Any way to sync with Google Contacts and activesync with Exchange emails?

Here's what I'm trying to do:
1. Sync my iPhone contacts with Google
2. Have my private calendar synched with Google
3. Have my work calendar synched with Exchange
4. Get push email from my Exchange server
5. View Google email
I have done 1 & 2 using Google Sync for iPhone, but since this is done via ActiveSync it blocks my ability to add my corporate Exchange server as I am only allowed to have one ActiveSync account on the iPhone.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi Adam,
As you probably discovered, the problem is Google Calendar. The iPhone can get email directly from Gmail - without Google Sync - but the Calendar won't work. There are two main options
1. The simplest option is to view your Google calendar via CalDAV. The iPhone supports CalDAV and can sync with any any CalDAV compatible calendar system. Unfortunately, I believe that it's read-only: using CalDAV, you can't update your Google calendar from the iPhone. However, if read-only is fine, that's the simplest option. Then you'd use Exchange for your work stuff, Mail on the iPhone to talk directly to Gmail, and CalDAV support in the calendar to view your Google calendar.
2. The more sophisticated option is to use Mail on the iPhone to get Gmail, then use Exchange for everything else. You'd then add SyncMyCal on your Windows PC to sync your Google calendar with your Exchange account. The sync is two-way and works very well. With your Google calendar available in Exchange, the sync from Exchange to the iPhone will now have your Google calendar items too - and you can create new events on your iPhone's calendar that'll end up in Google calendar.
Regards,
Fergus

  • Is there a way to sync my blackberry contacts and calendar with my iPad using iCloud?

I still use my blackberry and am not giving it up so quickly...but in the months Ive been using my iPad it has definitely become an alternative at times.
Therefore is there a way tp sync my Blackberry contacts and calendar with my iPad using iCloud?

You three would do better to sync to google directly.  Google has a blackberry app that will allow you to sync your contacts and calendars.  The app isn't perfect, but it works reasonably well, especially if you're just using one calendar to sync.
Then there's plenty of ways to sync those to your iPad using Google, including Exchange, or simply adding it as a google account.
As for iCloud, there really isn't any supported or unsupported method to do what you're trying to do, at least at this time.  If there is, it would definitely be a hack and I would be wary of risking your contact or calendar data on it..

  • Is there any way to sync with new pc? HELP!

Ok, so I have an ipod touch and a new computer. The old computer that the ipod was synced to was destoyed. Can anyone tell me if there is ANY way to sync with the new pc AND keep all the songs, games, pic, and everything? I don't want to lose everything!!

There are several shareware utilities that can be used to transfer some of your data such as music files from the Touch to the computer - search for "ipod" at VersionTracker. Contacts and calendar data will sync automatically when you use iTunes to sync the Touch, but be sure to get your music files and pics transferred first. Apps should sync normally.

  • HT1414 Is there any way to restore i-Phone contacts and photos from an earlier (not most recent) backup?

When I updated my i-Phone's version, I lost all my contacts and photos.  Although I had a back-up of them, the backup disappeared when another backup was done automatically when the phone synced automatically at a later date.  Is there any way to access an earlier backup, even if it is not showing under Devices in iTunes or in the Backup folder in the appropriate Apple folder under the computer's Documents and Settings?

Please start your own thread rather than by replying to a threadjacker in a post that's been dormant for over six months, especially as you couldn't have been updating to any version of iOS 5. Use a properly descriptive subject line, explain the problem you're having, what error messages you've gotten and what steps you've taken to so far to troubleshoot.
    Best of luck.

  • IS there any way to re-instate my contacts and diary on my i-phone as they have disappeared?

Epic technological fail. So I was an IT winner this morning when I added various email accounts to my i-phone. Celebrated with a cuppa and porridge, as you do. Went to send a text message - no contacts! Went to check my diary for today - no entries AT ALL. Ummmmm. I am trying to be a calm bunny but does anyone know what I need to do to re-instate this info. I think it might be because I have deleted an old outlook email from my phone. DOH! Apple Support say they can help me but I will need to pay for that kind of support. Grumble, grumble. I know some of you out there are technological whizzes and love nothing more than helping a damsel in distress (I have dropped the f bomb about 5 times so far)... xx

