Any way to revert to a previously saved version?

Help!
I merged layers in order to print to PDF ... then when I closed the document I must have 'saved changes'. Now when I open the pse file there are no layers to work with. I need to make edits now ... is there anything I can do short of starting over??
Thanks.

Looking around, it seems probably that my layers are gone for good

    No.

  • Is there a way of reverting back to previous firefox version

I use firefox extensively for development. I use firebug and dojo. It seems that the new version (Firefox 4) is far slower than the previous version and sometimes hangs completely. I believe this may be caused by Firebug doing a lot of work but it never used to happen. Also firebug doesn't quite seem to work as well with dojo script. Previously if you did a dojo.require to drag in a js script file then you could automatically see it through firebug. Now have to put files I want to debug with script tags. Is there a way of reverting back to previous firefox version?

No need to re-install plugins or extensions.
You can install them both but there are a few steps to take.
When you install the second version of Firefox use the custom installation option and choose a different location to install Firefox.
In order to use both versions, you need to create a new profile for the second version of Firefox (Firefox stores user data in the profile). Using the same profile with different versions can cause problems. Once you create a new profile you can copy certain data such as bookmarks and passwords between them. You can also use Firefox Sync to keep the profile synchronized. Finally, you will need to set up shortcuts to launch the correct profile for each version.
The following links show how to do this:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Shortcut_to_a_specific_profile
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firefox-sync (only needed for Firefox 3.6, it is built into Firefox 4)
An alternative way of testing Firefox 4 is to install the portable version on your hard drive. It will use its own profile folder and not interfere with the other version of Firefox. You can get the portable version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

  • HOw do i revert to a previously saved version of a document?

How do i revert to a previously saved version of a document? I have no idea how, but i closed and saved a document and the whole thing when reopened was blank (all 26 pages) apart from the last 4 pages id just added b4 saving. How do i get it back? Matter of life or death as hand in is tomorrow. thanks

Have you backed up the document? For example, by using Time Machine. If you have then just need to restore the document from an earlier date (ie the latest date before 26 pages were deleted).
If you haven't backed up the document then you're in trouble. The File > Revert to Saved menu command only undoes changes you made since the last time you saved your document.  As you saved the document with the 26 pages missing, choosing Revert will not get the 26 pages back.

  • Is there a way to revert to a previously saved Garage Band file?

My daughter was working on Garage Band and couldn't find the tracks she thought she had saved. I know on PCs there is auto save and there's usually a back up file in the temp folder. Is there the same thing for the Mac? Help! Thanks.
    Sam

No, backup files are only created for documents, but not for project packages, like GarageBand projects. But GarageBand should prompt you to save the project, when you try to quit and the project has not been saved. Did GarageBand crash, so it could not save the project? In that case, the recorded audio should be still in the project package. Your daughter could try to ctrl-click the project ( the My Song.band) she created and use "Show Package Contents". The "Media" folder should have her recorded adio files.
And if she is lucky, Time Machine may have save the previous version as hourly backup, if she is using TimeMachine and the backup drive was connected.

  • Is there any way to revert to the previous version of Firefox.

when i try to open my webmail, using the appropriate password i get the following message: https://webmail.primus.ca/parse.php?file=html/english/xp/xp.html&frame=1
I'd hardly find it necessary to contact the web provider, except for that, so i'd be content to go back a step to be able to NOT have to use Internet Explorer just to check email when i'm on the road

This is a Thunderbird forum. Are you actually asking about Thunderbird or really about Firefox?
In both cases, the answer is pretty much the same; go to the site (below), drill down to the version you want, on the platform you use (windows/mac/linux), in the language you use, and download it, then run it.
There is no need to uninstall the previous version.
    Thunderbird email: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/
    Firefox browser: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/
I think most "usability" issues with Thunderbird would be addressed by using TB v24.6. I'm not so sure what would have changed in Firefox to annoy you. ;-)

  • How can I revert to a previous saved version of a document?

I accidentally saved instead of saving as... and lost my original text.
I heard there is a way to get it back. I am not working on icloud, just on my local hard drive. Can anyone help?

Scroll through the dates on the far right, choose a date and Restore.
You might have to do it several times to find the actual version you're looking for.

  • Is there a way to revert to the previous version of the podcast app?

