Any way to Multi video chat?

Im new to Mac, I have a macbook air, is there any way to get Ichat to have Multi video chat?
Or any other app?

As far as I am aware the AIR should multichat in Video
AT the top right of your Buddy list does the Video icon look "Stacked"

Bitrate drop in multi video chat

We've been using iChat for 3-way inter-office video chat for about a year. In the last three months or so, we've noticed a drop in video quality. The bitrate (shown in the Connection Doctor) drops from about 500kbps to 100kpbs or less as soon as we add the third office to a chat.
So, I ran some tests. I got 2 MacBook Pros and 1 iMac, all running 10.5.1, all less than a year old. I hooked them up via cable to the same LAN (AirPort Extreme routing). With any combination of 2 computers, I got bitrates between 1500 and 2300 kbps. As soon as a third machine was added, the host machine's bitrate dropped to 200kpbs or less. The other machines would drop, but only to about 500 to 1500 kpbs. The Network Activity monitor confirmed the Connection Doctor's bitrates. CPU loads were <40% the whole time. The same thing was observered whichever machine hosted the video chat.
I understand that resolution will drop when you go from 2-way to 3 or 4-way video chat, probably from a max of 640x480 to 320x240. But this is a much worse drop.
Has anyone else seen this? I'm wondering if Leopard, or one of the recent Quicktime patches, broke the multi-way video chat, since I don't think it was this bad before. Three current machines on a LAN shouldn't see a bitrate drop.
Any help would be appreciated.

iChat 4 pushes Video to the Graphics card rather that the Processor and any RAM you have.
Close each ichat
Copy and Paste the bold text below in every Terminal and hit enter
/Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7
(you could do one computer at a time but that would mean more repeats)
This will in fact launch iChat and create a log of doing so.
The log will continue as you start a Chat.
This may highlight if one Graphics card is of lower spec and slowing the thing down.
The Log will be very very long.
Quit iChat before Terminal.
Save the log(s) somewhere like TextEdit
Spend some time going through them to identify when the Video chat started and when the third person was added.

I was trying to do a video chat with a friend and kept getting a not enough bandwidth error.
After trying to get it to work, i lost the ability to do a multi-video chat. Basically it just isn't an option (same with multi-audio chat).
How do i get that back

Is there any way to convert video files and keep my project in Final Cut Pro 7?

I am currently editing a project, and have been having multiple issues with freezing while editing. Upon doing some quick research, I learned it is bcause my clips are in the h.264 format, which is not a good editing codec. Is there any way to change the codec of the videos and keep the project I have?

You might need to relink the timeline to the new media. Just take the H.264 files offline, and reconnect to the new media. If you media managed the sequence, it'd relink. But then you are only converting the files used in the sequence, not all your media.

Any way to get video out from your Treo 800???

I have video files on my treo 800. I can view them on my treo 800. Is there any way to "pipe" the video output through the usb port and wirelessly to something else so I can take my treo 800 to a customer presentation and play a video for them on a larger screen????

I guess I'm not sure I understand this answer. I'm looking for a way to connect a cable to the usb port on the Treo 800 and connect on the other end to audio/video jacks. Or send the video out wirelessly. I want to be able to send the video to a larger screen TV or a lcd projector for presentations. I am looking for both the hardware solution and if necessary the software piece of the solution????????

Any way to salvage video that crashes on recording stop?

I have a Blackmagic Intensity Pro that I use to record Xbox gameplay through Premiere Pro. Sometime when I go to stop the recording the little screen to name the video does not pop up and I end up with a video that I can't watch.
It gets saved with the next increasing file name but it has no length attribute and will not play in any player. Is there any way to save these files? There is usually no way to go back to re-film unless I start the whole game over.

I shot a few videos with my camera this weekend, and I had to hold the camera in portrait mode so as to properly capture the subjects. Now when I import the clips into iMovie, the video is sideways. Is there any way to just convert the entire clip 90 degrees so it looks correct? Either with iMovie 06 or 08? Thanks

Well I've found a way to rotate the video itself within Quicktime, then I just reimported the clips into iMovie '08, but the clips themselves in the clip viewer appear in the correct orientation, but when playing or scrubbing through them, they again play sideways, as if the movie was never rotated in the first place.
Any way to rotate the clips and make it stick in iMovie?

