Any way to tell which module the user is in?

Although I try to avoid it, I occasionally find myself writing plugins that do menu manipulation and other keystroke emissions that depend on module.
It would be great if there was a way, *any* way, to tell which  module is active - even if it entailed sending keystrokes and testing response...

Hey jarnoh,
Maybe the module name in the window title only disappears when the app loses focus. I thought I'd seen it disappear at other times too, but I could be mistaken. (seems to have nothing to do with startup - my mistake).
UPDATE: caught it: If I minimize Lightroom, then maximize it, the window title just says "Lightroom" (no module name). Some places I click, e.g. on a photo, it doesn't change, other places I click -  it changes to show the module name.
Thanks,
Rob

Is there any way to tell which formulas a particular cell is in, reverse look-up style? That is, is there a way to search somehow for which formulas in a sheet contain a particular cell in them without opening all of them up? If not, it would be nice.
I'm fixing a Numbers document that I use in business daily that's become overly complicated, but while I want to clear/delete a number of cells in it to clean it up, I'm not sure if those cells are being used as source for other formulas on the page. I don't have to open all my formulas one by one to see if that cell is in there, do I?! That'd be a huge amount of work if I wanted to eliminate say 10 cells to search each formula on the page to see if it is in there or watch all the cells when I delete that cell to see if the numbers change! There's got to be an easier way! Right click doesn't seem to be any help.
I don't want to damage my daily tool to make it cleaner and reorganize it. Is there really no way to do a reverse look-up of which formulas a particular cell is in?! Any time I click on a formula it highlights all the CELLS in that formula. Why can't I (or can I?) do the reverse and see all the FORMULAS that contain a particular cell?
As a Numbers document ages or gets used frequently, you can sometimes forget which cells are tied to which formulas. You just look for the results of your formulas. Would be a nice thing to be able to do. Thoughts? Work-arounds? Answers?

Answer would be no unless application provided such feature. Numbers does not as far as I know.
Note that even if you have complete list of formulae used in a table, identifying formulae referencing any given cell is not simple.
E.g., cell T20 is referenced not only in
    =T20+1
    but also in
    =SUM(T)
    =SUM(20:20)
    =SUM(S19:U22)
    =OFFSET(S1,19,1,1,1)
    =INDIRECT("T"&(10*2))
In order to identify such formula, we have to actually evaluate it to see if it references the given cell. Especially such formula as OFFSET() and INDIRECT() may not be found by static parser because their parameters can be dynamic.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

  • Any ways to know which is the latest track ?

    Hi there,
I am in deep trouble now.
I record my friend singing. I also video him singing separately.
The problem is that I did 5 takes, all on a separate track.
I know on the video side, the latest one is the correct video. Problem is I don't know which track is correct track to sync with the video.
Any ways to see what time the track are recorded at ?
    Thanks

If you absolutely need to, you can go into the GarageBand project itself and look at the creation times of the media. Just be careful while rooting around in there.
    1. right click (control-click) the GarageBand project.
    2. Select "Show Package Contents"
    3. Open the Media Folder
    4. Select the files and look at the creation dates/times via the column view or list view.
Once you you have determined the correct file, hold down option and drag it to the desktop. Holding down option while dragging and dropping will create a copy of the file as opposed to moving it. (We don't want to move it.)
Then, Open GarageBand, Create a new Project, and drag the new audio file onto the time line.
    Hope this helps!

  • Reader SDK: any way to see what text the user has selected?

I'm using the Adobe Reader SDK with C#, looking at the interapplication communication features.
I can open a document in Reader and allow the user to user the reader tools like select text, etc.
Here's the problem: I want to have my application know what text the user currently has selected.  And I'd like it to know the name of the field that the user has selected, not just the text of the field.
Microsoft Office's Interop has something like this:
    currentDocument.GetSelectedText();
Is there any way to do this with IAC or the javascript or plug-in features of the Reader SDK?
If not, can it be done with the Acrobat API?  I've looked through both sets of documentation, and haven't found what i needed.
    Thanks for any help!

To write a plug-in for the Adobe Reader you need to go through 2 separate steps.
Step one - Download the Adobe Acrobat SDK (from here http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat)
and build your plug-in against the Acrobat product, following the documentation to make sure you only use API's that are available in the Reader program. The documentation tells you what version of the Adobe ACrobat or Reader program is needed for the function and whether the function can be called in Reader.
Step two - Apply for a Reader certificate to allow your plug-in to be loaded by the Reader, the link is on the same web page as the above link. This step can be initiated before you have created your plug-in, and I would recommend that you do start this process before you develop your plug-in as Adobe can refuse to give you the certificate in which case all your development would be wasted.
Only once you have permission form Adobe can you make your plug-in work with the reader application.
Once you have done both these steps there are plenty of people on this forum that can help you with specific problems you may encounter.
If you are not sure you have the knowledge to build the plug-in, there are plenty of people that you can hire to create the solution for you.

  • HT4972 is there a way to tell which computer an ipad syncs with?

I have tried to sync and update my ipad on my family's 3 different mac's, and i get a dialog box on each saying to sync with the computer you normally sync with.  i am pretty sure it is one of these three mac's.  Is there any way to tell which computer an ipad is syncing with?  Or how to tell which apps are backed up and will remain after the update?  thanks

    No.

  • How to determine which cell the user has just left?

I want to check the contents of a JTable cell just after the user has left that cell.
What is the most reliable way to determine which cell the user has just left?

    Hi,
I use the cellRenderer for that... if the value is not correct, I call an editCellAt() method...

