Just thought i'd mention that you can do this much more easily by using a program like mp3Tag (free) where you can batch rename file tags. In other words, you can select all your files and change all the albums to blank or whatever you want in one process. take care

Are you sure you only have Pages 5, because if you migrated from your old System, Pages '09 should be in your Applications/iWork folder.
The plain and simple truth is you are not going to make a silk purse out a Sow's Pages 5.
No matter how hard you try.
I give solutions to Pages 5 where they exist but don't have the pixie dust to make it happen if it doesn't.

Is there any way to not use the plugin container for firefox? Ever since I updated, my firefox browser has been crashing almost every day and it always says that the plugin container crashed, but the rest of firefox freezes up as well, so I am forced to end the process itself.

HT4085 Is there any way I can have the rotation lock off but not have to set my iPad to mute?

For some reason my iPad has done something strange, either I have to lock the rotation or mute some of the sounds....I didn't have to do either of these before, is there anyway I can have both working at the same time?

I have posted this many times in order to try to help users understand how this works. Hopefully, it will make things clearer for you.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

I agree with you on this one. If they would just have an option that when you touch none interactive section maybe just the home button appears.
I rarely use that navigation system and the people that I have tested ralley know what to do when it pops up. If the page number came up instead of a slider, I think people would get it. Plus instead of icons have text. Table of content, home, back.

Yea the new changes are hard to digest for those that liked the Mac look. But I have some advice though, that made me feel more comfortable with it.
Safari Preferences > Appearance > Font Smoothing = Medium
That should make the fonts look like they did before. Also if you use Vista and think the Title bar is difficult to read, try:
Control Panel > Customize Colors > Choose Frost
(if you have a dark desktop background, this makes the tabs much more readable and Mac like :))

Currently, if I send an email to our "IT" list, and I'm on the "IT" list, I get a copy of my own email sent back to me. This seems silly to me. I know I've used some program in the past that was smart enough not to do that
but I don't recall if Exchange/Outlook has the ability to not do that.

An outlook rule or hub transport rule to delete messages sent from you should do it. In the old Exchange/Outlook days, it didnt do that, yes.

I believe that is not possible. This is one of Apple's security features and should be abided. Rememeber, we all agreed to the terms and conditions. This might cause great inconvenience at first but I think we'll get used to this soon.

Is there any way to not create the hidden 'dot' files when copying to a USB

I am moving photos to a USB device for use in a digital picture frame. The problem arises that 'dot' files are also created on the USB device and the digital frame chokes on them. I actually have to take the device to a <egad> Windows system to delete all of the 'dot' files so that the photo frame works correctly. So.. in a word, I would like to perform a copy to the USB device and tell the OS to not generate the 'dot' files. Any ideas? Thanks

Any way to not have Edge be the first option?

Whenever I use my iphone at home, I use my wifi...which works great. I turn off 3G to save on the battery when in the house. However, I've noticed that if I want to use the internet or even check email, sometimes it will try to use Edge before the wifi, which is annoyingly slow. Is there a reason it does this or is this normal? If I have wifi connected, I'd like that to be the only way to surf the web or check email as it's much faster obviously.

The iPhone will attempt to connect to the fastest internet connection available at the time. If you have wi-fi access on and 3G access enabled, it there is an available wi-fi network that you have connected to, your iPhone will automatically connect to the wi-fi network for internet access. If there isn't a wi-fi network available that you have access to, your iPhone will connect via 3G. If 3G access is turned off, your iPhone will connect via EDGE.
The cellular network is always available in the background so to speak since the iPhone will switch from an available wi-fi network that you have access to - to the cellular data or internet network and vice-versa automatically and seamlessly. Visual voicemail messages are downloaded to the iPhone via the cellular data or internet network only - so it is always available in the background as long as you have cellular reception.
If you aren't actively using your iPhone for internet access when connected to an available wi-fi network, your iPhone may switch to the cellular data or internet network while asleep, but when you wake your iPhone up, it should switch back to the wi-fi network with a few seconds at most.

Is there any way to NOT have iTunes/iPod movies show up under Movies in FR?

I only want the movies in my Movie folder to show up in Front Row. Right now the movies in thr Movie folder are relegated to the bottom, after a long list of the mpeg4 files that I have in iTunes. These are lower res. movies to watch on my small iPod screen, whereas the higher res movies in my Movie folder are for watching on my large monitor. Is there a way to eliminate the list of iTunes mpeg4 movies from the Front Row menus (or at least combining them into one folder)?

Hi Marty J. I tried what you said, but all my iTunes Movies still form a longlist at the beginning of Front Row's Movie selection.
Incidentally, unless I misunderstood you, you can't "change" the "Show" box to anything. All I could do was to type "iPod Movies" into the "Show" box. Afterwards, FR shows no category called "iPod Movies" and all of my iPod movies still create a long list before I finally reach the movies of my "Movie" folder (i.e., Users>username>Movies). I want the contents of the Users>username>Movies folder to show up at the top of the list in Front Row. I don't want to have to scroll all the way thru 60+ iPod movies before I get to this folder's contents. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Is there a way to NOT have the data from a formatted search highlighted

I have a formatted search that returns a big chunk of data, some comments that are then added to. When the fs is fired, it returns the data, but all of the data is highlighted so when the user starts typing they overwrite the data that was just returned. I know they could just hit the right arrow key or click their mouse at the end, but they don't do that half of the time. I also know they could use ctrl-z or undo when they do this, but they don't do that either. It would just be nice if they could fire the fs and when the data is returned, the cursor would be at the end of the data.
Any thoughts?

I don't think there are any options for you to change default system behavior like this. What you may do is to change your FMS logic to get only one record if possible. Post your query here if you can.

HT5295 Is there any way to not use the Podcast App and still listen to podcasts? This app is a substantial downgrade to listening through the music player.

The Podcast App is terrible. It can't seem to keep track to what has or has not been listened to, it randomly restarts after pauses. I never had to use the App until this last upgrade and now I'm forced to. I would like to go back to listening to podcasts through the music player. Is that possible?
