I agree... Quicktime + Vista = nightmare. Anyway to play proprietary iTunes media on something other than Quicktime?

Playlists show up as album art until you tap on one to reveal the list of songs in the playlist. That is the way that the new Music App works in iOS 5.

Thanks, this is definitely better than clicking events one by one. I just don't understand why Apple doesn't display it in the events in the day or week view the same way they show the Location field. Interestingly, on the iPad "Day" view, the Notes field is diplayed in the panels on the left side of the screen (although not on the right side).

Any way to view iTunes backup data?

I sold my IP4 S after backing it up with iTunes with the intention of restoring it to my new IP5 when it arrives. However, I don't remember the name I used for my IP4 S. After doing the backup, I also backed up my IP 3G and didn't see my IP4 S backup from within iTunes. I'm wondering if that backup ONLY shows if I plug an iP into iTunes with the same "name"?
Is there anywhere that I can see my iTunes backup data that would allow to to see the name I used for my old IP4 S. I certainly would like to make my IP5 look like my old IP4 S. I think I've used this procedure in the past when I've upgraded my IPs.
Sure would save me a lot of time, but it's not the end of the world if that backup is now lost. I'm thinking if I did have the name and I named my new IP5 as such, when I plugged it into iTunes, I could then restore it to look like my IP4 S.

From what I can tell, iTunes LP files are like the old way of doing things before iTunes in the cloud: one download and you are done. Can anyone conform or deny this?

As applenerd504 states, iTunes cannot be downloaded onto a Niokia phone, since it is a computer programme, designed to work on either a Mac or a Windows PC.
However, if you mean songs purchased from the iTunes Store (songs), then you need to consult the documentation for your Nokia. Songs purchased from the iTunes Store are in .m4a format (also known as AAC). If your Nokia cannot play .m4a files, then you will need to use iTunes (the programme) to create an MP3 version.

Any way to insert into a database clob other than streaming chars ?

I have a jsp with a textarea object which I am inserting into an Oracle clob.
I am using the thin driver.
I have a problem in that if it is quite large (say over 2K) it falls over with "connection reset by peer" I think this may be because you aren't supposed to use this method with the thin driver, but I don't want to use OCI.
So is there any other way to insert my text into the database without having to explicitly select the row first for update as this is essentially a new insert so doing it like this I would have to first of all insert the other columns then reselect the row for update of the clob.

Most, if not all, database management systems have their own features to read text data from files. You may prefer that functionality over piping the data through ColdFusion and the database drivers.
<cffile...> can "read" .doc and .pdf file as in it can read the file from the file system as the binary data they are, but that does not extract the text from the content. You can do some stuff with CFML to read the text in a pdf file with the <cfpdf...> and related tags and functions. I'm not aware of similar CFML features that work with doc files, but I know of Java tools that do such as POI. These are usually fairly straight forward to tap into with ColdFusion.

HT5449 In my iPad I can easily switch languages by hitting the world icon. I have it set up to switch betwee english and spanish. I can use both in one document. Is there any way to do this on the mAC other than go to system preferences?

When I am dictating on my ipad, I can switch back and forth between languages by clicking the world icon. On the MAC it seems as though I have to go to system preferences and switch language there. That is a little cumbersome, Is there a way of switching on the MAC?

System Preferences/Language & Text/Input Sources - Select the languages you want and then Show Input menu in menu bar. This allows you to switch back and forth from the menu bar.

Is there any way to report on Custom Object 3 other than lists?

Looks like the answer is no but just wondering if anyone has come up with a brilliant work around. I guess the only chance is with Web Services, or is Custom Object 3 the red headed step child there as well?
I read in an earlier thread that R15 fix/patch may enable the ablity to report in analytics OD on the Custom Objects, any idea if Custom Object 3 will be included?
I wish the documentation pointed this out somewhere! It would have been nice to know before I created the Objects funtionality!

It is my understanding that the patch will be applied automatically for all customers. The patch will enable reporting on custom Objects 1, 2 & 3 and will have subject areas for Custom Object, Custom Object & Account, Custom Object & Opportunity, Custom Object & Contact, and Custom Object & Service Request.
(That is 5 subject areas per custom object for a total of 15 new subject areas!)

Is there any way to start/stop OBIEE system components other than OPMN

We had some issues including OPMN into our watch dog process, does oracle provide start/stop scripts to manage system components or we have to rely on OPMN ?

This relates to tethering on iPhone, external Apple hard drives only being usable with MacBook Air, and now this! If anyone is aware of a hack or way around this I would appreciate some guidance. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases.
Copy everything from your old copmputer, or your backup copy of your old copmputer to your new one.

You record a set of instantaneous data with a camera.
That data is processed by your camera and saved to a file.
The file format is usually either RAW or JPG.
You transfer those files to your computer, and you import them into the program Aperture (often in one operation).
From each camera-file imported, Aperture creates a record in its database (called, imho unhelpfully, a Library) and an Image that you see in the Aperture Browser and Viewer.
Aperture links the Image and the imported file.
The imported file is called, within Aperture, an Original.
Every Image has an Original.
The Image is not the Original. The Image is what you see in Aperture.
The Original is a file that is stored on your computer.
You can make changes to an Image.
Aperture calls these changes Adjustments.
Adjustments are saved to another file attached to the record in the database. Let's call this file the Changes File.
Aperture uses these two files attached to the record in the database to create the Image.
Image = Original + Changes File.
The Image is not a file.
Because the Image is not a file, it cannot be shared with other programs. It exists only inside of Aperture.
In order to share an Image with another program, you must first create a file of the Image.
You do this by exporting Images ("File ▹ Export ▹ Version" is the command in Aperture; should be, imho, "File ▹ Export ▹ Image").
You may ask, "Why all the complexity? Why doesn't Aperture save Images as files?" The answer is simple: Images can require less — and in many cases very very much less — storage space than files of Images. The trade-off is that although your Images are always available to be made into share-able files, you must create those files when needed (which you do by exporting selected Images).

No, there is not. Images exist only in Aperture, and are not accessible for use in other programs. You must create, for each Image in your Aperture Library, a new file outside of your Aperture Library in order to use it with another program.
Aperture does allow you to create and save within your Library share-able files of your Images. These files are called Previews. You specify the file parameters in Aperture Preferences on the Previews tab. These files are available to other programs via the OS X Media Browser. These files are what you get when you drag selected Images out of the Aperture program and drop them on another program or on your desktop (which is part of the Finder).

is any way to view you tube videos while waiting for this quicktime fiasco to be fixed? No quicktime movies are working at all, and it's really annoying. I was wondering if there was an alternate method to view videos or do I just have to wait patientally?

well here is the deal. Since I did the recent update on quicktime, NO quicktime movies play at all. I get that faded quicktime logo with a ? instead. Youtube also has that for every video and nothing plays. I have flash 9 and I unchecked the flash option (there wasn't wasn't one in the mime settings, it was just in the quicktime advanced tab), restarted The computer and I till have the same result. It has been a week allready and I still can't view movies of any sort. Thank you for yoru suggestions, but Is there anything else that could be wrong?