I really hate the new podcast app version 1.2.1. There has to be a way to revert to the previous version. Don't know why Apple doesn't offer it's users the option of staying with the version that we prefer. We're asked to update without knowing if we'll like the new version. No trial period - just take a chance. I did, and I regret it. I will never click on an update again. I went from loving Apple to hating them overnight.
There must be a work-around somewhere. Please help if you can.

Thanks for the response. Not sure if it's backed up, and not sure how to locate if it is. I downloaded the update directly onto ipod touch - and when I re-synched apps from itunes library to try to install previous ver.  it changed to the new podcast ver. 1.2.1. Several moths ago I reverted to an older v. of itunes library(10.0?) through a folder called "previous itunes libraries" in my itunes folder - but I don't remember what I did - someone instructed me. Any chance of that containing older podcast v?
Unfortunately I'm not too tech savvy

  • Is there any way to revert to an older version of iTunes?

GoodReader (an iOS app) has a 32 bit windows program (GoodReader USB) that allows easy drag and drop transferring of folders and files between my windows computer and my iPad.
Upgrading to the newest 64 bit version of iTunes disabled the GoodReader USB transfer program.  The program doesn't think iTunes is installed (because it only works with the 32 bit version).  GoodReader hasn't upgraded the transfer program yet and I've been told they might not.  I use this program several times per week and it's a hardship to lose its functionality.
I uninstalled iTunes, downloaded a 32 bit version of iTunes and tried to install it.  Unfortunately, the install doesn't work.  The install program essentially insisted that I needed the 64 bit version.  I've reinstalled the 64 bit iTunes 12 for the time being.  Is there any way to revert to the last version of iTunes that was running on my computer.  Alternately, is there another iOS app (similar to GoodReader) with as good a USB transfer program that lefts me drag and drop folders and files onto my iPad?

    Try iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
You may need to fully uninstall all Apple components before switching. If you run into problems see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip. Also links to the previous build if required.

  • I accidentally hit "back-up" rather than "restore backup" when I got my new iPhone. Is there any way I can get a previous backup? or is everything gone forever?

I cracked my screen recently so I went in to the store to get a new one. Everything was going great until I hit the wrong button and now everything is lost. Is there any way I can get a previous iCloud backup on my phone?

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup.  If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup.  You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone.  However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

Yes, you stop using the same Apple ID under Settings > iCloud.

  • Any way to revert to old notes?

I've got my iphone 4 set up for wireless sync.  My son was watching a movie on my iphone, and got out of the movie, into the notepad, and changed my most current note which had a couple of email addresses that I needed.  I didn't realize he did this, and as soon as we got home, the note had synced to my computer before I could stop it.
Is there any way to revert to an old version?

Not unless you had backed up your phone prior to this.  If you do have this note backed up you can either restore your phone from backup (which reverts all your data to this older version, see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766), or you can use a 3rd party program to extract the notes data from the backup (such as http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com/)

  • How can I revert to a previous saved file?

    Hi,
I have been working on Word for Mac 2011 and have been saving continuously onto the same document as my work progresses. I always reference manually and somebody suggested I use footnotes to reference. This was too problematic as I needed to reference separately
at the end of three sections and footnotes was only allowing me one lot of references. So I copied and pasted my other two sections underneath the footnote referencing  and Word must have assumed it was part of the footnotes because when I completed my
work and went back to re-reference each section manually and delete the old footnote references, I lost all my work done underneath the footnotes! Now, I hear you can "revert to previous saved file" or some other such thing  to go back to a
previous save of the same document. Any help is greatly appreciated on how to do this!!
    Thanks,
    Ayema

If you haven't saved the document, pressing Command+Z will undo the paste.
If you have already saved the file then hopefully you have the option set in preferences to Always Create a Backup and in the folder where the original file is locate you will find a file name "Backup of..." the file name you are working on. This
will be a how the file looked prior to the last save.
If you don't have the Always Create a Backup option set, besides "Shame on You" then go to your Time Machine backup which should be no more than 1-hour old and you can get previous hours... assuming you have that function enable. If you don't then
    again... Shame on You!
If you have neither of these built-in options set then I pray you are using my
GotUrBack application running, which will protect you with up to 9 levels of backup of your saved version of the file.
    http://www.greatcirclelearning.com/zapps-got-ur-back
And if you don't have any of the above set or running then I'm sorry to have to say... you are out of luck and have a great deal of file recreation to do.
    Kind Regards, Rich ... http://greatcirclelearning.com

  • Any way to turn OFF that stupid saving of multiple copies of documents?!