  • Any way to tell if this damage is the drive's or disk's fault?  & other Q's

My laptop is a little loud in my opinion when dealing with disks generally, but I haven't used a laptop in a while, and the one CD-R I've burnt seems fine - the data is all there and the back seems clean.
But I inserted a Memorex CD-RW recently, and when I ejected it, the very thin silver ring around the very edge of the top of the disk had chipped away. I don't know if it was like that before I put it in. The CD-RW disk is at least four years old. I don't know how much I moved the laptop (if at all) while the drive was actually running. I only read the disk; I didn't burn it or anything like that. I inserted some other disks afterward and didn't see any damage - at least nothing as overt as this. Is there any way to tell what's at fault here?
Also, if any of the chips from the disk came off while the disk was inside my laptop, could they do any harm to the innards?
    Message was edited by: LeaperBP

    Hi
The thing to remember about CD blanks is that the silver layer is just stuck on a clear plastic disc. And yes over time especially using slot loading drives parts of this layer come off around the edge. I made several audio CDR's for use in the car, which is a slot loading drive. After a while they develop areas around the edge where the silver layer is missing.
It also depends on the quality of the CDR, I found some cheap ones which if you sneezed bits of the silver layer would fly off. While some Verbatim CDR's give the impression you could take a hammer and chisel to them. Also age has a great deal to do with CDR's, the older they are the more likely they will flake. Heat is the biggest killer, audio CDR's kept in cars can last no time at all.
If the drive is functioning OK then if the flake did come off while inside it is probably stuck somewhere out of the way causing no problem.
Laptop drives do tend to whirr, click and cause alarm when compared to say tray loading drives. You can sometimes get terrible vibration with some cheap disks where the hole is not central. I put a disk in once and thought my MacBook had turned into one of those vibrating slimming belts that used to be about :-))

  • Is there any way to tell Airport to select the strongest network from saved networks?

I have two routers in my house as both are fairly crap, and essentially I have one router for upstairs and one for downstairs (to be fair, my house is a few hundred years old and all the walls are massively thick granite so perhaps no router would negate this problem). This is a minor issue really, but is there any way to tell Airport, rather than simply having a list of networks to try in preferred order, to check which of the two networks has a stronger wifi signal when the mac is booted up or woken from sleep, and join that one?
Don't mind doing it manually tbh, just curious as to whether this could be automated.

Hmm, this is interesting. I actually didn't know this.
    From:
    http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/answers/4-wi-fi-tips-from-former-apple-wi-fi-engi neer
"Apple devices choose networks by your preferred order. Period. If you have multiple networks of different names your Mac or iPhone will always choose the first in your iCloud-synced "Preferred Networks" list even if this one isn't going to give you the best bandwidth. If you have the network name/SSID the same then it will chose the radio that it predicts will give the best throughput (which isn't always the one with the best signal, but that's an even geekier discussion you can hear in the show). Make all the Wi-Fi networks in your home the same. Your life will be better for it."
Maybe I've been working on too many PCs over the last 5 years.

  • Is there any way to tell the differences between auroras or betas?

There are various arouras and betas released during each rapid release cycles.
Is there any way to tell the differences (changes/fixes) between auroras or betas?
bugzilla can only tell the target for landing but not releases for some of the changes/fixes ...

The Beta builds of a version has about six to twelve with nine being the average in last while until the 34.0 Betas. For Aurora which now currently called Developer Edition has checkins almost everyday so therefore there are updates each of those days.
For Beta builds you can look at http://release.mozilla.org/ and http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-beta/
For Aurora you can look through http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-aurora/
If you want to be a Tester then perhaps http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23 may be of interest as many Testers hang out there.

  • What's the best way to determine which row a user clicked on via a link?

Hello. Probably simple question, but my googleing is failing me. I have a table, with a column that is a command link. How can I determine which row the user clicked on? I need to take that value, and pass it to a different page to bind it for a different query. I was thinking of setting the result in a session bean? Or is there a better way?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    You have two options:
    1. (Complex) Have your ActionListener evaluate the event to get the source, then climb the component tree up to the table and get the current row data;
    2. (Simple) Add a setPropertyActionListener to the link with value="#{var}" target="#{destination}" where var is the table's var attribute value and destination is your managed bean that required the clicked row.

  • When using two iPhones (iOS 5) on the same computer/iTunes Is there any way to choose which songs, contact info., etc. are sync'd to each device?

When using two iPhones (iOS 5) on the same computer/iTunes Is there any way to choose which songs, contact info., etc. are sync'd to each device?

    For each iPhone...
From the Summary tab select:  Sync only checked songs and videos.
Under Options in the Summary tab select:  Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi
If you want you can select: Manually manage music and videos.
Select the music you want synced from your iTunes library, same with Contacts.

  • Is there any way to tell the last date my ipod was plugged into my computer?

OKay, this may be a techie question, but I'm pretty savvy so if this info is contained in a file somewhere, you can feel free to explain how to find it, I can look for it.
i Misplaced my iPod nano at some point in time, and knowing the last date I synced it to iTunes or even plugged it in would be HUGELY helpful in helping me to maybe locate it.  IS there any way to see this information (the date specifically) anywhere on my computer dated in any file?
I Did look at devices and the iPod wasn't listed there, (only my more recent iPad and iPhone as backups) so I'm assuming maybe this wasnt an option in earlier versions of iTunes at least when I last had that sucker plugged in.
IIt's Moreso just killing me that I can't find it, and I KNOW it's one of a few places.
    ANy help is great!
    thanks!
