Any way to get Illustrator CS5 to display full screen mode like Photoshop?

Is there any way to get Illustrator's screen modes to behave like Photoshop's screen modes?
One of the things I like most about Photoshop is the way it toggles from standard screen mode to "full screen with menu bar" to just "full screen".
For example, in Photoshop's standard mode, the window is no bigger than the size of the canvas. Why can't Illustrator do that?
And, is there anyway to get Illustrator CS5 to display the full screen mode where the background outside the artboard or canvas is black instead of white. Working in Illustrator for long hours, it would much easier on my eyes if the surrounding background could be black like in Photoshop.

At the bottom of the Tool bar is a toggle button (F) which will change the Screen Mode.

3G Nano: How do I get my photos to display full-screen?

I have a 3G Nano.
When I go into PHOTOS the left 1/2 of the screen is always taken up by the menu selections and I have not yet figured out how to get the photos to display full screen. What am I doing wrong?

Select "All Photos" from the menu to the left of those half pictures. Press the center button and you will get "thumb nails of your photos. Run your finger around the touch wheel and a yellow box will highlight the picture. If you start with the first picture and press the center button again you will bring up a full screen pict. To go to the next pict use the touch wheel in a clockwise manner to see each pict. Go to back to the photo menu and go to settings to try out some neat tricks and even add music. Don't ever be worried about asking a question. The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask! I got my nano yesterday and I have some questions that the "help" didn't address also

If your just opening the html file from a link within your site, then you could code the link to open in a new window at full size. This is not done through RH, but instead on the site where its linking to your webhelp index.html page. Its relatively simple, and you can customise things like viewable buttons, scroll bars etc etc.

Photoshop CS5: border in full screen mode

I ran this by in the User forums. Now I think I should file it as a bug.
I use full screen mode in PS. It's important to me,especially when I take screenshots.
Photoshop CS5 shows a border in full screen. Something CS4 or even Bridge CS5 doesn't do. I've attached an example:
My video card is not detected by CS5 (or CS4) so the GPU options are grayed out in Preferences. I could shut off aero...but I like the functions it provides and I don't think I should switch in and out for one program. If any of the programmers here look at the situation....I'd like to know if they can fix it in a future update release.

Adobe has a reg fix called allow old GPUs on. Tried it out. Got rid of the border,but using the marquee tool causes the doc window to go blank.

How To Stop Internet Explorer 11 Prompting To Display Full-screen Mode

Is there a way to stop the desktop version of Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1 from prompting whether you want a website to display content in full-screen mode?
When it displays the prompt "Do you want to view youtube.com in full screen? (Press Esc to exit.)", if you select 'Always Allow', it doesn't permanently remember this setting, as it will be reset when the browsing history is deleted.
Surely there must be a setting somewhere to prevent it from displaying this prompt every time?

In fact, I suspect it is something that a Flash programmer would know but YouTube would know for that reason.

I disagree, as far as I'm concerned it's a Microsoft problem, not a Flash programmer problem. In fact, more specifically it's an Internet Explorer 11 problem, as it doesn't occur in IE10 and before. And it's not a problem specific to YouTube either as it
doesn't just occur on YouTube, it happens on other sites as well.
It almost seems as though Microsoft changed something in IE11 and forgot to put a setting in either the Internet Zone Settings, Advanced Internet Options or IE Group Policy settings. Something along the lines of:
Allow display of full-screen content
Enable
Disable
Prompt (Default)
Meanwhile, unless there's a setting somewhere to disable the prompts that I can't find, the end user has to put up with these stupid prompts with no way of permanently disabling them? What was wrong with how it was before with just a semi-transparent
message that faded out after a couple of seconds which said "Press ESC to exit full screen mode"? Why the need for an annoying distracting prompt that requires user interaction as well? And even if there is a reason (which I'd be fine with), why
is there no option to disable it like you can with other prompts?
If it's something that a Flash programmer would know, then maybe someone needs to let Microsoft's own Flash programmer's know about it:

Getting IM notifications when in full screen mode

I like to know if anyone has solved this problem in LION. I have 3 full screen apps running and I get IM messages from iChat or Adium. I like to get notification about these IMs even when I am not on the main screen (for example I am in Safari (full screen mode).
Has anyone solved this? If your answer is Growl, have you tested it and it works?
Seems like a very obvious need for all of us who use full screen apps and use IM so I hope to find a solution here.

