pathItem.fillColor) but I can't seem to find the second one anywhere (fillColor does not return an array). If my PathItem has a dropshadow or a glow effect, or has a graphic style attached to it, I can't seem to find any trace of it, even in the debugger's Data Browser. The class reference docs don't make any reference to any effects or filters at all.
Am I missing something obvious, or is it actually impossible to write a simple script that, say, adds a dropshadow to every selected item (without blowing away the current fill color)?

Yes, Actions is just AI's built-in macro recorder.
What's needed is for an Action to be able to reliably include the running of a script. (That's been broken for three versions now.) That would accomodate a range of other possibilities.

There is a range of things that the Javascript implementation doesn't touch (editing Mesh Points, for just one example). Some of it I can understand, because of the tediousness that would be involved in coding.

For each iPhone...
From the Summary tab select: Sync only checked songs and videos.
Under Options in the Summary tab select: Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi
If you want you can select: Manually manage music and videos.
Select the music you want synced from your iTunes library, same with Contacts.

Any way to apply Twist effect twice in opposite directions?

I am trying to draw a sun-like shape. I started with a star polygon and apply the Twist effect. That gets me pretty good arms on the sun, but I'd like for something a bit more flame-like, so I'd like to get the arms to now bend back in the opposite direction. Is there any way to use or modify the Twist effect so that I can apply it a second time but bend further out in the opposite direction? Or is there some other good way to get the rotation along all the arms that someone can suggest?

One way is this. Start with a triangle and modify its anchor points as shown below.
Take the Rotate tool and Copy Rotate that object around a common rotation centre.
Add a circle.
Select all and apply Pathfinder Unite. Change fill colour.

Any way to apply AppleScript into subfolder for windows properties?

I'm using the AppleScript below to set window's position and columns' widths to my liking. But I can only one window at a time. Is there a way to apply this script to all the subfolders? Automator can set window view to subfolders but can't set window's position and columns' widths.

You can open Finder windows for all of the subfolders of the front window, then loop through each one making your settings. Any way to apply presets to tethered shooting?

i can't find a way to apply a preset/set of presets/look to files coming in when shooting tethered....is there a way to do this?
apple really needs to find a way to make presets or looks possible....i find more ways to fine-tune aperture every day, but this is one glaring omission...yes i am aware of the work around to save presets, but there really should be a way to make this possible....

Some Wifi access points provide iPass as a selection when you authenticate (for example, the Philly Airport allowed me to specify "iPass" in the provider pull down for the ATT access point). Using your iPass username and password will work in those instances.
However, I haven't found the availability of iPass via access point login web interfaces to be wide spread.

I accidentally deleted all of my messages to my boyfriend. My icloud says I have never backed up my phone. Is there any way possible for me to retrieve the deleted texts or somehow receive a printed copy of them? They are very special to me as he is in the military and I don't want to lose them all. I'm so upset. Thinking of ditching Apple altogether.

If you did not back up the messages, they are gone. This would be true regardless of what brand of phone you have.
I don't understand what you mean about paper copies. Unless you printed out the messages, there would be no paper versions at all.

Any way to apply ActiveSync Policies by device?

Trying to find a conclusive answer to where this is possible or not...
Essentially, we have some users who wish to access email from Surface Pro tablets using activesync. Our existing policies that we enforce would require them to encrypt both the device, and any attached SD cards. The requirement for encrypted SD cards
doesn't work with the Surface Pro tablets, thus they would not be able to sync mail under the current policy. Since we have other means of securing the tablets, I'd like to relax that rule only for the surface pro, while keeping it in place for other devices
such as iPhone and Android. The problem is that since ActiveSync policies are applied at the user level, any user with multiple devices would get the relaxed policy regardless of device.
I was wondering if there was a creative way to enforce different policy aspects based on the type of device, rather than the user owning the device.

