Any week 26+ MBP with the whine?

I'm wating to order my third MBP replacement until I know that the whine has been fixed. Rumors have that it should be fixed very soon if not already.
My first week 18 had the whine all the time. My second one (week 24) only had it when running on batteries, unfortunately the screen had a group of miscolered pixels (neither dead or stuck, miscolored !?!).
My question is if anyone has a week 26+ MBP, that still has the whine?
Thx.

Hallo,
here the whine test:
The 'bzzz','ssssss','Hissssggemmm' comes right from where you plug the AC adapter into you MBP.
It disappears after starting Photo booth.
On most MBPs it also disappears when running on battery.
Which production week is your MBP? ( the 4. and 5. digit of your serial number like W86xx )

Marc

  • Week 12 MBP, has the whine gone.......

    does anybody have a week 12 mbp with the whine? reports so far say it has gone.
    check here to see what week yours was made
    http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

    I just took delivery of my Week 12 (W8612...) MacBook Pro today (2.16Ghz, 120GB hard drive, 2GB RAM BTO)
    Like many others, I had been reading with dread of the many problems others have been experiencing. I also had experience with a Rev A iMac G5 which made a terrible noise and had to be sent back, so I was fearing the worst.
    Glad to say, so far, so good...
    - No perceptible whine at all, I've tried putting my head to the keyboard and turning off the second processor using the CHUD tools, doing the "mirror widget" and "photo booth" trick, and I don't perceive any differences. (I'm 37 years old, if that tells you anything about my hearing!)
    - No noise from the screen when reducing or increasing brightness. When I first got the machine, I was a bit freaked out because there seemed to be faint black "clouds" to the left and top of the screen, but these have now completely disappeared after a day's use - I think the screen just needed to "breath" and warm up after being in the box.
    - The left hand part of the machine does get warm / hot when charging the battery, but it then just remains warm / cool once the charge is complete. Certainly not uncomfortable for typing, would be uncomfortable for extended periods on your lap (I have bought an iLap for this purpose, works very well!)
    - Speakers sound very good, no distortion I can notice.
    - No sleep problems so far, I've tried putting it to sleep and waking it up a few times to test this.
    - Keyboard, wireless reception, general build quality and "fit and finish" are really excellent, this "feels" like a sturdy machine, much sturdier than my previous powerbook.
    - Love the big trackpad and magsafe, remote control and iSight / photo booth (lots of fun to be had with the latter).
    - I've been doing a completely clean install, so have had to put a little more thought than usual in to researching universal binary updates to my favourite programs and applications. Not a biggie though, the main thing concerns plugins that aren't yet universal, but these will come.
    All in all, this machine is everything I could have hoped for, really quite silent - any noises it does make are "normal" ones (low fan noise on occasion, sound of the CD spinning). The CD drive and hard drive make virtually no noise while in use, much quieter than my old machine.
    So, if my experience turns out to be "typical" for Week 12 machines and onwards, and if nothing "develops" after continued use (it's only been one day so far!) then I think potential purchasers can rest a little easier now.
    Right, back to exploring my new "toy"!

  • Satellite A660-13T - I can't go from 65 Mbps with the wireless connection.

    +Sorry for my English, is not my native language.+
    Hi,
    I expose my problem:
    I can't go from 65 Mbps with the wireless connection. I can't move from that connection speed.
    Laptop configuration:
    * Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits (with all updates installed).
    * All drivers updated properly.
    * With the latest version of BIOS.
    Router:
    * Tp-link TL-WR1043ND, installed 3 meters above the laptop (without obstacles).
    Configuration of router:
    * WPA2-PSK AES.
    * 802.11n
    * Maximum output power.
    * Channel: 11 (not automatic, this channel is relatively free).
    * Channel width: 40 Mhz.
    * Maximum tx rate: 300 Mbps.
    Other information:
    * The wireless card drivers are correctly then updated (ver. 5.60.48.35).
    * The router has updated firmware.
    * I have tried all settings of the wireless card.
    * Bluetooth off (without interferences).
    * {color:#ff0000}There are other computers on the network that connects 150 and 300 Mbps (with the same network configuration).{color}
    Thanks in advance,
    Greetings.

