Any way to free zoom / view smaller quickly?

The most frustrating thing I've found in using LR is the lack of any way to simply zoom out of the image I'm viewing to temporarily see it at a smaller size. I find the size navigation and ping-ponging between two settings to be fine for viewing filled-screen and 1:1... but I occasionally just want to step it down to some arbitrary size for a moment to grab a screen shot or just to see what it might look like smaller... As near as I can tell there is just no way to do this. I normally have to hit 'F' to put the app into windowed mode and then drag the entire application down to size the image to grab a screen shot... this is crazy.
Am I missing something? I just want a way to quickly zoom *down* in size temporarily... and playing with the ratio navigation buttons is not it. To be specific - first they do not provide free zoom... only ratios. Second they take too long to use and mess up the ping-pong for the normal flow of 1:1 and fill-screen until I reset it.
Can anyone think of a workaround for this?

To add, I'd like zoom to be arbitrary (a percentage instead of discrete steps), and I'd really like a zoom-to-physical size option as well (so that you could, say, select 4x6 and have the image appear 4 inches by 6 inches of physical size on your screen.

Hi Folks,
I have recently switched to Mac. Before this I was using Linux. For mail I used Thunderbird (TB) for many years, and then eventually switched to Evolution Mail (EM) for its smoother integration into Linux.
On both TB and EM I revolved my work flow around custom folder views. As new email came in I would label it (on EM, or tag it on TB). I have numerous inboxes (email accounts) so I would generally be starting out in a smart folder that displays all mail in each inbox. I would most of the time view that smart folder with a Custom View filter in place. The filter would simply display ONLY mail with NO tags/labels.
Once my filter inbox showed NO messages it meant I had labeled everything. I would them use other smart folders to display mail with certain labels AND NO "Completed" label. That way I could go to my "Reply ASAP" folder and see what needed my immediate attention. Each email I replied to I would then add the label COMPLETED and it would vanish from my view.
I explain the above in case someone has specific suggestions on how to achieve a similar workflow on Mail.
In short, what I am wondering is this:
- Is there a built in way to filter a folder on the spot (with a drop down list of predefined and custom Views) --- I have looked and so far did not find this feature
- Is there a way to do this with a script or add-on? I have looked at many and not found a suitable one yet.
I am appealing to the knowledge of those with more experience in Mail. It is new to me.
I am currently using TB on my Mac because it gives me the above feature. BUT it does not have the same degree of integration with the OS and other Mac specific apps that Mail has. Thus I am keen to stick with Mail.

In addition to above:
I have installed a trial of Mailtags. It certainly improves the tagging capability of Mail.
I have also looked at the Smart Mailboxes and Smart Mailbox Folders.
As far as I can tell, however, there is no option to set up a smart mailbox that ONLY shows message with NO LABEL or NO MAILTAG (as the case may be). I can display messages with particular TAGS but not NO tags.
Is there any way to add more options to the Smart Mailbox filter system?

Is there any way to enable "list view" in Yosemite's Calendar app (like you could in previous versions)?

In pervious version of OS X, the Calendar app showed a "list view" while in the "day" view. Here's an example. Any way to enable this or did Apple kill this helpful feature?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Any way to re-position the small embedded video window of self?

Is there any way to move the small embedded window (the picture of me) to another location (e.g., top right corner)? I use iChat to communicate with others in sign language and the bottom right corner really is annoying as it covers up the signer's hands. Yes, I know the other person can move farther away from their camera, but it would certainly be a handy option to move the small window to one's preferred location.

As Defcom has said it can be moved and Resized.
It will only go in one of four places and that is each corner.
Letting go of it in the middle of the main window will let it decide which is the closest.
Like most windows it has markings it whichever corner is closest to the middle to grab and resize it.
The Add-On Chax will you you to remove it completely.
Chax is having problems in iChat (Text Chats) if the setting to Auto-accept Text chats is set AND you have the new Safari 3 beta.

View responses - any way to print or view as form?

Hi - am new to forms central
Previous posted links to .pdf forms at acrobat.com. There is was possible to print individual reponses as a .pdf
Is there a was to format the reponses as a form - I have printed the 'Show Detail' view but it doesnt seem to include the form name - we have a number of forms and doesn't seem formatable.
Is there any way to get the reponses in a way that makes it easy to print them out for actioning.

