Any way to utilize front audio ports on cas

I picked up the Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic today at a local store since the rest of the hardware will be coming in tommorrow (forgot to order a sound card, hence the reason I bought it at the store). Anyways, the case I ordered has a speaker and mic plug in the front of the case. Is there any way to use these things with the Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic? I switch from my speakers to headphones a lot and really find it annoying crawling behind the computer every time I need to. ;P Front audio ports would make things extremely convinient.
So, any possiblities with the X-Fi XtremeMusic?
If that's not possible, could I plug in the headphones to the third output on the card since I'm only running a 4. speaker setup?

Incase anyone else needs it, here are the pinouts:
- Analog Ground
2 - Analog Headphone Out Left
3 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- short to ground to mute the backpanel (when headphones are plugged in)
4 - Analog Headphone Out Right
5 - same as #3
6 - Mic input from front panel
7 - key pin (shouldn't be there)
8 - VREF out -- voltage reference for Mic
9 - MIC IN MUTE -- ground when mic isn't plugged in, +2VDC when mic is plugged in
0 - Audio cable detect -- will be ground when headphones are plugged in (not normally used)

  • XFI Fatality And Front Audio Ports On C

Hi guys I have a bit of a question about something that has been nagging me for a while.
I have front audio ports on built into my case that I would like to have working. I know that the sound card came with an I/O Dri've with similar ports on it but it is just bugging me knowing that my case has them also and that they are not working. The case has a headphone and mic jack in front, Problem is that I have no idea if I can even hook them up using the sound card.
Has anyone done this? If so can you help me connect my front ports.
    Thanks
    Any replies would be appreciated

Hi Mark,?This was covered in another thread. http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=53474?Creative doesn't recommend this, but other people have had success. To be done at your own risk.

If you haven't got a backup copy and if it's still in the store then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download (there is no guarantee that they will) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Non-Apple Keyboard: any way to control system audio volume?

I have a non-Apple Keyboard on my new Mini Lion 7.2.1
Is there any way to control system audio volume via the keyboard ?

Well. I can do this. But just because, on my Apple keyboard, there are the keys that do the job. There's a key to mute, and the keys to adjust low and high the sound. But keyboard shortcuts, I don't think exist. The aren't in keyboard shortcut in Keyboard panel, within System Preferences. The bottom line is that isn't a menu item in Finder for lower sound and higher sound. The only option would be an AppleScript that you save as an applet within Scripts menu (activated in Finder via Script Editor) and you invoke with a shortcut... Well, you can do it, if you open the script Set Output Volume in UI Elements Script folder within Scripts folder. Try it out!

  • Any way to communicate with Serial PORT using JavaScript

is there any way to communicate with Serial PORT using JavaScript ??
Dont tell me to do it in java because I need to this on client side not on server side.
such as when client pressed the button, a javascript function will be called and in that function I need to communicate with the serial port of that client... That action will not go to server side.

Is there any way to send a string of bytes to the serial port from the client side ?
Just a button on the web page that sends out stuff to the comport.

  • Front audio port not working please help..

    Hey guys,
My HP Pavilion DV2275ea front audio jack does not work, I have tried many different headsets as the mic jack works just fine. I have tried reinstalling audio drivers (Conexant High-Definition Audio Chip) and still nothing. I have look at the support advice posted to no avail. Is there anything else i could try?
A friend said it could be turned off in the bios but i am not able to get in as i don't know the password for the phoenix bios, could this be true?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Well from looking at a jpeg of your board the front usb headers are laid out just like my board. Each set of headers support 2 usb ports each. That gives you the 4 in the rear and 4 for the front.
Now as to the pinouts, 1+3+5+7+9 is 1 set and 2+4+6+8+10  is the 2nd set, with pins 1 and 2 being the 5V power pins. Pins 7 and 8 are your grounds.  3 and 4 are the usbo- and usb1-. Pins 5 and 6 are usbo+ and usb1+. Pin 9 is the "key" pin and may actually be missing by intention. Key 10 is sometimes called the usboc pin and normally isn't used. On some boards you don't want anything connected to pin 10, even if you have to snip the wire going to it and terminate the end of the wire with insulating tape.
Your motherboard manual should show you the pin layout.

  • Any way to utilize CTXCAT index?

I’ve been looking into trying to add indexes to columns in a table which have a data type of VARCHAR2(4000). Does anyone know if there is a way to utilize a CTXCAT index from an OBIEE request? It requires a special syntax in the where clause so I'm not sure if there is a way to make OBIEE actual take advantage of the index if I do create it.

  • Can Firefox in any way affect the 'start' audio volume on the Flash plugin ??