    Hi buddy,
    > I kept O.S. original for a week and the problem was the same
    If you had the same problem with factory settings you should test another router. Maybe its a malfunction of router or something else (not compatible to your WLAN card).
    Furthermore ask the manufacture of your router if they know something about this.
    In worst case its a hardware malfunction of your notebook. You should contact nearest service centre. I believe they can fix it under warranty, because A660 is pretty new notebook.
    Good luck! :)

  • Is there any support that comes with the OnPlus ON100 devices

    Is there any support that comes with the OnPlus service, or just this forum?  I lost conectivity with all three of the ON100 devices that I had deployed several weeks ago shortly after a firmware upgrade according to the event logs.  Rebooting the devices have not helped.  Two of the sites have Cisco ASA firewalls, the other is 3rd party.

    OnPlus is supported by the Small Business Support Center. Additionally, this forum allows you to interact directly with the OnPlus Team.
    Regarding the devices losing connectivity, have you attempted a cold reboot or resetting PoE, if applicable? In the new releases our TCP/UDP ports required have not changed. Have any network changes been made since that would block the required ports? Does the site have port scanning?
    If you can confirm the network changes and the device has been cold rebooted, the next step would be to reset the device. This is completed by holding down reset for 15 seconds. I would also recommend trying it at a different site/network to verify the network is not the issue.
    If you do not have a connection after these steps, the next step would be to RMA the device.
    Please let me know if you have any questions.
    Thanks,
    The OnPlus Team

  • HT3924 Why TDM exclusive to the iMac? Shouldn't any Mac from 2009 with the correct port have the same option?

    Why Target Display Mode exclusive to the iMac? Shouldn't any Mac from 2009 with the correct ports have the same option? Is there a physical limitation that prevents MacBook Pro/Air notebooks with thunderbolt ports from entering Target Display Mode? Or does someone just need to poke the OSX development team with a stick?

    that was the route I took this time when I updated to 10.5.6 - the downloaded combo updater rather than the smaller (half the size) Mac updater...
    Pretty sure this is a combination of MTU, 2Wire 2701 oddities and me not knowing how to solve them directly (as well as the ipv6 stuff that's still showing in the logs despite IPv6 being turned off).
    Anyhow, I did get it connected under the Ambit finally (took restarting the mac, not expecting that in the "switch" from windows xp)- and that really rocked. Now I'm working on teaching my 2Wire to be a dumb modem, to go with the operator
    Actually, I think I'll just cut my losses for the moment and go with cable, once I find a good wireless router to connect the media center and xp box up front.

    I want to upgrade from OS X 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard, then to Lion. When trying to back-up to a WD 1 TB external drive, the back-up process stalls at about 4 GB download. I would be very grateful for any clues to assist with the back-up process please.

    That disk is very probably formated as FAT 32, the normal format for PCs. FAT 32 cannot support files larger than 4 GB; also, it corrupts some types of Mac OS files. If you want to securely backup your mac files, you must have a disk prepared for Mac OS.
    Therefore, open Disk Utility, choose again 1 partition for your external disk and, under Options, GUID partition map (it may also be a boot disk for an intel mac), then format it as Mac OS Extended Journaled. Y0u are done.
    If you want to exchange data with PCs, you should chose Master Boot REcord and NTFS format, for this you must use a additional utility like NTFS-3G. But note that mac files may also get corrupt in NTFS format.

    To make a screen full screen, you click on the arrows in the upper right corner.  To minimize, move your cursor all the way to the upper right corner of your desktop--give it a second--a symbol will appear that lets you "reverse" the action and minimize the window.  Hope I'm explaining this correctly.

    This is a user to user forum.  You are not addressing Apple.  It appears that you may be having issues related to Activation lock: ( http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695).  If you cannot contact the original owner to have them remove activation lock, you should return the device for a refund.

  • Can I buy a MBP with the danish software?

    Hey!
    My name is Farida Laryea.
    I am a danish exchangestudent in America and I would like to buy a Macbook Pro here since they are a bit cheeper here.
    Does anyone one know if it is possible to buy one with danish software or at least change it into danish?
    I was going to change the keyboard setting to danish if I couldn't buy it with the danish sofware and then buy stickers and stick them on.
    But I would really like the whole thing to be in danish!
    I hope someone can help me!
    Thanks

    (1) Mac OS X is already localised for Danish. There's nothing to re-install; all you need to do is change the respective system preferences.
    (2) Other applications (eg, MS Office) may or may not have Danish localisations -- that does not depend on Apple, but on their developers.
    (3) Ordering an MBP with a Danish keyboard in the US is going to be difficult. You have to ask at the Apple Store; in fact, you should ask in several Apple Stores.
    (4) Using stick-ons may be a solution; at any rate, don't count on changing the keyboard in Denmark -- that's possible, but it's quite expensive.
    (5) I'm told Danish customs officers are eagle-eyed and merciless. You must know much more about that than I do -- but you may wish to keep it in mind.

