Any way to reinstall NVIDIA kexts/drivers?

I had Leopard running just fine up until a week back when I lost power to my iMac which corrupted a bunch of files, unfortnately it would seem that something to do with the display drivers had been affected. At the time I couldn't get the login to show and just ended up with the grey Apple logo and a frozen progress gear. However, I could tell the that the thing was actually booting fine as the disk continued to churn AND I could actually remote onto it using Logmein!
So, I kind of took a shot in the dark and remotely installed the Lion upgrade hoping it would also replace/fix/repair the NVidia drivers/kexts... But... it didn't... I had the same result.
Anyway.. I then found that if I booted in Single User Mode and removed the Nvidia kext's it would all boot perfectly, but clearly it was now using base or default drivers as I can't play any video and the screen updates quite slowly.
Now I'm kind of stuck, since there is no Lion disk to pull the correct nvidia drivers from and the ones on my Leopard install disk are not compatible...
Any ideas?

Resolved this issue, might be of use to others...
Basically I managed to partition the Lion HD (luckily I had enough space to do this), re-downloaded the Lion Install App, ran it and installed a fresh copy of Lion on the new partition.
I then simply used the Migration Assistant to copy everything over from the old partition to the new one - worked a treat, apps, settings, folders, even dropbox, all working perfectly... SO FAR

I have reinstalled the utilities and drivers by using the recovery disks I made when the laptop was new, but have since lost them. I only want to reinstall a few utilities and drivers, but not restore the whole system. Is there any way to reinstall the "Toshiba Application Installer" or recreate the recovery disks?

You should be able to burn recovery discs. See the section Creating recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 69 of the User's Guide.

Usually this error occurs when trying to downgrade the iOS or in a previously jailbroken phone. In this case, you cannot get help here. The internet and Google are your best friends.

It was bought for my son and he never registered it.
I still don't understand why Neema was trying to reinstall it when she didn't have the serial number but after she uninstalled it, said she couldn't reinstall it because I didn't have the serial number. I never had it yet she didn't have a problem with trying to install it originally.
Still won't buy another Adobe product again. I've talked to a lot of people who can't stand Adobe and I now know why. I can't even update Flash without my whole system crashing or getting a virus.
I won't re-purchase InDesign either. I realize it should have been registered and I explained that my email had been hacked and my proof of purchase was deleted with ALL of my emails and I also had a major virus after updating Flash.
I can't afford to buy the same product twice.
I will find out what other formats my book distributor (Ingram Books) accepts and purchase that program.
Not impressed with Adobe and will share my experience with others so they can be sure to register their product and make a copy of the program BEFORE allowing an Adobe employee to take control of their computers.
If you knew the answer to my question, customer support should have too.

To back up your data, either use Target Disk Mode and a cable from another Mac (which mounts your problem Mac as an external disk of the other Mac) and Disk Utility on that other Mac, or — and this is all assuming you either have a slow Internet connection and don't want to use Internet Recovery, or if you have an older Mac that doesn't support Internet Recovery — you can create a bootable USB key disk on another Mac and then boot your problematic Mac from that keydisk, then use Disk Utility from the installer to make a backup to another (external) (scratch) disk. You can also use that keydisk to reinstall OS X, to repair or to reinstall OS X.

Look for all files that have "Garageband" in their name and remove them. That should enable you to install GB2.

Any way to restart WWAN kext after premature disconnect?

Every once in a while I end up unplugging my Verizon mifi from the USB port before the device has fully disconnected. This causes a "WWAN Disconnect" warning message box to pop up. After that, the only way I can get the mac to recognize the device again is to restart.
Obviously, the best way to not have this problem is to avoid the behavior. But in the case where it was an honest mistake, is there any way to restart the driver, kext or whatever it is that allows the OS to recognize the device without restarting the entire machine?

Can I just enable it for individual users for testing? I tried doing a get-csclientpolicy and replacing -identity global with -identity <user ID> but it said it didn't exist since it seems it's looking for policies. Not sure if there's
some other way to do that.

Hey everyone. I've been having some streaming problems with quicktime streaming on the web, as desribed in my other threads, but I was wondering if there is any way to restore all the settings in quicktime pro? Is there anyway to reinstal the program without having to repay for it? I'm too afraid to try/mess aorund because I dont want to lose it then have to pay for it again.

You should just be able to put your registration key back into the proper spot in the free version if you ever need to and it should re-activate (all the options that were dimmed will now be live). If you've already paid for the pro version of 7 you should never have to re-buy it (as long as you have your code, which should be retrievable from Apple anyway). Now obviously you will have to re-set your preferences if you've deleted them. (If you had QuickTime 6 Pro you will have to pay to get QuickTime 7 Pro though)

What do you mean you "accidentally deleted bluetooth" off your MacBook?
You can't delete Bluetooth, unless you've been specifically messing about inside the hidden "Library" folder and entering your admin password when deleting files in there - you certainly can't do that "accidentally".

I tried everything I could think of (delving into the recovery partition, searching through the later updates to Snow Leopard), but everything I found was lower than App Store.app version 1.1.1, and wouldn't launch. Reinstalling Lion may be your only option, although if the recovery partition doesn't have it, then I don't know how it'd bring it back. … and if you don't have the App Store, you can't redownload the Lion install that would allow you to reinstall Lion the same way as before. I'd upload my copy to Dropbox or something, but I figure that would probably break some rule (also, you wouldn't know if that was actually it or some malware).
If you have a Time Machine backup you can restore it from that. You can try what reinstall/repair options the recovery partition provides, but apart from that… you may have to resort to shadier sites.

I have tried disk utility to try and repair the disk and it shows everything is fine. If there was a way to uninstall mac mail and then re-install it it might work but I don't know how to go about doing that. Would appreciate guidance on this.

You would need to have enabled iCloud on your MBP. Your question indicated you did not.
Its serial number is useful for establishing ownership should the MBP be recovered. File a police report.

I didn't want to risk deleting my current version without finding a clean copy to reinstall. The only version available to me in the App store is 9.6.1 which is for Yosemite but I have Mountain Lion. My MacBook Pro is currently running the Leopard OS, but I made the mistake of leaving the discs at home - nearly 3000 miles away, in a sealed storage box. Yes, I made a stupid mistake in packing it away. I'm trying to get Boot Camp set up, and to get the necessary drivers, I need the install disc.
My question is - is there any way I can get the drivers installed without using the Leopard install disc? Is there a download somewhere that can help me with that? Or am I totally out of luck?

Sadly, I've been through this too..although, my Mac OS X DVDs were a mere two miles from home. That being said...two miles feels like 3000 when it's -5 degrees fahrenheit outside.
The most recommended alternative I'm aware of is to grab them through the world of BitTorrent.
In my case, I ended up downloading individual drivers from the hardware vendors sites...the downside to this is that you'll be missing a lot of the valuable Apple software that's part of the Boot Camp software installer. That got the basics working (video, chipset & networking, etc.) until I remembered to bring the DVD home from work to install actual Boot Camp software.