Apple will have an iMovie app for the iPhone 4 for editing video that was captured with the iPhone 4, but not sure if the same will be available for the iPad.

Is there any way to use video with the new Flash CC HTML5 Canvas?

I am a long time Flash user trying to determine if this new version of the program is something to add to the workflow again (after the last several years of not being able to use it) and the tutorials I have seen are not well written. Is there a way to use a video file within the animation, like with the AS2 and AS3 versions of Flash where I could insert a video clip into a symbol and animate the symbol while the video played.
What I need to know is what format of video file I should use and how to add it into the timeline since Flash does not seem to be allowing for any type of import for this.

Ok, so there are limitations, are they written down somewhere? I have been looking for a list of do and do not functions and the ways to work around them. Are they in the documentation somewhere I haven't discovered?
Right now all I am looking to do is create Classic Tweens that animate movement and opacity so I can create a presentation with video that includes these elements. Is that level of functionality available in the HTML5 Canvas, or is that still on the drawing board?
Is there a specific name for what I am looking to do that would aid my search? HTML5 video is not enough since the answer has not been forthcoming in Google or on Adobe or Stack Overflow. I am starting to think that nobody has thought of this yet, or if they have they decided that it is not currently possible and skipped the part where the rest of us find out.
Any thoughts on making the connection to either doing this or finding out that it is just not possible yet would be very helpful.

Any way to reset videos to the beginning?

Im sure that those here who use iTunes to view videos are aware of the function that makes iTunes remember where you stopped watching the video.
I find this quite useful if I am watching long movies that are a couple of hours, but if I watch a short podcast, say Happy Tree Friends. After the toon is over they start to roll the credits, and I don't want to see that. So I close the window or if I'm on my iPod I press menu.
But the problem is that the next time I want to see the same episode and I start to play it, it automatically starts in the end, where there are only credits!
Is there no way that I can like reset it? Like select all my videos in iTunes except for the long ones and reset them so that they all start from the beginning?
It is really bugging me out if I want to see a video I watched ages ago, and then it starts in the middle of the video!
I hope there is a reset function in iTunes, otherwise Apple should do one.

I did not try this because in the Swedish iTunes it says "Kom ihåg plats" and if you translate that it means kind of "remember place". So I asumed that it had something to do with playlists and not the playback.

Is there any way to get videos from my Sony Handycam to my MacBook?

I just found out today about how the Handycam (which uses MiniDV) uses a firewire cable, while the MacBook doesn't have a firewire port. Obviously this is a problem. I am exceedingly new to Apple. I need a simple answer as to whether there is ANYTHING I can do, even if roundabout, to get the material I have on Mini-DV tapes onto the MacBook.
Also, if this is going to be a real problem, is there a different type of camcorder I should look at buying instead of my (practically brand new...) Handycam?

If you need Firewire look at the new (early 2009) white Macbook it has Firewire. (and the new NVIDIA graphics.)

Maybe, A USB camcorder.
USB camcorders use formats that use high compression to store the video files thereby lowering quality. This may be good enough to give you "decent footage" if so, then you won't have a problem using a USB camcorder. However I have never been happy with the quality that a USB camcorder provides (they always look grainy to me).
A Firewire miniDV tape cam will give you lossless quality video and is best for any editing purposes (iMovie, Final Cut etc.). So without Firewire make sure you get a chance to try out any USB camcorder before you buy.

Any Way To Keep Video And Audio In Sync When Editing A Project?

When adding or deleting a video or picture to the main storyline, my secondary audio gets out of sync and I have to go back and manually reposition all the audio. Is there someway to force the audio and video to stay in sync?

Connect the two via Target Disk Mode using a Firewire cable.
1. Boot the computer to which you want to transfer data into Target Disk Mode.
2. Boot the other computer normally.
3. The TDM computer's hard drive will appear on the other computer's Desktop.
4. Transfer files as you would to any hard drive.