  • Are there any new 17 " MBPs with matte display out which run properly?

    Hallo,
    I am about to buy one 17 MBP with matte display. But now I ve read all these posts and
    I hesitate to order one. I don't want to have all the trouble to send it back and then wait
    again. So, are there any guys who can not report these graphic issues?
    Yours
    Matthias

    CD = Core Duo, the 1st generation of 17" MBP from way back in 2006. It was flawless when I got it. It's still running perfectly 3 years later. Only issue was a bad battery, and that was a known manufacturing problem at Sony that affected Macs as well as PC laptops. Apple extended the warranty to cover the issue, and replaced mine for free ~3 months after my one-year warranty expired. Two colleagues have the new 17" unibody MBP, one with glossy and one with matte, both are flawless.

  • Besides PCTx, are there any other hardware devices with the same function?

    Hi there
    In order for me to transfer my Labview data from my PC to a Futaba T10CAP controller (http://www.astramodel.cz/manualy/futaba/futaba_10cp_eng.pdf), I will need a hardware to do the linkage.
    PCTx (http://www.endurance-rc.com/pctx.php) is one of the hardware device that enables me to do such a thing but their Labview demo problems doesn't work on the PCTx. Therefore I am looking for an alternative hardware solution where my Labview can interface with the RC controller.
    Welcome any input! Thanks and regard =)

  • Any problems or downside with the 5K Retina iMac?

    Aside from the price, are there any known downsides or issues with the Retina iMac? Such as excessive heat or fan noise? Does the Retina display slow down the computer?
    Thanks.

    My custom built unit finally delivered last Friday, and I admit I'm a bit concerned about the heat generated by this beast, and by the amount of fan noise I hear. A google search of "iMac 5K heat..." will bring up quite a few lively discussions about it on the web.
    I've noticed significant fan noise, more so than the previous iMac's I have owned. This is just the computer doing its job mind you, but the rapidity of how fast things get hot is alarming to me. Testing almost any modern video game (WOW, Diablo 3, LOL, HOTS, etc.) kicks the fans in within 60 seconds, as does watching 1080p fullscreen videos on YouTube using Chrome (have not tested this in Safari since I don't install Flash, so I blame Chrome for this.)
    Of course "excessive" is subjective to the individual ear, what bothers some may not bother others. With my previous iMacs (going back to 2008) the machine would get so hot playing some games and the fans would not rev up enough to adequately cool the machine. Many times the iMac got so hot it shut itself off to prevent damage, forcing me to use SMCFanControl to regulate it myself. Apple wanted the iMac to be quiet, but it did so to the point of hardware failure, which was a big source of frustration for users back then.
    They seem to have addressed that portion of the issue with this model, because I can't recall ever hearing the fans come on anywhere near as fast. I don't feel an alarming amount of heat on the back of the chassis, which is good, but for me the fan noise is definitely noticeable.
    There are a couple of other threads about the GPU getting hot enough to cause concern (GPU Heat iMac 5k 105degrees C) if you are looking for other sources of information.

  • HT1904 has any one had problems with the apps disclaimer having no accept button??

    Has anyone had a problem with the Accept button not in the email for the apps store disclaimer

    This is not the first time it has rebooted. It has done so every so often since I had it. It has been occuring more often over the past few months and its not that uncommon to here of random reboots, I read through some of the threads about reboots and it either one thing or another and its not always the same apps that cause it, some have reboots with. Camera, I had them with led appps like droid light and led light. I still had reboots after uninstalling those apps. I read that people say its usually the apps that cause the problems but which ones. What ever it is one thing seems to be consistent is that the phone hangs or freezes and then reboot. There are always updates for apps, maybe some of the problems are with the device itself. Hope the next android version for the x fixes the reboot issues that has been happening. I know all phone will have some bugs and flaws and there will never be a perfect worry/problem free phone, that's what updates are for. The problem is some, if not all, manufacturers and carriers are slow to update their devices. Don't get me wrong im not bashing the x or Verizon because both have been good for me. I've had better than average service as far as network connectivity and the x is an overall great phone. If it is apps that cause most of the problems I would like to know which ones someone I cab stay away from them, sometimes the comments in the market are helpful but not always. Like the phone and can't see myself with any other phone, at least until the new phone with gingerbread come out or hopefully a gingerbread update for the droid x, not going to hold my breath
