Any way to upgrade just iPhoto?

I just upgraded a hard drive on my iMac G4 to Leopard, and of course the iPhoto that came with my computer (version 2.0.1, apparently) won't work because it's not supported. I really don't want to pay $80 to upgrade to a package of stuff that I have NEVER used and have no interest in using in iLife, and I don't think I should have to pay that much for software that came with a computer I'm still using and is still supported as the base software package. I already paid a lot of money to upgrade the OS, so Apple got their money. Thankfully, I installed Leopard on a separate hard drive and can run iPhoto on the old drive running the old OS, if I boot from there.
I don't even care if I run version 8.0. I'd be willing to pay a small price for an older version that works, even without the bells and whistles. I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant, and it might be nice to be able to use my computer to do some of the things I want to do with it, like store photos, and for which I've paid without having to spend a fortune for things I don't need and that at the moment I can't afford.

Of course, you didn't have to upgrade your Operating System.
The only way to upgrade iPhoto past version 2 is to purchase an iLife Package. You may get a v4, v5 or v6 package online at Amazon or ebay.

If you're using a PowerPC Mac, no.
If you're using an Intel Mac, phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD.

I have a 2007 13" Macbook White. Is there any way to upgrade my OS from 10.6.8 to anything above 10.7? I keep getting an error message when I try to download 10.8.3 because Apple didn't make it compatible with my machine, but I really only need 10.7. So is there ANY possible way to do this with my current Macbook? Thanks for the help guys.

According to these system requirements, no, there is no way to go higher than Lion (10.7), as Mountain Lion (10.8) will not be compatible.
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
Also note that both Lion and Mountain Lion are memory hogs and the realistic minimum RAM should be 4 GB; you can run it with 2 GB, but depending on how you use your machine, you may not be happy with its performance.

Unless the machine was originally offered with an upgradeable option, no, the parts would have to be replaced with the same spec parts. You do realize that a logic board replacement can be as much as $600 or more?

  • Is there any way to upgrade to a newer version of os x snow leopard if my computer isn't compatible with mavericks?

Is there any way to upgrade my software version? I've tried downloading java or upgrading it and it won't let me because my software isn't compatible. I was ready to install Mavericks when all of the sudden my computer isn't compatible with OS X Mavericks. Does anybody have any solutions besides buy a new computer?

If your computer isn’t compatible, you might be able to upgrade to Lion.
    Computer Compatibility - Lion                       Lion
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
    Application Compatibility
You can also check which applications are PowerPC by going to the  menu, select About this Mac, click on More info…, then click System Report and select Software/Applications.
If you have applications that you want to use that aren’t compatible, you can retain Snow Leopard and create a new partition to install Lion on or you can run Snow Leopard  server in a virtual mode.

you can connect to WiFi your tablet and wait for a FOTA update or check for system updates manually:settings/about tablet/system update  or download the update package manually and use a microSD to update (do a backup of your personal data)http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/OS/OS/OS_Acer_Acer.AV0K0.A1-810.RV0BRC01.WW.GEN1_A44K_A.zip?acerid=635500569872262266&Step1=TABLET&Step2=ICONIA%20A1&Step3=A1-810&OS=A12&LC=it&BC=ACER&SC=EMEA_17

Syncing the iPhone 5C requires at least Mac OS X 10.6.8. Mac OS X 10.6 DVDs are available at the online Apple Store; they require a Mac with an Intel CPU and at least 1GB of RAM.

  • I really want to update my iMovie, but I guess I need to update a lot of things first, which costs a lot of money. Is there any way I can just update iMovie and nothing else?

    - If you have a 1G ipod you can't update past 3.1.3.  To identify yourd see:
    Identifying iPod models
    - Be aware that if you can/do update the iOS to the latest (4.2.1 for a 2G and 4.3.4 for a 3G) you may not be able to sync to the old computer since that computer will need the latest iTunes to see/sync with the update iPod.  Yo need an Max with at least OSX 10.5.8.
You can transfer iTunes purchases from the iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can use on of the third-party programs dicussed here to transfer other stuff:
    new PC: Apple Support Communities
Unless you can move/copy the iPod backup file to the new computer you will loose all app data and restore from that backup. That file is located:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

any way to recover deleted iphoto pictures or are they anywhere stil on my mac?

When you delete anything it's not gone. The OS marks the space it occupies as available for overwriting, but until that overwriting occurs it can be recovered. But... the software used to recover is expensive. For instance

  • Any way to export from iPhoto and have the file date be the photo date?

I can't deal with iPhoto any longer. I just imported photos from the last few days and they ended up being associated with some "Event" from Jul 19, 2007. So now I have an event that spans Jul 19, 2007 to Feb 21, 2009!!! I'd like to just display, sort, view all photos in my library by date (I am meticulous about dates on all my devices) but apparently that's not possible anymore. "Events" is the worse thing to ever happen to my photo library...
So I'd like to export them all and just use the Finder. It actually works the way I'd like. However there does not seem to be any way to export the photos so that the file creation or the file modification date is the actual date the photo was taken as shown in the information box in iPhoto. Does anyone know how to to this? Or is this just the iPhoto engineers screwing with people like me who have gotten disgusted with their product?
    Thanks!

Yes, I know what the Finder is... The cool thing is it actually does know about the contents of the file. For example it can display thumbnails of the images contained within.
Even better the files can be sorted any way you want, are not hidden in some odd proprietary package, can be backed up, restored at will and can easily be programmatically changed using AppleScript. The file system for an OS is generally bullet-proof and as such doesn't screw with dates like iPhoto did (the events stuff screwed with all our dates and has been a disaster for us and the 40,000 or so pictures we had in our library).
iPhoto has just gotten too modal, too bloated, and too proprietary while not providing the basics like a way for my wife and I to have a single library for all our photos. On the other hand using just the file system and some network storage this is easy.
For the recored most pros I consulted with have moved to the file system and Finder as their primary means of managing their photos. I'm just looking for an easy way to get my stuff out of iPhoto so I can do the same.
