Any way to change speed of a clip without changing the pitch?
When I do the command-J and lower the speed, the pitch lowers which I do not want.
I don't think that's possible.
Think about it: when you slow down sound you are also slowing down the frequency of sound, making it sound lower and slower. The only way to slow it down and not change the pitch would be to take little sections of it and keep them apart from each other over a long period of time. However, this would not sound like your original audio file.
I don't know what you are looking for. Can you imagine a way in your head to slow down the audio, but not make it change pitch?
The only thing I can think of would be to slow it down normally, then try to correct the pitch using one of FCE's audio filters.

Is there any way to turn off a PB display without sleeping the computer?
I'm using my PB G4 12" to stream audio content from the web. I just purchased 7 megabit DSL service and I use iTunes to play internet radio pretty much constantly. As a result my PB never goes into deep sleep mode anymore. The HD does seem to spin down and the display goes dim but as long as iTunes is running the display is always, at least partially, illuminated.
Is there any way to sleep the display fully without putting the remainder of the PB into deep sleep which would interrupt my internet radio stream?
ThanksNow, If you want to turn off the screen as well, you can just use the energy saver pref pane in system preferances. Here you will see the option of "set display to sleep after X min" And set computer to sleep after X min.

How to Change Speed of One Clip Without Effecting Everything Else
I'm sure there's a way. I'm reworking a music video I shot and edited, which did very well in some local contests here in NYC, considering it was the only unsigned band. Now, after the shameless plug: I want to change the speed of a handful of clips and when I do, of course, all the clips on the timeline move with it. I then have to drag everything back. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
FCP 5.0.3I read about this somewhere. . . let's see if I can remember:
in the T/L, park on the edit, instead of match frame, do a match source file which is optioncommandF. This loads into the viewer, hit command J for speed - set speed, then edit back into T/L. Repeat for your other clips.
Just go back to the bin and check that your source clip hasn't had the speed change saved to it.

Is there any way to email photos from my 2g without compressing the file?
My wife's 2g stopped being able to sync to her PC some time ago. She emails photos to get them on her computer. The photos seem to loose resolution in emailing. Is there a way to get these photos without the degredation? All the wifi apps require iOS 4 which a 2g can't use and I can't restore the phone to reestablish sync because I can't back it up to begin with so we'll lose the photos. Anybody have ideas? Can I email in such a way that I won't lose quality?
If they are in an iPod backup, then restore another iPod, iPhone or iPad from that backup

Any way to add metadata to a jpeg without resaving the file?
I was surprised that opening a jpeg and looking at meta info, if I just added a word. PS ask to resave the file at what setting. Too much of a nuisance. Any ideas thanks! I know I could go back to the tiffs or psd, but these are watermarked already

Any way to start up a new iPad without using the pc that has iTunes loaded. My pc was stolen in Italy and I am still in Europe.
So you don't have the cords I assume and the battery is dead? If you already installed songs, apps and other stuff via itunes you should be fine. Just buy or use the cords you received. You may need to buy the electrical adapters for EU connections.

Quickest way to change speed but not clip duration
I'm trying to determine the fastest method for changing the speed
of a clip already in the timeline, but not the clips duration. Primarily, slowing a clip down.
The best I've come up with so far is to put the timeline playhead over the
clip and hit X to get the clips IN and OUT points placed in the timeline. Then,
drag the clip into the Browser, effectively making a copy of it there. Then bring the clip into the Viewer, then hit APPLE J to bring up the speed change window, affect the change, then overwrite the change you've made in the viewer back down into the timeline where you placed the original IN and OUTS. Seems like alot of step.
Is there a faster way? Any change I try to make in the timeline itself results
in a clip duration change. The only other way I've found it to use the time remap tool put that is even more complicated and is alot less exact when trying to make something, say, 50% slower.
Any input would be appreciated.Another, close but not quite there method I've tried is the TIME REMAP tool
that lives with the SLIP AND SLIDE.
I can affect speed changes, and see what percentage speed change I'm
trying to make, but it wants to change speed on both the left and right side
of the clip. In other words, I can't place the timeline playhead or Time remap tool at the beginning or end of the clip and only effect the speed of the entire
clip unless there is no clip adjacent to the clip I'm trying to change.
Otherwise it changes the speed as I want for 99% of the clip and then during
the last several frames I've accidentally sped up up those frames. I can't position it to just change the speed for the entire clip. -
Hi at the moment my ipod is on manual sync mode. Is there any way of changing this to auto-sync without losing the music on my ipod or library? Possibly more importantly is there a way I can transfer the ratings from my ipod onto my i-tunes?
This is so I can delete music from my ipod knowing its rated on my i-tunes so I can then see later if I want to re-add it based on its rating

I have a PS file whic I wanna use as template for several works. I've got several layers containing external images which have been "placed linked" and which are organised in a single folder in my computer. I believe the links are saved as absolute therefore if I copy the PSD file and the source images folder into a different computer (or even if I move the source folder to a different location in the same computer) all smart objects have to be relinked one by one!!! any way to do it all at once (as I guess it is the case in Premiere and AE) assuming they're all in the same folder???
Also similar question when renaming all source images, any way PS can link to specific file and keep the link even if a name change happens?
If possible it'd be a huge time saver!

If you have either iMovie 09 or iMovie 11 you can do this easily using the Cutaway feature.
Go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure that the Advanced Tools are enabled.
Now you jut drag and drop the 2nd clip onto hte first clip at the frame where you want the Cutaway to start. A popup menu will appear. Choose Cutaway.

If you have iMovie 08, let me know. There is a way to do it, but it is more complex. -
I've received an email of an unauthorised access which states it was done in Canada, is there any way I can request Apple to inform me what the IP address that made unauthorised access was?

Would a subject access request possibly allow me to recieve this information? The only way they could give anyone such an IP address would be if they received a court order to do so, if even then; I don't know what sort of tracking and logs they do.
However, if this email claimed that someone had tried to reset your password and in any way gave you a link to click to confirm your account information, the email was almost certainly a phish. Such phishing messages have been quite common over the last two or three weeks and should be deleted without responding. You may wish to manually type in the URL for Apple's page for managing an Apple ID and change your password, just as a precaution, and make sure you've set good security questions using responses that can't just be looked up for you (they don't have to be real information; you can use any response you wish as long as you can remember what you entered).

Someone tried to unlock my iPhone4 16GB black with iOS 4.1.2 until it was disabled last July 4, 2014. Is there any way i can re-enter my passcode without restoring it. I also could not connect it to my last sync NoteBook since it Memory Dumped an still cannot open it til now.

I hope there is a way to re-type my passcode.If you haven't already, restart the ipad by holding home and power for ten seconds until the apple appears.
There may be an app that is draining the battery.
Try the following:
1) Kill all apps by double-tapping the home button, then holding any app's icon until it displays the ' - ' symbol. Touch the ' - ' symbol on all apps. This stops the app.
2) Go to airplane mode to turn off wifi and 3G, if so equipped.
3) recheck the battery life by using an offline-only app, like a game, for an hour or so and see if the battery seems to last longer than before.
Typical battery life is a drain of 10% per hour. Your mileage may vary.
If the battery is lasting longer, you need to isolate what is causing the drain.
4) If still rapidly draining, try going to Settings, General, Reset, reset all settings.
5) If none of this gave you any change in the battery life, you may want to do a restore of the ipad from within itunes.