In earlier versions when you went to Full Screen you automatically went into edit mode. This version you don't. Zoom is available is Edit mode, in Full Screen or Windowed Mode.

Is there any way to use Illustrator (CS5) with Windows 8.1?

I'm in the middle of installing CS5 Design Premium on new machine (Win8.1) and see error beside Illustrator that the system requirements are not met. Windows help site suggests CS5 and Win8.1 are compatible. Surely there is some way to make these work together like the rest of my creative suite...?

Without exact system info we cannot know. There could be any number of reasons why it thinks it isn't compatible and generic "It's Windows 8.1" don't help.

The program is E-term by Eclipse.

Thanks for your efforts in confirming my results. I'd prefer not to use any activex or .net containers, since this will make the code extremely coupled to a specific platform. If I can find a way to do this, using window handles or something, via WinAPI that would be preferable, because I could use a conditional disable structure to comment out the code on non-windows machines.
If anyone has any ideas about how to receive these events, using window handles and messaging, that would be great.

Any way to get out of connect to iTunes screen without restoring factory settings?

I accidentally started the newest update before backing up to iCloud. Now I have the connect to iTunes screen and can't get around restoring to factory settings. Is there anything I can do to bypass this step? Or undo upgrade?

AS you have tagged this post with iOS 6.1.3 and iMessages it is difficult to tell whether you want the answer for iPhone or iPad.
iMessages can do groups or multi-person Conversations as long as you enter the names in the "To" field before your start typing the message.

If you mean in the Messages app an AIM Buddy list can do Groups chats.
Jabber Buddy lists vary according to the set up of the server involved.
You don't have to turn Off the iMessages ability.
You either start from a Buddy List or select Buddies in the Blue + icon drop down.

That doesn't sound like a wise thing to have done.
At this point having lost your software purchase, the quickest way will be to purchase and install it from the Mac App Store. It is not expensive and can then be installed on multiple Macs using the same Apple I.D.

Is there any way of getting back from a wrong clicked free trial to add my serial number correctly?

On purchasing a new imac I copied the apps across & on opening CS6 was requested to load serial numbers, through tiredness I added the seria; number from CS5.5 and therefore not recognised for the CS6, then when about to enter again through tiredness I must have clicked free trial and now have the CS6 in that format.
Is there any way of getting back to that initial box to load the correct numbers & get out of trial as although it works I need it set up correctly?

Just curious if there is any way to get a folio to render a button in vector rather than raster format? I know with multi-state objects there is a nice little setting to tell it to use vector... but nothing for buttons that I can find?! I just don't like how some buttons end up looking on the Retina display on iPad...

Is there any way to get rid of the audio message that I have unlimited minutes when I make a call? I want that 10 seconds of my life back :)

When I make a call I get an audio message that I have unlimited minutes and then dial the number. Is there any way to get rid of that message? Because I really want to get back those 10 seconds back, Ha, Ha, not!

Whoever thought this new search box GUI was a good idea was mistaken IMHO.
I've used the method shown above to return it to the old constant icon/text display with instantly available drop down of my alternative chosen search engines. All back to how it was in the previous version. Yay!
Displaying the chosen default search engine icon/text in the search box just seems a better and more sensible GUI feature to me than needing to hover over the box to show the same information (minus icon) . As for having to start entering search terms before the other search engine options become available - that is just plain ill conceived design.
The old design is more user friendly and should be the default setting but if some users want the new GUI for the search box why not include that under Tools > Options?