    Hi David,
Unfortunately it's all-or-nothing with FB contacts, at least as it currently stands. So you'll get all your FB 'friends', and all of their birthdays...
You shouldn't however be seeing duplicate birthdays, if everything's set up correctly. You will see duplicate birthdays if:
    (a) a FB contact also exists in your iCloud or local contacts, but Address Book hasn't automatically linked the two (can happen for example if the names don't exactly match), leaving two separate entries for that person (each with their birthday added, of course). In this case, select the two cards for that person and choose Link Selected Cards from the Card menu.
    (b) if a FB contact also exists in your iCloud or local contacts, and Address Book has correctly matched and linked them but the birthday you had on file is different to the one the person stores on Facebook - in this case Address Book simply doesn't know which birthday is correct so uses both. Edit the contact so that the iCloud/local birthday matches the FB one, and the duplicate should disappear.
In both cases, you may have to quit and relaunch Calendar to see immediate changes.
Does that help (or even make any sense)?

  • Is there a way to sync gmail accounts, contacts and calendar to my android phone through iCloud?

I have an iMac, a MacBook Pro, an iPad, an iPod Touch, and an Android phone.  I can get iCloud to sync all my mail, calendars, and contacts across all my Apple devices with no problem.  Does anybody know if there is a way to get my Android to sync my calendars and contacts from iCloud?

I set up manual accounts with my iPhone 3G.  You can try to enter the server accounts for iCloud manually on you Android device and try it out.

    Upgrade to 10.7.5. See:
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Is there any way to sync my lotus notes calendar and contacts with the calendar and contacts on my MacBook Pro?

Is there any way to sync my lotus notes calendar and contacts with the calendar and contacts on my MacBook Pro?

You would need to have enabled iCloud on your MBP. Your question indicated you did not.
Its serial number is useful for establishing ownership should the MBP be recovered. File a police report.

  • Is there any way to sync my pc outlook contacts and calender with my mac

is there any way to sync my work pc outlook contacts and calender with my personal mac air

Sure. Install the latest version of iTunes on your PC, and just connect your iPod Touch to it, decline the prompt to autosync (the warning about losing your music), then go into the info tab, select sync contacts, and click apply. Your contacts will be transferred (both directions, i.e. the outlook contacts and your IPT contacts will be merged and the combined set will be present on both lists).
    Hope this helps...

  • Is there any way to sync Outlook for Mac with iPhone? I have tried everything but not successful. Apple says it is not possible to sync contacts from Outlook for Mac to iPhone 5. Any help will be much appreciated.

Is there any way to Sync contacts from Outlook for Mac to iPhone 5? Apple support says that only iTune can only sync contacts from "Contact" which is the default contact of Mac. If one is running Outllok on a Mac machine then it is not possible to sync the contacts with iPhone. It is strange that Apple distributors are promoting and offering machines with promise that Windows users can now run MS Office on Mac machines without any problem. While this is true, it is so strange that one cannot sync the contacts from MacBook Pro to iPhone5. If someone has found a way to sync contacts from Outlook to iPhone 5 please help as it is very frustrating to not be able to sync the contacts. Thanks, Amit.

Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
    Then sync.

  • TS3999 Using OS Mavericks. Any way to sync Contacts & Calendars without using iCloud? Don't always have internet!

Any way to sync ical and contacts without internet?!!

Not unless you want to install OS X server and set up your own CardDAV and CalDAV server as explained here: http://www.macworld.com/article/2061183/itunes-ios-syncing-gone-solve-it-with-se rver-.html.  That would allow you to sync contacts and calendars locally with your Mac as you could before Mavericks.

  • Difficulty keeping Google Contacts and iCloud in sync

I have an iPhone, an iPad, and a Gmail account.  I'd like to keep my contacts consistent across all of them, but I'm finding this to be very difficult.
I followed the instructions on here which seemed to work for editing linked contacts.  But there is a problem with this approach: when using my iphone, I can only add contacts on one of the two accounts (either gmail or icloud) but not both at the same time.  If I'm in "all contacts" and click the add contact button, it will only add a contact in the account designated as "default account" in the iOS contact settings.
Is there a better way to keep all contacts synced?

Since you are using Google, you might consider not trying to add iCloud in the mix, and just sync your Google contacts to your iDevices.  There are many web pages which will walk you through how to setup your Google account on your iPhone or iPad as if it were an Exchange account.  Going that route, you can then select to sync your contacts over the air between Google and your mobile device.  I used that for about a year, then I made the full switch to iCloud.I've debated about going back, but I haven't gotten that desperate yet.
