Any way to enable the hand tool when not zoomed in?

I am always using the hand tool (space) to pan around the canvas while I'm working, but it really bothers me that you can only use it when zoomed in. It assumes that when the canvas fits on the screen you don't need it, but I still have all the tool palettes overlapping the image. I don't like having to press tab to see behind them and it would be much more convenient if it didn't disable the hand tool. Is there any way to fix this? I'm using CS5.

If you press F to be in one of the full screen modes, you should be able to pan around with the hand tool.

Iphone 3GS was dropped and will not turn on or respond to USB connection. Is there any way to extract the data off when it is not responding so that I can restore to my new phone?

The phone is physically intact, but you can see the LCD is cracked behond the glass. I have tried plugging it in, tried putting it on the charger, and resetting it using the off and home buttons, bit response. I don't need the phone to work, but I do need to be bale to back it up in order to restore to the new phone. Is there any way to extract the data or back up the hard drive without repairing the phone? Just curious what my options are before I spend cash trying to fix the phone and find out there was another way to get the data. Any thoughts here or should a good repair shop being able to create a backup somehow?

Im not going to be much help because I don't know of anything else to besides take it somewhere that fixes electronics and see if they can get it off some how maybe if you take it to an apple store they can do something to get your information.

Illustrator changing to the pen tool when I zoom on a Wacom tablet

Is there a way to make Illustrator stop changing to the pen tool whenever I zoom in or out? I rarely need this tool when I'm zooming in or out and it wastes my time to have to keep changing the tool back to what I want every single time, it is the most annoying thing ever!
I have looked through the preferences, the only likely option I found for this is 'Auto add/delete' (as it changes to either add or remove anchor point pen) but turning this or or off makes no difference.
Does anyone know if there is another option that will stop it?

Do you have a computer with iTunes on it that you have associated the iPad with?
If the answer is yes, simply set iTunes up to back up the device locally, fully sync the apps, photos, movies, etc. A copy of everything, including the config of the device and all your settings (scores) will be made on the computer's drive. This even includes a backup copy of all the apps. When you get the replacement device (probably a refurbished blank unit), a Restore from that backup will totally reconstruct what you have today.
If the answer is no, you will have quite a bit more work to do in order to get back to the original state that the iGadget is currently in (minus the crack).

Any way to disable the automatic reboot when a TS fails?

When a Task Sequence fails it displays an error and then reboots after 15 minutes. Is there any way to turn this off? We usually setup a bunch of machines to image and then go work on other things. Then we go back to check the machines
later. If something crashed, it will just be sitting at a logon screen with no indication that anything is wrong.
Can we turn off the automatic reboot somehow or extend the time to an hour or two or anything like that? Seems silly to force them to reboot without an option to turn that off but I can't find a setting anywhere.

Is there any way to improve the Brush tool of Flash to draw as natural as in Photoshop?

it's really bothering me and many other traditional animators that Adobe still hasn't improved the brush tool of Flash for people that want to really draw something on it.
I really really wish to be able to draw on flash as natural and consistent as in photoshop, without those stupid automatic smoothing options or the random roughness of it.
Flash is a great too for traditional animators but the brush is terrible.
Either make Photoshop as good for animating traditional as Flash, or give flash a brush that is nice as standard Photoshop brush.
I just want a normal brush is smooth and natural, that's all. Why are vector tools so weak for drawing????

Any way of getting the Nokia 5800 to NOT announce ...

OK, bit of a strange request this. Since Nokia maps became free to use for driving with spoken directions, I've decided to use it again on my 5800 rather than another piece of Nav software that I had.
Whilst it seems to work great, my only problem seems to be that it announces the directions over Bluetooth. As my phone is connected to my car via a built in Bluetooth kit (parrot), when ever I activate routing with spoken directions, the phone takes over the audio and mutes the stereo (with "PHONE" displayed on my factory head unit). The stereo is then muted for the whole journey or until I exit from Nokia maps. So it seems my only options are driving without music, or mute the 5800 and route without spoken directions ?
Is the any way or setting that would allow the spoken directions to be done purely via the 5800's built in speakers (which are pretty loud anyway), rather than taken over the stereo ?

