Any way to get reasonable auto-shift stabilization performance?

Hi all,
I'm trying to find a way to get much-better performance from a necessary, very basic, stabilization effect for a huge collection of archival video.
The context: 20k+ feet (500k frames?, ) of 8mm film that I'm capturing at HD resolution. Unfortunately there is a painful amount of per-frame "jitter" in the capture process. It should be easy to stabilize, as the sprocket hole is visible in every frame, so there's always a nice spot for a stabilizer to lock onto. All I need is the simple "shift and crop" level of stabilization.
My equipment: very fast brand new Win7 x64 Pro system, 32GB RAM, fast 12 core CPU, nVidia CUDA GTX 6xx series GPU.
The challenge: as others have found, Warp Stabilizer is AWFUL on performance during the first analysis phase. It appears to use no GPU at all and only one CPU (if that), working in the background. My machine is sitting there totally bored... which is more than a bit frustrating because a three minute clip requires 40 minutes to process through the first analysis phase!
What am I missing? Is Warp Stabilizer simply an incomplete feature? I remember using the basic SteadyMove/SteadiCam plugin that came with CS2 -- it worked reasonably well and was quite speedy even on my old computer. Have we really gone backward this far?
Any thoughts, suggestions, alternatives most welcome!

Been trying Warp there, and the AE plain single-point stabilizer. Incredibly UNstable -- ie AE crashes after about a minute no matter what I do. Hard to believe these have been tested very much. (But then, I used to get paid to break S/W... it's a gift )
The point stabilizer is soooo close. If it would not crash, and if I could add one more bounding box to limit the overall range of motion (when "sync" is lost), I'd be in fat city...

Your best bet would be to create a web page of your own for the app. Design that page so that it uses 'META REFRESH' to redirect the visitor straight to the App Store link.
That way you can hard-wire your own web page address into your app.
This has the advantage that it can work well even before you've noticed that your app has arrived on the App Store. Create a real web page, describing the app and telling people to search for it in the App Store by name - then replace it with the auto-redirect page when you've discovered your application's App Store address.

Is there any way to get my photos FROM my iPod Touch back onto a new hard drive?

My Mac crashed last Friday. First timeIs there any way to get my photos FROM my iPod Touch back into my new hard drive. The iTunes sync only goes one way from the computer to the iPod.
It syncs the photos taken with the iPod (really an old iPhone 3G without phone service) but not the folders which I synced from the old hard drive to the iPod over the past year.

Yes, my computer was backed up. for reasons way too complicated to go into here, these particular folders were not part of the backup.

Any way to get prior (non-iOS 6) version of iMovie?

Just saw a demo of iMovie and really liked it. I headed to the iTunes app store and was seriously disappointed to find that I could only use iMovie if I updated to iOS 6. That isn't going to happen. I use Google Maps every day and will switch to an Android based system before I will upgrade to iOS 6.
So, is there any way to get the prior verion of iMovie that works on iOS 5.1.1 or is Apple just trying to force people to downgrade to iOS 6? My guess is the latter.

@hpr : I was running the dev version because it provided a LOT more stability with Chrome/Flash (while I waited to receive my "free upgrade to mountain lion" email from apple), and it also addressed the Retina font-rendering issues. Latest official Chrome release was super crashtastic for me -- multiple kernel panics daily. Apparently this is/was An Issue for the new rMBP + Chrome + Flash. Honestly, though, this thing reboots so freaking fast it wasn't even *that* much of an issue.
Finally jumping to Mountain Lion right now...hopefully that'll stabilize things. If not, back to the dev version I go. Chrome has spoiled me - I just can't deal with Safari anymore.

I have tried the iphoto forum and have been directed here. Is there any way to get 720x576 (ie DV Pal) for an export from iphoto slideshow? I want to export 200+ photos with random transitions and the ken burns effect. Imovie offers offers automatic ken burns effect via project properties but I can't find a way to add random transitions automaticcally. Is it possible? I want to add the exported file to a movie in Final Cut Studio. Normally I have to resort to using adobe photoshop elements 5 and premiere elements 3 on my bootcamp partition. I would love to do this all in Mac OSX - since leaving Windows, this is the only thing that forces me to use that lousy operating system!

Not directly. But you can do it with a bit of external help. Create a slideshow project in iPhoto using the "Random" transitions and auto KBE you want. Then export the slideshow as a 640x480 MPEG4/AAC 30 fps full motion MOV file. Drop the file to MPEG Steamclip and select the "Export to DV" File menu option. The select the DV format, PAL standard, and aspect you want. (I would normally select the "Frame Blending" option in the main menu when going from 30 fps to 25 fps.)