We now support saving a response from the View Responses tab to PDF (that retains the form design shown on the Design tab). The PDF can be shared, archived or printed using Adobe Reader.

Any way to free up HD space ahead of Archive and Install?

My macbook pro recently stalled login at the blue screen. i tried the usual tricks including safe boot and repairing permissions and disk. when i try to login with safeboot it thinks for a minute and returns me back to the login screen. multiple repairs of permissions and disk yield no errors. i went to my local apple store and they suggested doing an archive and install. unfortunately when i tried to do it, i was 200mb short of the 2.4gb of HD space needed to do the most bare bones install that included no software, fonts, or drivers. is there any way to access any of my HD files and delete something? it would break my heart to have to do a full erase and reinstall because of just 200mb of space. please recall that there is no way for me to enter the computer through either normal boot or safeboot. thanks in advance for your help.

You can use a pre-Intel Mac, though. It just needs to be running Mac OS 10.4 Tiger. I've booted my MBP from a PB G4 running Tiger with no trouble.

Ps. This highlights the need to have a +frequently updated+ bootable backup for your computer. Personally, I use SuperDuper to keep an up-to-date bootable clone on an external firewire drive. If I ever need to, I can boot my MBP from that.

Any way to customize the view?

I’m new to Mail. Have been using either Entourage or PowerMail since I switched to a Mac 4 years ago. But I'm switching to Mail now to take advantage of other apps that work with it but not with other email clients.
Anyway, the left side of the screen, the mailbox pane, is a light blue. Any way to modify that color?

yeah, this isn’t some big functionality deal, but I just don’t like the look with that color. Seems like something we should be able to easily change. If I can change the color used to denote message from the same topic, why not this?

Any way to bannish 'icon' view... forever?

I have nothing against icon view, each to their own, but it's just not my cup of tea. I've searched high and low through preferences and view settings, but for the life of me I can not find any global settings for icon/list/column view... that will stick. I've been using macs for 10 years, and I think I've asked this question with each new release of OSX.
I know I can open a window, set the view, close it, and the view will be remembered, fine for frequently used folders. It's the IN-frequently used folders that bother me, the thousands and thousands of infrequently used folders, also mounted drives, CD's, external disks, etc etc, which for some reason always default to icon view when you first open them.
Why oh why is there no way to set the default view for ALL folder windows? Or is there?

There is a "workaround" which is to manually change any icon view windows immediately to column view and then close the window without doing anything else. Then it will open in col. view next time. But for a really solid "fix" you need to be logged in as root. Then if you change the global setting it will affect all windows for all users for all time. This is because root is the "owner" of many of the folders above your users level even though you are the admin.

Any way to change bookmark view to Actual Size on all bookmarks in a PDF at once?

There's over 100 bookmarks here, and they're all set to Fit Width. I want them to be set to Actual Size. Do I really need to go one bookmark at a time, and then click through all the steps, to change these buggers, or is there a simpler way to do them all at once without losing the bookmark's anchor?

Is there any way to create multiple views in a 3d pdf?

I'm hoping to be able to create 3D PDF to share with my clients. I want to be able to have them see 2D renderings and the 3D model at the same time with different views. Is this even possible?

If you want to show more than one view at the same time, then it's impossible. There's no "split window" feature.
If you want to define a series of different views and switch between them as something else happens (clicking a button, etc.) then that's simple, just set up your scene and hit the Manage Views option on the 3D toolbar.

Any way to update or view a LONGRAW datatype col?

I need to update a column with a mass update of a filed which has a datatype of LONGRAW. It is a notes field which the application uses a GUI drop down to type in a note about an account. I need to close some 2000 accounts and want to insert a note into each account of why I'm closing the account.
I went and updated a test account that I wanted closed and updated the notes field with the piece of text I wanted to use. I then tried to grab that field from the db.
What I've tried to do generates an error, here's my attempt. Looking for any advice to help out with this.
update account_internal_notes_buf set internal_notes_buf = (select internal_notes_buf from account_internal_notes_buf where obj_id0 = 'xxxx') where obj_id0 = 'xxxxx';
ORA-00997: illegal use of LONG datatype
