Any way to get around laser flashing black when moving?

I am authoring a project that has a flash animation that I converted to an mpeg2 that starts playing right after you put the dvd in. After the 3 second animation that also includes audio it goes to my main menu. I have the end jump on the animation set to go to the menu. Everything works right , as it should, except for the fact that when it goes from the animation to the menu you see a quick flash of black. I have been told that this is the laser moving over to another asset. It would not be that big of a deal except that the animation dissolves to white and the menu that comes right after it is white, so the black frame really jumps out at you. Is there a work around for this? Thanks in advance for any information that you can provide.

This flash is indeed caused as the laser moves to the next element in the project, but different players will show different degrees of severity... some may not show it at all.
The way round it is to set the Flash animation into a longer sequence using FCP or some other editor, such that when the menu graphic appears it holds for at least 30 seconds (or longer).
You would also create an overlay file for the button highlihgt information.
Set the animation and menu background into a menu and look in the property inspector for the loop point control. Move it to the point where the still menu begins and add the overlay file. From then on you treat it like a static menu and drag out the button rectangles and set the button targets.
This then is a basic motion menu, and there is more information about using these in the DVDSP manual.

  • I'm having trouble with installing a 8g kit in my late 2009 mac mini. when the parts are installed all i get is a beeping sound, is there any way to get around this?

i'm having trouble with installing a 8g kit in my late 2009 mac mini. when the parts are installed all i get is a beeping sound, is there any way to get around this?

What is the source & link to this 8 GB kit please?
Can you count the beeps or flashes?
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

  • Is there any way to get around having to use iDVD to burn DVD?

Is there any way to get around having to use iDVD to export FCE to DVD?
I've been trying to burn a FCE2 sequence to DVD. A friend of mine told me all I had to do was put a blank DVD in, click on the icon on the desk top, export the sequence to Quicktime and drag the QT sequennce into the DVD icon and click burn.
Well something happened! But there's nothing on the DVD!! What am I doing wrong? I loathe iDVD. i don't want to author. I just want to burn the project on a DVD. Please advise. Thanks.

If you export a sequence at full resolution to can burn it onto a DVD as a data DVD, but this is for transportation purposes only. At full resolution the DVD, especially as it fills up, will not have sufficient throughput to sustain good playback of the material. That's why the material is encoded into MPEG-2 for DVD authoring. If you want to make a DVD for set-top playback it has to be authored to include the DVD format structure. There is no way around that. If you don't like iDVD, take a look at Final Cut Studio, you might prefer DVD Studio Pro. Or you might what to look at Roxio's Toast. It has basic authoring capabilities. Personally I don't think direct playback hardware solutions (except for seriously expensive ones) produce acceptable quality, but that's just me.

  • When i try to make an itunes account it i cant find "none" by payemnt method and i dont have a credit card. any way to get around that?

when i try to make an itunes account it i cant find "none" by payemnt method and i dont have a credit card. any way to get around that?

Unless the instructions on this page are followed when creating an account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.
If created the account (e.g. you're not in the process of creating it and are stuck on the payment screen) and you are being prompted to review it then you could see if this post by mountaingoatgirl lets you reviewit without needing to enter credit card details : https://discussions.apple.com/message/24303054
If not then you will need to create a new account, and follow the instructions on that HT2534 page when creating it. If you want to use the same email address then you will need to replace it on that account first e.g. by logging into it via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com

  • Is there any way to get around startup login?

I recently resurrected a crashed G4 hard drive by connecting it to another computer in target mode, and fixing the hard drive with Disk Utility.
However, when I then restarted the G4, I was asked for a username and password, even though I've never had a password-protected log-in on this machine before.
I've tried evey previous username / password combo I can think of, but none of them work, so now I'm stuck with a machine that boots up, but won't allow me to log in. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

If you just access that disk as a data Disk or using Firwire Target disk Mode (instead of starting up from it) no password should be needed.
The usual way to get around a password is to reset that password. The tool to do that is on the Installer DVD.
Start up from the DVD, but do not install.
Answer only the "what language" question, if presented.
Wait a quarter minute for the menuBar to be drawn.
Choose reset password off one of the Menus.
    Reset the password.
Notes: this destroys the old password and replaces it with the new one, so it is not the slightest bit "sneaky".
The DVD is required, otherwise any 10-year old could do it.

