Any way to verify if a Snapshot policy is being used?

I can check what SnapShot policy is associated with a volume by running "vol show -instance". However, is there any way to trace another way around, if a SS policy is still valid or being used by any volumes? I wanted to remove it if no volumes are assocaiting this policy.

You could do "volume show -snapshot-policy <name of policy>" that would list the volumes using that policy and if no one is using it ... then no results.

How my frustration is concerning this lack of mechanisms over the Virtual Machine to help us declare a MUTEX (I think this is essential to write applications running as services and with the need to have only one instance that runs at once and at a time). The MUTEX is integrated and usable on windows and unix platform and POSIX normalization have described the concept of MUTEX and how implement it. I'm very surprised to haven't yet discovered, as far as my eyes can see, in the Java reference books I read that Java have indeed semaphores for the threading purposes but nothing related to "critical sections", and "mutexes". I saw there is mechanisms to make the things easier when manipulating threads (synchronize statement) but nothing that is clearly matching the MUTEX concept. That's a pity.
Right now, I'm trying to find a way to let the application supposed to be ran once at a time to verify there is no other instance running.
The best idea I found is to create an external "variable" such as an empty file at a particular location that indicates there is an application that "holds" this file and so... if another instance is launched this one will be shutdown immediatly once the file access is denied...

I tried this, firstly de-clicked the title in iTunes and syned with my iPhone4 but the title is still there on the phone. so deleted the title from iTunes and re-syned but alas the title is still there.

Did you import the old iPhoto library into the new one? That's not what you want to do because you will import all of the original, modified and thumbnail files as if they were original files. Lots of duplicates and useless small photos.
Do you have a backup copy of the library that you imported into to? If you do then bring it in and then use iPhoto Library Manager to merge the two libraries into a new, 3rd library.
If you don't then you'll have to try to fix the current one and then cull out the duplicates and small useless photos as follows: make a temporary, duplicate copy of your library and apply the three fixes in order as necessary.
Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your HD/User/Home()/ Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your HD/User/Home()/Library /Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If this doesn't fix the problem you'll have to start over from scratch and create a new library from the files inside the Originals folder of your current library. But first you should cull out the small photos that would be the thumbnails from the 2001 library.
Move the Originals folder to the Desktop, open and do a search for Kind=photo, File size is less than 10 KB. That should find all of the thumbnail files which you can then drag to the Trash. You might have to make that less than 50 KB. Then Import the remaining photos into a new iPhoto library.

Call your local Apple store. Not sure how the phone system works in the UK, but here in the US there is a menu system that allows you to make an appointment. Or, you can go online to www.apple.com/retail, or you can use the Apple Store app and make an appointment there after selecting the particular store.

iCloud backups only give you 5GB free if your backup is larger then 5GB then you need to purchased more storage.

No, you'd have to take another snapshot and then send it, but you don't need to save all the snapshots after you are done. If you script it out to take snapshots fairly often during the day, the amount of data would be small. You can also send to a file and then backup that file to tape or whatever, you wouldn't have to save a million snapshots. You can also look into OpenSolaris' Time Slider function.

I have bought this set. This is a new set. Made in Finland. The thing I want to know is there any way I can know that this set is originally made in finland or not. No, iPad can become a hot spot, but if you have an iPhone, it can tether if you have a data plan that incudes the tethering option. With AT&T for example, you can add tethering for $20 month or for $45/month, you receive tethering and 4GB of data per month. If you have the unlimited data plan from AT&T you'll unfortunately have to give it up if you want to tether. You can also go to almost any carrier and purchase a MiFi unit which may work for you. Whether iw will work in Northern Minnesota is something only your carrier could answer.