Any way to smooth skin or remove wrinkles? I have version 2.1.4

I am guessing I would need to import some of my pics into photoshop or pixelmator (a scaled down version a photoshop only for Mac's) in order to do what I want. I am editing some pics where the person's skin is not the greatest. I need to soften it and remove some wrinkles. Just to be clear, there is no way of achieving this in my version of Aperture is there?

I think you have answered your own question.... Aperture 3 can be used for removing wrinkles in skin and removing blemishes, & the new improved adjustment tools are great... 2.1.4 can spot heal as well but again A3 beats it hands down..
If you have Cs4 ? as I guess you know, its easy to edit from within aperture using cs4 as your external editor.
I have no knowledge of pixelmator...
I do use A3 & CS4, and without any glitches... on a daily basis.... A3 for me is preferable over my older version of 2.1.4

Any way to apply View NX/Capture NX type tags in Aperture 2?

I'm starting to get the hang of Aperture 2 now and am loving it - the filtering and keywording are amazing. One thing I've not worked out how to do though is to apply NX style tags or labels to images (Lightroom and Photo Mechanic both seem to be able to replicate this by colour coding).
My wife and I share the same camera when we go out walking, and I've been using tags to quickly flag her photos when we get back - it's good to have them as part of the record of the walk, but I want to be able to filter them out easily when working on my own images.
Can anybody suggest a good way of doing this in Aperture?

Any way to apply "chapter markers" in uninterrupted playback (without popup dialog box) ?

Long story short: I hate the default marker color of olive green, especially since my current project is shot in nature so they are essentially visually invisible when I look at the timeline with thumbnails on. So it'd be nice to use chapter markers (I've given them a hotkey) since they're vibrant red. But when I use the keystroke, the marker options popup dialog box appears. Is it possible to disable the popup?
I use markers by adding them on the fly while watching all raw footage stringed together in a dedicated timeline (to quickly weed out select takes). This is a somewhat common technique amongst editors who learned from old "film" film editors (they did the same with workprints & a grease pencil). Currently I'm having to press "D" to select the current clip playing, and then press "M" (custom hotkey) to mark the take. It'd be nice to do so in a single button push… anyone know of such a way?
Of course, just letting us change the marker colors would be nice too. Btw, I already did feature requests for these.
This issue alone causes me to just do projects in FCP7 still. I'm trying to finally fully transition to Premiere Pro with this one, but this marker thing is killing me... Adobe peoples if you're reading this.

Hi Ann, thanks for the suggestions. As with a lot of editors, having just the video head displayed occupies every clip's duration when looking at a long timeline. And dealing with the chapter marker popup is a huge speedbump when we're talking about literally dozens of markers.

We require a VI to show an image,covering the entire screen without any visible toolbars. This image will be used as a projector output so it is necessary for no other items to appear. This VI would be run simultaneously with a motor control VI. Please help!!!

You can set up a VI to be displayed as "dialog", which will remove all toolbars and scroll bars when it runs. This is done by going to the "VI Properties", selecting "Window Appearance", then choosing "Dialog". I have attached a sample VI that demonstrates how I would do this...it simply shows a picture in a picture control, and has a delay to show you the dialog appearance (no toolbars).
I wrote this example in LabVIEW 6.0.2...hopefully this is the version you are using.

Is there any way that a phone can be factory rested even if the restriction password is forgotten?

My phone was stolen a month ago and now I'm using my mom's old iPhone 4s. I want to rest the phone so it's back to the factory settings. The problem is that somehow the restrictions was enabled and she doesn't remember enabling it thus not remembering the passcode. This denies me from being able to reset the phone. So is it possible that I can override the restriction passcode?

Did the purchase go through e.g. does the game show in your account's purchase history ? If you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases (the most recent purchase is above the list). On your iPad you can only see a cut-down version of your purchase history (and optionally contact support) via http://appleid.apple.com
If the game shows on your purchase history but doesn't show in the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your iPad (you are looking at the 'All' view ?), then is it hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919 ?
