Any way to get Camcorder content in? USB/TW HD as "bridge"?

Hi all,
I am buying a MBA as soon as it gets here, but there is one thing that really bothers me: no FW port means not being able to upload footage from my Camcorder (end edit and share it, therefore...). This is the only thing where the MBA will really limit what I expected given my real usage.
Most probably what I am asking here makes no sense at all but... could it be possible to use a dual-interface disk, such as LaCie Little Disk in order to connect (and power it) through the MBA USB port and then connect it to the camcorder via FireWire? I mean, using the HD as a "bridge" so contents can be dowloaded to the external disk, and then editing it from the MBA...
Carryng an additional portable hard drive is not my dream, but not being able to gain access to my camcorder for over a week at any trip is even worse...

Thanks. OK, that HD won't work. As for the solutions proposed by um, the TEAC won't work as an external DVD player for the MBA... so no way to read the recorded DVDs. OK, I could bring TWO DVD players, but is really not very practical, besides the cost factor of burning a DVD each day for some minutes of footage...
OTOH the DV Quickstream seems to only capture the DV footage while it is been recorded, and attached to the camera. No, I really don't look forward carrying one more thing around when going out with the camera
I am looking for something that allows me to download the DV footage to the Air afterwards, back to the hotel or whatever. Without bringing my iMac on my trips
It does seem that no easy solution is available today. Hope that somebody will come out with one.

What do you mean by "disappeared?" If you had synced your iPod touch with your computer, iTunes automatically makes a backup of your iPod so you could try restoring from that. The music would then also be in your iTunes Music Library on your computer so you can sync it back to your iPod.

I'm not sure about older versions, but in Pages 3.x (OS X 10.9.x) select File > Revert To > Browse All Versions. Hopefully there will be an earlier version that you can "revert to".

Have you been syncing the iPod with iTunes? Then you just connect the iPad and set it up through iTunes and sync any content you want onto it.

In terms of games/apps. If they are not universal (you will see a + symbol next to them) or made for iPad (you would see an HD in the name, usually) then they won't look good on an iPad as those apps will open in a iPod sized window, giving you the option to enlarge.

No. When you restored the backup of the old computer it wiped out everything on the phone.

I need to obtain an image's attributes such as dimensions (height, width in pixels) without placing image in indesign document.
I have full path of the image (say abc.jpg is stored at c:\my pic\abc.jpg).
I have obtained the IDFile for this image, tried getting size using GetFileSize() which correctly return size in bytes.
Is there any way to get the height/width of image without importing it in the indesign document.
Please, give me some hints. I have spent quite a lot time digging in CHM. I have searched in FileUtils, IDFile API's but found no method which serves this purpose.
At this point I am clueless where to search next.
Any help will be appriciated.
Just a point to mention, I am able to get image height and width for an image in indesign doc though Its not my requirement.

You might be able to examine the contents of the PlaceGun after calling kImportAndLoadPlaceGunCmdBoss without actually placing the image in a document. Not sure, but would be worth looking at.
Otherwise you will probably have to write platform specific code, ideally with a generic platform-independant wrapper (see SDKSamples/paneltreeview/PlatformFileSystemIterator).
For the Mac, look at CGImageGetWidth() etc., not sure what the best option is for windows.
Perhaps Quicktime could provide you with a platform independant solution.

If the lost music is no longer on your iPod, on your PC, or in another backup somewhere, you are out of luck. You can download most iTunes purchases again at no cost via iCloud. See this article for more information and assistance.

Nokia 1020 - any way to get an internet connection...

There doesn't seem to be any way to get networking via BT.
As a possibly separate issue, I can connect to my Nokia 808 over BT and they pair up OK, but the 1020 doesn't see any network, dial-up or any other service like that in the 808.
Every windows laptop and even a win8.0 Lenovo tablet can connect to the 808 over BT, and all but win8.x devices can also do it over wifi (Joikuspot). Why can't the win8.1 Nokia phone do this?

In that case, what methods *are* available on the 1020 for getting an internet connection, other than using
- built-in GSM/3G/4G, or
- built-in WIFI (infrastructure mode only)

Why is adhoc WIFI or bluetooth insecure, for a personal temporary internet connection, from another device, used typically while travelling and used to make sure that roaming costs are contained within the one device on which there is a decent roaming data package?
Currently the only way I see is a 3G-WIFI modem (e.g. the E585) with a locally puchased data SIM inside it, but such deals are available only in some countries in Europe. They also tend to be really difficult to purchase e.g. in Greece you spend an hour or two in a phone shop, proving your identity with a passport and other documents.
Was this done because the networks (who own the phone shops) insisted on it, as a condition of carrying the phone in their shops?

That refers to free disk space, not RAM. If your computer has 4GB of RAM, that's enough. If it only has 4GB of free disk space, you need to delete content from the internal drive; for best results, free up at least 20GB.

Thunderbird consists of a program (installed under Program Files) and your data, which you can find in your profile folder (explained [[Profiles TB|here]].
As long as you still have your profile data, it'll be back once you reinstall Thunderbird.
You could even run Thunderbird off a USB thumb drive if you prefer.

Losing your phone is never fun. Especially, when personal content may be lost. If you installed and set up the Verizon Cloud to auto back up the photos on your device, then photos will be saved to the cloud. Unfortunatley, the Verizon Cloud is not set up on the device on it's own. If there was no application set to backup personal content on the device, I apologize there is not a way to retreive lost photos.

I believe you're saying you were composing a very long email message in gmail on your iPhone, and you then pasted over the message you were composing, losing all the previous content.
If that is the case, there is no way to get back the original content.