  • Is there any way to get around using iTunes.7 with a Nano (secnd gen)?

I, like many others received a pretty new Nano from Santa, but was disappointed to find that.. it doesn't seem to be usable!
    I have a iMac (os x 10.2.8) and a iBook G4 (os x 10.3.7)
BUT as I'm sure you're aware, I can't update the iTunes on either to version 7 because it's only compatible with 10.3.9 or higher..
As I am only a poor design student, there is no way I can afford a new os, so my question is really, what the subject said, is there any way I can get around using iTunes to put music on my iPod? or am I pretty much screwed?
Any suggestions would be really aprechiated! I just want to be able to use it!
    Thanks

I have a 1.83 Ghz Intel Core Duo Proceser that will not except the 10.2 I Tunes software. Is there any way that I can get around this issue short of buying a IPad.

  • Is there any way to get around the arbitrary ban on repeating a password within a year?

I just want to figure out how to change my password to one that was my password less than a year prior. Why is this requirement in place when Apple has no requirement that passwords be changed annually? It seems that any added security benefit would be negligible and the mandate is excessive and unwarranted. Is there any way to avoid this requirement?

    Remove restriction passcode
    1. Restore to Factory Default
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    2. You can restore from a backup that was done before you enable the Restriction Code.

  • Any way to "Get CD Track Names" automatically when you insert a CD?

I have the latest iTunes version installed as of today... my first install on a Dell I6000. When I insert a CD and select the Get Tracks option from Advanced, it works fine and import of all songs is no problem. Before reinstalling Windows (and reformating my drive) I had iTunes installed and it would automatically open and get tracks when I inserted a CD. Or, if I manually turned on iTunes and a new CD was in the drive, it would get the tracks automatically. But, now I have to manually select this option. Any way to make it automatic?

Your Dell should work the same as your Mac when inseting a CD. Mine does. Occasionally, it will hesitate in contacting the CDDB, but one round of 'Advanced==>Get CD track Names' seems to jumpstart the process.
I do not have 'iTunes' as an option in the autoplay tab. I have the CD drive set to 'No Action' on CD insert. iTunes seems to autodetect that there is a new CD inserted, while the PC in general does not (just what I want),
There used to be a checkbox within the older iTunes Preferences that allowed it to 'Automatically connect to the Internet when needed'. If you are running an earlier version of iTunes, this may be the issue. The feature is no longer available in v6. Not sure if it was there in v5.
If you are not running iTUnes v6, then search your Preferences for this checkbox. Other than that, I am at a loss as to why your autoconnect to the CDB is not functioning.

  • Any way to get around a lame BIOS ?

Got myself a CQ42 450TU laptop. It is a very cheap laptop using Pentium P6200 dual-core @2.13GHz with default 1GB RAM. While I will be upgrading RAM to 3GB (additional 2GB) shortly, what surprised me is that the BIOS that ships on the laptop is really lame and crappy. All that the BIOS let's one do is do some memory/hdd test, set boot order, set date/time and that's it. Nothing else. Since the Integrated GPU uses part of the main system RAM (of 1GB), I am stuck with GPU eating away around 264MB (from 1GB). I use very low end graphics (no 3D, 16bit colors are sufficient), so 8MB (or max 16MB) video RAM should suffice. But, is there another way to configure the video RAM, since BIOS won't let me do anything ?
On HP site under Support, I found no information for a firmware/BIOS update. Since this PC didn't come with Windows OS, I am (almost) happily running Ubuntu 11.04.
    Any tips/hints are really welcome.
    cheers,
    Icarus.

No way to change the bios, and an update will not add any features, this is typical of some HP models, My G62 is the same way.
The latest bios for that model is F.36, but you would need Windows 7 installed to flash it.

  • Any way to get around Error 1309 without erasing drive data?

From what I understand this is an error that happens when you try to transfer files to a drive that is not formattted a certain way.
I am trying to transfer a project to this external LaCIe - media files also - and am getting the error. unfortunately I have nowhere else to transfer the data on the Lacie to back it and formatting would erase everything on it. I also don't know how to tell how it is formatted now.
This project needs to be moved because the Mac needs to go in for service. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

Hmm. You know what? Looks like my other external Lacie (Drive#1) is formated Mac OSX extended. It's a smaller drive, 160 gig and pretty full, but maybe i could transfer that data over to the to Lacie 2, at least enough to free up project space.
This project has gone on and on, but there was an issue with the computer needing service and I'm concerned that waiting will put undue stress on it. I've been waiting for about two months, but it could be a few weeks more and I just want to get it looked at.
\If I move the data to a drive that is DOS formattted, does it only affect the size of files I can drag to it? Or will there be an issue with MAC files? It seems to have been working fine so far, no problems.