When closing multiple tabs, is there any way to get back the option of saving those tabs OR NOT for your next session, within the warning dialogue box itself?

For brief period of time, not in FF4, there was the option whereby when I closed multiple tabs, a firefox dialogue box opened warning me that I'm about to close multiple tabs, '''AND ALSO''' asking me if wanted to save those tabs for my next session, or trash them.
The primary issue IS NOT about saving tabs. The primary question here is about getting THE OPTION back to the CLOSING MULTIPLE TABS WARNING DIALOGUE.
The use case here should be obvious. However, since it is clearly not obvious that different people work in a variety of ways, and neither of those methods of working is "wrong" or "right" I will elaborate: Some people, for whatever reason, it doesn't matter why, want to save all their tabs on some occasions, and on other occasions don't.
This preference varies throughout the day. Therefore it is inefficient to constantly go to preferences and change whether or not I want firefox to open all my tabs from my last session. It is more LOGICAL to place an option in the multiple tab warning dialogue as well, for people whose preference constantly changes.
This option was available for a time in most of the Firefox 3 versions. Is there any way to get back this option in Firefox 4?

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no need for asking if you want to save the current session.
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session. 
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle the value with a double left-click.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.

Is there any way to get contacts back after them being deleted form iCloud?

My dad recently asked me to update his phone, so I plugged it into my computer to do so. For some reason just doing that resulted in his settings to change to have iCloud contact sync on. This resulted in our contacts syncing so his would show up on my phone and mine on his. He went on to delete all of my contacts from his phone, not realizing they were also being deleted on iCloud (therefore from my phone as well). I don't even understand why my contacts were not saved on my phone in the first place but all transfered to iCloud, but now they are gone from there as well. I tried restoring my phone from a backup on my computer a few weeks ago, however, this just restored everything else except for the contacts. So what I'm asking if there is any way to get contacts back that were ONLY on iCloud (because apparently apple doesn't realize saving something to a single place on the cloud isn't a good backup) but now are deleted. Does iCloud save this sort of information even after it is deleted?

If the backup is corrupt, there is nothing that can be done.
For what reason did you choose to not copy the pictures off the device to a computer prior to attemping an update or whatever caused the need to restore? iPhones are not intended as sole storage of any media.

Any way to get only new updates for disconnected WSUS?

I have two servers set up. One is online, getting the new updates correctly. The other one is offline where I successfully was able to transfer the approve updates from the online WSUS. My work requires me to get new updates and transfer the new updates
from the online to offline WSUS once in a while. The problem is that I cannot use any external hard drive for data transfer due to security reasons. I can only use DVD of which we only have duel layer (8.5GB max) as our highest.
My question is any way to get the newest updates only and be able to plug them in the WSUScontent folder in the offline WSUS? I rather not have to span 7-8 DVDs for a 61GB folder of all the updates each time. I would love any method or advice that can
be offered. I'm limited on what third-party software I can use as well unfortunately.

You could probably work something out, using ROBOCOPY and it's various comparison operators (such as Archive bit, or date/timestamp).
You'd need to have the "last file set prepared for the offline server" available, to do the comparison. Then, tinker with the comparison operators to determine the set which works for you. This should give you the "delta", and then you could
burn the "delta" files/folders to your media.
Depending on your OS in use, ROBOCOPY might already be built-in for you (so no third-party software needed)

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup, not good, then you can redownload some purchases in some countries.

It should ne in itunes on your computer and included in your regular backup of your computer.
If for some reason you have failed to backup your music, then - in the U.S only - you can get previous itunes purchases from the beta version of icloud. Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links.

Losing your phone is never fun. Especially, when personal content may be lost. If you installed and set up the Verizon Cloud to auto back up the photos on your device, then photos will be saved to the cloud. Unfortunatley, the Verizon Cloud is not set up on the device on it's own. If there was no application set to backup personal content on the device, I apologize there is not a way to retreive lost photos.

Is there any way to get Gatorade out of a Blackberry Curve?

I just spilled some Gatorade on my Blackberry and now it won't even turn on. I took the battery out right away and let it dry for a bit, then I put it back in. It still never turned on, the screen just flashed white then turned off. I don't have a clue what to do it fix it!

know.)As you have learn'nt by yourself, there is no API provided which returns the bytecodes of a class. I suppose the reason for the Method object to provide one such method is because the computaion happens only inside a method. So it will contain associated mnemonics and operands therefore contains bytecodes.
Little painful solution would be to look into JVM spec for the byte size of 'Class' structure and add it with method bytecodes and arrive at a rough figure. I would also like to see the solution to it.

If for some reason you did fail to do this, then they are very liekly gone.
You can try restoring from backup.