Hi, don't think it's possible to do what you want, however do you really need sat nav for the whole journey ? It's no solution, and I have used many sat nav systems (I work in the motor trade) and Nokia Maps is pretty good. However once the 'Novelty' wears off, do you really need sat nav for the whole journey, unless you're a delivery driver on an unfamiliar route, most people don't really need sat nav till the last couple of miles, if you're on a long journey, it will nearly always involve a long drive on a major highway, where there is no need for directions. I normally use sat nav for the last couple of miles to find a specific address, or maybe just before an unfamiliar city, I know this isn't answering your question, but you rarely need sat nav for the 'whole' journey !

Is there a way to assign the hand tool in Photoshop CS 6 to a mouse/pen button?

So more Monoprice issues to address here. Before getting this monoprice tablet for my birthday, I used to use an old Wacom bamboo CTH-661 Bamboo Fun Touch. On that tablets' pen, I used to be able to use the bottom pen button to select brushes and the top pen button to pan the image I was working on.
I get this... thing, and now all I can do is can assign mouse buttons to the pen buttons, not keyboard shortcuts. Now I can only use the bottom pen button (select brush) because right click brings that up. Not so much for panning the image.
IMPORTANT!
I've already contacted Monoprice Customer Support and came up dead. Please DO NOT suggest going back to them with this problem
So I ask you folks, is there any possible way to fix this?

The problem with that request is that the issue is with the table drivers, so there is no fix we can suggest. Leastways none that I can think of. We seem to have had a lot of posts regarding Monoprice tablets in the last few weeks, so I don't know if they have just come on the market, and are maybe Chinese Wacom knock-offs. Is there a user forum on their site?
Some here suggests using the Wacom Bamboo driver. That's an interesting idea, so 'please' let us know if you try it and it works.

Any way to disable the automatic unzipping when you download a zip file?

For example, say I want to download a .zip archive, and have it stay a .zip archive so I can upload it somewhere else.
The problem with re-zipping it is that I don't want it to be a Mac .zip file with bogus resource forks and DS_STORE files in it (for Windows users). Any zip file you create on a Mac usually has these bogus extra files inside it - confusing to Windows users. If I download a Windows .zip, I want to keep it as a .zip that was zipped on Windows, if you follow me.

BTW, for anyone who cares, I also discovered that in Safari, even when you have the Preferences set to automatically unzip the files, you can override this by control-clicking on the file and choosing "Download Linked File as..."

The hand tool is not working in certain sections of my screen where there are selection buttons that would normal show the hand tool

E.g. on this submission page there is cliveeb Inbox Other Apps where logically you'd expect the handtool to materialise when hovering over these areas. Nothing happens which means I cannot select those "buttons/drop downs".

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

A way to turn the software "off" when not in use.

JUSTIFICATION :
Java software is not compatible with Solomon (my company's time card/financial system). I have to literally install the software everytime I use usps.com, and want to print out a shipping label, for instance, and then uninstall Java again. This happens a few times a year...about every 1-2 months or so. Very tedious. Any advice?

Your company software probably has a bug and definitely wasn't tested enough.
If nothing else and you are a developer then just ask for another computer.

Why does the hand tool come up when I click the mouse?

I am a very knowledgable individual of InDesign but this is a stumper. I cannot use any single tool that I have. When I press the buttons on the side, for instance the text tool, the image that should appear for the cursor does, but once I click the mouse, the hand tool comes up and drags my page around. This is even when the hand tool is not even selected. I am not pressing any buttons on the keyboard or anything, this is quite frusterating. I am trying to do this job and can't even edit previous files or make a new one. Should I reinstall, or what? Please help!! Thank you.

Is there any way to have the page title NOT be the name of the HTML file

You might want a page title to be say "Digital Media Academy." You don't however really want the html file to be called "Digital%20Media%20Academy.html" Windows web browsers often have problem opening pages with spaces in the file name. On the other hand you don't really want the page title to be "DigitalMediaAcademy" because that looks kind of dumb. Any way around this.

I think I probably misunderstood your question. You want the html "title," which appears at the top of a browser, to be independent of the name of the html file, right? I don't think that is possible in this version without manually editing the html after publishing. iWeb uses the page name given in the inspector for both the navigation bar link and the file name, replacing spaces by %20 in the latter because web servers don't allow spaces in file names.