  • Cannot send E-mails in MAIL (any way to get around port 25?)

    Hey,
I'm trying to use "Mail" 1.3.11. I have a domain (95ent.com) with a mail system. I can recieve and read the mail just fine, but can't send outward E-Mails.
I know this is because I have BellSouth, and they have the Port25 ban. What I'm worndering if there is some work-around, to the effect that my outgoing e-mails would be addressed from MY e-mail (i.e; [email protected]). I tried port 587, and it just says that it's timed out. I tried just adding "mail.bellsouth.com" as my outgoing SMTP server - but that doesn't seem to work either.
All I'm looking to do is find a way I can use a program (like Mail), prefferably Mail, to send out E-mails that are addressed as "from; [email protected]" and have the same reply-to address.
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    Thank You!
    Mac G5 dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   80GB HD, 512MB DDR SDRAM

As long as "mail.bellsouth.com" is the correct SMTP server address for BellSouth and other settings for the SMTP server are correct, then yes.
Most or many SMTP servers include SMTP in the SMTP server address.
The only exception to this is if BellSouth uses POP before SMTP authentication and if so, this will require accessing your BellSouth email account with the Mail.app and checking the account for new mail with the Mail.app once per online session before being able to use BellSouth's SMTP server to send mail with your BellSouth or with an email account not provided by BellSouth.
You need to check with BellSouth regarding their requirements for using an SMTP server that is outside of their network (or not provided by BellSouth) on Port 25 and they can also answer the question if they use or require POP before SMTP authentication or if they have a restriction on using their SMTP server with an email account not provided by BellSouth.

I made a 3-minute movie with my iphone 4S. When I attempt to share it via email or message I get a message that says it is too long, that I should try to make a clip. Of course I had rather send the whole thing. What are the possibilities? I think my music and likely my videos and pictures are in the cloud.

  • Is there any way to get around the limitations caused by having to use FAT32 with Airport Extreme (32-Gb usable on 1-Tb drive)?

Why offer AirPort Extreme as a PC solution and limit it to FAT32? It's virtually good only for thumb drives? It's a waste of time and money with the 32-Gb limit of FAT32. 32-gb thumb drives are inexpensive and portable. They can easily be moved from PC to PC. In my opinion, there is no discernable value to the Windows user. We can already share printers and USB drives in our home networks.
I was hoping to get faster, more reliable access from my iPad to a USB drive that stores my music. Works fine with a thumb drive, but the 32-Gb limit is a deal breaker. Here's hoping someone can offer a solution.I do have a usable copy of Partion Magic.

Sorry that this may not seem like an ideal solution, but one option is to use an application that runs on a Windows PC that allows you to format HDDs for HFS+. Once formatted as such, it can be shared out to either OS X, Windows, or Linux users from an AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule. HFS+, like NTFS, supports much larger HDDs.

  • Am in Israel for work for a few months. When I try to update my apps it tells me to locate the Israeli store. Any way to get around this? Thanks.

Am working in Israel for a few months. When I try to update my apps it tells me my account is not valid for use in the U.S. store, must PURCHASE in the Israeli store. I'm not trying to purchase new apps, just trying to update my apps. Ipad2 was purchased and registered in the U.S.
Thanks for any advice I receive.

All that you had to do was to sign into the old account in order to update those apps. What I mean is that you just needed to sign into that account in the store settings like I described and that should have worked. You didnt need to enter the credit card information again - you justed needed to use the old ID and password.
Anyway, I think the good news is that if everything else is OK with the new account, just download iBooks with the new ID - it's a free app so its not like you have to pay for it again. I'm not sure what the other App is that you are talking about - but if it is the Apple Store App - that is free as well.
Try this anyway, when you try to update iBooks, just use the old password if the old ID still pops up.
Did you try signing into the store settings with your new ID and see what happens with the updates then?