I hate that so many videos begin at full volume. Is there any way that Firefox can affect any parameters for volume control on the Flash plug-in ? Doesn't look like the plug-in is programmable itself, but what do I know.
    Or
Is there an entirely different approach to making sure 'any' video can't begin at full volume ?
Having total control over video (or audio.. mp3, etc.) begin volume ... this would be one heck of a popular feature to put into a version of Firefox itself.
    OR....
I'm still thinking this through.... why not some sort of faux-decibal meter that will not allow volume past a set point. THAT would be a neat background utility to add into the existing volume control tool.
    Help me out here, guys

hello rbnoah, i think this can be handled by your operating system - it should be possible to assign different volume levels for different applications (& also the flash plugin): http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/5228/simple-tips-windows-7-volume-mixer-enables-quick-access-to-sound-settings/

  • Any way to fix "damaged audio configuration"?

have a session here that says it has a "damaged "audio configuration". the session still opens, but is there any way to fix this?

I could make out a few of the words, but I couldn't get the context of it. As ryclark says, it's way too far gone for any treatment I'm aware of. With noise, there's often something that can be done, but with distortion you simply can't do anything even remotely sensible at all.

  • I just got my iphone yesterday and have no idea how to work it since it doesn't come with an owners manuel. I was wondering if there were any way of saving the audio attachments from multimedia messages or text messages as ring tones??

Is there any way to save audio attachments from multimedia messages or text messages as ringtones so I can set them to specific contacts on the iphone 3gs??

You have to create iphone ringtones.
There are many free ways to do this.  Google will find them.
Click Support and the top of this page, then Manuals, then iphone user guide to find the manual, or look at your bookmarks on the iphone.

  • Any way to recover the audio?

I filmed an event in which I was switching the audio between the camera's internal mic and a shotgun mic. Of course on a select few clips, I forgot to turn the camera's setting from line in to internal so I wasn't recording audio when I thought I was. However, when I put these clips into fcpx, I notice a dimmed waveform over the audio. I'm wondering if it's some feature of the camera to automatically record the audio from the internal mic, but it has to be activated or something. Or unless it's just a general diagram from fcpx informing me that this is where the audio would normally be. However, it's different on each clip and looks like it would be the actual audio if it would only play it.
So my question is, is there any way to activate that dimmed audio channel and recover what I thought I didn't have? I've tried messing with the import settings to detect and fix problems and switch around the stereo/mono configurations but none of these seem to enable that channel.
    Thanks for any help.

You are seeing the Reference wave forms.
There is probably something there BUT is it recoverable?
Click and drag up on the audio level line and see what happens.

  • Is there any way to get my charger port replaced?

My charging port is missing one of the pins (it broke off) and I have pictures that I want from the phone, would there be a way to get the port fixed/replaced?

If the phone has power and you have a Wi-Fi connection you can use Selling, Google Photos, or similar cloud services to move your photos to your computer. That could be a temp fix until you find a repair shop. Verizon or any carrier I know of does repairs. They only follow the manufacturer warranty agreement they have with the carriers.

  • Is there ANY way to configure the wired ports on Airport Extreme with 7.6.1 software?

I need to connect a Cisco router to one of the wired ports because I'm creating a home lab with several switches and routers and attached hosts. I need the VERY BASIC ability to set (or even just to SEE) what IP address the AirPort is using/assigning, but with the current AirPort Utility, you apparently can't show the DHCP table for wired connections or set up a static pool of addresses to use or really, to do anything else that is ABSOLUTELY BASIC networking configurations for a router. I don't even know what range of IP addresses the AirPort is using for the wired ports.
I love this device - it works much better than my old Linksys that I replaced a couple years ago, but this is the Apple Nannies taking things too far. Sure, make the products easy to configure and use, but stop taking away the ability for advanced users to actually use the product because all you're doing is ******* off your power users - which are the exact people whose friends always ask for recommendations on what products to buy. I've always recommended Apple products to everyone, but if they're going to engineer everything so that only stupid people can use them, then only stupid people will buy (and recommend) them. (Can you tell I'm annoyed that I've wasted so much time on a completely unnecessary and irrelvant side-issue when I should be already working on my actual work project?)
    /Rant-off
So, does anyone know how to access the actual configuration of the AirPort Extreme so I can use a static IP address for my Cisco router that's plugged into one of the AirPort's wired ports? That's all I need.
    Thanks.

The AirPort assigns IP addresses via DHCP in a range you specify. You may also elect to assign devices their own static IP addresses. That does not involve the Extreme at all, though you may "reserve" those addresses in its DHCP Reservations table.
AirPort Utility > Network > Network Options...
Assigning static IP addresses obviates any need to determine the IP addresses the Extreme assigns.
Update its firmware to version 7.6.3.