I would love to know who thought it was a good idea to add this WITHOUT a way to turn it off!! So when you're in a text document (or any other kind of file that you can make changes in) you can go into the Time Machine icon on the status bar, select "Enter Time Machine" and there will be multiple versions of your document from various states auto saved so that you can go back to a previous version of your document for whatever reason. This can be a great thing, EXCEPT when you have no choice in that matter!
I DO NOT NEED a hundred copies of every single document I have on my computer because I happened to do a lot of tweeking to minor lines of text or make numerous very minor changes. And before anyone asks (because I am SO sick of answering this question twenty times a day) I DO NOT have a time machine hard drive OR Time Capsule connected to my computer in any way at all, (under normal usage. I do have a Time Machine hard drive I manually connect every few days to back up my computer, I just don't ALWAYS have it connected because it's a laptop) these multiple copies are being saved into my computer and taking up valuable hard drive space and there's no way to shut off this feature. I just called into Apple and the only thing they said was "Well it doesn't take up very much hard drive space" completely failing to see the point that I don't want it to take up ANY space because, again, I DON'T NEED A HUNDRED COPIES OF EVERY DOCUMENT IN MY COMPUTER!!!
Does anyone have any idea how to shut off this "feature" because it is utterly stupid. in System Settings -> General I checked "Ask to keep changes when closing documents" and I selected "None" in the "Show Recent Items for Documents, Apps and Servers" but it still saves multiple copies of my documents. Can anyone  help me figure out how to shut this off and delete the multiple copies? Not all of us are hysterical computer users opening up random documents and slapping the keyboard with our open palms requiring the ability to go back to multiple pages of the same document, some of us actually KNOW how to open up something, make a change and save it. We don't need the computer to constantly save multiple copies of everything we do so there needs to be SOME way to shut this off. What about my final cut, Aperture, Motion and any other program that make files? Am I going to have a thousand copies of every single video I ever edit from this point on? (cause anyone who does video editing knows there will be MANY tweeks and changes to those) What about Pages, Numbers or Keynote? How much room on my hard drive is going to be wasted storing hundreds of copies of hundreds of documents every time I wanted to change a graph colour slightly, or add tax into a spreadsheet, or change a decimal point in a presentation? Adding this without a way to shut it off was the most ridiculous thing I've seen! Thanks to anyone that can help.

Actually, there are two mechanisms by which Mountain Lion does this, both of which are on by default (for laptops; only one of which is on by default for desktops).
You mention going into the Time Machine icon in the menubar? Good news - that one's easy to turn off.
To do so, you need to open Terminal.app (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and copy/paste this line into the Terminal window:
    sudo tmutil disablelocal
press 'return' on your keyboard and enter your Admin password. Note that the password does not echo to the screen, so type carefully.
The second mechanism is what Apple call 'Versions'. The bad news is you can't turn Versions off; the good news is it's only enabled on certain Apple apps like Preview, TextEdit, XCode, Pages, Numbers, Keynote etc. The only way to avoid Versions, therefore, is to use alternatives such as Skim (for Preview), Tincta (for TextEdit) and LibreOffice for Pages, Numbers, Keynote (alas, I don't know of an alternative for XCode).

  • Is there any way to revert the header from Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 back to CC 2014?

For the most part, I like the UI change. It's sleek and easier on the eyes with emphasis in the right parts of the panels, but there's one thing I'd like to revert back to CC 2014...
It's the new header. The line attached to the header is no longer lined up with the header, instead it's one frame behind. This works fine for the most tasks, however when I go to mark up audio zoomed all the way in, having the line so off from where the playhead is makes everything harder to visualize and usually incorrect on the first attempt. Is there any way to return the line back to the center of the header?
    CC 2014.1 header ^^^^
    CC header ^^^^
    Thanks!

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling a "Previous Version" to go from CC2014.2 back to CC 2014.1. This did not work however.  Rather than have the option to update to 2014.2 the fresh install was already updated to version 2.
Anyone else know how to revert to the original CC 2014 or version 1?
    Thanks!
